This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Harold James Kirby, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.ontla.on.ca/web/members/members_all_detail.do?locale=en&ID=1377.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Joseph Hunter[edit]

Thanks for writing an article on Joseph Hunter, then linking it from several articles on Wells Gray Park where I have mentioned his surveying work. When writing a book on the park, I never researched Hunter's work or life outside his railway surveys through the future park. Your info is really interesting and I would like to include it in the next book edition, whenever that is.Roland Neave (talk) 05:01, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

George Alexander Walkem[edit]

Hello Big iron, I'm posting this message on your talk page because I noticed that you've recently created the new article George Alexander Walkem--The layout of the article makes it very clear. It's nice to see you editing!Amy Z (talk) 19:09, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Marie Geddes has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references or evidence of notability, other than one event.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi. In George Churchill Moxham, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Halifax, Nova Scotia (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 12:59, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you - Halifax is a disambiguation mess. I've had to disambiguate links to Halifax, Nova Scotia before and had similar confusion. I would start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board (Wikipedia:WikiProject Nova Scotia doesn't appear to be especially active). Also, you could ask at WP:DPL, but you wouldn't have any guarantees of Canada-related expertise. --JaGatalk 16:10, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have been altering template:Canadabio. As Template:DictCanbio called {{Canadabio}} with two parameters the same as those set in {{Canadabio}} rather than expand the interface to handle the two new parameters I have simply redirected the template as its stated difference of starting with a bullet point was removed back in October 2010. If you do not agree then reverse the edit to Template:DictCanbio and please drop me a line on my talk page so we can discuss it further. -- PBS (talk) 06:03, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yellow-breasted chat[edit]

I am the author of the article about Dolichonyx oryzivorus in the Spanish Wikipedia and I found a paper that said that the bobolink, an icterid, is closely related to the yellow-breasted chat. When I wrote that in the article’s taxonomy section, it aroused some controversy due to the fact that the yellow-breasted chat was originally classified as a parulid. Then I resorted to the article in English about this bird to learn more about its taxonomy and it suggested that its classification as a parulid is obsolete. I saw in the history page of that bird’s article that you’d made several contributions to it and I was wondering if knew anything about its current classification. Have you heard or read anything about its phylogenetic links with Icteridae? If you happen to know any free-access paper available in the internet about this matter, I’d appreciate you let mi know in my talk. Thank you! --Pablo.ea.92 (talk) 10:43, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for James Lyons Biggar and relatives[edit]

I'm currently engaged in a discussion about some details of the early Biggars in Canada at User talk:Michael Biggar, related to an article draft on Robert Biggar. According to Michael, Robert Biggar was the father of Charles Biggar, born in Bath, New York, in 1797. Charles would presumably be James Lyons Biggar's father; you wrote in the article on James Lyons that his father's family came from the town of Biggar in Scotland, but you gave no reference. On the other hand, there is a History of Brant County which says on p. 186 that Robert Biggar's son James was born in Biggar, Scotland, in 1803 and came to Canada with his father in 1806. I cannot see how we can reconcile Charles Biggar's birth in New York with James Biggar's birth in Scotland, unless there are two different persons named Robert Biggar. Can you help us? Where did you get the information about James Lyons' ancestors from? Huon (talk) 17:20, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your quick and thorough reply! I must have been pretty blind to miss that reference. Huon (talk) 22:01, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your answer.
Still, the article may not reasonably be searched for or linked to under two or more names : the name you produce is not widely sourced.
By creating this page, you may induce creations of sources(post).
And according to Wikipedia's policies, "full names and dates of birth are included when widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object". In this case, there are no widely published sources about a full name. Furthermore, the author, that publish exclusively under pseudonym, objects to the publication of any full name : it is not of public concern, nor related to its notability.

//So please remove this page as it could be an intrusion of privacy. Regards.Bess Gall (talk) 13:50, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Big Iron

These "hundreds of results" of the google search very rarely concern a writer. It is not because you find a full name that it means that it is related to the topic.

We have too little serious and reliable sources that meet our criteria on the quality of the sources, which would show that this writer legal name would be the first and last name listed as the title of the page you created and in the article itself : no legal or full name related to this writer has been widely published by reliable sources.

Moreover, this writer is also sometimes referred as “Rosie Parks” and “Sandrine Bessora”. You find this contradiction in the source you produced in the article: "In their novels “Garçon Manqué” (2000) and “53cm” 1999, Nina Bouraoui and Sandrine Bessora, respectively…".(p.99)

Furthermore, this source is not "Directly related to the topic".

Add to this that it is the only source in google books referring to Bessora as having the full name you mentioned.

This may be insufficient, regarding Wikipedia rules.

These are other reasons, added to presumption in favor of privacy, to remove the page, the redirect and the mention of this name. Regards. Dabbeydabbey (talk) 09:09, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I am trying to identify the source for the district level data for early Manitoba elections. One source of election data is the Canadian Parliamentary Guide - a few very older versions are online foe example here but many libraries will have a set of these in paper format. Hi Big iron, thanks for creating all those articles of women writers and poets. I've expanded one of your recent creations, Zhao Luanluan, and nominated it for DYK. See Template:Did you know nominations/Zhao Luanluan. Cheers! -Zanhe (talk) 06:44, 5 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your work on the Newfoundland politicians. I started some work earlier this month and will probably get to a few more as well in the future. Connormah (talk) 04:37, 18 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

blue-winged teal and women writers
Thank you, wanderer in Canada's National parks, for quality articles such as blue-winged teal, for politicians and "lighting a candle" for women writers such as Sugako Hashida, Julia Gjika, Chen Xuezhao and Zhao Luanluan, for redirects and your mantra "add source & expand", - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

Marlène Belley[edit]

FYI - you have her debut work as being published in 1955, but her year of birth as 1963. I can't reach the source on Google Books to correct it, so I just wanted to let you know. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:57, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's an error in the source (I even looked at a copy of the real book) but I was asleep I guess. I will find another source for the publication date. Thanks for pointing that out. --Big_iron (talk) 20:52, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The real publication year is 1995 which makes a lot more sense. --Big_iron (talk) 21:03, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I had a feeling that was the case, but without anything to back me up I didn't want to change it. Happy to be of help.
Keep up the good work, and happy editing! --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:34, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Prix Émile-Nelligan, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.comoria.com/157744/Prix_mile-Nelligan.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. CorenSearchBot stinks again; left message on bot and article page. --Big_iron (talk) 11:45, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Geneviève Billette[edit]

Hello Big iron,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Geneviève Billette for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. PureRED (talk) 13:07, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for updating us! Your article has been restored. --PureRED (talk) 14:26, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ottawa wiki-events[edit]

Would you be interested in helping with a Wikipedia:Meetup/ArtAndFeminism event in the Ottawa area? There is a group that is already organizing, but they have asked for assistance from some more experienced local editors.--Pharos (talk) 17:37, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Great to hear you are interested for the local effort! Availability in the summer shouldn't be a problem, as they are actually planning the main Ottawa event for March 2016, with probably a smaller getting-started event in the autumn of this year. I'm actually a few hundred miles away in NYC, but if you like I can put you in touch with them on our discussion thread by email (as they don't have much previous Wikipedia experience).--Pharos (talk) 22:09, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

David Murdock MacPherson entry[edit]

Help with an entry
Thank you for doing the initial entry on D M MacPherson in 2007, however the spelling of his name as "McPherson" is causing difficulties. Can we induce you to make the change?

Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Julia Hartwig, which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK.
