Please revert your move

Please revert your recent move of the article Khyber Agency because a move discussion about it is taking place at Talk:Kurram_Agency#Requested_move_29_June_2018. Why don't you wait for the discussion to end before the moves so that we can have consensus? Thanks for the cooperation, Khestwol (talk) 06:52, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi Anthony, though I was not aware of the comment above, I have reverted the move of Khyber Agency to Bajaur District because it appeared to be an error. There was already an open move discussion at Talk:Kurram Agency as noted here, where Khyber Agency was proposed to be moved to Khyber District (there is another article, Bajaur Agency, which is proposed to be moved to Bajaur District). I have noted somewhat belatedly that there was previous significant history of undiscussed moves being reverted to the original title (Khyber Agency) per WP:RMTR at the page, which resulted in move protection. I am assuming you were attempting to fulfill a request at "uncontroversial technical requests" that actually turned out not to be uncontroversial (there is already an editor opposing in the open move discussion), but please let me know if you need me to undo this reversion––I hope that it will not be taken as an attempt to wheel war. Best, Dekimasuよ! 09:05, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Anatolian peoples

Hey! I noticed you just moved the article Anatolian peoples to the title Ancient peoples of Anatolia after a request was made at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests#Uncontroversial technical requests. Such a move is in fact not uncontroversial. There is an ongoing discussion on this topic at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2018 July 2#Category:Anatolian peoples. In your rationale for the move you say that "the scope of the article is the peoples of Anatolia in ancient times". This is wrong. The summary of the article says that its scope is "Indo-European peoples of Anatolia identified by their use of the Anatolian languages." Information about peoples of Anatolia in ancient times is already contained at List of ancient peoples of Anatolia. In fact, the move you just made only created more problems. Krakkos (talk) 11:35, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

It has resolved one of many problems existing in the area of Anatolian peoples and languages. It is not clear at all what the two articles Ancient peoples of Anatolia and List of ancient peoples of Anatolia are meant to be about but they mostly discuss the peoples. These are scoping problems and I have to say that both articles need a lot of work before they will be of much use. If Ancient peoples of Anatolia is to be developed as a linguistic study it needs to be re-titled, again, to something like Languages of ancient Anatolia.
On the other hand, List of ancient peoples of Anatolia is supposed to be about the peoples but there are strong references to the Kartvelian and Kaskian languages, so it is just not clear what the intention is for either article. Perhaps they should be merged and a new article begun about linguistics? Thank you. Izzat Kutebar (talk) 12:51, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
Let me explain the difference to you in the simplest terms.
These are separate subjects that deserve separate articles with precise titles. Krakkos (talk) 13:31, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
Until this ancient "ethnolinguistic group" theory is well-sourced in the article and gains a consensus, I think this conversation is pretty pointless.Seraphim System (talk) 14:38, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

RE: Intellectual Dark Web

Hello! Just wanted to clarify that I only recreated the page to redirect it as was specifically mentioned in the close of the AfD " It can also be editorially redirected, as a plausible search term, to Eric Weinstein#Intellectual dark web". Just wanted to make sure you were aware of that statement in the close. I think the redirect should still exist and would have thought it would have needed to go back through AfD or something similar before deleting it, since a redirect was specifically mentioned as an option in the last AfD. zchrykng {T|C} 19:23, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi Anthony, This is up at FAC and I just wanted to check that the start of the page history is ok - it was supposed begun after a WP:RM request, but begins without any indication of its origin. Please see the history and the discussion at the FAC first point in my section. Do you think this is ok? On another point. There is Yeomanry Cavalry (disambiguation) which redirects to Yeomanry after an edit by you in February, and isn't hatnoted at either Yeomanry or Yeomanry Cavalry Johnbod (talk) 13:11, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. Would you say there is any reason to object top it being FA on the grounds of this? It sounds like no. Johnbod (talk) 14:51, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

Version 2 page for 2018 US Darts Masters

The page Draft:2018 US Darts Masters (version 2) was deleted as a broken redirect. But it had some non-redirect revisions in its history. So, can you please undelete that page, move it to 2018 US Darts Masters (version 2), and then retarget the redirect to 2018 US Darts Masters? GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 23:52, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Rahul Aggarwal

The article Rahul Aggarwal is now about an Indian producer. But it also had deleted revisions about a business manager. To avoid confusion, you should move all the deleted revisions for Rahul Aggarwal and Talk:Rahul Aggarwal to Rahul Aggarwal (manager) and Talk:Rahul Aggarwal (manager) respectively, and then immediately re-delete the business manager page and its talk page. Invalid carriage

Hi Anthony - I was starting to edit and tidy up the Invalid carriage article, but was puzzled when I found the talk page deleted. I note that you moved the talk page for this article to Cars for wheelchair users in 2016. Was the intent to merge the two articles? NealeFamily (talk) 10:16, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

Thanks - I think there is merit in merging the two articles, so will seek comment NealeFamily (talk) 00:27, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
After further research I have decided against a merge as invalid carriages pre-date cars by several hundred years. And thanks for your edit. NealeFamily (talk) 10:34, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

What should I do?

Hi!

The other day I put in a request for a histmerge because I found that Japanese Pig was created by copy and pasting content from Japanese Boar. When I read WP:CutPaste I thought that asking for a histmerge might solve the content fork problem, but since you rejected it I suppose that wasn't the way to go. But since that's the case, do you have any suggestions for what should be done with the redundant article? Should it be changed to a redirect?

Regarding labeling a valid page hoax

Hi, Karam Apnaa Apnaa (G3: Blatant hoax) was deleted by you recently. Let us get this straight, the programme tv show is very much real and there are very well established references that are available on internet for the article use. This is more than a decade old famous show and the wikipedia article was crucial for information on it and deleting it is like deleting it from history. A request to kindly undelete it and in turn I will provide the page with solid 5 references? My gripe is that it has wrongly been labeled as hoax and we hope to right out wrong on wikipedia. Innovit page deletion

Hi Anthony, as noted on the "contest this deletion" page for Innovit, this page should not be speedily deleted because it is intended to be a purely informational, non-promotional entry backed by reliable sources. If the article does appear to be promotional, it is simply written according to the sources. The references come from legitimate sources, and, given the chance to update or recreate the page, the content can be toned down and address the "not in citation given" tags placed on the page before it was deleted. For instance, the third source from Becker’s Hospital Review directly supports Innovit's work in the healthcare and supply chain industries, but more language from the source could be inserted to eliminate any missed connection between the source and the Wikipedia entry -- and thereby address the "not in citation given" tag.

If the deletion can be lifted from this page for updates to be made, that would be much appreciated. If not, that would be fine too for you to even move the article to a userspace where I can improve the article. I'd like to create the best page possible while meeting administrator guidelines to help improve Wikipedia, not spam an article. Jahub (talk) 22:01, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

I don't want to promote through wiki. I know this is encyclopedia. But Still I don't believe why this happened. I have read several company articles in wiki, then I had prepared the post.

Can you please tell me what is the difference between the page I have created and about this company page? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluehost

i know it's hard to publish article through wiki. But why???

why we can't publish company info. We have not that much capable to post simple company information. As you mentioned can you please tell me where link spamming done through this article?

Frank Klausz deletion

Hi, was that an article on Frank Klausz the woodworker? Unless it was some sort of attack page, I can't see any justification for deleting it, 7 minutes after tagging. Article quality might have been an issue, but he (the woodworker) at least has been a sourceable, notable worker, and mostly educator, in the field for decades. Andy Dingley (talk) 08:24, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

  • @Andy Dingley: The substance of the article was merely "Frank Klausz is a American woodworker, cabinetmaker and architect. He owns and operates a cabinet shop in Pluckemin, New Jersey.". It was rejected as not notable. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 08:54, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
Hmmm, I thought it used to be longer than that? He passes WP:N pretty easily, although as always there's a big difference between that and having an article which shows it. No great loss, I guess. Thanks Andy Dingley (talk) 09:09, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

You speedily deleted Vivek (playback singer), presumably because you interpreted this comment by its creator as a request for deletion (G7). However, in conjunction with that user's actual attempt to remove the AfD template (see User talk:Ecstaticmind#Issuing level 1 warning about removing AfD template from articles before the discussion is complete. (Peachy 2.0 (alpha 8))), I'm fairly convinced that deletion, let alone speedy, was not their intention. Not having seen the article in question in any form or shape, I have no opinion on the merits of the article itself.  --Lambiam 10:03, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

  • @Anthony Appleyard: You know why I didn't link an episode list? SINCE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT SEASON IT WAS EVEN FROM! In fact, I don't even KNOW what this episode is named! And that's a BIG problem since I can't calculate what season it was FROM so that I can LINK an episode list! But, the recorded version I had did not display the episode number OR the season. So that's why I didn't link an episode list! Because the recorded version DID NOT SHOW THE EPISODE NUMBER OR A SEASON! Popthemop27 (talk)06:35, 22 August 2018 (EDT)

Histmerge?

Hi Anthony, I've asked for Nova (RL Grime album) to be histmerged with Draft:Nova (RL Grime album), as a page move I asked for took place earlier and the page histories were swapped. Both main editors who contributed to the draft also edited the main article (before its move) as well, in what looks like a bit of an attempt to flesh it out there, and I think it's important to preserve. What do you think? Ss112 18:24, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

Hello, Anthony. Would you please decline the above request? The page requested for histmerge should've been speedy deleted per WP:G6 as it is a redirect with insignificant history that was in the way of moving the article out of draftspace. It would be unfair to the content writers (Anode and MicroPowerpoint) to have their 3-day contribution history be placed after the redirect creation despite them properly following the process of creating and requesting uncontroversial deletion of the redirect. In this discussion, both the original authors of the article indicated disapproval to merging the history of the pages. Also, @Sergecross73: had once told Ss112 to cease telling editors to stop deleting his redirects and this request of histmerge is an attempt of that because it circumvents the uncontroversial deletion process and it allows him to appear as the page creator, which in my opinion, is absolutely unjust and could possibly be considered misattribution due to letting a redirect creator appear as the content writer. The editor whose username is Z0 19:18, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
@Z0: You don't know my motives, all you have is speculation and a link from my talk page that you evidently have stored away to drag up at times like this. Let's get one thing straight: The only user who's engaged in anything underhanded relating to "getting credit" on articles is you, hence why you are still barred from moving pages related to music even despite making a new account—and that's not even to link to all the times admins (Primefac, Sergecross73, and so on—even page movers like Ammarpad) told you under Zawl to quit it, but here's just one instance on Primefac's page. You can attempt to influence decisions where I'm involved all you wish, but let us not forget you've actually done things against our policies and guidelines; all you have on me is opinions from you and Sergecross73. Much more of this and you may just be told to stay away from the topic altogether. You can try to distance yourself from what you've done and try to influence things like this but those things you've done are going to haunt you as long as you're on Wikipedia, no matter how bad you try to make others look. Ss112 03:53, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
I know all of what's happened with the page being moved after I requested it at WP:RM/TR and the histmerge being denied (Primefac has also informed me we don't generally preserve cut-and-paste moves, which I will remember for the future), I was mostly just responding to Z0's speculation on my motives. Hi Anthony, Could you move this to Vienna porcelain, over the redirect? "Viennese Porcelain Manufactory" is just wrong - it should be Vienna Porcelain Manufactory, but "Vienna porcelain" is better & more the common name I think - the modern factory is always called Augarten to avoid confusion. When you moved Dreaming tree (Geumcheon-gu 'ggumna') to Dreaming Tree (café), you forgot to suppress the creation of a redirect, which is why I filed it at WP:MOVEREQ instead of doing it myself. Why did you histmerge Draft:Slime Language and Slime Language?

I didn't even know there was a draft when I made the article, and nothing I made on my article was like what the user had written on their draft, and now you've taken credit away from me on an article I started myself by giving it to somebody who made a non-notable draft that was never going to be promoted to article status on its own. You've now given into Z0's grudge against me, and I'd like you to undo it because as other editors around here say, it's not fair to take credit away from one editor for writing an article themselves. There is no commonality between what Aitch & Aitch wrote and what I made. I believe you have said yourself that two pages that have different histories and clearly do not come from one another do not have to be histmerged, and even if there is a draft of an existing page, it doesn't have to be promoted to mainspace if it was never going to be in the state it was in. Please undo this, because you are taking credit away from editors who have made their own articles and quite honestly, it's not fair to do this. Ss112 07:02, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

The draft was one sentence and looks nothing like what I subsequently wrote. As a draft, one sentence is not going to be made promoted to mainspace or pass our notability requirements. I wish you would look a bit further when accepting/carrying out histmerge requests because this did not need to be done as it's quite clear nothing from the draft was in my article. You previously judged this for yourself when Jax 0677 tagged a song article I made for histmerge when I took nothing from what was on the other article. It's right there in the history that nothing the other user wrote is in my revision, so essentially all you've done is merged two different pages into one because a user who stalks my edits and has a grudge against me asked you to. Ss112 07:19, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

See also the discussion on my talk page. The editor whose username is Z0 08:04, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

@Anthony Appleyard: Yes, I know that now, but I asked if you could undo the histmerge due to what I just explained, because it's giving another user credit when I took nothing from their draft. You yourself have previously stated that if it's obvious no copy-and-pasting happened, parallel histories can exist—I don't believe a draft is an exception to this. Ss112 08:50, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
  • @Ss112 and Z0: I have deleted the 2 oldest edits (by User:Aitch & Aitch Aitch). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 09:29, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
This isn't right. The 2 edits shouldn't have been deleted because they're a draft about the album. This is the same as selectively removing contributions from a page because an editor asked. The editor whose username is Z0 15:44, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
  • @Ss112 and Z0: I seem to be caught in a dispute. Should I undelete those 2 edits, or not, or what? Please decide. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 15:57, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
Please do so. The editor whose username is Z0 15:59, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
Please don't restore them to the mainspace page; if you restore them, restore them to the draft where they belong. I made the content. I deserve credit, and putting "Aitch & Aitch Aitch" first makes my contributions secondary when I made the content myself, and did not inherit it from another editor. As previously stated by you, Anthony, parallel histories do not need to be combined and I took nothing from the existing draft. Z0 should not get to decide what happens on a page they made no substantial contributions to, and they were neither the creator of neither, so they can "disagree" all they like. Z0's grudge against me has been well documented (they are currently restricted from making page moves related to music partly because of this); you can ask Primefac if you're unfamiliar with this. So their input into decisions where I am concerned should not be taken as valid and should be disregarded. They are attempting to influence page moves/histories while they have been restricted from this. Ss112 16:04, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
I'm just defending the original author's contributions because (1) they created the page first (2) your redirect habits could be WP:GAMING as you've done it multiple times (3) Sergecross73 has also told you about this multiple times yet you're still adamant in preventing authors from getting the attribution they deserve. The editor whose username is Z0 16:09, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
I took nothing from their draft. They created one sentence. I made a full page that had nothing to do with their draft. Parallel histories do not need to be combined. You can tag any admins you like. Sergecross73 said nothing about that whatsoever to me. He asked for me to stop telling editors where to create pages. I have done nothing like this "multiple times". At this point you're just making things up to see what sticks. If I have, prove it. You should not get a say when you have been restricted from moves related to music. You're attempting to influence decisions yet again when you should stay well away from the entire matter because of your restrictions. You're trying to take credit away from me here. Nothing more, nothing less. Who's the one restricted here? You. You're in the wrong and your opinion here is not needed. Thanks. Ss112 16:13, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
One sentence or not, it is still substantial. To simply overwrite it with your content is stealing. It's like going to Justin Bieber then asking an admin to delete the logs just so your version would be there. Or a more relevant example - creating at Timeless Misadventures when a draft is still pending review at Draft:Timeless Misadventures. The editor whose username is Z0 16:32, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
Literally what are you on about? You're getting ridiculous. I didn't overwrite anything myself. Anthony deleted Aitch & Aitch Aitch's draft creation from my article without me asking for it. Do you see me anywhere asking for anything to be deleted? No, you don't. I was happy for Aitch & Aitch Aitch's edits to stay at the draft, which is where they belong, not on content I created. Ss112 16:39, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
You created your version in the mainspace while there was a draft in the draftspace. Normal Wikipedia practice is to incorporate the draft into the mainspace article to prevent contribution deletion and to preserve history which is always important (WP:HM), especially when the initial revisions aren't just redirects or taggings that are insignificant. The editor whose username is Z0 16:48, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
It is not normal Wikipedia practice when the draft has nothing to do with the mainspace article (if it is, by all means prove it), if they have clearly been separately created and one is not from the other. And yes, we've covered this. I didn't know the draft existed. You can believe what you like about that; I don't care. Stop trying to take credit away from me and trying to influence music page moves when you've been asked to steer clear of them. Thanks. Ss112 16:53, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
Both the draft and the mainspace article are about the same topic which is the album called Slime Language by American rapper Young Thug. No one's told me to stop "influencing music page moves" and I'm not doing it to gain anything or to take anything away from you but just so the original author doesn't lose attribution. The editor whose username is Z0 16:58, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
I didn't say you had been told to "stop influencing page moves", but it's not a good look that you're still around attempting to influence them when you are restricted from making them for a reason...and that was for making disruptive page moves. The fact that you did that really proves you don't care about other users' attribution. I honestly don't think you care about the user Aitch & Aitch Aitch either. Nobody is trying to take anything from Aitch; they made the draft. That's all. If you did care about users receiving 'proper attribution', I'm sure you could find plenty of other cases on Wikipedia where users have "lost attribution". But yet you're arguing with me, the very user you have a history of making disruptive page moves against....hmm...funny that, isn't it? Ss112 17:10, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
What's my move restriction got to do with this discussion? I haven't violated it and the restriction doesn't say I'm not allowed to discuss or request anything related to moves. Please stop using ad hominems. YOU are trying to take Aitch's attribution away by getting their revisions deleted. I could go on a witch hunt to find all the lost attribution cases but I don't have the resources or needed tools. I just happen to encounter you in these disputes because we seem to be in the same editing field (albums/music) and you're one of the only editors who tend to take away the original author's attribution (e.g. Nova (RL Grime album), and a lot more, I do not intend to look for them at this time unless if I have to). The editor whose username is Z0 17:37, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
Again, I didn't ask for Aitch's contributions to be deleted. Stop attributing things to me I never asked for. Again, you're making crap up about me taking "author's attribution away from them"...you think that's what I asked for with Nova, that's all. You actually have the history of (attempting to) take attribution away from other users before you were found out. Anyone can look at the history of Flume discography for themselves before it was corrected. What I asked for here is all above. I asked Anthony to restore the revisions to the draft history, not delete them from visibility all together. Nobody is taking anything away from Aitch. You keep saying this but it makes no sense. Aitch contributed nothing to the mainspace article. Nobody touched their one sentence draft. Users don't get credit for things they didn't do. Simple. End of story. Ss112 17:42, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
Unless you can prove draft histories are required to be merged with mainspace articles even when neither was influenced by the other, you don't really have a point. You're going around in circles and trying to make me look bad with accusations of "stealing" when you are the one with a disruptive page move history, not me. Anthony will make his own judgement, and honestly, I think he already has. You're just annoyed you didn't get your way. Histmerges shouldn't be carried out where there is a disagreement and no policy one way or the other. Ss112 17:50, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
  • Anthony, I think you should exercise your own judgement here. You will see I took nothing from a one-sentence-long draft. Z0 and I will not agree. I don't think if histmerges are debated that they should be completed. Ss112 16:27, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

Why did you histmerge Draft:Slime Language and Slime Language? (part 2)

@Ss112, Z0, Aitch & Aitch Aitch, Primefac, and Sergecross73: Following the above, I have added a request to move the "short" revisions for Slime Language back to Draft:Slime Language at WP:RFHM. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 16:29, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

  • Anthony, I respected and admired your work in the histmerge department long before I got the mop, but this has to be the worst histmerge I've ever seen anyone do. There was zero reason to merge a one-sentence draft into what was clearly a well-thought-out article, even if it did get created afterwards. I have therefore un-split the histories. Primefac (talk) 19:11, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
  • @Ss112, Z0, Aitch & Aitch Aitch, Primefac, and Sergecross73: User:Primefac has moved Aitch & Aitch Aitch's edits back to the draft page. Can we please leave it like that and treat the matter as settled?? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 20:52, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
    • OK, 3 edits are now back at the draft. We now need to find out what to do with that draft. Some possible options include:
      • Immediately delete it, and leave it redlinked
      • Immediately redirect it to the article, keeping the history
      • Immediately delete it, and then recreate it as a redirect to the article
      • Move it to another reasonable redirect title in mainspace, and then redirect the page to the article
      • Userfy it to User:Aitch & Aitch Aitch/Slime Language
      • Leave it as is until 17 February 2019, when it will be deleted per G13.
    • GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 21:31, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
There is no need to do anything with the draft. However, since there is an article with the same title, it makes the most sense to redirect the draft there. Primefac (talk) 21:39, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
      @Primefac: In Special:Diff/855406924, JJMC89 redirected Draft:Slime Language to Slime Language, implementing the 2nd option above. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 14:44, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you fur taking care of this, Anthony. I’ve warned both editors to stop wasting their time with this sort of nonsense, arguing over who gets credit for first edit. It. Doesn’t. Matter. Who. Gets. First. Edit. They’ll likely get blocked the next time they pull this again. Sergecross73 msg me 00:44, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

Ss112 06:32, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
FYI, you made those claims on my page by quoting Hayman30 not him so the burden's on you to prove it or else it's a violation of WP:NPA. He didn't confirm or deny saying those things. • @Ss112, Z0, Aitch & Aitch Aitch, Primefac, and Sergecross73: In my experience, if there have been two or more attempts to write an article on a subject (say X), and the latest of them is the current article on X, it seems to be a fairly regular practice to history-merge all those attempts into one page X, if none of them are WP:Parallel histories, or to write the new article on top of old redirected or deleted attempts. Hi. Thanks for your response. It is very much appreciated. RHaworth did something similar to what was in my mind. I have a few doubts though. I went through the WP:HISTMERGE page again, but it is not much informative as to "what history merging" is; it is mostly about how to perform it. As far as I understand now, the history can be merged when the two pages do not have intersecting edits in the timeline, right? Lydia Janssen page deletion - can it be reinstated?

Hello Sir,

I see that you deleted the page for artist Lydia Janssen. Can it be put back up again? I did pay some Indian company $200 or something for it when they spammed me. I didn't know paying wasn't allowed, I was busy at the time and wanted to save myself the time working out how to create pages.

I apologise I didn't read the rules on that. But the page was accurate and I think unbiased. I see that other artists at similar stages of their career (for example cecily brown) have wikipedia entries.

How do I get the page reinstated? or should I write another one. I feel stupid now for wasting money. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lukejanssen (talkcontribs) 14:21, 24 August 2018 (UTC)

  • @Lukejanssen: Page Lydia Janssen was tagged db-spam as "1st ref is fraudulent; is not from nytimes but rather is an SPS press release. Other refs are WP:COPYLINK violations hosted on artist's own website. Has unsourced content about personal life. Please remove from mainspace ASAP." by User:Jytdog at 20:29, 18 August 2018. How can I get it reinstated? Do I correctly refer to external press sources? And takeaway any links to the artists website?

Deletion of a draft version of a deleted article

It seems weird to delete a draft article for any reason other than copyright violation or, I don't know, evil or something. Duplication of a deleted article is actually a great reason for a draft article. The article was deleted for insufficiently broad documentation. It would have been an easy article to fix but I didn't have time, so I saved it as a draft for later use. A professional researcher who starts/improves Wikipedia articles as part of her library job already told me she'd added it to her queue and had wrangled a number of sources. So the draft was for her use as well. Regardless of those facts, drafts are for unfinished articles. An article that was deleted because it was unfinished is appropriately made into a draft. In fact, I've known one admin who did just that rather than deleting, which was very cool of her. Please restore Draft:Joseph Barlow Forbes. Thank you. Thmazing (talk) 19:24, 27 August 2018 (UTC)

Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain move

Hi Anthony, please revert the move that was requested by AncestorTrracer and processed by you in good faith. While it is correct that the municipal classification is in fact rural municipality, its official legal name is the Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. Evidence can be found on the municipality's own official website, and in the provincial regulation that created the amalgamated municipality (see sections 2 and 4). Also note the use of two spaces and dash in the official legal name. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 05:32, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

You may want to reconsider the other move as well. Provincial legislation has the official legal name as Rural Municipality of Minto – Odanah. Thus the use of two spaces and the endash is correct. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 05:42, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
Thanks but not quite. Should be back to the original Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. Otherwise we have one of ninety-eight not at official legal names at Category:Rural municipalities in Manitoba. Hwy43 (talk) 05:31, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, Anthony. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 05:40, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

History merge may be mistaken

Hi Anthony, please review the history of Draft:Al-Ahli SC Handball (Amman) and Draft:Al-Ahli SC Basketball (Amman), as both pages now refer to the handball team. Might you have mixed up the page history for the basketball and handball teams? – Fayenatic London 08:33, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

Histmerge requests

Hey Anthony, could you help me with a few histmerges? An editor has been creating blank/unreferenced/one-sentence articles when substantial drafts made by other users on the same subject exist, then either copy-pasting the article contents over themselves or waiting for someone else to do so. The following all could do with a histmerge so that the original edits are attributed and preserved. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, it should be Sabrina (graphic novel) and Sabrina (comics). The former already redirects to the latter but if a histmerge can be done, that'll be great. Bennv3771 (talk) 11:20, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
@Anthony Appleyard: Pinging in case you missed this. Can a histmerge be done in this case? I don't think there are any overlapping edits. Bennv3771 (talk) 05:50, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
@Bennv3771: Sorry,  Not done. Editing Sabrina (graphic novel) ran at about 800 bytes long. At the same time, editing Sabrina (comics) ran at about 11400 bytes long. And the two are WP:Parallel histories. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 08:46, 8 September 2018 (UTC)

Fishstick and fish finger

Hey, since you seem to be an army of one when it comes to these, I figured I'd start here. It looks like Fishstick (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and Fish finger (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) have been the victim of repeated copy/paste moves. First, would it be possible to get the history sorted out on that? =) Second, would it be possible (per WP:ENGVAR) to get the final page placed at Fishstick (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) with a redirect from Fish finger (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)? Thanks! —Locke Coletc 03:18, 8 September 2018 (UTC)

  • @Locke Cole: I have looked at pages fishstick and fish finger, and they are very WP:Parallel histories. Where there was copy-and-paste rather than cut-and-paste, I would have to cut one history to rejoin another history. I cannot do anything with a partial cut/copy-and-paste. These 2 pages have well over 500 edits each, and I would have to examine all those edits one by one. Best put history notes at the starts of their talk pages. And we need a public discussion about whether to use the name 'fishstick' or 'fish finger' :: we have here another petrol/gasoline-type persistent transatlantic word usage difference. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:33, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
    • Yuck, I took a brief look at the histories, and it looked like it was salvagable, but I didn't do a deep dive. Apologies. :( And I'll see if I can cook up a discussion on the naming. The only reason I lean towards "fish stick" is because the very first edit back in 2004 used the name "fish stick". Seems like some of the copy/paste moves were the result of not being able to literally move the article. I almost wish there was an admin ability to force a page to remain a redirect so issues like this could be avoided (I know page protection might help here, but something that just disallowed removing the #REDIRECT from the top of the article text would suffice). Thank you again. —Locke Coletc 06:52, 8 September 2018 (UTC)

Does this qualify for Speedy G4 again (I can't see the previous version)? If so, might need salting. PamD 15:39, 9 September 2018 (UTC)

HSL and HSV

  • hi Anthony, I wasnt aware that you were also working on it and It seems like we both (edit conflict)ed on this page move involving multiple pages. please review my edits and check if something more needs to be done. I can see that Cylindrical-coordinate color model still has some content which it should not have had. It should have been a redirect if everything had gone well. --DBigXray 22:27, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
  • @DBigXray: Currently HSL and HSV contains new history only, and HSL and HSV (version 2) contains the old history. Do these 2 need to be swapped? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:33, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

Feedback: handling of requested move

First off, I'd like to thank you for all the excellent work you did with the numerous requests I filed at WP:RMT.

Here's a feedback to a request that was handled poorly earlier this year, when admin GB fan disregarded said request and created a new page instead ("no need to move, just create a new redirect"). The way this was handled is not only discouraging, but also undermines the concept of preserving a coherent edit history of this naming-anomaly. Hope this feedback is appreciated. Rfassbind – talk 10:02, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

Please explain your histmerges

I must be missing something here. An editor creates two identical articles one after the other. I redirect one to the other. Why then do you delete this, perform a histmerge, and restore this, meaning that we now have a much more complicated history (with two creations) for what appears to be zero benefit to the encyclopedia, the readers, or the editors? No attribution was lost before your histmerge, but after your edits, my redirecting is lost and your actions supersede it. This seems like a total waste of time and energy to make things worse, not better. Fram (talk) 11:51, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

This is about 2018–19 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season and 2018–19 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season, btw Fram (talk) 11:52, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

  • @Fram: There is only one history, and it is in 2018–19 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season (with an en dash after the '2018'). 2018-19 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season (with a hyphen after the '2018') has only 2 edits, and they are both redirects. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 20:43, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
    • That's not an explanation of the histmerge, that's a description of the result of your histmerge. Please explain why you felt the need to change the actual history (editor creates two identical articles, I redirect one to the other) to the fake history we have now (one article has been created twice by same editor despite not being deleted inbetween, you redirected the other, and my redirect is for some reason deleted). I see no reason at all why you could leave the original history alone. Please restore the situation before your unnecessary and confusing histmerge (i.e. bring back the full history of 2018–19 Mid–American Conference men's basketball season, with the initial creation and edits by the editor, and my subsequent redirection). Fram (talk) 06:40, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
  • @Fram: 2018-19 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season (with a hyphen after the '2018', hereinafter "page X") redirects to 2018–19 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season (with an en dash after the '2018', hereinafter "page Y"); if someone clicks on both to compare their histories, the click on a link to page X automatically redirected to page Y, and the click on a link to page Y showed page Y, and thus, if he then looks at both their histories, they both displays the history of page Y, and it looks like 2 identical histories. In page Y's history, I take that you want me to extract the edit "22:38, 11 September 2018‎ EspinosaLuisJr1791", and move it to page X; but it is an exact copy-and-paste of the previous edit "22:19, 11 September 2018‎ EspinosaLuisJr1791". Anthony Appleyard (talk) 08:05, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
    • What nonsense. Every redirect has that problem. That's no reason to perform a histmerge. WP:HISTMERGE is for "WFixing cut-and-paste moves", not for editors creating the same page with different titles routinely. They are not renaming pages, they routinely created duplicate pages which I all redirected, but where for one of them (and not the others) theat history has now been totally obscured under the guise of "it looked like two identical histories", which your histmege doesn't change one bit, making your whole justification for this histmerge moot.
    • A histmerge should be done to give correct attribution (which isn't needed here), after a copy-paste move by someone else. The reason for a histmerge is "we need to keep the history with the content for copyright reasons." (emphasis mine). No such need existed here.
    • Anyway, your page X, "2018-19 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season", is of no interest to me. You nor I ever touched that one. The page that needs its history restored is 2018–19 Mid–American Conference men's basketball season (long dash between Mid and American, not short dash), which now has a "View or restore one deleted edit?" in the history which should be restored. Whether the first four or the last one edit of the histmerge needs to be moved back to that article I don't know, but the history of that editor creating two identical pages (for which he has been warned), with my redirection of them, should be preserved, as there is no reason at all to histmerge them (attribution isn't needed as it is the same editor, and the excuse that due to it being a redirect, people see the same history at X and at Y is of course not solved by this, as they are still a redirect where people see the same history twice, but now they get a much more confusing history where a page is cerated twice apparently, and you then did a move, which is all very confuysing for the readers you supposedly want to serve). Fram (talk) 08:52, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
  • (talk page watcher)@Fram: After finishing this discussion, may I also request to update the WP:HISTMERGE page. I recently read it and i was still not sure, which cases does the HISTMERGE applies and where the copy paste applies. The above discussion actually turns out to be more informative. regards. --DBigXray 09:55, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
  • @Fram:  Done, I hope. (I remember that someone asked me to make that history-merge.) Anthony Appleyard (talk) 11:04, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
    • Thanks. You ended with two full articles, so I deleted the unnecessary histmerge and only kept the original history (creation plus redirect) instead. The other article seems fine. Fram (talk) 11:16, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
  • @Fram: We seem to have THREE versions of the page name:
    1. 2018–19 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season: dash then hyphen :: 6 text edits
    2. 2018–19 Mid–American Conference men's basketball season: dash then dash
    3. 2018-19 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season: hyphen then hyphen :: not touched by me, ends in redirect
    • Which of these is the correct name? Hyphen and dash look the same in Wikipedia edit mode. This has been dashed confusing. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 11:04, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
    • The correct one is the current article: dash for a date range, hyphen for a joined adjective. The third one gets autocreated by Anomiebot because the dash is for many people hard to type (not standard on the keyboard, you need some alt-### combo to get to it). But in the end which of the three (or the fourth possible combination) gets used is something others may decide, I usually do everything with hyphens and never use the dash but I know that that's not the standard here. Fram (talk) 11:44, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
The version with two endashes should probably be deleted. I think it was created in error. And where one editor creates the same content in two places, hist merging is not necessary. The second copy establishes a separate history its and is self contained from an attribution point of view.  — Amakuru (talk) 12:54, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

Anthony, sorry to bother you - please revert this undiscussed move from the usual term (High Renaissance), for which a rather silly rationale is given by a fairly new user. Johnbod (talk) 01:04, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

Move of Char siu to Cha siu

Hello! You just moved this page in response to a "request" somewhere else (which I can't see). But it needs to be discussed on the talk page of the article. The claims in the "request" are at least in part simply false: the term generally used in English appears to be "Char siu", and until recently this was the name used throughout the article. The "request" confuses two things: terms commonly used in English ("char siu") and (more or less standardised) romanisations of Chinese words (cha siu); in other words I think this is not NPOV reporting of the real world, but what someone thinks the real world ought to be. I'm not sure of the best way to handle this: just to move back, and start a talk page discussion?? Imaginatorium (talk) 04:06, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

B.o.B

I just took a look at the history of the title of the B.o.B article (note the absence of a dot after the second 'B'). Mord Fustang

You have restored 119 revisions for Mord Fustang, but then re-deleted the page and restored only 88 revisions. Please discuss the controversial issue of whether the rest of the deleted revisions should stay deleted or be restored. If they should stay deleted, then you should simply delete the page and restore all the revisions from December 2016 and later except revisions 755477897, 768878199, 796280190, and 802963582 (since one of these was mistakenly restored). Also, in that case, Talk:Mord Fustang should be deleted and then have only the revisions from December 2016 and later be restored, leaving the earlier revisions deleted. Perhaps, the deleted revisions for the article from 2015 to early 2016 should also be moved back to Draft:Mord Fustang, where they were originally from. Otherwise, the article should be deleted and then all the revisions except the 4 mentioned earlier restored. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 16:31, 24 October 2018 (UTC)

Please do the following, then, to avoid confusion:

GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 22:49, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

    • By "Finally, restore the remaining deleted revisions for Mord Fustang", I hope you mean restore only revisions after the most recent creation on December 18, 2016. If that's the case, there shouldn't be any issue. Flooded with them hundreds 03:34, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Anthony Appleyard, I'm disappointed to see you speedied this, despite the objection raised on the article's talk page — did you consider it?

I contend the new version was totally different and overcame the (perceived) shortcomings concerning notabiity. Far more independent reliable sources were cited in the new article and process does allow "re-creation" of a previously deleted article if these new additional sources are provided.

I further contend that, as a completely new article, it was out of process to be speedily deleted, but instead any attempt to remove it again should have been settled by the community on a new AFD.‎

Please re-consider.  JGHowes  talk 21:50, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

It is unclear to me how any of the information I added could be considered advertising, as it was simply factual, though I admit I had mistakenly been editing it in my user page rather than my sandbox, which I was under the impression I had been using. I need to retrieve my work urgently, as it is part of my class grade. Additionally, I will be moving this article to the main space when I am done, and I am happy to make any changes necessary to prevent it from being "speedily deleted" again.

History merge of two apparently independently-developed articles

Hi Anthony. The two articles are: Olympic Airways v. Hanson (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and Olympic Airways v. Husain (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). The COMMONNAME is Olympic Airways v. Husain. The Hanson article is the older of the two, and today it became a redirect to the Husain article. Both articles were apparently developed independently of each other and there is no cut and paste move involved, at least not yet. Is there a case for a history merge of these two articles, or should the material of the Hanson article be pasted to the Husain article with proper attribution? Dr. K. 06:51, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

  • @Dr.K.: Nobody history-merged them. They are WP:Parallel histories. The 2 articles are about Abid Hanson and his wife, Rubina Husain, who were together on the same flight. There was one lawsuit. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 07:07, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
  • Yes, I know. I was wondering if you could merge their histories now that they have been connected to one identical subject. Or should I just paste the info from the older one to the newer one? Dr. K. 07:11, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
  • @Dr.K.: I have text-merged them. They cannot be history-merged, because they are WP:Parallel histories. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 09:05, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

I am about to create the same page differently as I consider that the Nigerian startup community are quite prominent to be mentioned on Wikipedia starting with the e-commerce platforms. I plan to create for others as well who are making waves in the country and taking Africa to the world.

Hi Anthony Appleyard,

First off, I'd love to thank you for all the work you've done handling all of the move requests I have made in the last year. Truly, your work and effort is greatly appreciated. However, I messaging you to discuss a move that you made today that was done in error. You recently moved the draft (Draft: The Sword in the Stone (upcoming film)) to a new title at (Draft: The Sword in the Stone (2019 film)). This is an issue as there has been no confirmation from any reliable, secondary source as to when any of the television series or films that are being produced for Disney+ will premiere. All that has been confirmed is that the service will launch in late-2019. So, basically, The Sword in the Stone and all other upcoming Disney+ films should continue to be listed as upcoming until such as a time as Disney announced their official premiere dates. I hope you will initiate the moving of the draft back to its original title as soon as you are able. Also, please see Draft talk:The Sword in the Stone (2019 film) for the discussion that has been generated over this.

Fix mistaken history merge from Draft:Story

You should have histmerged Draft:Story to Draft:Story (social media), not Story (social media). Please correct this mistake by doing the following:

  1. Delete Story (social media) and restore the revisions from 15 November 2018 and earlier.
  2. Merge the above revisions to the history of Draft:Story (social media).
  3. Finally, restore the remaining revisions for the Story (social media) page, which is currently a redirect to Story#Social media.

GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 16:15, 18 November 2018 (UTC)

And finally, there is one more mistake that needs to be corrected. You have moved too many revisions to the draft's history. Please do the following history split steps:

  1. Delete Draft:Story (social media).
  2. Restore the revisions dated 07:12, 17 November 2018; 08:01, 18 November 2018 (middle two edits only); 08:04, 18 November 2018; 09:53, 18 November 2018 (both edits); and 16:01, 18 November 2018.
  3. Move the above 7 revisions back to Story (social media).
  4. Finally, restore the remaining revisions for Draft:Story (social media).

Anthony, you seem to have done a history move on this significant page with an hour or so of a completely undiscussed move by an editor with fewer than 200 edits over some 6 years! What on earth? At the least, you should set up a retrospective move discussion, and warn the editor about this sort of behaviour. Would this be picked-up by people who have the now-deleted old pages on their watchlists? There is a case for the move, but as you know, this is absolutely not how things should be done. Joseph Kalimbwe page

Hi Anthony, I was thinking about creating a page for Namibian student leader Joseph Kalimbwe and I notice that someone already tried to do this and it got deleted a few times. You closed the discussion I believe, saying that the piece was promotional and didn't establish notability. I create a lot of pages for people from underrepresented parts of the world, and a Namibian person on Twitter asked me if it would be possible to create a page for Kalimbwe. It seems to me that he might be notable enough, but that when someone tried to create the page before, they did it badly and broke NPoV rules. I wonder if you think that if I created the page again, with better sourcing and following guidelines, that it would still get deleted or not? Friday the 13th (1985 video game)

Question: Why was this article removed and turned into a redirect without any discussion on the talk page? The title in question was covered and reviewed in multiple books, magazines, websites, etc. I was in the process of cleaning up and expanding the article this afternoon.

More specifically, there is a book published by Bloomsbury Academic, as part of their Approaches to Digital Game Studies series, that goes into some analysis and detail on this title, but I had not gotten to that point before the page was removed. Thanks. --Surv1v4l1st Talk|Contribs 23:47, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

@Surv1v4l1st: It was history merged with the old redirect, which had substantial history. See User talk:Izno#Games with "computer game" disambiguation. You may wish to discuss there with Bignole, or maybe better would be to invite him to a discussion at Talk:Friday the 13th (1985 video game). --Izno (talk) 03:48, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the note. To be candid, I have neither the time nor the patience to further discuss such ancient history at this juncture. Instead, I have busied myself with improving the article, including adding relevant information from an academic publication released this year. Like most articles on Wikipedia, it is a work in progress. However, the title has plenty of coverage, spanning over three decades, so I am sure it can be properly refined. Thanks again for your reply and best of wishes. --Surv1v4l1st Talk|Contribs 04:00, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

Baba Ijebu

Hey Anthony, I see you deleted a page I created [Baba Ijebu registered as Premier Lotto Limited] and gave the reason as "Article about a company, corporation or organization, which does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject." Well I should let you know Baba Ijebu is the oldest and biggest lotto company in Nigeria operating since 2001 [9], I am surprised you deleted the page when most Nigerian lottos are underrepresented here on Wikipedia including Nigeria betting sites. Baba Ijebu was listed out of the two Nigeria lotto companies listed on Wikipedia Lotteries by country. Also a company that generates over 1 billion naira in taxes surely is of importance [10]. A company that allows citizens earn via commission is significant [11] See more stories on Baba Ijebu here It is also only the lotto company in Nigeria that operates online and offline [12]. A game that both women and men play [13], A woman played and lost 1.9 million naira in a single day [14]. Another woman killed her husband over Baba Ijebu [15], even cops are not left over. [16]. Baba Ijebu is seen as the hope for the common man and most average Nigerians play it on a daily basis [17] [18] [19]

They also signed a table tennis star, Quadri Haruna for $75,000 [20]. I believe with these verifiable links and notable sources, you will agree with me they sure are of importance and significant. Everybody, young or old knows Baba ijebu and even plays it. I think it operates in Ghana as well, not sure about though, I will have to do a research to confirm Mantosa (talk) 22:09, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

  • @Mantosa: The page Baba Ijebu also looks like advertisement (see WP:SPAM), and in my experience it is unlikely to survive an AfD discussion. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 23:27, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
  • @Anthony Appleyard: I don't understand you. You initially listed the page as being not significant and I provide several notable sources to back the creation. I noticed you restored it and then deleted it again claiming it looks like advertisement. I only made a few sentences and I expected other editors to elaborate/edit on it. Your claim now is it 'looks like an advertisement', like I said Nigeria lotto companies and betting sites are underreported in Wikipedia. I included it as a contribution and you deleting, restoring and deleting again makes me wonder what could be wrong. I was going to make a few edits on it and noticed you deleted it despite the notable sources I listed. You and every other contributors are the ones that make Wikipedia with your contributions. I am very sure the tone of the write up doesn't sound advertorial; see Bet9ja who started operations just 5 years ago is the only Nigeria betting site listed here. Baba Ijebu has been in existence for almost 2 decades, it sure deserves its spot in Wikipedia. If it goes through a discussion and gets deleted, I think I would be more satisfied instead of just deleting it and not allowing other contributors have an input. I think you should restored it and allow me or other contributors improve on it. Mantosa (talk) 00:00, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

I have used profiles such as #REDIRECT 21 and #REDIRECT 22 as examples and I see little difference between the three as an example... would less or more referencing help? More details in certain areas, or less? Please specify. Your advice is appreciated. Thank you

  • @Radarlight: It looks reasonably neutral. Best cut down on the amount of capitalizing of words. It must be admitted that it reads like a curriculum vitae. Best look at WP:NN and decide how notable in the field of greater events is the Thomas W. W. Johnson who the article is about. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 16:36, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

It appears you were asked, but...

It appears you were asked by FWTH to move his article over my redirect. By this point I'm sure you're well aware of our history of not getting along, but for the record, my comments at WP:RM/TR were not objections, so he didn't need to directly ask you. I knew the article he made would be moved over my redirect, I was simply saying I wish(ed) not to have my redirect history swapped with his userspace draft, as has previously happened. Ss112 13:59, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

@Ferret: FYI. --Izno (talk) 17:43, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Ugh. Anthony, not sure you know the history here or not.... I don't think there's anything wrong with honoring FWTH move requests but you should be aware there's a long standing issue of "article creation" gaming by FWTH. Often times, Ss112 has created valid redirects of songs to their albums. Later, FWTH will creates an article for the song under different names, then he either redirects the existing redirect to his new article, or asks for a technical move over the existing redirect, in order to get "first edit" credit. Activities like that led to his original page mover right removal. This has been going on for years, including deceptively using inappropriate unicode characters in article names so that the correct name can be redirected to it. -- ferret (talk) 18:45, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Nothing wrong with wanting credit for creating an article, WP:G6 exists for that purpose and Ss112 seems to create redirects only for that purpose I believe. Most editors who know me are aware I no longer do such a thing and haven't done for a long time, hence it's a little misleading and disparaging to say I often "will creates" as it puts me in a bad light. This hasn't gone on for years as the unicode issue was a one-time thing which resolved overnight and whether people believe me or not, was an accident caused by copy-pasting the title which consisted of the unicode. I noticed that many editors have done this - "will creates an article for the song under different names...then asks for a technical move over the existing redirect, in order to get first edit credit" - including Ss112 himself, take No Candle No Light / No Candle, No Light for example, and other editors including Another Believer and Jax 0677, whether deliberate or not, they have done it. Therefore, I wouldn't consider it fair to single me out, yes, you also involved yourself in that dispute last year on Sergecross73's talk page but please, stop singling me out when many other editors have done the same or even worse. @Ss112, I did not ask Anthony to move the page. As you know, my request was answered by Anthony at WP:RMT, thus it is likely the edit summary "asked" is about that. Flooded with them hundreds 19:19, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Oh dear God, you're not still trotting out the same arguments, are you? "The only reason Ss112 creates redirects is because he want credit"...please spare us. Then that would mean the only reason you or anybody makes a redirect is to "get credit" too. Seriously, stop attempting to drag me down to your level with this "credit" nonsense—it's like your favourite word. I never even wrote that word here or thought about it until you started saying it. It's like a politician using buzz words to drill it into everyone's minds. This is exactly what you said in your abusive email to me off-wiki the first time years ago and it doesn't appear you've changed a bit. And of course, you have a catalogue of examples of other editors' errors to compare them with your own deliberate actions... Anthony is sick of this, and I don't want to bore him with the same thing again. Same with Ferret. Please do just stop. Ss112 20:58, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

About WP:A7-d article Roxanne (band) - WP:REDIRECT to Play That Funky Music#Other cover versions without link to the band article?

Hi AA,

I was typing up an AFD submission that would have suggested that as alternative to outright deletion, it might possibly be a useful WP:REDIRECT to Play That Funky Music#Other cover versions, when you deleted the article.
What are your thoughts about this?

Recently created, implausible redirects

Good day! Why did you delete "The Profane Rights of Man", "Songs for the Dead Live", "Profane Rights of Man" and "My Sanity"? Three are Bad Religion songs, and the other is an upcoming King Diamond album. Please ping me when you respond. --Jax 0677 (talk) 19:17, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

  • @Jax 0677: I have undeleted them. User:Ss112 speedy-delete-tagged them as "a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer" and "not mentioned at the target". Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:41, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
@Jax 0677: I literally wrote on your talk page so you could have guessed why. When you make redirects, mention them at the target if they aren't already. Anthony, there's no reason to undelete them—the reason I nominated them still stands. Jax has no put zero effort into inserting them at the targets. I don't understand why if somebody asks you instantly undelete or undo what you've done...? Ss112 02:14, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

Hey Anthony,

You deleted my page on No/Hugs even though it was approved and checked by other members of the community. You just listed "multiple reasons" as an excuse. There was nothing wrong with it and I have created multiple wikipedia pages since to know that it was meeting all guidelines. Please restore?

A. It was not advertising. I already resolved this issue in April and re-wrote everything based on other band profiles.

B. It was not unimportant or insignificant. No/Hugs is a national band with performances at Vans Warped Tour, NAMM etc. There are other artists with less succesful careers that have wikipedia pages and it seems to be fine.

Hikoulini (talk) 12:19, 10 December 2018 (UTC)Hikoulini

I understand the reasons of deletion. Again I'm saying that if anything was perceived as promotional I could have re written it or paraphrased. Respectfully, No/Hugs is notable enough to have a Wikipedia page. I am basing this statements on other Wikipedia pages currently existing for other bands. Hikoulini (talk) 22:23, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

User:Anthony Appleyard thank you for considering my note and for undeleting. Hikoulini (talk) 22:28, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

Deletion of Bekir Kaya

Hi Appleyard,

I have seen that you have deleted Bekir Kaya. I would like to understand why. I have asked an Admin and the nominator of the deletion about what to change. The nominator answered, that it showed a 44% compatibility of the page with a source. I changed rather a lot, reformulated several phrases, but some info is simply as it is and should be able to be included. There are plenty of pages with simply a phrase like here or here. My article had education, professional and political career as well as legal prosecution. Before to speedy delete a page I have seen (thanks to your many links on the talk page) an Admin should decide if a page can not be saved. Now there were two phrases that were rather similar in the text. This was it. You could have just deleted these two phrases. The sources themselves were fine, sure as good as others also used. And Bekir Kaya is/was a rather influential human rights lawyer and mayor of a larger city. Julie Auger is someone in a University Administration and can stay, too. Why could Bekir Kaya not stay? Because of two phrases that could have been deleted or rephrased?

Just, I would like to understand why you deleted it, and what can be done better.

Best,

Delete "Good form" redirect

Hello

Hi. I'm not opening an RM on Apollo Lunar Module, just asking for the reversal of a controversial move. Did I put it in the wrong place? If so, please reverse the move to upper-case and let Dicklyon or someone else open the RM (if so I would have worded it different, thanks). Randy Kryn (talk) 05:42, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

  • @Randy Kryn: The move discussion at Talk:Apollo lunar module#Requested move 12 December 2018 now has 2 contradictory opinions. Better let that discussion run. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:55, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
    • But there is not opinion that I opened an RM, just asked for a reversal of a controversial move, a standard request. Dicklyon knew it would be controversial, moved it anyway (even Amakuru said in the RM that we'd discuss the Apollo Lunar Module when and if someone opened an RM there, which I did not do). And of course people will comment once an RM is up, especially if the article is kept at the controversially moved name. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 06:01, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
    • After the recent close at Talk:Apollo command and service module, I saw no reason to suspect that doing the corresponding move at Apollo lunar module could be controversial. Randy, you're nuts here. Give it up. Dicklyon (talk) 06:08, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
      • The n-grams show Apollo Lunar Module upper-casing in the clear majority. If you want to turn those n-grams on their head somehow, then it should be done in an RM and not in a controversial move (within the body of the Command Module discussion Amakuru and I discussed the coming Apollo Lunar Module - a separate thing and a separate spaceship - as the place to discuss some of the information). Randy Kryn (talk) 06:23, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
  • @Randy Kryn and Dicklyon: Please discuss this matter only at Talk:Apollo lunar module#Requested move 12 December 2018. Thanks. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:33, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
  • The RM was only open for two hours so I've procedurally closed it. Presumably it will be reopened in the other direction. Requests to reverse undiscussed moves should be automatic even if challenged, unless the request is inaccurate or the bold move was so obvious that it would be disruptive to reverse it. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 07:29, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

I rather summarily reverted your recent edit to the Biggles article (contrasting Johns' and Tolkien's approach to chronological and thematic consistency) on the grounds of OR. On reflection, this was rather silly of me - the article is, of course riddled with uncitable statements, and in fact would be very dull and boring otherwise! I have made amends (I hope) with a version of your basic idea - with a (cited) reference to one of Tolkien's own letters. I omit your valuable (and, as I said in my original comment) probably true enough explanation of this in the much more chaotic world of magazine fiction for adolescents in which Johns was working, although I would not object to your reinstating this yourself (preferably with some kind of citation this time!) Best regards. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 23:50, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Datalogic S.p.A.

Good morning, this Monday I wrote to contest the nomination to the speedy deletion from English Wikipedia of the "Datalogic S.p.A." page, translation of the Italian page. I tried to rewrite the whole content eliminating the promotional tones, and including the major possible number of external sources and datas for each adfirmation which could still sound "biased" (the Italian version still brings the label "Article with a promotional tone" due to the lack of negative data, as it has been explained to me, and I'll work on it in the next steps). Another Wikipedia admin answered me that, despite agreeding with my contestation, he rightly noticed that I shot myself in the foot by making so much of it in bold type, clearly contravening WP:MOS, and suggesting me to contact you and request that the article be recreated as a user draft so that I could clean it up. May I ask you if it could be possible to recreate it, or elseware if there's a preferrable way of uploading the new "unbold" version of it and submit it for revision to the admin team to overcome correctly the speedy deletion? Thank you in advance, and have a pleasant Thursday! --Riccardo Bigazzi (talk) 15:38, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Help Move

Good morning,

User:Anthony Appleyard can you kindly help move this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jwslubbock/Joseph_Kalimbwe as created by user:Jwslubbock into main space. It had been created but was moved into John's space for needed improvement. Since then, with the help of the editor experienced in Namibian content user:pgallet, it has been significantly improved and has its neutrality tone improved as the subject has been subjects to arrests and prosecutions. User page deletion.

Hello.

You recently deleted my own user page for me at my own request. The reason for my doing so was to do away with the edit history for privacy concerns. My question to you is if I choose to re-create my user page to look exactly as it was before the deletion, will the edit history re-appear? I would think not, but I want to make sure there is no "glitch" in the system or any triggers in the system that would signal a flag for a page which has been deleted to suddenly appear again without being "officially" restored through the "proper" WP:REFUND channels (which I most definitely would NEVER want to do). Any insight would be helpful. You seem like a very busy person, so I appreciate your time. Thanks. Huggums537 (talk) 23:50, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Huggums537, once a page is deleted, it is deleted. The only way a non-admin could see the deleted edits is if an admin fully restored the page. If the page has been deleted and you begin a new user page, it will be like starting from scratch. Admins, however, since they have the tools to restore pages, can view deleted edits at any time unless they have been suppressed by an oversighter. These suppressions are only done if private information was revealed (like in an outing) or there is disturbing material in the edit that is best erased. Liz Read! Talk! 00:36, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

I apologize again for talking to you about this issue but it seems that the page on No/Hugs was deleted again for the same reasons even though I included press links to support from national press in the U.S , international press from England, Greece, Cyprus and Malta. Question about history merge

According to this history for Draft:Naman Ambavi, I was wondering why the Aug 22, 2013 A7 is not included? Also, see the FYI I just posted. After you've had a chance to see the history and SPI case, do you think it is a candidate for CSD or does the restore require a different approach? Atsme✍🏻📧 07:29, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

  • @Atsme: Your link "this history" points merely to Naman Ambavi, which has 3 deleted edits dated 22 August 2013, but none of their edit comments mention "A7" or notability / non-notability. All the edits (deleted and non-deleted) in Draft:Naman Ambavi were made in 2018. Please, which edits of what do you to move to where or delete or undelete? Happy Christmas!
Hello Anthony Appleyard,
Early in A Child's Christmas in Wales the young Dylan and his friend Jim Prothero witness smoke pouring from Jim's home. After the conflagration has been extinguished Dylan writes that

Nobody could have had a noisier Christmas Eve. And when the firemen turned off the hose and were standing in the wet, smoky room, Jim's Aunt, Miss. Prothero, came downstairs and peered in at them. Jim and I waited, very quietly, to hear what she would say to them. She said the right thing, always. She looked at the three tall firemen in their shining helmets, standing among the smoke and cinders and dissolving snowballs, and she said, "Would you like anything to read?"

My thanks to you for your efforts to keep the 'pedia readable in case the firemen chose one of our articles :-) Best wishes to you and yours and happy editing in 2019. MarnetteD|Talk 07:50, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

Can you sort this out?

  • Back in April, someone started with an article which is now located at Draft:Mitho.
  • In May, it seems that the page was moved using copy & paste to Victor Magtanggol, but with additions to the article made at the same point. I suspect that the history should be merged.
  • After the copy & paste move, Draft:Mitho has some blanking/redirecting/moving history which should not be included in the page merge. Also, someone created new content under Draft:Mitho today which should not be included in the merged content.
  • Something should also be done with the Mitho redirect. I presume it should redirect to Victor Magtanggol rather than the draft namespace, unless the title "Mitho" is too unimportant to deserve a redirect.
