Nippon Kaigi category

I noticed that you left me a message on the talk page. Thanks. I do understand what you mean. However, it may be unfair that you removed only my edits. If my making changes is a fault, changes before my edit are also faluts. So you should clear 92 articles added to Category:Members of Nippon Kaigi of category. --Genifique (talk) 05:34, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for replying. I didn't look at every single one of the 92 articles currently included in Category:Members of Nippon Kaigi, but I checked a large number (maybe 30 or so), and all of those included sourced statements confirming that the subjects were members of Nippon Kaigi. But if you do see any articles in that category which do not include sourced confirmation, then please feel free to remove them from the category. --DAJF (talk) 05:43, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

New Morning

Thank you, he has been up my ass about this forever. IIRC he did it on other pages too and he's still going "IT NEEDS AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE SOURCE".—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 04:22, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Holy shit he is still going on and on about "romaji" when I told him that's a completely wrong interpretation.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 04:48, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Rollbacker

I have granted rollback rights to your account. After a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, contact me and I will remove it. Good luck and thanks. 05:02, 23 January 2015 (UTC)– Gilliam (talk)

Railway or Railroad

(I'm sorry for my poor English.)

Thank you for advice. I does not edit coming from "railway" to "railroad" rewrite. I think I've edited part back to "Railway".

忠告ありがとうございました。今後はrailwayをraileoadに変更する編集を行いません。私が変更した箇所は「Railway」に戻そうと思います。

However, "Meitetsu" English name is "Nagoya Railroad Co.,Ltd."[1][2]. In this case choose "Railway"?

しかし、名古屋鉄道の英語表記は「Railroad」になっています。この場合も「Railway」も選ぶべきでしょうか。--ButuCC (talk) 12:44, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for replying. The full name for Meitetsu should of course be written as "Nagoya Railroad", as that is the official name. (Although actually the company appears to use mainly "Meitetsu" in its publicity these days.) I think there are only a few railway companies in Japan that use "Railroad" in their names, so in general, you should be careful about changing occurrences of "railway" to "railroad" unless we know that that is the form officially used by the company. Does that make sense? Please feel free to drop me a line here again if there is still anything you are not sure about. Happy editing! --DAJF (talk) 13:23, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
I see. I think there are no problems by "Meitetsu", too. It'll be only the part made "Nagoya Railway" that change is needed. In part to use the official name is written as "Nagoya Railroad", otherwise I think that would be written as "Meitetsu".
For other company name there is no hard evidence, I'm going back to the "Railway". I'm sorry for making noise.
それ以外の会社名は確かな証拠が無いため、「Railway」に戻すつもりです。お騒がせいたしました。--ButuCC (talk) 19:00, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

About the English name of the station

(example, Toyokawa-Inari → Toyokawa-inari).

There seems to be a mistake about an article name of some Meitetsu stations (Having hyphen or not, position of the hyphen, misspellings etc. I've listed the differences between the described and article name of the official site to User:ButuCC/sandbox.).

いくつかの名鉄駅の記事名について間違いがあるようです(ハイフンの有無、ハイフンの位置、スペルミスなど。公式サイトの記載と記事名との違いをUser:ButuCC/sandboxにリストアップしました)。

I don't know whether to change all, Because it contains obvious mistake, we also have a want to rename (Article name "Nihon Rhine Imawatari Station" mistake "Nihonrain-imawatari Station".).

全て変えるべきかどうかは分かりませんが、明らかな間違いも含まれているため、改名したいと思っています(記事名「Nihon Rhine Imawatari Station」は「Nihonrain-imawatari Station」の間違い)。

I about the changes of the list up the article name, we would like to propose together in Talk:Meitetsu. However, I don't know where the page equivalent to "ja:Wikipedia:改名提案" of the JaWP. Should I notify this page?

私はリストアップした記事名の変更について、Talk:Meitetsuでまとめて提案したいと思っています。しかし、日本語版の「改名提案」に相当するページが何処にあるのか分かりません。このページに告知すれば良いのでしょうか。--ButuCC (talk) 12:59, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I see your point. The Help guide for moving (i.e. renaming) pages can be read at Help:How to move a page. As explained there, you are free to move pages yourself if the move is clearly not controversial and not blocked by the existence of a redirect page. If the new article names you are proposing are supported by the official Meitetsu website and publicity, then I don't think these are especially controversial page moves, so you can go ahead and move them yourself, as explained in the Help guide above. In cases where page moves are blocked by existing redirect pages, then you will need to make a formal move request at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Does that make sense? Please drop me a line again, if you still have any questions about the process. --DAJF (talk) 14:03, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
I see. If it's that kind of thing, several cases seem to be able to change their name without an argument.
なるほど。そういうことでしたら、何件かは議論なしで改名できそうです。
For articles that need to be submitted to: Wikipedia:Requested moves, I'm going to request from remember how proposals.
Wikipedia:Requested movesに提出する必要のある記事については、提案の仕方を覚えてからリクエストするつもりです。--ButuCC (talk) 09:48, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Removal of edit

Some day i was reading the lo maglev article on wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L0_Series_Shinkansen), but ran over this mistake: The maximum speed says 500 km/h but thats wrong, as you can see in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxd_BqQMvck&feature=youtu.be&t=2m38s. so i changed it to 505, but now this DAJF has changed it back to 500 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.104.37.203 (talk) 22:06, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for leaving a comment. Your previous edits were reverted because details in the article (the maximum speed) were changed without any comment or a reference source to support the changes. I have since found a source to support the revised maximum speed, but in future, please take the time to include both an edit summary and reliable source before changing critical details in articles, as otherwise your edits may be seen as simple vandalism. --DAJF (talk) 04:45, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Good day! The reliable source from her Facebook page (see and read some informations using this link:https://www.facebook.com/MJTakahashi.OfficialPage/info?tab=page_info) proved that the person in the article (Maryjun Takahashi) was born in Ōtsu, Shiga ,even in other website like DramaWiki,Modelpress, etc. have the same prove,so you don't have any reason to removed the reliable source and that is from her Facebook page. However,I would like to thank you for welcoming me on Wikipedia.Once again,Thank you!!!--49.148.129.178 (talk) 09:32, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

You may want to have a closer look at that Facebook page again, as it looks somewhat dubious (talking about Takahashi in the third person etc etc). Don't you think it is strange that it is not linked to from any of her other official sites? Anyway, other fan-edited sites are equally unreliable for biographical details, so please take the time to re-read WP:BLP, and also consider signing in, or creating a user account if you don't already have one. --DAJF (talk) 10:03, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Shinkansen colours

Hi, the other day I noticed you have a subpage User:DAJF/shinkansen service colours with blank spaces for the Sakura and Mizuho. Well, it got me curious so I just took a little excursion to Shin Kobe station. My eyes are not a published source, but I consider them pretty reliable. Sakura is pink and Mizuho orange. I took a photo of the timetable if you'd like confirmation. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 10:30, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for spotting that! It will be useful for adding to the "Adjacent stations" details on articles for shinkansen stations served by those services. --DAJF (talk) 10:47, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
Hello, DAJF. Maybe, all Japanese railway service colors, include Shinkansen are displayed in an article ja:日本の鉄道ラインカラー一覧 (List of Japanese railway service colors). Is this useful? Thanks for reading. --Nyoki2 (talk) 16:45, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
Hi. I wasn't aware of that article, but it is useful. Thanks for posting it here. --DAJF (talk) 03:32, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

Back in 2010, you PRODded this, and it was deleted. Undeletion has been requested at WP:REFUND, so per WP:DEL#Proposed deletion I have restored it, and now notify you in case you wish to consider AfD. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 09:36, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

OK, thanks for the notification. Hopefully the requesting editor can work on it to provide sufficient sourcing to demonstrate notability. Thanks. --DAJF (talk) 09:41, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

Naoko Takeuchi

You said

> Hello, I'm DAJF. An edit that you recently made to Naoko Takeuchi‎ seemed to be a test and has been removed. If you want more practice editing, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! DAJF

Now I noticed at once on your talk page you said

> Please do not reply here in response to comments I have made on other Talk pages. Conversations should remain on the page where they started.

So I was unsure at first where to ask but -what do mean by "seemed like a test"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.191.129.171 (talk) 12:02, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Yes, as per the message you see at the top of this page, it generally makes more sense to continue a conversation on one page (ideally where the conversation started), but since you have commented here...
Your series of edits to the Naoko Takeuchi‎ article seemed to be an attempt to link to a user's draft page by adding a full URL, which is not a good way to do things. If you are new to Wikipedia, please have a look at Wikipedia:Tutorial/Wikipedia links, which gives a few basic tips on how to link to other articles on Wikipedia. Note however, that you cannot and should not link to users' pages. Hope this helps somewhat. --DAJF (talk) 12:23, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

J-pop

Any further comments should be directed to the relevant article talk page(s)

Hi! Could you look at this discussion: "Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard#The inclusion of group Momoiro Clover Z in the Music of Japan and J-pop article"?

And at the revision histories of the articles "J-pop" and "Music of Japan"? I don't really know what I should do. --Moscow Connection (talk) 20:32, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I've just had a look at the two articles you mention. I would tend to agree with the current wording of the two articles following the edits by Ohnoitsjamie. I don't see any problem with including a photo of Momoiro Clover Z, but singling them out with descriptions when nothing is mentioned about AKB48 would seem odd to most readers. Anyway, I see both you and Crovata have been edit warring on both articles, so I suggest you discuss it on the relevant Talk pages before reverting any more. --DAJF (talk) 01:47, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
Sure. I agree with the version/versions by Ohnoitsjamie.
By the way, I know the article could be better, but... But I'm afraid to discuss it further... Cause, you see, the more willing to compromise and polite I was, the more uncommunicative the user named Crovata became. That's why I just reverted everything back to an old version. I'm afraid he may read it and start again. (Actually, I was happy to revert everything back to a version from January cause I thought that I shouldn't have deleted the part about the producer of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and I felt kind of guilty for deleting it.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:31, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
And I really, really tried to discuss it with the user, look:
1. [3]
2. User talk:Anosola#Do not edit my talk page and about your fan edits.
Quotes:
1. I'm adding a photo of AKB48 [4] and my edit summary says: "Two pictures are better than one. (Crovata, 1. The caption wasn't grammatically correct. 2. Your reason for removing the paragraph about Kyary is very subjective. Instead of removing, you can add more to the section.)".
2. [5] "Conclusion: Let the picture be. Momoclo is one of the most popular groups and is more popular than Arashi. :)"
3. [6] "(And you actually succeded in putting a picture of AKB48 there. What more do you want? It's a good compromise. Please, could you be nice and switch to other things? :-))) Let's just stop, okay?)"
4. [7] "Could you please stop? I thought you said that you would write something, expand the J-pop article or this article somehow. Do it, start some discussion on the article's talk page, but don't just delete the parts you don't like. It's not constuctive."
But as you can see, he didn't stop. --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:31, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
I will now add the photo of AKB48. I agree with you that it's strange to single Momoiro Clover Z out. I hope the user doesn't take it as a sign of weakness and as a signal to start removing the photo of Momoiro Clover Z all over again. --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:31, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
  • I didn't notice that Ohnoitsjamie edited again after you replied [8]. I will now add the photo of Momoiro Clover Z back... I hope you won't mind... I think there's enough space for all. --Moscow Connection (talk) 18:31, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
    • I don't think the Momoiro Clover Z photo is of very good quality (it's a bit blurry). The AKB48 photo is much better, and they are one of the best selling pop groups in Japan. Furthermore, I can't find any reliable sources that suggest that Momoiro Clover Z is one of the top groups, even in recent years. In this source, they only show up in the list of music blu-rays. They don't have anything in the Billboard 100 Japan at the moment, and only two entries (starting at #26) in these charts. OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:52, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
      • The colors are good.
There's more to popularity than sales. For example, they are the top all-female group [9] by total attendance at their concerts in 2014. (They beat AKB48.)
(Yes, their latest sales aren't that great. But they have a different, a "fairer" sales model. Their releases don't come in that many versions with different songs on them and don't include lottery tickets for a chance to meet members.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 19:23, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
        • Ah...any picture of Momoiro Clover Z is going to be colorful, given their assigned outfit colors. My point is that we have several other much higher quality photos that depict popular J-Pop artists at the moment. OhNoitsJamie Talk 19:43, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
          • But we don't have any other photos. The Johnny's boy bands don't allow any photography at their events. (Until recently they didn't even have their pictures on the official site. And it's kinda difficult to assess their popularity from here cause they don't publish videos on YouTube. Online shops are not allowed to publish the cover art, too.) Morning Musume is popular too (but much less popular than Momoiro Clover Z), but the only photo we have of them is outdated and rather terrible cause they don't sing in it.
And it's really a good photo, maybe even the best. I personally think it's better than the one of AKB48. You can't see whether it is blurry in the thumbnail, therefore for our purpose it's great. --Moscow Connection (talk) 20:13, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
            • I know very little about J-Pop, but I do know about photography. You can see the blurriness in the thumbnail photo as well. You seem to have a strong bias toward Momoiro Clover Z. Perhaps you should focus on improving the group's article rather than trying to push excessive WP:UNDUE content about them on other pages. OhNoitsJamie Talk 20:23, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
              • It's not undue. I don't have a "strong bias", I like AKB48 as well and many other bands and the Johnny's bands as well.
Why would you say I'm biased? Look at the list of articles I've created in the Russian Wikipedia. There are 14 groups in this list [10] and 50 in this one [11]. You can have fun calculating what percentage of them I've created articles for. (9 out of the 14 in the first list, 9 of the 11 existing ones.)
By the way, I would like to expand the J-pop and Music of Japan articles to mention more groups. --Moscow Connection (talk) 20:43, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Just want to say that all about the issue is already said and can be found at the Noticboard discussion, and this is my final contribution to the whole case. Note again, the "surveys" (the second one is from journal and don't know what is about) just show the people sales interest in the first half of the year among female idol groups, which results do not match with year end results, or in short - reality, and as such are irrelevant. The J-pop's "2010s" section claims are wrongly substantiated (see the Noticeboard reply), as well like the reply above about the "fairer sales model", is aimed to make false balance with biased or non existing evidience which "substantiate" the disproportionate importance of those two music acts, especially Momoiro Clover Z. In the last five years, according the sales, the most consistent popular female idol groups are AKB48, NMB48, Nogizaka46, SKE48, (even HKT48 in the last two), male idol groups Arashi, Exile, SMAP, Kanjani Eight, Kis-My-Ft2, Hey! Say! JUMP, KAT-TUN, rock groups B'z, Bump of Chicken, Mr. Children, One Ok Rock, Kobukuro, while also a significant popularity have Korean duo TVXQ (Tohoshinki in Japanese releases) and female pop group Kara. All this, not mentioning other music acts (as said, even someone like Jin Akanishi), are more popular and noteworthy than those two music acts in the 2010s. I am saying it again, why those two music acts need to have such a special treatment on Wikipedia opposed to 20 more notable music acts just mentioned above?--Crovata (talk) 07:34, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Also, the Music of Japan's "J-pop" section statement should be modified as the the best selling singles since 2008/09 had AKB48 and Arashi, while albums (both studio and compilations) in 2010 (Arashi, Ikimonogakari, Nishino Kana), 2011 (Arashi, AKB48, Exile), 2012 (2x compilations Mr. Children, Akb48, Arashi), 2013 (Arashi, 2x compilations B'z, Funky Monkey Babys), 2014 (AKB48, Various Artists, Arashi).--Crovata (talk) 07:55, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

As while for "the more willing to compromise and polite I was, the more uncommunicative the user named Crovata became" or "It's not undue", do you know how irritating is wasting someone's time since February explaining and warning you about the violation of NPOV, showing you real evidence compared to your original research (misinterpret and misuse of those surveys) and personal POV, but still ignoring it and not doing a single constructive reply to the discussions?--Crovata (talk) 10:49, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Use of tildes at article 'E-Girls'

Hi. Regarding [12] "Restore MOS-compliant name format (we don't use tildes)": in that case feel free to modify the additional uses of tilde on the same page; as '~' in the romanized titles and '~' in the Japanese titles.

Would it be OK to use ~ in the English titles to that they can get the proper naming, i.e. formatting? The track in question should rightfully be: "RYDEEN ~Dance All Night~" (and definitely not "Rydeen: Dance All Night" as it is now) -- Katana (talk) 14:55, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Please read through the Manual of Style guidelines dealing with how we render Japanese titles etc in English Wikipedia articles. We don't use the stylistic all-caps common in Japanese titles, and subtitles using tildes in Japanese should be changed to colons in English, hence "Rydeen: Dance All Night". I realize that that might appear different from the official Japanese title, but that's how we do it to maintain standardization and some semblance of order. --DAJF (talk) 15:03, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
I did look at the MOS (mostly sections and pages regarding titles) but didn't find anything relevant. The Japan-specific link you provided above is obviously clear. As a sidenote I find this element of the MOS strange; to prioritize readability(?) over enforcing the encyclopedia-correctness by not preserving the original title 100% (in the case of 'Rydeen' and others there is no paranthesis with the original JP title).
I see you've made a change at the E-girls article to the existing tilde I referenced. So thanks for that.
PS: I didn't notice that you prefer talk about comments to stay in their original location. My bad -- Katana (talk) 08:50, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Yui Mizuno trivia

Hi, what is it that has made you remove all my contribution to the English wiki page of Yui Mizuno? I added some factual and fair trivia of Yui Mizuno in there today. And I believe they are all true and correct. Chan Mio — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chan Mio (talkcontribs) 16:32, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I removed the section because it appeared to be a list of indiscriminate fan trivia better suited to a fan page or blog. Just because it is "true" or sourced doesn't necessarily mean it belongs in a biographical article. --DAJF (talk) 01:28, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
Hi, I for one find these information useful and relevant, but I agree they are a list of miscellaneous information and kind of need to be well-organized. At this point, what part of information do you personally find useless in accordance with the Wikipedia guideline?
"degree of selectivity should always be used, but the criteria for inclusion are complex, because the "importance" of a fact is subjective. It is not reasonable to disallow all information that some editors feel is unimportant, because that information could be important to some readers." "Trivia sections should not simply be wiped away, however, because some items may be useful for integration."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Handling_trivia
FYI: The Portuguese version of Yui Mizuno wiki page also has her personal details section, and seems to work very well.
https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yui_Mizuno
--Chan Mio (talk) 15:40, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
I would say that the only detail possibly worth saving is the mention of the song she sang at her audition. And that should be integrated properly in the existing biography section. Everything else is just fluff... "favourite food", stretches every morning to get taller? Please, this is supposed to be an encyclopedia article - not a schoolgirl magazine article. What is or is not considered acceptable on other language projects is not particularly relevant to what happens on English Wikipedia, but I see that the Portuguese article you mention only devotes two sentences to Yui Mizuno's personal details, so that still looks a lot better than the trivia list currently included in the English language article. Anyway, no rush, but perhaps take the time to have a look at other more developed articles about artists on Wikipedia to see how they are written. You won't see any trivial mentions of hobbies or favourite foods on articles such as Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga (designated a "Good Article"). --DAJF (talk) 15:55, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Okay, I see what you mean. I'm going to take a look at your suggested star pages, and rewrite, remove, and/or integrate my information into another section of the page. Hopefully this weekend. Is it alright with you? Will start next discussion on the article Talk page after my next edit. >(Collapsing discussion. Any further additions or comments on the subject would be better directed to the relevant article Talk page) --Chan Mio (talk) 14:53, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Gonna rewrite and update the section in a couple of days. Kinda busy atm. --115.162.225.9 (talk) 09:07, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi, this is Yen replying to your message about the article Kenjiro Tsuda. First of all, I appreciate the advice. However, I will be re-adding my edit after leaving this message. You reverted my edit for my lack of a reliable source. I don't know what to tell you other than go watch the shows I added and see that Tsuda Kenjiro is clearly listed in the credits. That is the most reliable form of source I can get with regards to an actor's role on a show. I will mention this in the comments when I re-add my edits. While I appreciate that you are making sure articles are clean and without false information, please also verify that they are false before removing information you suspect. YenTamashi (talk) 18:13, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for responding, but unfortunately, the burden for including reliable sources actually lies with the editor adding the claims. Please read the guidelines at WP:PROVEIT and also WP:BLP, and be sure to include a reliable (ideally third-party) source before re-adding this information. Thanks. --DAJF (talk) 23:35, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
Hi. Then please answer a few questions. First, please explain to me how the credits of TV show is not a reliable source for whether an actor is involved in a show or not. Second, I do not see any sources attached to anything else on the article. Why are you not removing all of that information? What is the difference between what is already posted and my edit? I ask both to improve my understanding of acceptable sources on Wikipedia and also because I do not agree with your decision to revert mine and other people's edits in this article even though they are verifiable facts. Please explain. YenTamashi (talk) 04:25, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
I'll try and explain the situation as best I can. I presume you have already read through the guidelines about Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability. Admittedly, these do not specifically touch on the use of opening or ending credits as sources for Wikipedia articles, but they do explain how articles should ideally be sourced using third-party references, which film or TV credits are not. If the work or role you wish to add is notable enough, then it should be fairly easy to find a source to add to the article. It doesn't have to be in English - Japanese sources are fine too. But if no sources can be found, you need to step back and consider whether this means that perhaps the work or the role was actually not so important and probably does not warrant mentioning in a Wikipedia article. As for why other roles have not been deleted, actually I have been working through other voice actor articles, steadily weeding out unsourced and unverified roles. WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is never a valid argument for allowing the inclusion of new unsourced material, and if you see any unsourced or dubious listings in Kenjiro Tsuda or other articles, please feel free to remove them yourself. Unlike IMDB or ANN listings, Wikipedia articles are supposed to be both encyclopedic and reliably sourced, so I hope you can help in digging up reliable reference sources and pruning out unsourced material. All the roles will need to be reliably sourced if the article is to ever progress beyond the basic "Start" class and eventually reach "Good Article" status. I can understand how you may not appreciate having your edits reverted, but I assume you are also eager to improve this and other similar articles, so please try and include reliable sources in future. I know it means a bit more effort, but it will result in a much better quality article. Thanks. --DAJF (talk) 06:26, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
I really appreciate the detailed answer. I still do not agree with you, but I do see your point and understand the reasoning. While I understand that the lack of a third-party source might be equivalent to being unimportant enough for Wikipedia, it should not render the original source unreliable. To the actor, I would think they are proud of any role they performed, and that they don't feel any of them is unimportant. In my opinion, a "Good" class article for an actor would include information on even the tiniest roles, because their fans would like the information, and the actor would appreciate being remembered. You mentioned Wikipedia articles to be encyclopedic, I would expect an encyclopedic article on an actor to include all works they are credited in, big or small. Rather than a bit more effort on my part to find reliable sources, I feel that my sources are enough reliable and sufficient for the information I added. That said, I realize this is me not agreeing with the rules here and I do not plan to fight anymore over this. Thanks for your information. YenTamashi (talk) 08:08, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Geisha Wiki Edit

Hello DAFJ, this is Asuttles23. I am working on this Geisha page for my class project and am not working together with Arodcinco55 as you stated earlier this week. I noticed you tagged me in a message containing him but I am not working with him. As far as the content goes, I was under the impression that majority of everything taken from "JSTOR" was scholarly and would count as a citation. I'm sorry for all of the inconvenience regarding all the edits and deletion of my edits. I will continue to look for a better source that will meet the requirements of a Scholarly cite. Please let me know if i need to do anything else. I also would like to add a photo of the shoes the Geisha wear and as far as that goes is their any limitations for that? Here is the image URL to the picture i wanted to add. Thank you!

Hello, talk page stalker here. Please see Talk:Geisha, where I point out that rather than looking for reliable sources from which to derive good material, you seem to have certain ideas in your head that you insert and to which you attach "references" that aren't. This stuff was not taken from the book review at JSTOR to which you pointed.
Yes, what else you need to do is (1) to clear your head of the simplifications, half-truths and poppycock that you may have read in websites created by the uninformed, and (2) to find reliable sources, read them, understand them, summarize what they say, and credit them as your sources.
There are very many limitations relevant to the addition of images, many of them related to copyright. But let's put them aside for a minute. The image to which you point shows pokkuri, which are (rather famously) worn by maiko. Maiko are not geisha; geisha do not wear pokkuri. -- Hoary (talk) 22:38, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
Hi. I don't think there is much more I can add over what Hoary has already explained above. I hope you can add a page number for the citation to Liza Dalby's Geisha, so it can be verified by another editor. Thanks. --DAJF (talk) 10:58, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for looking over my work so quickly. I'm not a Japanese speaker or expert in Japanese railway terminology, but I'm wondering whether the 形 kanji is really part of the KuMoHa 12 name (that's why I left it out in the "nihongo" templates). From what I could see in dictionary entries it looked like a generic word meaning "form" or (in this context) "type". --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 14:31, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi. The Japanese "形" corresponds to the English "type" or "class" in individual vehicle designations (similar to "系" for "series"). While we often leave out the "type" or "class" in English (as in the article's title, for example) it is normally required in Japanese usage, so I think it's best to include it. But thanks for expanding the article. --DAJF (talk) 14:54, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

40 series listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect 40 series. Since you had some involvement with the 40 series redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 05:15, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the notification. As I mentioned on the discussion page, I don't see any reason to delete or otherwise change the redirect until an article about the 40 series EMU has actually been created. When that happens, we can simply use the same arrangement as used on the 201 series article (with a top-hat disambiguator pointing to KiHa 201 series). The same method is used at the 281 series, 283 series, and 285 series articles, and it would appear to work fine. But if you have any better suggestions, I'm happy to help out. --DAJF (talk) 07:03, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
OK, that works for me. Since I see you've removed the misleading wikilink to the redirect from Katamachi Line, my only remaining concern has been resolved. Thanks. --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 11:02, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Seibu 3000 series

Hi DAJF,

This is Seoul style. It has come to my attention that the Seibu 3000 series have been removed from service completely from the Seibu lines. Can you edit the 3000 series wiki to reflect this? Seoul style (talk) 01:04, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi. You're right, the article appears to be out-of-date, so I'll be happy to update it with details of the removal from service shortly. --DAJF (talk) 23:27, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

Yukina Kinoshita and "Hon'nō-ji"

Hello, I'm Seya.

  • Romanization of 本能寺 is Hon'nō-ji, because if it is Honnō-ji, people may misread ほっのうじ. Please see here.

Seya L Yost (talk) 03:46, 25 August 2015 (UTC) Fixed typo ~~

Hi. Thanks for your reply, and thanks for digging up that reference verifying Yukina Kinoshita's official (married) name. I have added it to the article and restored her married name to the intro. As for your comment about Honnō-ji, I'm afraid that doesn't make any sense, and the link you provided doesn't clarify the situation either. Please take the time to read and familiarize yourself with the Manual of Style. This explains how the syllabic "ん" is written "n'" (with an apostrophe) only before vowels and y. I hope this makes things clearer. --DAJF (talk) 04:46, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
(Talk page stalker) No one would misread it as ほっの because that combination just plain doesn't exist. Tenaqzn'f Fbvyrq Gubat (talk) 11:50, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Yamanote Line

You can look online and see that Tabata is not used as a key direction station anymore. Look on Google Images if you want to check. Chrifgnf (talk) 17:07, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

I am still thinking that I am still right. Tabata is not on the screen on the front of the train. You can look it up and you will see that Tabata is not a indicating direction anymore. Chrifgnf (talk) 04:31, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi. It might have been better to keep the discussion in one place, but thanks for replying. I did actually double-check on Google Images before I commented on your Talk page. Tabata is probably not used on the indicators on the front of trains, as there is very little space, but I was actually referring to signage at stations, where Tabata is indeed one of seven stations still used. A quick search on Google turns up the following:
  • Shinjuku Station: [13] ("for Ikebukuro, Tabata & Ueno")
  • Ikebukuro Station: [14] ("for Tabata, Ueno & Tokyo")
  • Ueno Station: [15] ("for Tabata, Ikebukuro & Shinjuku")
  • Kanda Station: [16] ("for Ueno, Tabata, Sugamo & Ikebukuro")
All these images appear to be pretty recent, so I'd be interested to see any evidence that Tabata is no longer used on signage. --DAJF (talk) 05:48, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

I see. I am sorry. There was not a good explanation of the meaning of Tabata. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrifgnf (talkcontribs) 04:20, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

Koriyama High School

Hi! Just noticed that the page I made for Koriyama High School was removed; could you help me understand why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Invesperascere (talkcontribs) 16:51, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi. As I explained in the edit summary at the time, the article was redirected to the Yamatokōriyama article, as it was unsourced and had tenuous notability. If you are interested in restoring and expanding it as a self-standing article, please be sure to include reliable sources. Drop us a line if you need any help. --DAJF (talk) 23:57, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

I was mostly pulling information over from the Japanese page for it [17]. Not sure how to add/format more, it was my first created page on Wiki but I thought it should be there; most Japanese people that I've met know about it, and it's generally understood to be one of the best high schools in the prefecture. Hi DAJF,

you removed the link to the plant from the list. It was clickable and is mentioned at Moroccan mint tea. May I revert your edit? Matthias Buchmeier (talk) 19:36, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

BTW sheeba is also mentioned at Artemisia (genus) as a name for Artemisia arborescens. Matthias Buchmeier (talk) 19:48, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
Hi. The disambiguation page for Chiba really should be listing only occurrences of "Chiba" or "chiba" in other Wikipedia articles. It appears to be mentioned in Maghrebi mint tea as a name for Artemisia arborescens, but as the Artemisia arborescens article itself does not seem to mention either the "chiba" or "sheeba" names, maybe someone ought to add a (sourced) mention of the Moroccan names to that article before a disambiguation entry can be re-added. --DAJF (talk) 00:50, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
OK, I'll do that as soon as I find some spare time. cheers Matthias Buchmeier (talk) 10:21, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for your cleanup of the article. I'd like to run a couple of things by you:

  1. The "commercial endorsements" section was not ideal, so I don't blame you for removing it. But what if a shorter (and sourced) version was included as part of the description of his recent success? I'm thinking just one sentence along the lines of "in the following year he appeared in advertising campaigns for A, B and C."
  2. What do you think about the page being moved to Sugi-chan?

Thanks, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 04:54, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi. If we can find decent sources, then I think it's OK to re-add some of the commercial endorsements, but the trend for well-developed biographical articles of celebrities appears to be to not just list such endorsements in resume style unless they have actually received third-party coverage (like Tommy Lee Jones' endorsements for Boss Coffee).
As for moving the article to Sugi-chan, I agree that is probably a better choice. As we now have three editors (including myself) agreeing to the move, I would say, just go ahead and move the article, since it does not appear to be controversial, and "-chan" is the preferred style stipulated in the manual of style. --DAJF (talk) 01:58, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

Kanoya, Kagoshima

Hi I am working on getting more information about Kanoya out there in English and my edits to its page were deleted. They were actually direct translations from the Japanese Wikipedia for Kanoya, Kagoshima, I checked back at the sources for what I translated and there were not any sources for the Japanese one at that part. Can I just source Japanese Wikipedia for those? In the later parts there are sources which I can add into the English one as well. Kanoyakagoshima (talk) 00:25, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for your work on the article, but don't forget that facts that are likely to be contested will need actual verifiable sources to back them up. Japanese Wikipedia articles often serve as a starting point for information, but they cannot be used as actual sources for the details. Sources don't necessarily have to be in English, although that is preferable. Anyway, have a look through the guidelines at Wikipedia:Verifiability, and feel free to drop us line again if you need help. --DAJF (talk) 01:48, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

You have deleted 85% of the three pages I am editing: People counter, photo booth, digital signage. Most of the works you had deleted are not my works and had been there for the last few years. I have already mentioned in the talk page in Digital Signage of the problem of the page, and there major works that required to be done on it.

- Please read and discuss together on that Talk page as to what needs to be done. - Somehow all the pages I am editing have been sabotage by you. Is there any psychological issue with you? - Please invite other people to review your edits. It is definitely against the spirit of Wikipedia. - I am also working to improve the pages. You cannot make blanket removal, including old works by other people. We should make incremental changes together. - The articles are not perfect, but I am improving on it as well. I am adding a lot of reference links, and you cannot make blanket removal on all of it. - All my works were not copy and paste, I can swear on this. It is easy for you to make such a claim, don't use this reason to make blanket removal of my edits. - The quality of your edits make the current pages readable. Other people, please go and read them and judge it yourself. - I have reverted your sabotage. Please don't start an edit war, please discuss, ask other to review. Technodudes (talk) 05:23, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Firstly, removing copyright-infringing material from Wikipedia articles is not "sabotage" - it's the recommended course of action (please read Wikipedia:Text Copyright Violations 101). I actually initally tagged the page with a "Copypaste" notice, which would have given you or anyone else time to address the problems of copy-pasted plagiarism in the article, but as nothing was done for a whole week, I removed the offending parts. Now that you have restored the copyright-infringing material, we are back at square one. What do you intend to do to remedy the problems raised? Leave them there for another week? Longer? --DAJF (talk) 11:56, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
Perhaps, I have infringed your ego by my statement that Japanese Photo Sticker booth is junk outside Japan. If so I apologise for it. I did not mean it this way..
Please forgive me on it. We should control our nationalistic ego, and not let our personal feelings ends up in page sabotage..

Errm, a) I'm not Japanese, b) I have no particular vested interest in Japanese photo sticker booths, and c) I saw no problem with timming some of the excessive detail in the Photo booth. So if you are saying that your nationalistic ego or personal feelings are clouding your judgment, please take a step back and try and stick to Wikipedia guidelines on how articles should be structures and sourced. That's all I'm doing, and I hope you will do the same. --DAJF (talk) 11:56, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Sukiyabashi Jiro

I clearly explained why I removed the section on Obama's visit from Sukiyabashi Jiro. As I said in the edit summary, it is irrelevant. The page on an esteemed culinary location does not deserve to be polluted by a blurb about a politician visiting for a photo op.

I noticed the page for Jiro Ono (chef) also has a line on having served Obama. I will delete that too shortly, as that is also irrelevant to the man and his work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.39.105.60 (talk) 06:52, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

Infobox station conversion

Hey, thanks for looking over some of the bot's edits. In lieu of adding the "Station" suffix to a handful of the migrated infoboxes, would you rather update the conversion wrapper? Just this edit would need to be reverted. I don't have a strong opinion either way, but I'd rather leave the lot consistent. My impression from the first BRFA was that people were more in favor of leaving the suffix out, but it wasn't a strong consensus either way. — Earwig talk 06:56, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

By the way, note I've only done about 5% of the full job so far, so it'll be much easier to change now than deal with later. — Earwig talk 07:07, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
@The Earwig: Thanks for the message. I wasn't actually aware of the discussion for the migration using the bot, but my view is that, as all the Japanese station articles include "Station" (and also the Japanese equivalent) in the name at the top of the infobox, it was best to retain this to maintain uniformity and standardization. If you can tweak the process to retain/add "Station" and and the Japanese character "駅", then I think that would be appreciated, and as you say, it will be easier to change now rather than than go back later and try to change it. Many thanks if you can so this. --DAJF (talk) 05:00, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

The replacement is done now. I might go back through the earlier replacements and re-add the suffixes. Let me know if you see any other problems. — Earwig talk 03:26, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
@The Earwig: Thanks once again for all your hard work with the migration task. It's not a major issue, but if it is possible to also include the "distance" and "website" fields in the infobox, that would be useful, as these are both details that appear worth adding in the future, even though there weren't corresponding fields in the earlier Japan Station infobox. Thanks. --DAJF (talk) 05:49, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
Hmm, I don't think it's worth going through again and adding a couple empty fields to a few thousand infoboxes—they're available in the template if people want to use them in the future. — Earwig talk 06:44, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
OK, if the migration process is now complete, fair enough. Thanks once again. --DAJF (talk) 07:32, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
