A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Social Scribe, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. October 2022[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Bbb23 (talk) 18:58, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Bbb23,
First of all, my sincere apologies for this inconvenience.
Secondly, let me assure you that my only intention is to contribute wholeheartedly to the encyclopedia and not do promotions of any sort. I truly apologize for my blunder and promise you that I won't be repeating the same under any circumstance.
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Im not receiving any sort of compensation for editing and/or creating articles. As mentioned above, I completely understand my mishaps and assure you that I won't be repeating them. Lastly, my sole wish to become a credible editor but more than that, contribute to the pool of knowledge creation in my short span of cosmic time. Social Scribe (talk) 09:44, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

The edit summary here tells me that you are too close to this topic to be able to contribute about it at this time(you can't request that other editors not edit). I'm going to assume good faith that you aren't being paid for this even though your current username is that of a marketing company. Maybe another reviewing admin will disagree with me, but I think it would be a waste of time for everyone to allow you to even propose edits related to this or any COI at this time. You'll need to tell us what edits you want to make instead if you want to be unblocked. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 10:00, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

. Hey 331dot, yes I am too close but if you're feeling this is a waste of time, then please by all means don't waste any. As i replied to one of the admins that the owner of the team, Deccan gladiators is a relative of mine, my brother in law. And it's a strict taboo asking for money in family. I am a writer and a big time cricket fanatic (one of my favourite players will be playing this year, and this is what prompted mem to give in my good hours and complete this. That is why he has asked my help with this, so I'm asking yours. I understand the policy infringement from my end, and assure you that it wont be repeated in the future. Lastly, the kind of edits Im looking here are just the basics, covering the history of the franchise, the season performance, fan supports, the championship last year, a bit about admins and support staff, references. that's all. My sole wish is to help my brother in law set this up, get some brownie points in my family, and hopefully, document many more cricket team pages in the future (If i get the hang of it).

Hello Social Scribe. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Social Scribe. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Social Scribe|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Jalen Folf (talk) 18:59, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Jalen Folk
I understand that I am blocked from editing. And I also understand that I edited my page with information that does not comply with Wikipedia policies. I apologize for that.
I request you to help me getting unblocked so that I can contribute to the Encyclopedia and do as much good as I can in the short span of cosmic time we have here.
Moving on to the financial aid part, I'm not going to receive any financial assistance. The owner of Deccan Gladiators is my relative and has asked my help with writing the Wikipedia artiicle for his team, as he knows that I'm a writer by profession and a big cricket fan.
We're all Indians it's a serious taboo, asking money from in-laws. I'm just helping him here, and for that I need a bit of your help.
If needed, I will not edit and only suggest changes to the article. And as far as the article that was deleted, I thank the editors for that as I'm relatively new here and was not completely sure about the policies. Social Scribe (talk) 09:30, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
