An issue that needs your intervention
Dear Sir,
- An editor is constantly trying to remove important and vital information from Indian Engineering Services which is well sourced and unbiased. This article also serves as the redirect page for Engineering Services Examination hence, it is bound to contain info about the examination. This editor is putting irrelevant tags on articles, nominating notable articles for deletion and does not respond on his talk page, but reverts constructive edits by others and calls them vandalizers. I saw your recent edit to the page and since you are an administrator, I thought of bringing the matter into your knowledge. Also, you may want to have a look at the Civil Services Examination and Indian Administrative Service. They are written on the same lines. Both ESE and CSE are conducted by UPSC and IAS is a general public administrative service and IES are technical administrative services. If you do not deal with matters related to content disputes, would you kindly refer this to another specialist administrator? I promise not to make any edits to this page until the issue is resolved, but the page has a daily traffic of 1000+ and most readers only visit articles once, so it would be great loss for them who came in for the information about the exam. Thanks in advance.
- Warm Regards,

Non-free rationale for File:Sinistar 2.png
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Sinistar 2.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Repairing links to disambiguation pages
Hi. This edit didn't repair a link to a disambig page: it removed it altogether. I've repaired the repair. Dricherby (talk) 09:09, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
- Likewise, [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8]. Please fix these. Dricherby (talk) 09:18, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
- As I recall, all of these were producer and directors, meaning radio producer, television producer, film producer etc. I don't think it's helpful to remove those links entirely, since a reader who's interested in a person who turns out to be a film producer may want to follow the link to see what that entails. It's not just a case of wikilinking common words. Dricherby (talk) 11:19, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Qexigator (who came to the article 'House of FitzJames' via Eugénie de Montijo and a line of previous articles: St Michael's Abbey, Farnborough; Napoléon, Prince Imperial; Line of succession to the French throne; Monarchy of the United Kingdom) sees nothing in the edit history to explain the omission in the template of Kingdom of Scotland, which is represented in the second quarter of the armorial.Qexigator (talk) 16:48, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

AWB
Hi. Can you use AWB to go through all of the Turkish village I created and remove the endings from the infobox and lead.
OK, aside from the ending removal from the lead and infobox on the titles what I need is this relative to each province. Please click the diff between previous version and current version in the history to see exactly what I need done, e.g this for Adana Province settlements. There is a different source url link for each province. You'll also see that some of the earlier provinces also need the ending removed from the infobox titles but the lead has already been fixed. Anyway if you could apply it to each province using the examples given. If you click the references you'll see that they link to the right provinces in the source. The idea is that at a later date I can add the population data in front of the word "people" to those already started. So what I want is for you to apply that to the articles in the lists by province. There will be a few though which have already been expanded and have information, just replace the yerel ref articles (which should form the vast majority).
- Adana example: Boztahta
- Adıyaman example:Akdere, Adıyaman
- Afyonkarahisar example:Aşağıçaybelen, Bayat
- Aksaray example:Acıpınar, Aksaray
- Amasya example:Abacı, Göynücek
- Ankara example:Ahmetadil, Akyurt
- Antalya example:Akseki, Antalya
- Ardahan example:Açıkyazı, Ardahan

Disambiguation page for IAAA
Dear Woohookitty, Some time ago I created the article International Academy of Aquatic Art (IAAA). Since there is also an article about the International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA) on Wikipedia, we need a disambiguation page for the term IAAA, because both organizations use it and at the moment this link leads to the International Association of Astronomical Artists only. Since I don't know exactly how to create a disambiguation page, I write you. You edited the article International Association of Astronomical Artists. Could you please help? Britain is not always UK
You seem to be automatically replacing all links to [[Britain]] with [[United Kingdom|Britain]]. While this may be correct in some contexts, it isn't in others, particularly prehistory, long before there was a "United Kingdom" (e.g. Walking with Cavemen). Please look at the contexts before making such changes. Barsoomian (talk) 08:25, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Hyderabad dab
Hi again,
Continuing our now-archived discussion:
- I posed a question at Talk:History of Hyderabad, India on the dab link you edited here, and am dying to ask how you found out that the city is in fact the correct link :-) Sparafucil (talk) 10:02, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
to which you replied:
- Most of it is a mixture of educated guesses and context. I assumed that Nicholaas would be in the bigger Hyderabad for a HQ. --User:Woohookitty Disamming fool! 10:26, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
I reverted, adding a comment on the article page, and [this happened]. I see two solutions: adding a ref. needed tag, or unlinking the main text and [adding a footnote thus].
If the footnoted dab link gets changed again, perhaps I'll move Hyderabad to Hyderabad (disambiguation) and see if that fools WPCleaner v1.15. While I appreciate that there is a large backlog of dab links needing to be redirected, let me join the chorus and point out that it just makes more work for other editors when the repairs are not carried out with a little thoughtfulness. Sparafucil (talk) 23:08, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- WikiCleaner is not a bot. So "fooling" it doesn't really make sense as I make all of the edits. All WikiCleaner does is highlight the terms that need to be disammed. Everything else is my work. I make about 200-300 edits every day. If I am making a mistake or two...or even 10 (which is rare), that's a pretty good percentage. :) So. I do my best but mistakes will occasionally be made. It's the nature of the beast. Even if I cut way down and did 50 a day, mistakes would still occasionally be made. You mentioned the work I create for other editors. I don't mean to sound full of myself here, but I save much more than I create. And finally, I put lots of thought into the edits. That doesn't mean that I'm not going to make mistakes. So I apologize for the mistakes but I'm starting to wonder if I'd be better off moving on to something else because people continually don't understand the tool I use despite repeated explanations and also don't seem to accept that mistakes will be made. --User:Woohookitty Disamming fool! 01:00, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Karaite
You have disambiguated "Karaite" to Karaite (Jewish sect). Please note that that is a redirect to Karaite Judaism, which is what I hope you will use in the future. Debresser (talk) 17:47, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yes but when I made the edit, the disam page pointed to Karaite (Jewish sect). That's why I went with that. It was changed after I made the edit. --User:Woohookitty Disamming fool! 16:52, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
- I see. :) Debresser (talk) 00:49, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
- By the way, which would you say is more correct? Debresser (talk) 00:51, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'd go with Karaite Judaism. I'm not a big fan of parenthesis in titles unless it's really necessary. --User:Woohookitty Disamming fool! 04:46, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
- I concur. And calling them a "sect" is not complimentary. Debresser (talk) 11:50, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Disambigation colour
Hi, I don't believe I have raised this issue with you before. (Correct me if I'm wrong; I can blame my brain haemorrhage.)
At least one other language (Russian) displays links to a disam page in a special colour, so 1) you always know when you have inadvertently created one, and 2) it is easy to spot a problem on any page you happen to be reading.
Is that a good idea for us to replicate here?

I have been searching furiously throughout the interweb and within Federal and Provincial websites and cannot find a list outside of Military and Government post-nominals. Is there such thing as an 'accepted' or regulated list of these professional accomplishments?

Hi there. I would very much appreciate it if you could spend ~2 minutes and take a short survey - a project trying to understand why the most active Wikipedia contributors (such as yourself) may reduce their activity, or retire. I sent you an email with details, if you did not get it please send me a wikiemail, so that I can send you an email with the survey questions. I would very much appreciate your cooperation, as you are among the most active Wikipedia editors who show a pattern of reduced activity, and thus your response would be extremely valuable. List of massacres in Turkey
Hello, I am writing this to you in order to inform you that some Turkish-related articles have for quite some time been hijacked by a group of editors whose only goal, it seems, is to negatively portray the Republic of Turkey, its predesseccors and its people as warmongerming murderers. This has especially become a problem in the article of List of massacres in Turkey where they only allow information about Turks killing others, and delete all reliabely sourced information about massacres against Turks/Muslims. By doing WP:OR, discrediting sources and authors, source falsification, distortion and tag bombing.
Sources which state the number of Muslims casualties during the Greco-Turkish war is persistently being deleted.

HCPUNXKID edit-warring and 3RR violation on South Vietnam
Hi Woohookitty, could you please intervene on the South Vietnam article and page-protect the article? The user HCPUNXKID changed the status of S Vietnam in the article's infobox from "Sovereign state", the original longstanding text, to "Client state of the United States" 4 times. HCPUNXKID's edit is clearly biased and violates NPOV, and it is highly controversial and disputed even in academic circles. Sources he used includes one from the Peace Pledge Union (which lacks NPOV and credibility and even got the date for the Fall of Saigon wrong), another from a poetry site (not an acceptable reference since this isn't a poetry-related article), and one from a bookstore review of a book critical of the U.S. involvement in Vietnam... In the past, there were edit wars over the U.S. client state status, at least 2 i can recall since 2010, and it was consistently rejected. HCPUNXKID also wrote this in his recent edit summary: "If we removed client state status from here, same had to be done with all the soviet satellite states, otherwise will be a clear breach of NPOV". He's using the South Vietnam article as a pawn to achieve his personal interests on other articles under the veil and excuse of NPOV, implying that the client state status on Soviet bloc country articles be removed in return for having the client state status removed from S Vietnam, even though the client state status of Soviet bloc nations is generally accepted by the vast majority of academics and is properly sourced from neutral, nonpartisan sources (unlike his). Natchez
Hello. Can you please be more careful when using scripts to repair disambiguation links? In this edit, you redirected Natchez to Natchez, Mississippi, when even a cursory glance at the context should have indicated that it was about the language. I've removed the link entirely as it (and several others) were multiple wikilinks. But in general I'd say that it's better to leave a link to a dab page than to change it the wrong article. Thanks, Quintucket (talk) 16:24, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, then. That edit touched on two things that I've seen a lot: automated tools to make pointless edits, and people making edits without knowing about what they're editing. And yet I'm guilty of the latter (I have a compulsive need to clean up broken English on articles I know nothing about), to the point that I'm sure I'm guilty of similar a couple of times at least. Any rate, I see that you do a lot of disambiguation repairing, and mostly it does fix things, so thank you. —Quintucket (talk) 05:05, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Dear Woohookitty. I have a question concerning the page Haplogroup T-M184, which you have contributed (as I understand as an Administrator?). This is a first rate page, well researched and clearly presented. The page is also very well referenced. However some of the sources for the North European data are not given. Is there a way of finding out what the sources of these data are, namely: Gotland (2/40) = 5%; Swedes/ East Scandinavia/Orebo (1/32) = 3.1%; Scanians/South Scandinavia/Malmo (1/29) = 3.4%; Dutch, North Holland (1/18) = 5.6%; Flemish Dutch, Turnhout = 2.4%; Germans/ Berlin (4/103) = 3.9%; Rhinelanders/ Ripquarian/Koln (3/96) = 3.1%; Hutterites/Austro; Bavarian/Tyrol (4/75) = 5.3%; Alsatians/ Alsace (4/80) = 5%; Southern Tyroleans/ Lower Vinschgau (1/32) = 3.1%. I am sure the data are absolutely fine, but it would be great to find the sources, or which users posted this information. I have also posted a note to User: Liseranius who I think is responsible for the excellent Distribution map, but I am not sure if he/she is responsible for the data in the Tables. If you can help with pointing me in the right direction that would be very much appreciated, Many thanks! Sczsteve (talk) 12:40, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest
I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:20, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

The article Singapore International School, Bandung has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable school. No sources. Tagged for notability for almost six years.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Again, sorry for templating you. About your (non)participation in the January 2012 SOPA vote
Hi. I am Piotr Konieczny (User:Piotrus), you may know me as an active content creator (see my userpage), but I am also a professional researcher of Wikipedia. Recently I published a paper (downloadable here) on reasons editors participated in Wikipedia's biggest vote to date (January 2012 WP:SOPA). I am now developing a supplementary paper, which analyzes why many editors did not take part in that vote. Which is where you come in :) You are a highly active Wikipedian (8th most active!), and you were active back during the January 2012 discussion/voting for the SOPA, yet you did not chose to participate in said vote. I'd appreciate it if you could tell me why was that so? For your convenience, I prepared a short survey at meta, which should not take more than a minute of your time. I would dearly appreciate you taking this minute; not only as a Wikipedia researcher but as a fellow content creator and concerned member of the community (I believe your answers may help us eventually improve our policies and thus, the project's governance). PS. If you chose to reply here (on your userpage), please WP:ECHO me. Thank you! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 19:20, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Please review it and, if you wish, give us feedback on the submission's talkpage or my talkpage (vs. your talkpage). Ultimately, we hope you add your name to the signup at the bottom of the proposal which signifies you'd be interested in the talk if you were attending it (it does not commit you to attending Wikimania). Pointless redirect removal
Hi. I removed the recently created redirect on Saarland Protectorate, but it was reinstated by you. Please allow me to explain why I deleted the redirect so that it may be permanently deleted:
1. The redirect was only created in June and is hardly useful to Wikipedia as there were never any pages that linked to it.
2. It is my understanding that redirects are only used either after a page has been moved and existing links need to be kept unbroken, or when there is a common or alternate title for an existing page and having a redirect from that the alternate title would be productive to other articles (people may choose to use the alternate title in links instead of the actual page title). In this case, the name "Saarland Protectorate" is a pointless name as it not only combines the names of two incarnations of the region (the contemporary German Saarland state, and the historical French Saar Protectorate) which could potentially cause confusion, but it also contributes nothing to Wikipedia and is a waste of a page. The term "Saarland Protectorate" is a completely inaccurate term that has never been used anywhere in the world or at any point in history, nor will it ever be used for the foreseeable future.
Can we please discuss removing this pointless redirect? Nick Mitchell 98 (talk) 10:20, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- Go to the redirects for deletion page and follow the instructions there. The problem is that just blanking the page doesn't really remove the redirect. What it leaves is a blank page that leads to nowhere. If you want the page deleted, then go to the RfD page. Thank you :) --User:Woohookitty Disamming fool! 10:23, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for explaining the situation. I have added a deletion request on WP:RDF. Thanks again. Nick Mitchell 98 (talk) 11:49, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- No problem. :) Yeah I don't object to the removal per say. It was just a process issue :) --User:Woohookitty Disamming fool! 17:20, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Woohookitty. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:49, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Coding
Greetings! I would like to adjust the coding here to parse between the nine officially recognized local ethnic groups and other smaller groups. The format should also adhere to the three officially recognized local ethnolinguistic divisions [11]. It would ideally look something like this or perhaps this, but with extra code to sort between the official and smaller groups, while maintaining the ethnolinguistic divisions. I'm not sure what would be the appropriate markup, though. Could you please help fix this? Kind Regards-- Soupforone (talk) 02:36, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Woohookitty.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However,due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:48, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

This is a relatively new article, that has been tagged as 'New unreviewed article' by the article's creator. I undertook some link-rot cleansing on the article, and the creator (User:VonEdit (User talk:VonEdit)) asked me if I would review the article, "so it can pass the new page patrol filter, as I do not know who else to ask". This is something I do not undertake, and as I did not know who else to ask, I picked you, you lucky devil. If you can not undertake the function, please let me know and I will enquire elsewhere. Frankly, I am not certain what sort of time delay usually occurs before such requests are routinely dealt with. Anyway, over to you, or back to me, as you see fit. Many thanks,

Slavery by Another Name
Help me. (I have come to you several times in the past ten years when someone is being stupid.) Slavery by Another Name is a book about the reenslavement of African Americans during and after Reconstruction through the penal system. Principally they were 'employed' in industrial operations in Birmingham, Alabama. I put this up on the page for that city. Two people have reverted the sentence I posted summarizing the book. I didn't read the profile of one of them; the other is a conservative Christian southerner who is surely embarrassed to read this history. What precedes the sentence I posted is unsourced drivel about 'economic opportunity', which is certainly partisan in its defense of the South.
Help me.

The survey should only take 5 minutes, and your individual response will not be made public. This survey will be integral for our team to determine how to better support administrators.
To take the survey sign up here and we will send you a link to the form.

Personal attacks on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Panzer_ace
Hello,
I am sorry if you are not quite the right person to write to, but I'm rather new to Wikipedia. I just noticed that there seems to be a lot of personal attacks coming from user Drmies aimed at user Makumbe, calling him things like nazi and nazi sympathizer. I stumbled upon the discussion page out of interest to this particular World War II subject, and this just seems wrong: I'm not that familiar with rules and policies of Wikipedia, but certainly this isn't right? What's more is that he seems to belittle the whole issue on his own discussion page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Drmies/Archive_112 Again, I am sorry if you are not the right person to write to, but for a newbie like me this certainly seems rude. How should (The) Sugar Shack page be amended to add the recent hit song? Surely a redirect to album art is inappropriate considering it’s the second hit song of a similar title? Lep Andrews (talk) 13:34, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
This template was deleted and I wanted to make something similar. The focus of Wikipedia: WikiProject Portals has changed. Now we want to make Portals with as few subpages as possible. The best approach is without any subpages. I think this template would be a great advantage for building Portals without subpages. Are you able to reactivate this template? I thought it would be great for Did you know sections in Portals and other sections which need a dynamic text.--Broter (talk) 15:10, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

Redesigning Wikipedia's Spam Defenses
Hello,
I’m King, a current Junior at Stanford University. You’ve spent many years on Wikipedia and you also mentioned that you have created bots to do mundane work. I am curious what you think about the current system of flagging articles and issues and how it could be optimized. Maybe Machine Learning tools could be implemented? I can also be reached at iamking-at-stanford-dt-edu. (Formatted weirdly to protect myself from bots) Would love to hear from you either on Wikipedia talk or via email. Thank you for your time!
P.S. I grew up using Wikipedia and would love to have the opportunity to contribute back to this community-powered knowledge base. Speaking with you would be greatly advantageous. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kingalandydy (talk • contribs) 04:57, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

The article Ahmad Odeh has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The only source available for this footballer doesn't indicate that he has actually played in a fully-pro league, and there are insufficient sources available to satisfy WP:GNG.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jogurney (talk) 15:52, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

ArbCom 2019 special circular
Administrators must secure their accounts
The Arbitration Committee may require a new RfA if your account is compromised.

This message was sent to all administrators following a recent motion. Thank you for your attention. For the Arbitration Committee, Cameron11598 02:24, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Hey. At some point in the ancient past you were either involved in the creation of the above template, or the successful AfD for the party's article's deletion. I've just put the template up on TfD so am letting editors involved at some point, even fleetingly in most cases, just in case you want to chip in the discussion. Cheers. doktorb wordsdeeds 14:45, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

The article Guillermo de Cun has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Not notable; see WP:NOTMEMORIAL
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bearian (talk) 20:26, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

I noticed you deleted the article I created on Frank Morton (plant breeder) under CSD A7 "No credible indication of importance", even though you failed to notify me. It was stated in the lede that Morton founded a company, was a founding member of the Open Source Seed Initiative, and bred over 99 kinds of lettuce, one of which was the first type of plant grown and eaten in space. All of this was backed up by multiple reliable sources in the body, making the claims credible. If you don't think that's enough, then you could have started a deletion discussion, but it was not appropriate to summarily delete this article under A7. How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

The article Zaks has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline nor the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you. PS. To the closer: if you agree with deletion, please consider just softdeleting this by redirecting to Ohio Art Company, while preserving history
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:01, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
