Question from Saidmohamedmarketer on Kamougue Assoum (23:20, 13 January 2024)

Please secuty to page --Saidmohamedmarketer (talk) 23:20, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

Need help to valid an article.

Hi there, hope you're well. I wanted to talk to you about an article that I want to write about EUROPA STAR HBM which is a Swiss watch magazine. You refused me the article twice because it looked like i've been payed by EUROPA STAR HBM to redact the article. I just needed help to change things on the article that could possibly make it valid for wikipedia.

Thanks for the help ! Remi.apresdemain (talk) 08:43, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

@Remi.apresdemain: you need to start by disclosing your paid-editing status, as per the messages I've posted on your talk page.
Then, if you want to create a draft, you do that by summarising what reliable and independent secondary sources have said about the subject, citing those sources against the information they have provided. That gives you the draft content, referencing, and proof of notability in one go, as well as hopefully avoiding promotional tone or content. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:46, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
But, the problem is that im not affiliate to this company and I already mentioned externe references, I don't understand why the article is still not valid... Remi.apresdemain (talk) 09:01, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
Oh please, I'm looking at your website, where you list this publication among your clients!
Just make the paid-editing disclosure, it's not an optional extra, it is a hard requirement, and I shouldn't really have to keep asking. Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:20, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

About Draft:Auto rickshaw advertising - AI generated example in the wild? Keep and examine?

Hi DoubleGrazing,

This draft would appear to me to be an instance of AI generated content.

OK, so it's a kinda sorta WP:G11 candidate, but the tell that it's AI generated would appear the "Conclusion" section.

It would appear to me that there are any number of AI "conclusions" or "summary" generators out there in the wild.

Would it be OK with you to keep this, and examine it further?

Pete AU aka Shirt58 (talk) 🦘 09:39, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Hey @Shirt58: interesting, the thought didn't even cross my mind, on this occasion. I'm seeing more and more of content like this (with a 'conclusion' section, etc., as you say) at AfC, and sometimes I do check them, but either my spidey sense is completely off the mark or the tool I use isn't very good, as the result is invariably 'not AI'.
Yes of course, feel free to decline the speedy, no need to even let me know (although nice of you that you did). Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:56, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

references question for Draft:Yeshiva_Ohavei_Torah

Thank you for reviewing!

Could you help regarding _which_ qualities the references are lacking?

The "declined" message has a reminder that sources must be: in-depth, reliable, secondary, and independent. It's not obvious to me which of those are lacking. Both references cover the subject in several paragraphs. The publication (Yated Ne'eman) is a weekly news magazine, and not at all affiliated with subject. Though the publication has a religious affiliation, I believe it is reliable in the context of the small bit of information regarding this school.

Thanks again... Plumk (talk) 18:27, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Plumk:
For notability per WP:GNG, we need to see significant coverage of the subject in multiple independent and reliable secondary sources. Your draft only cites one source, Yated Ne'eman. Whether that's reliable and/or independent, I don't know, but I do know it is just one source. HTH, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:40, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
Got it, thanks! Plumk (talk) 18:43, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from Filminfonow on Nirmala kumari (13:15, 16 January 2024)

Where is my page Nirmala Kumari ? I just finished typing and attaching links to it but it has disappeared and I can’t seem to get back to it ?! Pls helppp --Filminfonow (talk) 13:15, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

@Filminfonow: I don't know. Your edit history shows only one edit, this question here on my talk page. I cannot find any articles or drafts on 'Nirmala Kumari' or 'Nirmala kumari'. I can only assume you didn't save your draft and may have lost your work? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:06, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

Request on 10:31:17, 17 January 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by Saffiraymond

Hi, please would it be possible to provide support on what material should be removed or how additional citations can be included. In writing this, I have detailed many sources to validate this articel (from reliable and trusted references) as I have looked to maintain credibility. Your help would be appreciated. I really want to get this published.

Saffiraymond (talk) 10:31, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

@Saffiraymond: this draft has been each time declined for insufficient referencing. Please read my 4 October comment, which explains this. TL;DNR = basically everything has to be clearly supported by inline citations to reliable sources. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:43, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
Appreciated the feedback here. Thank you. This has been takne into account in detail for our recent submission. Saffiraymond (talk) 17:18, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from me.

Why exactly did you decline my draft? Now asking you to re-review it but what do you mean "no reliable sources" this person is literally my great grandfather Yeghishedaviti (talk) 08:31, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

- and not only that. Whats is a notability guideline? Is a war participant not a hero? Is his contribution to the victory against fascism not considered notable? Correct me if I am misunderstood on the whole thing, but please atleast help me in anyway to atleast meet these "guidelines" which i am apparently not following. Yeghishedaviti (talk) 08:35, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
Sure, happy to help.
Firstly, reliable sources: your draft cites only one source, and that only once (at the very end). Even if that source genuinely supports all the information in the draft, it needs to be cited more than once, to make it clear to the reader where each bit of the information has come from.
Secondly, the subject being "literally [your] great grandfather": this creates a conflict of interest (see WP:COI), which means you ideally shouldn't be writing about this subject in the first place, and in any case need to formally disclose the COI, as detailed in the message I posted on your talk page.
Thirdly, notability: being a 'hero' etc., or more generally 'famous' or 'important' or 'highly regarded' or anything of that ilk, is not what we mean by notability in the Wikipedia context. We mean instead that the subject has been featured in significant extent and detail in multiple (3+) secondary sources (newspapers, magazines, books, TV/radio programmes, etc.) which are reliable and entirely independent of the subject. Please see the general notability guideline WP:GNG which explains this in more detail.

Question from ChanGlen (05:21, 24 January 2024)

Hey there. Im looking to write about a musician who's in my country who's contributed more than 30 years towards the upliftment of his traditional music. How can I achieve this? I have already done ectensive research on his journey and have all the materials required --ChanGlen (talk) 05:21, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi @ChanGlen: you first need to find a few (3-5) reliable secondary sources that are completely independent of this person, and have written about them extensively. Summarise what they've said, citing each source against the information it provides. You can use the article wizard at WP:YFA, where you also find more advice. When you're finished drafting, submit your draft for a pre-publication review at the AfC (Articles for Creation) project. Good luck, and happy editing! -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:38, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Adam Azim Maldives

Please search for the individual with Maldives in the Search phrase or in Maldivian language. He is the currently elected Mayor of Maldives Capital City Male', and if you have enough research will see plenty that defines notability. Also please populate the page and develop it. Existence Leesaaisath 09:38, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

@Leesaaisath: no, you find and add the sources, and you "populate the page and develop it". I have no interest in this subject, other than to make sure that articles that are published actually comply with our policies and guidelines, which this one didn't. Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:41, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
we are all contributors here, Please dont use forceful languages. I have informed you about the page. Everyone develops.
Please teach me why it doesnt under what GNG Points. Will be glad to comply. Thanks Existence Leesaaisath 09:45, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
@Leesaaisath: I'm not using any "forceful language". You told me to develop the article, and I simply told it back to you.
If you're not familiar with the general notability guideline WP:GNG, then it's probably high time you looked into it, because it applies to the vast majority of subjects. It requires significant coverage, directly of the subject, in multiple independent and reliable secondary sources. None of the three sources cited in this article meets that standard.
Furthermore, as already mentioned, articles on living people (WP:BLP) have particularly strict referencing requirements. Which source gives this person's DOB, or his educational background? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:50, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
DOB and some details were was populated by other editors, if you dont see it, remove it, without ordering others to do it. I dont own any article here. I am well aware of guidelines, it is 4 years I have been doing it.
So, if you want to be part of it, like me assist in it, also I respectfully ask to research before you establish consensus. If it doesn't meet a guideline explain to us so we can understand.
Good Attitude is very important here in Wikipedia and its also part of guidelines, we are all editors and all of us contribute and facts are respected in regard to guidelines, not opinions. Comment on the search link results about the subject regarding guidelines. Existence Leesaaisath 10:20, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
@Leesaaisath: I repeat, I have no interest in or intention to develop or otherwise edit this article. I came across it while doing new page patrol, and had to deal with the fact that it was violating GNG and BLP rules. I did so by draftifying it. If you wish to develop it further yourself, feel free; otherwise it will one day get deleted automatically. Up to you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:25, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
There is no need to repeat things here and one's intentions, being a page patroller doesn't mean that one cannot edit whats not properly cited, and order some to do certain work with attitudes.
If have no interest to properly research, best to keep as is or ask an admin or someone interested to dig in it. I think there is a huge responsibility given to you by the Wiki on how to treat others. We are not talking on an article page, its about how we interact. Existence Leesaaisath 16:16, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

Existence Leesaaisath 09:47, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Leesaaisath I can only see one useful source there [2] which is about him being arrested, the rest are not independent or reliable. Theroadislong (talk) 10:26, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
The times of India
Amnesty international
edition.mv
The Maldives Journal
Sun Online
Maldives Independent
PSM News
These are major news sources in Maldives plus some of international sources I have just found in 2 mins of search. Existence Leesaaisath 16:10, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
@Leesaaisath: then add them to the draft, there's no point in listing them here on my talk page.
You seem to be under the impression that it is somehow other editors' responsibility to search for sources, whereas it is very much the article creator's (ie. your) responsibility. If that's news to you, perhaps you should put any future articles through the AfC review process where experienced editors can help you get it right. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:24, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
Its not about news to me, the issue here is not the article itself, first it was not my inclusions about DOB and so on, and its best to give sometime to read the work before assuming or bringing things up with certain unceremonious tones.
This is mostly about the attitude. I dont think there is a guideline allowing that in wiki and I think the more experience one has, one usually encourages others. Existence Leesaaisath 17:01, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

Francesco Mazzei

I need to understand why my biography has been declined again. I used to have a page on Wikipedia but it was taken down. Here you can see a copy of the old page on Wikitia - what do I need to add/change to get this up? It is effecting my brand. Are you able to find the old page and put it back up? MazzeiFrancesco (talk) 11:59, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello @MazzeiFrancesco,
I declined the draft ( Courtesy link: Draft:Francesco Mazzei) because there is no evidence of notability, which is a core requirement for inclusion in the encyclopaedia. The draft cites three sources, none of which meets the WP:GNG standard for notability.
I have no knowledge of any previous article on this subject, or whether and why it might have been deleted. Even if I did, I wouldn't be able to restore it, as I'm not an administrator.
I'm sorry to hear that the absence of a Wikipedia article (if I've understood you correctly) is affecting your brand, but this is not a relevant consideration for Wikipedia, and you should not try to use Wikipedia for your promotional or similar purposes.
Aside all that, you should also read WP:AUTOBIO, which lists several reasons why you should not be writing about yourself in the first place. And yes, in saying that I realise that you didn't actually create this draft yourself, you appear to have instructed your web designers to do it, who edit/-ed as AltitudeDesignLtd; they should have disclosed their paid editing status, but failed to do so despite this being requested, and are therefore contravening Wikipedia's terms and conditions of use.
For all these reasons, there isn't anything I can do to help with this matter. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:10, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

@Refined Wisdom:
Firstly, I did not reject your draft User:Refined Wisdom/sandbox, I only declined it.
Secondly, I didn't decline it because of its title, but because it is insufficiently referenced, and needs more work to make it a viable article draft.
Thirdly, you cannot rename pages, you can only move them to a different title; this is why the option to rename was not offered.

Regarding the new article creation Avdhesh Kushwaha

Hi, DoubleGrazing,

Thank you for reviewing the content. I would like to mention that I have added links of IMDB as a reference. Please do let me know if Imdb user page is acceptable for this consideration. Let me share the user profile here again : https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6754540/ Rajesh 14:26, 1 February 2024 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Therajeshjoshi (talkcontribs)

@Therajeshjoshi: IMDb is not a reliable source, as it is mostly user-generated and has no editorial oversight; the numerous IMDb references was the main reason why I had to decline this draft. --DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:30, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for the reply. I agree on the user generated content on Imdb but the user page avdhesh kushwaha is created by Imdb itself. and Avdhesh Pandey is well known for his character Bantu Pandey in Bhagonwali - Baante Apni Taqdeer telecasted on Zee TV. apart from this his works includes in Web Series as an actor as well he has helped in casting the starcast. Sala Lab

Hi DoubleGrazing,

Thank you for reviewing content about the Sala Lab. Would you be able to offer additional insight into how I can improve the draft so it is accepted? STRWikiUpdates (talk) 16:14, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Sala_Lab STRWikiUpdates (talk) 16:15, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
@STRWikiUpdates: I can tell you the basic premise of article creation, if that helps.
What you don't do, is write what you want (or, given your paid-editing status, what your client wants), and then try to find sources that support it. (Or in this case, not even that.) This is known as BACKWARD editing.
What you instead do do, is first find a few (at least three, preferably no more than half a dozen) sources that meet the WP:GNG standard for notability, namely: secondary sources, which are reliable and independent of the subject, and which have provided of their own volition significant coverage of the subject. (See WP:42.) You then summarise, in your own words and without putting any additional 'spin' on things, what those sources have said, and cite them against the information they have provided as you go. This gives you in one fell swoop the content, the referencing, and the necessary proof of notability.
Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:31, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
Appreciate the feedback. The paid-editing status may not even result in actual monetary exchange but I am helping the lab, and wanted to fully disclose that.
One last question before I review WP:GNG again and WP:42 -- was there something with 'spin' in the draft? If so, I'd like to improve it so it is entirely neutral. STRWikiUpdates (talk) 16:54, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
@STRWikiUpdates: to be honest, I didn't check the text too carefully, because it was straight away obvious that I would have to decline it for the lack of referencing. I think there may have been a couple of peacock words, but nothing too blatant. I just made the 'spin' comment in a general sense: it's easy to summarise a source... and then add a bit of extra va-va-voom because you're wanting to portray your client (or your own organisation, or whatever it may be) in a positive light. (I don't mean 'you' specifically; I mean 'you' in the indefinite sense, of course.) -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:08, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
That all makes perfect sense.
For the record, I've contributed donations to Wikipedia in my personal life because I believe it's one of humanity's greatest creations, so I really want to contribute objective content. Will keep working on improving this content. STRWikiUpdates (talk) 17:24, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
@STRWikiUpdates: I'm pleased to hear that you wish to contribute to the project also in a wider sense. Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:07, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
