Removing talkpage comments

I don't really see what the issue was with those talkpage comments. Nothing I saw warranted removal, am I just not seeing what you are seeing there? Mako001 (C)  (T)  🇺🇦 01:01, 29 January 2023 (UTC)

Lots of them were just the editor saying things they had already said in their edit summaries on the actual article, e.g. the Liz Truss section, or just them getting frustrated and putting it on the talk page, e.g. the Glitch section. Furthermore, I also explained many of the things they had said there in my edit summaries. greyzxq talk 01:06, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
I'd have two questions though:
Does leaving them there violate any rules?
Is it worthwhile removing them if it is only going to escalate the situation? Mako001 (C)  (T)  🇺🇦 01:11, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
Of course it wasn’t my intention to escalate the situation, and I was hoping that by now the editor would have understood, but they just don’t. I’ll leave it to you to decide whether or not to remove the stuff from the talk page, because after everything I’m not sure whether it would be right for me to make the decision., and I’m not 100% sure on the rules for talk pages. greyzxq talk 01:16, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
Well, removing those comments was against the rules for talkpages. You should only remove content which violates WP:NOTFORUM (full rules are here). But hey, we all make mistakes. You handled their personal attacks quite well. Sure they were technically correct, but they shouldn't have gone about spouting off like that. Even though you did break the rules, they are defintely closer to a block than you. You may also want to read Wikipedia:Edit war, which applies to all pages, not just articles. Anyway, cheerio and happy editing! 🙂 Mako001 (C)  (T)  🇺🇦 01:25, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the help, and the main reason I did remove at least some of them was beacuse they weren't really discussions, like said on WP:NOTFORUM. greyzxq talk 01:30, 29 January 2023 (UTC)

Dead links

Can you stop sending me links? Your putting links in your edit summaries, and every time I click on it, it says that there’s an error, and my phone crashes.

If your trying to spam me, or hack my phone, Stop immediately!

Also, according to many online polls & statistics, Danish people have a 15% higher iQ level than British people, and a 32% higher iQ level than Americans. So I think it’s maybe a better idea if I then takeover your work, and you just do the fixing typo’s and such. Does that sound like a good plan?

2A02:A44C:6682:1:41D9:C9CB:C73:4E94 (talk) 14:05, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

About the links, i don’t know why you can’t see them, but that’s not my problem. About all this "IQ" and "taking over my work"… no. that's not how it works. greyzxq talk 15:13, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
@Greyzxq (talk · contribs) Excuse me? The links ARE your problem, your the one who sent them to me.
How about you stop being rude and take the blame, because YOU sent me the links…
If you met me in real life, you wouldn’t dare be rude to me, so stop being snarky.
After all, pride always comes before a BIG downfall, so watch your tone, Grey.

No, it's not my problem. It's your device that's crashing and I can't fix that. Maybe try using a different device, because I can easily access all the links I have sent. greyzxq talk 15:53, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
@Greyzxq (talk · contribs) My device here is just shy of 2 months old, so it’s brand spanking new. There is no way my device is the problem.

@Greyzxq (talk · contribs) Those links in your edit summaries.
The iQ facts are just that, facts… no need to be offended by it. Norway & Iceland are higher iQ than Denmark, but I’m not at all offended.
And those links you send, are they British, American or Australian? In Denmark links are protected
And btw, it seems you have chosen to be my Wikipedia “helicopter parent” for some reason. I’m not sure how English people are, but in Scandinavian culture suppression is frowned upon 2A02:A44C:6682:1:41D9:C9CB:C73:4E94 (talk) 18:06, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

@Greyzxq (talk · contribs) I just want to say this real quick;
I have been editing Wikipedia articles for 8 years now, I started at age 12.
And it was fun at first, but as time goes on, it’s becoming ever the less fun.
These past weeks I’ve been working my … off, trying to make Wikipedia a better place.
And every single time, instead of getting compliments, I get shunned, told off, discriminated against, etc…
Even though I’ve done SO Much work, for instace; correcting grammar, fixing typo’s, adding information, making tables, respecting cultural differences, etc…
And still, every good idea of mine gets shot down…
And why? Because I’m not British or American, and in your alls eyes I’m useless ! Because you all are too racist and sexist to accept that, American & British men aren’t the only ones who are aloud to do stuff. Others too! Regardless of who they are.
And then you all act so surprised when I get angry,
2A02:A44C:6682:1:41D9:C9CB:C73:4E94 (talk) 20:08, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
I am not racist or sexist? I have no idea where you got that idea from, but I'm not removing your edits because of your gender, race or nationality. Every time I remove your edits I give reasons, but every time you just ignore them, and I'm getting tired of it. greyzxq talk 20:43, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
@Greyzxq (talk · contribs) Well I’m tired of you, and your bigotry.
I’m tired of people, and tired of life! To be quite honest.
Here are 2 VERY TRUE golden rules:
1. No good deed goes unpunished!
2. The one who cries the loudest, is the one with the most baggage!
You saying that your not a nationalist, is like me saying that clouds aren’t white.
I’ll just remove EVERY SINGLE EDIT I made, that way, I won’t break my phone screen, Again.

Again, I have no idea where you've got the idea that I'm a bigot and nationalist from, but I always try to edit from a neutral POV. Furthermore, I don't think you're stupid, and I also don't know where you got that idea from. greyzxq talk 21:12, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
@Greyzxq (talk · contribs) you can say whatever you want, but I know what you think.
And just that you know, I don’t care what you think of me.
On your article about Strep A, I’m going to remove the entire “Response” section, because that section was my idea. I introduced the political response & public response.
Fortunately I have done minimal work for your article.
I have better things to do, than waste my time on your immature & incorrect article.
2A02:A44C:6682:1:41D9:C9CB:C73:4E94 (talk) 21:19, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

2A02:A44C:6682:1:41D9:C9CB:C73:4E94 (talk) 21:23, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
I didn't get "told off", it was just another editor asking why. You don't get "told off" on Wikipedia. And you clearly don't know what I think. Furthermore, there's no point removing the Response section in the Strep A article, it's unnecessary and I'll just restore it. greyzxq talk 21:30, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

Empty categories

Hello, Greyzxq,

I see you created a lot of new categories on parishes. Every day, there is a list of empty categories that is issued and the categories are tagged for speedy deletion, CSD C1. Right now, the list is overwhelmed with hundreds of empty categories created by an editor who is now indefinitely blocked so that is taking up my time. But please work on filling these categories with appropriate articles or you will find your talk page filled with CSD C1 notices informing you that if they are still empty in 7 days, they will be deleted. CSD gives category creators a week to ensure that a category is no longer empty, otherwise it is deleted. Of course, should an empty category be deleted, it can always be restored whenever it will actually be in use.

But I just thought I'd give you a head's up on all of these empty categories. In general, it's best not to create categories before they will be used or we go through the ritual of tagging and perhaps untagging them. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:22, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

Okay, thanks for letting me know. I'll work on it over the next few days. greyzxq talk 11:43, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

Categories

Hello, Greyzxq,

When do you expect these redirect categories to be populated? It's been a few days now and they are still empty. If they continue to be empty, I'll consider tagging them again later this week. If they are deleted as empty categories, they can always be restored later if they are needed. Liz Read! Talk! 18:54, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

You can also tag them with {{emptycat}} if you don't expect them to ever be filled. Liz Read! Talk! 18:58, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
I have tagged most of them with emptycat, but I will remove those templates when the pages finally show. greyzxq talk 19:03, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
Hi Liz,
I don't know when they will be filled, but there are definitely pages for them because that's where I've been getting the languages from. On the pages I'm talking about the categories have been added, see Aligue for example, they just aren't showing up in the category itself. greyzxq talk 19:00, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
I'm gonna go through the redirects I know of and add rcat shells if they don't have them to see if a new edit changes anything. greyzxq talk 19:17, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

Parenthetical disambiguation

Hello. I noticed you have been moving pages about churches with parenthetical disambiguators, such as First Presbyterian Church (Manhattan), to those with comma-separated disambiguators like First Presbyterian Church, Manhattan, with the edit summary "Remove unnecessary parentheses/disambiguator".

Please do not do that, because parenthetical disambiguation is indeed correct per our WP:NCDAB guideline. Furthermore, in the United States, comma-separated disambiguators are reserved for localities like Turtle Bay, Manhattan, as per WP:USPLACE. Since the First Presbyterian Church is a structure, rather than a locality, it should use a parenthetical disambiguator, not a comma-separated disambiguator. – Epicgenius (talk) 22:53, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

I moved them after looking at WP:PLACEDAB, which isn't very clear but only says stuff about parenthetical disambiguators for natural features and large subdivisions. Also, WP:NCDAB doesn't say anything about it in this context unless I've missed something. greyzxq talk 22:59, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
What I meant to say was that NCDAB does allow parentheses in such contexts, i.e. Parenthetical disambiguation - A disambiguating word or phrase can be added in parentheses. You're right that PLACEDAB is a bit vague, but I think that applies only to articles about geographical features. Almost all structures in the US are disambiguated using parentheses, though; for consistency, these churches should use parenthetical disambiguators. – Epicgenius (talk) 00:48, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
Ok, if you wish to revert these moves than that's fine. Would this exception also apply to Canada, or is it okay if I move Canada pages with parenthetical disambiguators? greyzxq talk 01:23, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
I am not sure about the naming conventions for Canadian articles, but, looking at categories like Category:Churches in Toronto and Category:Churches in Montreal, it appears that Canada also uses parenthetical disambiguators consistently. – Epicgenius (talk) 13:19, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Brighton

Hi,I was wondering why (City in England ) had been removed from Brighton on front page. Can you help please. 78.86.3.254 (talk) 10:21, 11 April 2023 (UTC) Also what do you think of the new distribution, I think it’s a lot less confusion. 78.86.3.254 (talk) 10:23, 11 April 2023 (UTC) Sorry description 😁 78.86.3.254 (talk) 10:24, 11 April 2023 (UTC) I’m new so if you could also help me with linking City and unitary authority I’d appreciate that 78.86.3.254 (talk) 10:45, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I'm going to revert your edits on Brighton because the previous description was better. greyzxq talk 12:40, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
I don’t think it’s better, it’s making people think Brighton isn’t a City even google earth has removed it from being a City,it no longer says City on front page so this needs sorting out 78.86.3.254 (talk) 12:45, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
How can we apply City in England back to the main page before entering the site 78.86.3.254 (talk) 12:48, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi Greyzxq. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. signed, Rosguill talk 04:05, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

Help with editing

Hi, I could use some help with editing as I am swamped with work. Things that I need help with are making infoboxes, added articles to disappeared lists, and adding sources to articles, I would be very thankful for any help that I could get. Davidgoodheart (talk) 17:38, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

Hi Davidgoodheart, I'd be happy to help you with adding infoboxes to articles if that's what you meant, just give me articles which need infoboxes and I'll be on it! greyzxq talk 19:54, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
Please make infoboxes for Paul André Beaulieu and David Hu (IIG). Davidgoodheart (talk) 20:05, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
Sorry, I'm afraid I can't because I don't really edit biographical articles and have little knowledge on the articles' topics. greyzxq talk 20:15, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
OK then, do you think that you could help me add entries to disappeared lists? That would be very helpful. Davidgoodheart (talk) 20:27, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
What do you mean by 'disappeared lists'? greyzxq talk 20:29, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
Lists such as these: List of kidnappings, List of solved missing person cases: post-2000, and List of people who disappeared mysteriously: 1990–present. Davidgoodheart (talk) 20:38, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
I'm not really sure how I could help you with adding stuff to lists. greyzxq talk 20:59, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

Eleri Ward clarification

Just to quickly clarify: I made Draft:Eleri Ward, a reviewer accidentally published it to mainspace before I was finished, so I moved it back to draftspace to finish it up, hence the redirect. I don't mind necessary maintenance being done, I just want to make sure the article doesn't end up with an unnecessary deletion tag when I eventually publish it again. Invisiboy42293 (talk) 22:23, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

It won't, it's just that redirects to the Draft namespace are prohibited. After it is republished to the mainspace it should be fine :) greyzxq talk 22:30, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Adobe's

Hello Greyzxq. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Adobe's, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: R3: not sufficiently implausible, but you could try WP:RFD. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 18:08, 6 May 2023 (UTC)

Don't understand advice on redirects

Thanks for cleaning up my Takanawa okido redirects but your message is cryptic. I don't know if there's a way to reach you other than a comment like this so please forgive. However: what did I do wrong, what was the right thing to do, and how is the difference an improvement? Sorry to have caused trouble.Swiss Frank (talk) 18:15, 6 May 2023 (UTC)

You did nothing wrong! I was just adding an rcat (redirect category) so it's easier for other editors to see why the redirect is needed. Also, this is the best way to reach other editors so don't worry! greyzxq talk 18:18, 6 May 2023 (UTC)

Sun Postal Sports and Social Club

Sun Postal Sports and Social Club and Sun Sports Watford F.C. what is the difference?

Meter and metre

You added that Sotadean meter (a redirect page) is there because it is a misspelling. It isn't a misspelling actually, merely an American spelling. Perhaps this isn't important of course. Kanjuzi (talk) 22:01, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

In British English, meter and metre have different meanings. Metre is a unit of length (as in metre) and meter is a measuring device (as in measuring instrument). However, in this context I'm not sure if it is a misspelling or just a dialect difference. greyzxq talk 22:11, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Nagol0929, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Barron Lake (Labrador), for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Nagol0929}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023

Hello Harrz,

New Page Review queue April to June 2023

Backlog

Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.

Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.

Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.

You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.

Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

New pages patrol newsletter

Hello Harrz,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

That was not intentional, I was messing with your wikified html and my dumbass muscle memory saved my edits once i was done. Sorry for polluting your user page's history. CodemWiki (talk) 19:32, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Talk:2022 Bermondsey stabbing

Hello Greyzxq. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Talk:2022 Bermondsey stabbing, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Talk pages of redirects do not fall under G8. Thank you. BangJan1999 22:37, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
