Hi Diannaa,

I think there may be a misunderstanding. I noted you sent me this warning after removing the following passage from the article.

Through a multidisciplinary program of exhibitions, events, and educational outreach, the center's mission is to engage visitors in a dialogue with the depth and diversity of the current American cultural scene.

I was not the editor that added that information. It pre-existed my edits. I added the information about the venue's closure and also reworded the lead paragraph and rearranged that pre-existing text and cited reference. Am I missing something here? Great Lakes megalopolis[edit]

You'd think that the first two words; "Great Lakes" would be self explanatory in the Night Heat article. Jaiquiero (talk) 01:07, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

An "unnamed northeastern North American metropolis" does not necessarily equate to a city situated within the Great Lakes megalopolis specifically. For example, check out the article on the Northeast megalopolis, which includes such northeastern US cities as New York City, Boston, Philadelphia and Baltimore, none of which fall within the Great Lakes megalopolis, but are nonetheless northeastern North American metropoli.

The cited references for that sentence are all from Newspapers.com and NewspaperArchive.com, which you can access via the Wikipedia Library and state the following:

This article the Winnipeg Free Press states that both Night Heat and fellow Canadian series Adderly, which was also broadcast in the US, "must take care that the city is not identifiable. . .[and must] avoid recognizable Toronto landmarks, police cars and Esso stations."
This article from the The Pittsburgh Press says: "It could be any big Eastern US City."
This article from the Press and Sun-Bulletin of Binghamton, New York, refers to an "unidentified Northeast city."
And there is also this article from The Morning Call, which was not cited in the Wikipedia article that says: "The city is unnamed, but [series creator] Sonny Grosso makes no bones about it being Manhattan," which would fall outside of the Great Lakes megalopolis as well.

Unless you have reliable sources to support that the creators of the show intended their city to represent a city within the Great Lakes megalopolis specifically, this would constitute original research. Marchije•^speak/_peek 04:00, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It is where the show was physically shot, but the sentence is referencing the city in which the story of the show takes place, not where it was shot. Many American movies and television shows are shot in Toronto, but they often state they are in another city in the storyline of those shows — one example of this would be the TV show Suits, where the story of the show explicitly takes place in New York City. With Night Heat the decision was made to make it an unnamed city, and apparently one of the creators even claimed he had Manhattan in mind, and Manhattan doesn't fall within the Great Lakes megalopolis.
