2013 IIHF

Hey, totally missed your post at first, odd with the new notification thing. ;) For me it was still over two-lines AFTER your edit, so it changed nothing for me. That it is split over two-lines happens all the time so it's not a big problem anymore. I never saw your edit made before and it did not change anything for me (and maybe others), i reverted it. It has something to do with the resolution from the users, so we should keep it, how it is. That games is not the only one with a goal over two-lines, it's at every game for me, so it's ok. In this case it's highly dependent on the screen resolution the reader is sitting in front of. I think, at least, that we both can agree it's a bit annoying – that's why I tried fixing it (at least it got fixed on my screen). But there are worse cases than this one; I just took a look at Switzerland-Kazakhstan from the 2012 IIHF World Championship article and that game summary features two two-line cases. But I would be happy if there is a way to avoid the problem on most (if not all) screens. Best regards, HeyMid (contribs) 17:49, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Few years ago i tried to fix it to have it "right" for my screen but was told that it was "right". I don't know how to avoid that and yeah, it's pretty annoying. Maybe start a discussion on the hockey project page? Kante4 (talk) 17:56, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Good suggestion! Bringing this issue to WP:HOCKEY's attention is a good idea. I might consider starting a discussion there. Perhaps something can be modified in the template itself, without breaking it, or something with font size or alignment. Best regards, HeyMid (contribs) 18:15, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
;) Drop me a message when it's done, i will check it and give my 2 cents to the topic when i get time for that (Exams in the next weeks). Kante4 (talk) 18:35, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Done: Thread posted at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey#Double-line issues with Template:IceHockeybox. Best regards, HeyMid (contribs) 19:36, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Looks good. Will keep an eye on it, thanks. Kante4 (talk) 19:38, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
I think the best solution, judging from the responses in the thread so far, is to add <span style="white-space:nowrap"> to the double-line goals. It actually works very well. Also, do you have your browser window full-sized or something closer to half-sized? HeyMid (contribs) 20:25, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
I have it on 1024x7something. The thing is, at every game there is a two-line goal at least, so that solution is nothing "for me" i have to say. Kante4 (talk) 21:05, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
While it does work for me, it would also be kind of annoying to add that piece of code on so many rows. Perhaps it may be implemented in the template somehow, then. And I don't think removing assists is a good idea, because the game summary links may get broken in the future. HeyMid (contribs) 21:11, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Yep, removing it is not an option in my eyes. And adding it would blew the article(s) just even more. Something with the template would be good like you said. Kante4 (talk) 21:19, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Dude stole my RfC!

Quick note to say that I found this amusing. I'm not annoyed, just slightly surprised. I've never had someone grab an RfC I've drafted to post it!

Ultimately, it was probably the right thing to do, as I was being a little slow. Let's hope this RfC achieves some kind of consensus!

Kudos to you for seeking consensus. NickCT (talk) 16:31, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

I wanted to start the RfC now because I believe we need to come up with a consensus, given the amount of edit-warring and discussion on this dispute. I hope the RfC will make it easier to reach a consensus. Best regards, HeyMid (contribs) 20:12, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
