Question from Dall'Abaco (21:01, 30 November 2023)

Hello, I'm trying to prepare a new article and started it in my sandbox - would you take a look? Is it all right to start that way?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dall%27Abaco/sandbox --Dall'Abaco (talk) 21:01, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

@Dall'Abaco: thanks for reaching out! Your article is fine for a start... but to be published, you would need to demonstrate notability by showing the subject has significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. You currently do not have any such sources in the article. Please let me know if you have any more questions! Elli (talk | contribs) 06:03, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Question from Joshua Arciga Reyna (10:10, 30 November 2023)

I want a Wikipedia about me Joshua Arciga Reyna and my friend Donald Trump --Joshua Arciga Reyna (talk) 10:10, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

@Joshua Arciga Reyna: Hi, I'm not quite sure what you're asking? Donald Trump already has an article. Writing about yourself is strongly discouraged, but if you meet our notability guidelines for people, you could request an article be written about you. Please let me know if I can help further. Question from Devoidstar (05:59, 1 December 2023)

Hi, I made a few changes yesterday, however it seems they were changed back. I still don't understand how to contribute information to a page and why were the changes reverted. --Devoidstar (talk) 05:59, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

@Devoidstar: thanks for reaching out. Your edit was reverted because it cited [1], which doesn't seem to be a reliable source and instead appears to be a spam website that does not belong on Wikipedia. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Elli (talk | contribs) 06:06, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

working on a new article

Dear Elli, recently I've added some sources - would you please check if they are relevant?

User:Dall'Abaco/sandbox

looking forward to getting your comments, and thank you very much!

Dall'Abaco (talk) 09:42, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

@Dall'Abaco: sure.
The first source, Russian Cello Quartet Performs in the Keys, is might be reliable but would not be considered independent, as it is contributed content (so not created by the newspaper itself, which makes reliability less clear) and the author is an associate of the Florida Keys Concert Association Board of Directors.
I can't access the second source, so if you would like me to analyze it, you'd need to send me a copy somehow.
Not sure about the mundoclasico as I can't read Spanish but it appears it might not be high-quality enough for notability, as it seems like they might allow you to pay for reviews (see their contact page)? However, there are some citations to the site in other Wikipedia pages, so I'm not sure about that.
The fourth source, in The Irish Times, is great. It's somewhat short, but it's exactly the sort of high-quality source we'd want here.
Source five, in the Herald-Tribune, also looks pretty good; it's local media but pretty in-depth. Source six looks good as well, except it's by the same author as source five, a few years later, and he claims Although friends had raved about the Rastrelli Cello Quartet, I had not yet had the honor of hearing them in concert. which is a bit weird: did he forget about reviewing them a few years ago?
Anyway, I'd say look for more sources like 4, 5, and 6. I'm not that experienced in writing articles on musical acts, but I hope my analysis here could be helpful, and please feel free to ask me if you have more questions. Elli (talk | contribs) 18:47, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

Ian Miles Cheong draft

Hi there, I noticed you created a draft sometime ago for Ian Miles Cheong, but was later deleted. Is there anything left of it? There are now more articles with significant coverage since 2021 that may well pass WP:GNG. CommunityNotesContributor (talk) 14:29, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

@CommunityNotesContributor: hi; I deleted the draft after seeing these two AfD discussions. I don't recall exactly which sources were in my draft, but they weren't sufficient to demonstrate notability, even combining them with the sources shown at the second AfD. The draft was only a few sentences though, so not much was lost in deletion. I wouldn't mind if you asked an admin to email you a copy of the draft if you want to see it, though. Question from JohnCWiesenthal on Get Out of Jail Free card (22:32, 12 December 2023)

Concerning this edit, File:Get out of jail free.jpg fails WP:NFCC#1 which requires non-free content to have no free equivalent (in this case, c:File:Monopoly - Get Out of Jail Free Chance card (2008).jpg and c:File:Monopoly - Get Out of Jail Free Community Chest card (2008).jpg). JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 22:32, 12 December 2023 (UTC)

@JohnCWiesenthal: I'm fully aware of the NFCC. I disagree that the images you used were an "equivalent". This is the card in the original version of the game and the one the vast majority of people would associate with the concept. I could write "get out of jail free" on a piece of paper and take a picture of it, but that wouldn't be a "free equivalent" either. Elli (talk | contribs) 23:58, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
I have just listed File:Get out of jail free.jpg at WP:FFD for further, more open discussion (see WP:Files for discussion/2023 December 13#File:Get out of jail free.jpg). JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 00:15, 13 December 2023 (UTC)

Question from Dall'Abaco (00:45, 14 December 2023)

Dear Elli, I've added some words about the quartet:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dall%27Abaco/sandbox#The_Rastrelli_Cello_Quartet

Perhaps there will be some more details which I could add. For now - could I publish it as it is? How does it work?

Thank you! --Dall'Abaco (talk) 00:45, 14 December 2023 (UTC)

@Dall'Abaco: hi; the problem is, the details you've added aren't reliably sourced. You need to have a citation for all of the information you add. And again, you should not just list the reviews, you should give some summary of them in prose. Elli (talk | contribs) 01:39, 14 December 2023 (UTC)

On 16 December 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 1964 Illinois House of Representatives election, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 1964, Illinoisans cast more than 500 million votes in one election? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/1964 Illinois House of Representatives election. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, 1964 Illinois House of Representatives election), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Question from Cerulean Depths (22:41, 19 December 2023)

Hey Elli, I found a section of the Sector (instrument) page which has some problems. In the section titled "The metallic lines" (which is weird phrasing by itself), there appears to be an instructional section written in a non-encyclopedic way. I think that it was translated from a text by Galileo but presented as fresh text. So I'm not sure if that counts as copyright violation as it is so old, or should just be removed since WP shouldn't contain how-to guides. Let me know what you think. --Cerulean Depths (talk) 22:41, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

Sorry, I should say that the whole article is written similarly. Cerulean Depths (talk) 22:50, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
@Cerulean Depths: hi! Nothing from the 1600s could be a copyright violation as all such works are in the public domain, though it should still be properly cited of course. Agree that the article has some poor writing which should probably be removed or rewritten; feel free to do so. Elli (talk | contribs) 04:17, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

I am asking you to revert your close and reopen the discussion. It was left open a long time and nobody thought to close it until three curt 'support' votes popped up in the last few days. I'd like a chance to respond. Srnec (talk) 21:24, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

@Srnec: Do you think you'd be able to refute the arguments around page views and use in literature? I'd be alright with reopening (though it's annoying to move the page back) but only if there's actually a good chance of the discussion going your way (also noting that I closed this over seven days after the relist, at which point the count was 4:2 and, imo, the arguments in favor of moving stronger). Elli (talk | contribs) 21:37, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
Compare the pageviews given by the nominator with these. I swapped out the Battle of Baghdad (946) for the Battle of Baghdad (2003), which, as the lead says, is also called the "fall of Baghdad" (and I could produce sources calling it a siege). Even if the siege of 1258 were the primary topic for "Siege of Baghdad", that alone does not indicate that that should be the title of the article. My argument was precisely that "Siege of Baghdad" does not rise to the level of a recognizable name on its own because of alternative contenders like "fall", "sack" and "capture". For example:
So, in short, I'm not disputing the relative importance of the 1258 event but the wisdom of dropping "1258" from the title. Srnec (talk) 00:17, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
@Srnec: So... I don't see there being a consensus to keep "1258" in the title if it's determined that this event was the primary topic. That just isn't how page titling tends to be done?
This does seem to indicate that the article 1258 event gets about half of the pageviews of all the sieges/battles/falls/captures. Which makes it pretty debatable whether it's the primary topic. I somewhat doubt that a reopened discussion would get a different result given what you've presented, but you have presented some decent evidence. Do you still want me to reopen it? (I will if so.) Elli (talk | contribs) 00:27, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
Yes, thanks. Srnec (talk) 03:15, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
Alright, I've reopened it. Elli (talk | contribs) 03:28, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from Eliasorggro (15:47, 21 January 2024)

Hello,

I hope you're well. I'm currently working on modifying an existing template and creating a new one. Specifically, I'm looking to modify the template "Template:Infobox probability distribution" and create a new infobox template for Stochastic process.

I came across this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Designing_infoboxes, which provides information on designing infoboxes. However, it appears that the template is built with Lua. While I have some programming skills, the article suggests using a sandbox for customization, and I find myself a bit confused.

Could you please assist me with this? --Eliasorggro (talk) 15:47, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

@Eliasorggro: Sure!
For Template:Infobox probability distribution, its sandbox is located at Template:Infobox probability distribution/sandbox; you're free to edit that page to test out any changes. While infoboxes are based on a Lua module, you usually shouldn't need to modify the Lua itself to make a new infobox format or modify an existing one.
As for your new infobox, you can just create a new template. You do need to be autoconfirmed to do so, but that happens pretty quickly. Though, are you sure your new infobox is necessary? There's been a recent-ish trend towards having fewer separate infobox templates, so you'll want to make sure the one you want to create isn't redundant.

Welcome to the club

The Featured Article Medal
By the authority vested in me by myself it gives me great pleasure to present you with this special, very exclusive award created just for we few, we happy few, this band of brothers, who have shed sweat, tears and probably blood, in order to be able to proudly claim "I too have taken an article to Featured status". Gog the Mild (talk) 11:59, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
@Gog the Mild: thanks! Also want to thank Buidhe and Vaticidalprophet, who helped convince me the process wasn't too intimidating, and of course all the reviewers here. Elli (talk | contribs) 16:09, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
Out of interest, was it intimidating? Gog the Mild (talk) 16:12, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
@Gog the Mild: It initially seemed to me like kinda an unapproachable process? But actually going through it wasn't that bad at all and it was pretty cool to get my article looked at by so many sets of eyes. Elli (talk | contribs) 16:14, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
Good. All of that sounds pretty much like how it should be. Thanks for sharing. Gog the Mild (talk) 16:18, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
Congratulations! May you have many, many more FAs to come. :-) Edge3 (talk) 16:32, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

Congratulations, Elli! The article you nominated, 1964 Illinois House of Representatives election, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best articles on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured article. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Gog the Mild (talk) via FACBot (talk) 12:05, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

A reminder that as well as nominating this for TFA - perhaps for November 3 - you can now apply for a Four Award. Gog the Mild (talk) 16:33, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

Yeah, my plan has been to try to run it on that date. Applied for the four award as well. Elli (talk | contribs) 16:37, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
@Gog the Mild: looking into this more, it seems like you're generally only supposed to request dates that are up to a month out. Would it be acceptable to request November 3rd now, or should I wait until October to do so? Elli (talk | contribs) 18:36, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
List it here - Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/pending. This doesn't guarantee the date, but close to. Gog the Mild (talk) 19:56, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
Ah; added an entry there. Elli (talk | contribs) 19:59, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

Illinois government

Nice work on 1964 Illinois House of Representatives election! We don't always have great coverage of state government, so I'm glad you specialize in this area. I happen to also have an Illinois-related FAC at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/City of Champaign v. Madigan/archive1. If you have time, your input is much appreciated! Edge3 (talk) 23:08, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

@Edge3: I'll give it a look. Haven't ever reviewed at FAC either, but I'll see what I can do.
Also would love to collaborate with you on an article at some point; after getting into the rabbit hole on that election I've become enthralled with mid-20th-century Illinois politics (Draft:1954 Illinois legislative apportionment amendment is probably my next project, if I can find enough sourcing... which should be possible). Elli (talk | contribs) 23:12, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Illinois politics is very fascinating! Happy to collaborate with you on that article or others. Edge3 (talk) 23:48, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Gog the Mild (talk) 12:00, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
@Edge3: so I should be ready to start working on this in the next few days. How would you feel about working on the background and legislative history, while I could do the campaign, results, and aftermath? (worth noting there is a good bit of overlap in some of these topics with the 1964 Illinois House of Representatives election, of course, but we can definitely go into more detail on those things at the amendment article) Elli (talk | contribs) 17:32, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
I'd be fine with whatever timeline you propose. However, as you know, I have an open FAC for the City of Champaign case, so I may need to step out once in a while to address any remaining issues. Edge3 (talk) 17:45, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
@Edge3: Yeah, no rush on it at all. (Also just started another semester at college, so I can't guarantee any specific timeline on my end either.) Am more just trying to figure out which parts of the article we should each do. Elli (talk | contribs) 17:52, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
Sounds like a plan. By the way, I also have another project coming down the pipeline. I just realized that the 20-year anniversary of the Dave Matthews Band Chicago River incident is coming in August, so I might try to get that fast-tracked to FAC.
Might as well ping @Gog the Mild now to see if an August TFA is a realistic goal. Edge3 (talk) 17:57, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
Ooh, that should be a fun one. Elli (talk | contribs) 18:09, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
Yuk! As it happens I will be scheduling August. Which will help but does not guarantee that you will get a TFA slot, even if the article is promoted. I would like to wrap up the schedule by the end of June. (This may stretch another 7-10 days if the FAC is obviously in the home stretch.) Allowing 5-6 weeks for FAC, you need have it at FAC by c. 20 May. so 15 weeks to get it up to scratch. Piece of cake. A good person to beg an early copy edit - "what have we missed?" off would be SchroCat. Remind me of this in early May please. Gog the Mild (talk) 18:18, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

how do I add/insert an infobox, with the quick facts and stuff? --Bigbrainsoldier (talk) 00:03, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

@Bigbrainsoldier: hi! There's various infobox templates you can use depending on the type of article; there is a list at Wikipedia:List of infoboxes. The fact was ... that in one neighborhood commission district, the voters and officeholders are all inmates at the D.C. Jail? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Advisory Neighborhood Commission district 7F08. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Advisory Neighborhood Commission district 7F08), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Question from Historian 2400 (23:29, 3 February 2024)

Hi, I'm a student going for a master's degree in history. I have to edit a history article for one of my classes. I'm new to this site and I'm wondering what I'm supposed to do on the "Choose an Article" page. Do I link the article under article title? How do I mark it as complete and/or assign the article to myself? Thank you for your assistance. --Historian 2400 (talk) 23:29, 3 February 2024 (UTC)

@Historian 2400: hi. I'm assuming this is a WikiEd thing? I'm not sure exactly how that procedure goes; I'd suggest checking in with your professor.
If you have any questions about how to edit pages, I'd be happy to help, though. But I'm not well-versed with the WikiEd interface. Elli (talk | contribs) 00:42, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Question from Godotalgorithm (21:18, 5 February 2024)

Hi, while I do intend to make various math/chemistry/physics related contributions to Wikipedia on an infrequent basis, my immediate reason for creating this account is to correct factual information on a Wikipedia entry for which I have a COI (MOPAC). I've read the Wikipedia COI guidelines, which are a bit confusing, and by my parsing of them, I'm keeping my direct edits there to a minimum. Instead, I've made a list of COI edit requests on the entry's talk page. Is this the appropriate way to proceed, or are my suggested edits mundane enough that I can make them myself? --Godotalgorithm (talk) 21:18, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

@Godotalgorithm: thanks for reaching out and I very much appreciate your compliance with our COI guidelines. I'd suggest providing some reliable sources for much of the info you want updated as it's unlikely that your request will be acted upon without them. Your changes, especially the first few that you've suggested, probably don't need an edit request, but will need sources in either case. If you provide a source, I'll look at implementing the changes myself. Elli (talk | contribs) 21:22, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
I added sources for the dates that I mentioned, and I'm not clear what else needs more sourcing.
If there are generally issues with quality/quantity of sources here, then perhaps I should simply be requesting the removal of inaccurate information that itself doesn't have a reliable source rather than updating information. It is the presence of inaccurate information rather than the absence of accurate information that is my primary concern here. In particular, some MOPAC users have been confused about the status of MOPAC's software license, what the most up-to-date version is, and where they should go to download up-to-date versions. I suspect that this partially out-of-date Wikipedia entry is contributing to user confusion. Godotalgorithm (talk) 23:47, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
@Godotalgorithm: ah, I see what you mean.
Would you be willing to draft a version of the page at User:Godotalgorithm/sandbox in-line with what you think would be best? Copy the page's source (excluding the category at the bottom), make the edits you'd make, and save it there. Elli (talk | contribs) 23:50, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
Sure, I'll get back to you in a few days with a draft. I was originally intending to rewrite the MOPAC page before I realized that would be inappropriate for COI reasons without additional editorial oversight. Godotalgorithm (talk) 16:42, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
Hello again, I've heavily revised the MOPAC entry in my sandbox to the standard of what I would consider to be a good quality Wikipedia entry on computational chemistry software. Most of the new content was added in one monolithic change, but every instance of removing old content was done more incrementally, and I explained either where that information is retained in the new version (most of it) or why I don't think it belongs in the new version (a few isolated bits of information that are no longer relevant). Should I take further action such as "submit my draft for review", or will you act on this in some way? I also added a note to the MOPAC talk page about the existence of my sandbox version as a COI edit request. Godotalgorithm (talk) 06:03, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
@Godotalgorithm: I'll take a look at it tomorrow; you shouldn't need to do anything else. Elli (talk | contribs) 06:23, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
@Godotalgorithm: your version looks mostly fine? I would suggest moving most of the details about how the program works and what it does out of the lead and into the body; the lead isn't really supposed to have info that isn't repeated in the body (it's just supposed to be a summary) and I would expect a page like this to have a short lead. Not necessary but would improve readability, especially to non-experts. Elli (talk | contribs) 14:13, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
I've moved the basic description of its functionality to a separate section. Because the history section is a bit long, I added a short summary of it to the lead. I think there will be a lot of cases where people would be interested in a brief summary of the history but not the more detailed description.
I need to develop a better sense of how to partition the lead from the body and when to add redundant, summarizing information. Godotalgorithm (talk) 15:56, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

Question from Flightbook (19:00, 6 February 2024)

Hi Eli. I just saw that you were assigned my mentor. I spent a week or two trying to generate a document in my Sandbox and uploading it for review. The iinstructional videos on YouTube were not consistent and I probably messed up on attempting the entries above. In any case, I received a notice this morning that I was blocked until August!?! which puts an end to my efforts. When I entered my IP address in the link to explore reasons for blockage, nothing came up. Is there some other way to find out what this is all about? Thanks, --Flightbook (talk) 19:00, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

@Flightbook: you don't appear to have ever been blocked. Your IP might have been caught in an autoblock, especially if you are editing on a shared network.
Were you previously editing under a different account? I can't find your old sandbox. Elli (talk | contribs) 19:05, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks, Elli. My login was Flightbook, and I had 3 Sandbox pages: Sandbox, Sandbox2, and Sandbox3. The latter two sandboxes were to store the document in case the submission was lost when interacting with the user interface... After attempting to upload the document to a Draft space for review, the user interface would not work, indicating that I had no references (despite ~15 references being cited in the work). At a roadblock, I then uploaded the document to Mainspace with a note requesting "Please review." Prior to uploading, I renamed the article "Serafin Garcia Menocal (Engineer), so as to not conflict with an existing stub with the same name. This is when the chaos started.... Flightbook (talk) 19:14, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
@Flightbook: ah. Your page still exists at Draft:Serafin Garcia Menocal (Engineer) and you should still be able to edit it there?
It didn't recognize the citations because you didn't cite them using <ref> tags, which is recommended. I suggest you read Wikipedia:Citing sources and use inline citations in your article. Please let me know if you need help with doing that. Elli (talk | contribs) 19:19, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks, Elli. That's very helpful. I will need to follow up with some additional questions if you are kind enough to enlighten me. But first a note: When I attempt to reply to your message on my cellphone (ie. Hit reply), that's what pops up a window that says "THIS IP ADDRESS HAS BEEN BLOCKED FROM EDITING WIKIPEDIA...etc. Then halfway down the nastygram it says "Block evasion: As per before" followed by.... This block will expire on 17:33, 7 August 2024.
Do you know why this would come up if I'm not blocked??? Flightbook (talk) 19:59, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
@Flightbook: Yes. Mobile phone networks are often blocked from editing. It doesn't indicate any wrongdoing on your part. If you need to edit on that network, you can request a IP block exemption. Elli (talk | contribs) 20:19, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you, Elli! Flightbook (talk) 00:09, 10 February 2024 (UTC)

Question from Flightbook (17:40, 9 February 2024)

Hi Elli. A few weeks back I made the mistake of uploading a document titled Serafin Garcia Menocal (Engineer) to the Mainspace with a request that it be reviewed. This caused the immediate reaction that it was pulled from the mainspace and placed in a "Draft" page of some kind. How do I get to that Draft page so that I can erase the contents? The original correspondence with the editors that took this action indicates that the comments are no longer there, so I don't have a paper trail of how to get back to wherever they deposited it.... Thanks --Flightbook (talk) 17:40, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Preexisting text on top of page I want to edit

Hi Elli, I would like to update an existing page on Wikipedia that has the following text on the top of the box:

{{Short description|Cuban Scout leader}}

{{Multiple issues|

{{Notability|1=Biographies|date=February 2024}}

{{Unreferenced|date=February 2024}}

{{

{{Use dmy dates|date=February 2021}}

It looks like these comments have been added by a reviewer (or some bot) at some time in the past, and I will be adding references and making many changes. Can I remove the above code before starting to edit the document? They clutter up the page and if these comments are coming from a reviewer, I would like to see the comments that apply to my real-time edits. Not get confused with comments that relate to some historical text that no longer applies.... Thanks! Flightbook (talk) 18:59, 10 February 2024 (UTC)

@Flightbook: those tags were added by a previous editor. You can remove them as long as you address the issues (if you remove them and don't address the issues, there's a good chance you'll be reverted).
The "Short description" and "Use dmy dates" should not be removed, of course. Elli (talk | contribs) 19:07, 10 February 2024 (UTC)

Draft review request

Hello. I made a page that was moved to draftspace due to not satisfying WP:NPROF. However I found secondary sources and not rely on publications to prove notability as in WP:NPROF and the person that moved it to draftspace admitted it satisfied WP:BIO afterwards, however he wasn't fit to review it and directed me to AfC submitting. If it is alright with you I would like to ask you to review it Draft:Yasin Şöhret. I would highly appreciate it. Thank you Serrwinner (talk) 19:42, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

@Serrwinner: thanks for reaching out. While it is a good idea to go through AfC for your first article, it is not necessary, and there is often a long wait for that process. If you believe the article would survive a deletion discussion in its current state, you can move it back to being an article. The second time that editor draftified your article was improper; draftification is supposed to happen at most once. Elli (talk | contribs) 15:47, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

hi, elli/mentor! while looking through my suggested page edits, i found this one that's almost certainly written by the subject herself (the article's creator uploaded the image and identified it as "own work") but i'm not sure if this violates any rules and, if so, what to do about it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandy_Grigsby --Locust Valley (talk) 08:24, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

@Locust Valley: thanks for reaching out and finding that page! While it's not technically a violation for someone to write an article about themselves, it's very strongly discouraged per WP:AUTOBIO. This page in particular looks pretty promotional and might not meet our notability guidelines. The correct thing to do here is to nominate it for deletion (which I am going to do now).
