IMDb links

Hi Boufekoor. I noticed your edit to Paliz Khoshdel. You added an IMDb external link, which is fine. However, there is a better way using templates, so I made that minor change (see WP:IMDBTEMPLATE for future reference). Hello my friend, thank you for your attention. I have been editing Wikipedia for a long time (partially of course) and now I decided to create an account for myself and try to help Wikipedia more professionally.

When I was using Wikipedia as a normal user (as a reader), I noticed that people who are active in the field of art and cinema, one of the parameters to measure their credibility is to have a page on imdb. Besides, if we add this link to the page of artists, it will make their fans get more complete information.

Considering these things, I tried to add the imdb links to the artists I know on their pages.

Paliz Khoshdel is also one of the best documentary directors in Iran and recently won several awards in a film festival. When I visited his page, I realized that he did not have an imdb link and I added that link. Of course, with your guidance, I found out how to do this.

Thanks for your reply. I wasn't asking so much about why you added the link, which is of course very common practice. I'm more interested in the technical aspect. Where did you learn that the code [[imdbname:7234006|Paliz Khoshdel]] would work, just like a standard wikilink using square brackets? Is there a help page you knew about? We are trying to eliminate the use of that sort of code (using the templates instead) and I'd like to understand where its use is being encouraged. Mike Turnbull (talk) 11:27, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
