Telectronics

If You are realy an Australian then you know ther is a magazine called 'The Buletin" and so why don't you read the articles on Telectronics or don't you have the sincerity to follow up on your coments on citing it? Surely you should take some responsibility to read the material and not to simply accept heresay from conspirators intent on preserving the Trainor bulshit. Read the book 'Outside the Square ' and not that nothing was said about Trainor purchasing shares in Telectronics in 1967. In 1967 telectronics had developed 7 pacemakers 3 heart monitors and 3 defids and was leading the world with pacemakr innovations, Trainor and his biographor failed to emntion that! The Clunies Ross Foundation were duped by jim and he went around telling people that he founded the pacemaker industry. He did not and that is why 'Telectronics the Early Years was written and alos to give recognition to Wickham a detail he fails to acknowledge. I completely understand not wanting to get involved. I tried stepping into this dispute about 10 months ago and wasn't able help. Thanks for helping with the references, although many of them seem to be not easily verifiable or verifiably biased, i.e. written by the disputants.
I really hate to simply take the side of the person who isn't cursing based solely on that fact, but it's getting to the point where I'm hard pressed to feel like doing anything else. If there is another outburst I will likely contact the ISP and sprotect the article again as it has devolved beyond a content dispute at this point.—WAvegetarian•(talk) 02:22, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to tell you that I'm not trying to be difficult with this source thing. It's just that I've seen first hand how biased Chris Gray is, not that I would necessarily be any different. Well isn't that interesting, you can all have a happy Christmas knowing that you have helped wickingham destroy Chris Gray and Noel Gray from the coments that Wickapedia have published about "fantacies" told about Telectronics. We shall see about that. Might I say that you have been biased and have I believe disregarded the refferences provided. All published material from the time (1960-78) suports the year 1963 and you would do well to alter the entry in accordance with them. Since there is no way you have to verify the references except to take the word of the anonimous editors I suggest that the Wickapedia establish a procedure for sourcing and reading all publications before you allow people to make statements that can be defatory or slanderous. I'm not entirely sure how Chris Gray has been destroyed. After all, there is no article on him and he is not mentioned in the article Telectronics. As for destroying Noel Gray, even if it is fallacious, I don't see how sharing the credit for incorporating, as the intro no longer says anything about founding, Telectronics could possibly ruin him. I urge you to take a deep breath and consider what you are writing before you are typing. I am taking you at your word that you are an intelligent reader, which means that you were writing quite hurriedly and heatedly to misspell references, anonymous, defamatory, and intelligent. I would also like to alert you to the fact that you have been habitually misspelling Wikipedia. It derives from the Hawaiian "wiki wiki" and does not contain the letter c. (Apologies Golden Wattle for posting this here as well as on the IP's talk page. I just think it unlikely that the editor will ever see it there since he is dynamic. Doing something about the ridiculous date autoformatting/linking mess

Dear GW—you may be interested in putting your name to, or at least commenting on this new push to get the developers to create a parallel syntax that separates autoformatting and linking functions. IMV, it would go a long way towards fixing the untidy blueing of trivial chronological items, and would probably calm the nastiness between the anti- and pro-linking factions in the project. Apologies for my late reply. Been busy around the home of late cleaning up the place ready for the bushfire season (we live on a 10acre block, which attracts all kind of junk from the winds). I wanted to give this topic a good look into (for research's sake of course, nothing more :) and took a little longer to reply than usual. Sorry about that. I don't enter that area of the encyclopedia often, but I'm not squeamish when it comes to most topics. It seems the delay in my providing a reply to you has settled the disagreements there, and the article appears to be referenced far better than it was. Is that a correct understanding? The entry that you included as follows actually refers to the Victorian town of Mitta Mitta not the New South Wales town. This is quite obvious when you read the top of the Fairfax Digital reference that you included.....

Speedy Delete - Stanbridge, New South Wales

Hi can I ask you for admin help? Someone has posted a bio entry on Stanbridge, New South Wales which is a part of our Riverina template in an attempt to provide an article about a Standbridge family. I have posted a {{db-bio}} on the page, but also elcomed the editor on her talk page whilst at the same time informing her why her page is not appropriate. I wonder if we can delete her page (so that its history is clear) and then if you let me know I will put up the appropriate place entry straight up on the fresh page. Riverina - origin of name

Just wanted to say that the info you added regarding the name "Riverine" being between two rivers etc is a very interesting tit-bit of information. I had been wondering why and for example why the Laclan catchment area (a river after all) could not also be part of the Riverina - and your entry tells me (us) in one easy sentence. --VS talk...images 05:15, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I wonder if the actual article in the Border Post (which even though it ended in 1902 has a link to the current Border Mail) would give us more detail of the reason for the mail. For example did Argentinian Horsemen roam the area and thus start the name - much like the Ghan is named after the roaming Afghans on camels.     • Does this help... It seems that the writer of the Border Post article may have been John Dunmore Lang. This page http://www.churchandnation.pcnsw.org.au/C%20&%20N%201986.pdf states at page 14 ...The same sentiments can be distinguished in provincial newspapers of a century ago and even in the writings of John Dunmore Lang as he described the neglect by the government in Sydney of the Port Phillip District and parts of inland New South Wales as early as the 1840s and 1850s.   • I suspect Lang had no direct link to Argentina but instead the name reflected the high level of interest in Argentina by British investors after independence was won from Spain and internal conflict ceased. See History of Argentina#Birth of Argentina. Perhaps there was a desire to piggy back on this high level of interest. I have just uploaded Mirrool and whilst I appreciate it is not conclusive proof I noted (as I literally rode out of town towards Beckom a sign that indicates that you are coming through the gateway of the Riverina at that point and have posted that image (and a couple of other interesting ones) to the Mirrool page. Finalisation of entries to Riverina Template

Hi Matt and GW. I have tried to progress systematically across various road maps to include, as far as I can tell most rural community, hamlet, villages and towns within the template. The odd ghost town which is not on a conventional map, for example Mitta Mitta and Brushwood will be found as we travel around looking for photographs. There may be one or two errors which no doubt will be adjusted as we go through and complete articles and additions. However after combing through the maps tonight and double checking all of the names I think the current list is very complete and you might like to use it for basis of the checklists that you have created/are creating both here and on Wiki Commons.--VS talk...images 12:25, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Transwikid images

Thanks GW - I did notice your answer to Matt. Is it correct to assume that a transwikid image automatically appears on an article on wikipedia from commons once the wikipedia image has been deleted (assuming of course that the name is the same - or does an editor have to add further information to the image link that points it to Commons)? --VS talk...images 21:24, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eureka Stockade

I've been told that when you're referencing specific things, like quotes, numbers, dates etc. that an inline citation is desirable. Inline citations are also considered good if something's controversial, as the Eureka Stockade still is. I'm beginning to read through the online references listed, to search for some of these figures myself, and help the article. Some of the online references have 404ed, though. Caroline Chisholm

True. There is a big difference between commemorating someone in a church calendar and declaring them an official saint. However, according to the Saints in Anglicanism page, the Anglican Church has only ever officially "created" one saint, Charles I of England. They are much more likely to simply commemorate them in their calendar. The same can be said for the various Lutheran churches. However, if they are not included in the project, then the project shows a pronounced apparent bias toward the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Oriental Orthodox churches, who are the only churches to regularly use the word "saint". The only way to counter this is to add the names of all those included in the various Christian liturgical calendars, and the project (that is, me), is now in the process of trying to tag them as well. I have added a statement regarding her inclusion in the Calendar of Saints (Church of England) to the introduction. Given the close ties the CoE has with several Orthodox churches, it is possible that she is commemorated in one or more of them as well. Unfortunately, I can only go through one calendar at a time, and I really haven't gotten to their calendars yet. I should get to them later in the week. I do however see your point that the word "saint" does not often get used by the CoE, and would personally take no direct action to restore either the category or the banner were you to remove them. I have proposed the change to the category name as per your suggestion on the project talk page. I do agree that the length of the name might be seen as some as problematic, which is why I am waiting for other opinions before taking action to rename it. And I clearly agree that the Saints in Anglicanism page needs a lot of work. Most of the similar pages we have are in rather poor shape as well. As soon as I get through tagging all the relevant articles, I intend to start addressing the quality of the more important articles. Right now, the two most active members of the project are User:Pastordavid, a Lutheran minister, and myself, a Roman Catholic, so I am relying somewhat on him to assess the importance of the articles dealing with the individuals from the Protestant calendars. But when we're done with the tagging process, which might be later this week (I hope), I hope to be able to help improve the quality of the more important articles, like the liturgical calendars, generally by copying the formatting and content of the better extant articles. Golden Wattle, under what category within WP:NOT do you justify your decision to remove the disputed content? I think the disputed content is a candiate for further dispute resolution according to Wikipedia's guidelines. WP:M should be the first stage. If all else falls then it should go to an Arbitration Committee. I have also contacted via email the reporters responsible for the orginal article from the Herald Sun about this incident.

Intro length

This is a very straightforward tag that doesn't need discussing. Either an intro is too long or it isn't. Yes, I can imagine you feel a little embarrassed because it's on DYK but it could be worse (I created this a few weeks ago, put it up for DYK and was rewarded with a deletion nomination). But that's the whole point ... you should expect the community to come by with suggestions for improvement, or actual improvements.

Yes, I would do it myself but I don't know the subject well enough to make informed edits to that passage (Also, it's close to midnight where I am and I don't feel up to the kind of editing needed). Re: repeat vandal warning

Unfortunately, it is not evident from the repeat vandal banner the extent of disruptive edits from this IP address. I disagree with anyone removing warnings from any talk page, though I respect that you have your reasons for doing so. Other users should be able to see the full list of warnings easily and be able to reach their own conclusions about the activity of a user, either IP or registered. Removing warnings, even for the best of reasons, only serves to obfuscate the level of abuse from the IP adress. Yes, other users can check the history to see the full extent of warnings, but I disagree that they should have to. Leave all warnings open and public and have the faith that other users and admins will be able to reach their own conclusions about this and other users. --Jayron32|talk|contribs 00:44, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough rationale. I understand your position, respect it, but still disagree. Two final points to defend my position:
  1. If the address is dynamically assigned, then repeat vandals using the same service will not build a long history of warnings, and thus these will not be removed. A vandal using a static IP address should be able to be blocked long-term, or even indefinitly, just as a username can be. Admins need to be able to reach decisions in a short amount of time on how to handle a case of vandalism, the activity at AIV shows that there is a shortage of admins for the volume of work that needs to be done there. Leaving all warnings public lets an admin see clearly the level of abuse, and whether that evidence shows the IP to eb a single-user IP or multiple user IP.
  2. Again, if the IP is used by many people, then it is unlikely that the same vandal will use the same IP over and over. Messages left will not reach more than a page long; if they are more than a page long, it is evidence of a single-user IP, and should be treated accordingly.

Deletion requests/Image:Cricket World Cup trophy.png Please take a look at the deletion request again, people are making judgments and assuming bad faith which is causing them to do this. They are saying its not safe to keep that picture while there is more that dozens of pictures of other trophies but instead of deleting those, they are going after this. Which is a replica picture, because the icc doesn't give the original trophy away and replicas/copys cant have copyrights. So please explain them that! and if its not free then tell them to find it where the user has taken it from. Sorry - new user being overkeen. I still think that the citation requests I inserted in the introduction and the grapes section are appropriate. Having looked at the Chaffey and Harvey citations more carefully, I'm happy to admit that my citation requests were superfluous. Sorry for being over-active with my 'citation needed' tag - I didn't mean to be disruptive. Other articles I've watched approach FA status (eg.
