Radio interviews are fine; however, specifics need to be given so that it is verifiable so that anyone can access the interview. See Wikipedia:Citing sources on how to cite your sources. Using {{Cite episode}} may be appropriate in this case. Infobox coding

Bagumba - do you know how to make the basketball infobox automatically display NBL (Autralia) team colors? I am in the process of converting the NBL player infobox to the standard basketball infobox and I think it would be nice to be able to display those team colors as we do with the NBA and Euroleague as a benefit to the NBL editors who might feel like they are losing something moving from the old infobox. There are only 8 teams so I am hoping this might be sort of easy. I don't mind trying it if you can point me to a resource that explains how. From what I can tell, {{Infobox NBL player}} doesn't currently have colors, so it wouldn't be a loss. I think you would need to modify {{Infobox basketball biography}} to add {{NBL colour}} and {{NBL colour cell}} in the headers where other "color" templates are called. Chris Culliver

I restored Culliver's verbatim gay bashing quote to the article because I think the way he expressed his sentiments is almost as important as the sentiments themselves. There's a lot more in his statement than, "He would not want a gay teammate." Among other issues, his language raises the implicit question of what kind of an education did this guy get after three years of college?

I think the same is true of his apology, because "apology" is not the same as, "... a reflection of thoughts in my head, but they are not how I feel." But I did not restore it, hoping that you will instead.

The standard I always use is, "Is the article better off with or without the material in question?" In this case, I think the quotes make it better.

Thanks for the note. My biggest concern was people not as fluent in English being even more confused by the quote, and the style putting him in perhaps a non-neutral light. I somewhat addressed neutrality with some good excerpts from his apology today. Alley-oop (basketball)

All parts of the aley oop (now cropped): 1.) The signal; 2.) The pass; 3.) The leap; 4.) The catch; 5.) The dunk.

I got a better set of pictures for Alley-oop (basketball) from a basketball game this weekend where Jabari Parker's team played Jahlil Okafor. Two of Parker's teammates (Tate and Nunn) who have committed to Illinois were on a 2-on-1. I have it starting with Nunn holding up 1 finger (to signal he wanted an Alley Oop) as he got to the three point arc. However it is 9 pics in landscape. I can probably crop it to portrait. I started with over 11 hundred pics and haven't even eliminated 200 of them yet. I also have the whole game on video. Here are the original images. When I get around to it I will crop them and cut it down to 4 or 5 images for the article. I'll probably go with 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 since they are equally spaced and should be near perfect encyclopedic illustration of the play. However, I am not sure if without 6 it is clear he catches the ball in the air. It will be a few days though. I did video this game as well, but since I can't man the video camera and the photo camera, I set it up on wide angle to capture the whole court. Also, since I don't want to use a lot of storage, I shot at 640 instead of 1280 or 1920. The free Miro Video Converter software that I am using does not do so well with creating .ogv files from 640x480 .mov video files. Both are 640x480 I believe so the resolution is identical. However the conversion was very lossy in terms of detail. The original is not that sharp because I was not really trying to produce a video. It was just to give the appearance of doing big things so I could retain such a prime perch while just shooting photography. I don't know about .mov->.mp3. I can go to .mp4 with the free Moyea Video4web converter, which can crop portions out of an .mov and convert them or just convert the whole thing. Well, if we had to cut it to four, we could, but to see the whole play, this is the best we are going to do in pictures. It shows both players through the 5 shots. I don't know what percentage of alley oops are called by a signal from the dunker, but it is less tha 100% so the dunker signal is, of course, optional. If we had to do it in one picture, the original from before my two additions was as good as you could hope for. However, we are not limited. I didnt like the look of the sequence of 5 pictures broken up into two rows in the lead. The sequence is easier to follow in one row, so I chose to move it to the Examples section. It's also a good place because there is prose about the alley oop there, so it's easier to reference the picture while reading that section. Here is another AfD on a basketball player on the grounds of WP:NBASKETBALL who already meets WP:NBASKETBALL. It's stuff like this that makes me protective of that standard - people use it incorrectly all the time for AfD justification and that is what I fear more than a couple of non notables getting articles. "similar major professional sports league" already exists in NBASKETBALL, so the wording didn't prevent an AfD in this case. In all fairness, the version at the time the AfD was nominated didn't note he was a pro player in the prose, and the nominator probably just assumed it was another article created based on news of a murder. There was the external link to Liga ACB, which may or may not have been taken into consideration, but someone who doesnt know basketball in Spain wouldn't know if it qualified as a major league per NBASKETBALL either. After reverting his genre vandalism and seeing it restored by the IP, I checked both accounts' contribution history and talk page, and the articles they edit and get warned for seem to mirror one another intermittently. If you are suggesting admin action, it's not really a policy or a guideline violation, so I would not do anything now. Perhaps an embedded comment in the Infobox, and maybe a link to the discussion in the talk page might establish consensus for editors who are unaware. Hells Bells in Fallujah

I contributed the info about the use of Hells Bells in the Battle of Fallujah the other week. Thanks for catching that the Marines' rationale was OR.

Since I'm new to editing, I'd like your advice on how to revise the submission. You're right that the precise rationale wasn't given in the book I cited, and it could just have easily been to intimidate, offend, or demoralize the fighters in the city, or simply to inspire the Marines. On the whole, websites (such as Democratic Underground and Free REpublic) do seem to confirm that that rationale was to draw out to the troops, but the websites and articles are themselves poorly sourced and seem speculative. And there is a book (No True Glory) that implicitly suggests alternative rationales.

I'd like to revise and resubmit the edit I made. In your opinion, would it be better to mention that there is debate concerning the rationale(s), or simply ignore that particular issue altogether? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kamandash (talk • contribs) 18:18, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for discussing this. I'm not familiar with the websites you mentioned, but WP:RS may be of help. Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard is also a place to pose questions about specific sources. Reliable sourcing aside, a larger issue I would have with its inclusion in Hells Bells (song) would be whether it is an important enough pop culture reference to mention. As with any popular song, there are lots of instances where the song was played. Personally, I would like to see multiple reliable sources that discuss the rationale or impact of its usage to warrant mention in the article. Otherwise, it would seem trivial to mention it in Hells Bells, and it might be more relevant to mention it in 2003 invasion of Iraq or some related article.—Bagumba (talk) 18:46, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Honestly, I am done editing this article. Over the past months I've tried to add detail to the article, much of it coming from an MLB.com biography and some from more recent news articles, etc. I feel cheated as a Wikipedia user that my edits have been stripped in the name of mere technicalities. For the record, I'm not in contact with Mr. Moorad but in reality just a Padres fan. My apologies for the fib. But even that, it seems, gives no protection from the tyrrany of Wikipedia editors. Pretty interesting that when the community tries to get involved in editing an article, there is this harsh a response from Wikipedia editors. Of course, I understand fully: you editors have your niches here on the baseball sections of Wikipedia, and someone trying to change that would take some of your power. Everything said yesterday is taken back. Please remove all my comments immediately rather than directing me to the welcome page. I will not view the welcome page, so please cease sending suggestions to my IP address at Wikipedia.

By the way, is there someone I can talk to about this? Wikipedia management/higher up editor, etc.?

Magic Johnson

I guess I'm trying to figure out, "What gives?" I attempted to add a picture that I took of Magic Johnson yesterday to his article and you removed it and said it was "grainy" and you replaced it with one that was merely his head without a body, just his head. There is no way a reasonable person would have found the floating head picture to be superior to the grainy picture. However, I replaced the floating head picture with a second picture of Magic which is not "grainy" in any form or fashion. You just moved that picture from the left side of the page, the exact same spot you placed the floating head, and moved it to the right side of the page. That's fine but you added a cryptic message "FWIW, ExclusiveAgent, is uploading his own work in the article." I have no idea why that is important. People take pictures of people, objects, and places all of the time and place them in articles. So I repeat, what gives? Thanks for discussing this. MOS:IMAGE suggests that a person's eyes should look toward the text, which is why I have been moving the images. As a sign of good faith, I left the picture though I thought he looked "funny"; no fault of the photographer, it's just the nature of snapshots and timing i.e. luck sometimes. I left it for others to decide, though disclosing that you were also the uploader so people can decide on their own if there is any conflict of interest in determining the "best" picture to place in the article. For an FA, I would rather have the "floating head" over a picture of him with a grin taken out of context. However, I wasn't going to edit war over it. Reply to your "unsolicited advice"

That's just it, I really haven't done anything wrong. They just test my patience and try to provoke me. If they don't get their way, they want me to pay. I am remaining distant and have ignored them, but since they "wikihound" me (including talking about getting me banned which I have documented for my records), they come back around to give their input which is usually wrong. It's all smoke screens. But thanks for the "advice" and best of luck on your article(s). I am staying away from the ones those listed on my talk page work on all together, which means you'll have to keep your baseball article current if you want. I've decided to resign from them except KC. That is not giving up or pouting, I just feel it best to ignore them since they are toxic and cause me to be counter-productive. I already knew he/they were wrong. That is what upset some of the editors I think, although they won't admit it, in addition to me doing such a great job on the baseball articles which made them jealous maybe. That and because I use an IP and won't create an account for their benefit perhaps. I don't know for sure, I'm speculating, but I think my contentions are accurate. Oh well... Even if you are right and they are picking on you for being an IP, it's only encouraging them to increase their scrutiny by accusing them of such. Dubious vs. Disputed?

Is that right?[3] I usually just tag things with {{fact}} when they are wholly unsourced. You might have a point though; my understanding of the tags, that "dubious" is just a low-key version of "disputed", would make them overlap in a lot of cases.... -- Kendrick7^talk 00:19, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

I noticed that you reinserted the flag icons at NBA, because I hadn't linked the discussion that I referred to in my edit summery. Yet you took part in that discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Basketball Association/Archive 19#Flags on All-Star Game articles and agreed with their removal. you also enforced the consensus at that time. My guess is that you forgot about the previous discussion. Colin Kaepernick

I am the original creator of the page. I removed the text because much of it is not relevant to the individual. What purpose does "unmarried, and almost out of wealth" serve in regards to the subject? It was added as a means to garner attention/sympathy for someone other than the subject. So yes, I think you made a mistake and I will be re-editing the page.

Hey Bagumba

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Hey Bagumba, I've gathered that you're a UCLA fan. I was wondering if you'd want to tackle any of the UCLA players who appear on national championship templates who don't have articles yet. The list can be found at User:Rikster2#National champ templates. There are still four players who need articles, and among those there are two (Kenny Booker & Larry Hollyfield) who each appear on two national champ templates.
