Your bot
[edit]User:VoABot II, which I believe is your bot, is malfunctioning. It blanked a page and said it was reverting vandalism. The bot actually reverted anothers person edit which was just an edit that was reverting vandalism. So basically, your bot just vandalized a page. Runewiki777 21:51, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
List of Trojans
[edit]I deleted the trojans on the list that didn't have there own articles and are therefor useless, but the bot saw it as vandalism, please restore my edit. Warrush 21:07, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Question
[edit]I have a question for you, as you seem to have the only operating bot of this type. I was thinking about starting an anti vandal bot, with features like this: The bot would recognize edits made by vandals on certain articles, and if they have vandalized that article before, it would revert their edit. Thats just an idea, but the problem is I know little about writing bot codes, and I was wondering if you could help. Thanks. Thekittybomb 16:39, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Regarding your edits to Say It Right:
[edit]Your recent edit to Say It Right (diff) was reverted by an automated bot. The edit was identified as adding either test edits (like "TEST" or example.jpg), vandalism, or link spam to the page or having an inappropriate edit summary. If you want to experiment, please use the preview button while editing or consider using the sandbox. If this revert was in error, please contact the bot operator. If you made an edit that removed a large amount of content, try doing smaller edits instead. Thanks! // VoABot II 06:04, 27 April 2007 (UTC) It's not vandalism. i made similiar edits, because there was similiar mistakes!!!!!!! there's no official singles chart in Russia!
The Prisoner edit
[edit]Having created a Wikipedia article for the Shattered Visage comic book, containing a summary, I removed that same summary from the The Prisoner article. This change was reverted as vandalism. Can anything be done? user name ireact

Category deletion
[edit]Hi, you appear to have deleted Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in the East Riding of Yorkshire for some reason. Is there a reason for this?
It is a category for people to request photos to be created for articles. It is normally empty and only has entries when a photo has been requested for an article by placing the tag on the article's talk page. This is in line with all of the other category entries for counties of England. Ok I know technically the East Riding of Yorkshire is not a county, but there are similar categories for West Yorkshire Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in North Yorkshire and South Yorkshire Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in South Yorkshire.

Your Bot un-did a typo correction.
[edit]I wasn't logged in when correcting a typo on the page Toshio_Mori. My IP address is neither dynamic, nor was the edit wrong. Which tells me your bot is probably fouling up a great deal of correct edits.

Assessment category deletion
[edit]I notice that you deleted Category:Unassessed Intelligent design articles, Category:Non-article Intelligent design pages and Category:GA-Class Intelligent design articles. As working categories for article assessment, the fact that they are empty at some point in time doesn't mean that they aren't "in use", just that they are empty at this point in time. Guettarda 18:02, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I am aware of that. I deleted a list of 3700 pages based of a list of pages that were supposed to be unused or overcategorized. A few of them should not have been listed. Sorry for the inconvenience. Voice-of-All 18:19, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. It's no problem. I was really trying to figure out whether you were saying that cats like these should be deleted when empty. 3700 deletions, huh? Wow. I don't envy you that task. Guettarda 20:34, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Please be more careful next time. The number of cats you deleted which have effected me personally and where I've had to restore is now well into double figures. My experience is likely to be the tip of the iceberg. --kingboyk 12:36, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- As an affected party, I think you should cut him some slack. Restoring a dozen or two categories is annoying, but deleting 3700 (by hand! unless someone is running an unauthorised admin bot) deserves an award. Guettarda 14:15, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Emptied stub categories
[edit]I notice you deleted a couple of stub categories on your recent empty-cat purge. Bear in mind these are template-populated, and in such cases it's worthwhile checking if they were depopulated via vandalism (or clueless edits) to the associated templates. This was indeed the case in both these instances. (Category:South American sports venue stubs and Category:United States science fiction writer stubs) Alai 05:13, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
hi. wonder if you would consider re-sprotecting the above page? it was initially protected because of anon libel about paedophilia. a registered user (DavidCharlesII (talk · contribs)) who is still intermittently active on the page has even made insinuations about such [1]. so there is some reason to think it may reccur. if you think it should be left to see whether still a problem, no need to reply, i will assume that is your reasoning. thnx, ben ⇒ bsnowball 10:22, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

VoABot and rejected Usurpation archiving
[edit]Could you take a look at this diff and figure out whether something went wrong? There may have been a previous time when this happened as well. Thanks --Philosophus T 20:41, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- I suspect the problem was that the second request used the wrong template and had the wrong level heading. On a related point, I notice that when the Bot archives rejected requests (as here [2]) it does not then add them to Wikipedia:Changing_username/Usurpations/Rejected/1. Is that an error or are rejected requests no longer supposed to be archived? WjBscribe 05:21, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- Occassionally, things would not archive as they should. I fixed that bug very recently. Voice-of-All 18:38, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Bot approvals process
[edit]Just in case any of you haven't seen the new bot request to track the bot approvals process, this is just a reminder to use the correct templates at BAG Admin Tools so the bot can correctly identify the stage of bot approval. Also, the approved requests section has been moved to a separate page at Wikipedia:Bots/Approved bot requests for the Bureaucrats to watchlist. When approving a request, make sure you remove it from the main page and place it on that page so that a bureaucrat can flag it. Thanks. MetsBot 16:47, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Regular Expression Assistance
[edit]Hi, VoA! I wonder if you could take a moment to help me with a regular expression that will undoubtedly be easy for you, though stumps me.
I'm programming User:SatyrBot in PHP. I have a function that reads a page and interprets the templates on the page, including the parameters sent to each template. So to find them, I have the regexp:
- "@([^\{]*)(\{\{[^\}]*\}\})@"
However, I've run in to a situation where templates are within templates, like WikiProjectBanners, where the wiki content looks like:

What I'd like to do is expand the regexp to match both the outer template and the inner templates. I'm pretty sure that's possible, but my regexp knowledge doesn't extend that far :) Any help you could give would be appreciated! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 22:44, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think that is possible to do using regexps because the only thing that lets you know which "" is the position relative pairing relationship. Instead, try using this function someone made to get all string position info for each string match in an array (with the count # as the keys) with the start/end position. Do this on "". Iterate through each Xth (from rightmost matches -> leftmost ones) match and find the Xth that is past the position of the {{. For each, use the start index for the and extract a substr( start, end + 2 - start ). That should give things like "" as well as "yes". Hope that helps. Voice-of-All 16:32, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
- Ahh - now *that* looks promising! Thanks for the link - both the strpos and the following pre_pos look good - I'll play with those a bit and see if I can get it to work. Thanks much!!! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 17:32, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I recently received a message saying that my edits to the National Lampoon's Dorm Daze 2 page had been reverted due to inclusion of a MySpace link. Dear Voice of All,
I'm feeling more than a little perturbed. Why did you feel you have the right to delete Category:Ethnic groups articles needing merge action???? How many other Ethnic groups cats did you take it upon yourself to delete? Where did you announce this deletion?
--Ling.Nut 18:32, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- I just read posts above. This is not heroic. No slack cut. It is not OK. It violates WP:Consensus for starters... I can think of at least one other essay it violates, but that one is considered bad form to invoke--Ling.Nut 18:38, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Betacommand made a large list of empty categories that could be deleted and needed help executing the deletions, so I did so. I asked the user if everything there was OK to delete on IRC. Since it's now apparent that too much of it actually was not deletable, I'll just avoid huge deletion lists in the future. Voice-of-All 19:08, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Regarding "You have new messages" bug
[edit]Hi, I was directed here by User:Prodego and was wondering if you know what is causing the You have new messages notification to malfunction. For me, I have seen several instances where the offending vandals' talk page had warnings posted but the orange notification bar does not pop up. [edit]I think I am following the protocol, and I added this to requests for protection
Ann Althouse (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
- I apologize, for this is almost certainly a duplicated request, but I cannot find its resolution ANYWHERE. I don't understand why this page was protected. The edit that added the protection says it was from vandalism from anonymous users, but if you check the history you will see that a) there really has been very little vandalism in general, and b) very little of that was from anonymous users, and c) anonymous users (me!) have made good contributions. Can this page be unprotected?
And the voabot came by and deleted it, and the page wasn't unprotected, and I can't see the resolution anywhere. So, can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thank you.

[edit]Last night, for the first time, I edited an article. All I did was clarify some information in the article and add otherinformation. It was an article onLevels of Processing theory.
The edits were reverted twice as vandalism.
I am a cognitive psychology professor with some knowledge on the subject and the changes I made were accurate and factual and were not intended to be vandalism. In fact, I left some incorrect information that was in the original article as was and just placed a comment saying it was incorrect.
I am assuming that the manner in which I made the edit was tagged by your BOT as being vandalism. Could you please let me know what I need to do to make edits that will not be tagged as vandalism? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sifonis (talk • contribs) 14:52, 8 April 2007 (UTC).

- Just because someone is trying to figure out how to place an image, using a quite obvious 'exemple.jpg' for that, is no reason for his work - not mine, I underline - to be reverted by a bot 2 minutes later. A vandal/tests spoting bot is a great thing indeed, but errors should be minimized as much as possible, as it should be very frustrating to have a bot reverting your efforts. Maybe this is an unavoidable error... still I hope you look into it. Maybe giving a little more time before reverting? - Nabla 03:08, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

The history says BOT - Reverted edits by Flamingwhitedragon {vandalism} to revision #123987109 by "PAK Man"
But the version by the bot and by PAK Man are not identical.
Long Island New York, but when the bot reverted it became
[[Long Island New York

Safari & your JS tools
[edit]User:SMcCandlish/monobook.js - I installed a bunch of your stuff, and noted that the non-admin "main package" already includes the prerequisite tabs code and stuff. I'm not seeing anything. No new tabs. Any ideas? Is it jus not compatible with Safari? Do I need to include the prereq. tab script first even though your non-admin script appears to already be doing this? I don't see a UTC clock either. And no search replace feature. I have a few other scripts in monobook.js; are there known incompatibilities? I'd rather eliminate others' scripts than yours if I can get yours to work. :-) — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 06:24, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Mistaken revert
[edit][7] I think this revert from this bot was mistaken. Mackan 08:38, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
VOABot more broken
[edit]Hi. VOABot is actually more broken than I realised. We'd identified before that it doesn't remove all closed requests and that there were multiples in the archives. I looked at Wikipedia:Changing username/Archive23 to do some manual archiving of the ones the bot missed - to see that it's been removing requests from the page but not adding them to the archive.
At 9:01 today it removed 4 completed requests from Wikipedia:Changing username diff but didn't put them anywhere. The archive hasn't been touched since my last manual archiving on the 6 April. history
At 10.01 today it added 4 rejected requests to Wikipedia:Changing username/Unfulfilled/2007/April but didn't remove them from Wikipedia:Changing username diff.
Because of this I think your bot is making things worse. I'd block it except that I'm concerned about the page protection work it does. Could you either fix it or stop it working on usernames? Secretlondon 12:43, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- Not to lay any more work on you, VoA, but the bot doesn't seem to be functioning well on WP:RFPP. See here (the current revision as I type this) where there are requests from the 14th still on the page. It archives protection requests alright, but the significant edits section is often ignored. That section doesn't get much traffic and it's easy to simply remove them manually every few days (which is why I haven't mentioned it before), but since Secret has brought up some WP:CHU issues I thought it'd be good to tell you about this. – Steel 12:54, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

VoABot II reverts more than necessary
[edit]VoABot II did a really strange revert yesterday. First part is correct but the second part does not correspond to a change in the previous edit. In other words, VoABot II changed (back) the article more than the vandal did (here is the extra change). — Xavier, 00:26, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- It made the same error (deleting the closing brackets before an extra letter in a wikilink when claiming to revert) today: [8] PrimeHunter 11:32, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- Looking at its recent contributions, here is a variant: [9]. It deleted the closing bracket in an external link. The Bot appears broken. PrimeHunter 11:40, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Bot malfunction
[edit]Twice today, your bot has duplicated the page at WP:CHU/U. It's edit summary is "archive 0 requests" and it copies the entire page contents and places it at the bottom of the current page (see diff}. --Nick—Contact/Contribs 17:07, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- Gah, someone changed the layout, I'll have to change the bot. Voice-of-All 17:59, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
The layout change seems to have been done by a single editor without any discussion whatsover- and failing to realise the consequences for the Bot (grrr). I've raised the question at WT:CHU/U [11] as to whether the new layout is an improvement. Sorry for the hastle. WjBscribe 23:01, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
The Bot archived a number of requests: [12] saying it was archiving "0 requests". Not all were marked done and some were clearly still being considered by Secretlondon. Could you take a look? Is Bot archival of username requests now becoming too much a headache for you? We could do it manually... 16:48, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Bot re-adding prod tag
[edit]I was under the impression that the prod tag could be removed by anyone, including the article's creator (see WP:PROD#Contesting_a_proposed_deletion), but it appears that your bot is repeatedly re-adding the tag to Star Wars Episode 7 (which I agree should probably be deleted, but I believe the appropriate procedure would be to send it to AfD at this point). Thoughts? JavaTenor 17:42, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Bot coverage request
[edit]As you'll recall, VoABot II is already covering a number of Gibraltar-related articles to auto-revert any additions by the banned User:Gibraltarian (who now edits anonymously as 212.120.*.*). Could you possibly add Juan Carlos I of Spain to the watchlist? -- ChrisO 07:50, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hrm...the bot still has Overhead issues that make it unreliable, I'll have to work on that sometime. Voice-of-All 15:49, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, didn't know that. Even so, it does seem to be working, albeit it doesn't pick up every edit - see [13] for an example. -- ChrisO 20:48, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello
[edit]Unspecified source for Image:Vaderrots.jpeg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Vaderrots.jpeg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self-no-disclaimers tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:26, 3 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yeah, I feel weird using the generic template on you, but I woul dlike to see a source added, this way it isn't deleted.Wizardman 13:26, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

We've already confirmed the above as sockpuppets of Dereks1x, some by RFCU, others via Dereks1x's habit of coming back to complain about admin abuse after his latest sock has been identified. Please unblock Twinik. Do not punish the wrong person. Please unblock Twinik. Do not punish the wrong person.
Your checkuser/IP check section results showed that other users are socks, but not me. The background of this case is when administrator Jersyko accused 2 people (Nuclearj and Hempbilly) of being socks but their checkuser showed that they were not socks.
Soon afterwards, I had the misfortune of making a talk edit and Jerseyko accused me of being a sock despite my very neutral talk edit (but not solidly pro-politician 14 ) . Learning from his "mistake", Jersyko blocked me because he wanted to muzzle me and didn't want to take the chance of a checkuser proving that he was wrong.
I usually let bygones be bygones. All I want to do is to edit good quality stuff. I don't agree with Jersyko's use of blocking to muzzle anything that's not an advertisement for the politician, but I only plan to write quality stuff after being unblocked.Twinnext 03:25, 10 May 2007 (UTC) This edit is permitted because you proved that I am not that other banned user. Knowing that Voy7 is those IP's and knowing that Iclaudius2 and MasterChemical are as well, should not I report those IP addresses to get them blocked? or this just isn't enough vandalism for the board to sanction? Or, maybe seek to block those sock puppets?
- One more thing, If I just add tags to all the suspected sock puppets, did you think I can do that and just leave it at that? The fate of this insidious user hangs in your balance. Thanks again for any advise and counsel. Best. Jrod2 17:44, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Atabek
[edit]Hello, that IP address that you said should be dealt with as a vandal (see here: [15]), is not a vandal. Not only has the IP discussed his.her changes on the talk page, but he/she has used reliable scholarly sources. Wikipedia's policies say that this is not vandalism. Atabek gave a faulty description in order to manipulate your decision (he has done so in the past also, filing false reports against users, particularly me). Now he will use your comment to revert the Anon without breaking his Arbcom parole. The anon has not removed information from the article at all, but simply added to it from a reliable and scholarly source, which is already used in the article: [16] He did not remove any information and certainly did not insert any POV, at all, look closely at the diff's Atabek provided. He tried to manipulate your decision, and it worked in his favor.
Atabek has used such tactics in the past in order to get users blocked or to conduct character assasination.
As soon as I reported Dacy69, a friend of Atabek's, Grandmaster came to his defense, and Atabek, peculiar huh? (see here: [17]) And notice how Atabek put my name with the anon on the user check, thats fishing, there was never a connection between the anon and I. He is trying to get back at me for reporting his friend. And as I suspected, he is using your comments to defend his friend: [18]
The only reason why I'm even wasting my time defending this anon is because Grandmaster, Atabek, and Dacy69 are trying to prevent Dacy69 from getting blocked for violating his parole, and I have seen these users trade reverts and work in tandem before, especially against me (filing false reports like the one Atabek made against the anon and I, alternating reverts, etc...). I hope this can be remedied quickly.Azerbaijani 16:04, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Atabek should elaborate which part of my edits he considers vandalism or POV. All I did was putting 5 words from a well known and respected scholarly reference to the article (I quoted Professor Ehsan Yarshater of Columbia University using one of his articles in Encyclopaedia Iranica). Please check the Safavids article. --82.83.158.90 16:46, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi :) Could you double check what you did the last few days? I saw a bunch of bugs that were not present before:
- when archiving a case that has been run more than once, the script adds rfua and rfub to the page, when it was used to only move the rfua template at the beginning of the page. (Or was I on drugs previously?)
- The (add) tab no longer shows up when you are at the last stage of the archival (the Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case edition).

I had asked a question about the accounts after the IP's were blocked, but the CheckUser request was archived. Incorrect bot operation?
[edit]I noticed in this bot edit that the request was moved without an explicit accept or deny by an admin. In fact an admin added a note requesting someone else deal with the request and then the bot moved it meaning the request may have been missed by later admins looking at the requests. Your revert at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
[edit]I'm afraid I don't understand why your bot cleared my request for unprotection here. Your edit summary says "(BOT - Moving/clearing older requests. [PR: 1 | UR: 1 | RfSE: 0 | FR: 0])" and it wasn't an older request and because of the shorthand used I don't understand the rest. You want want to provide a translation guide to shorthand your bot uses on your bot userpage. Miss Mondegreen talk 11:50, May 25 2007 (UTC)

Question about checkuser result
[edit]Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Case/Digwuren I would like to know on what ground have you confirmed this? This confirmation is most certainly bogus. I have no connection to the four other gentelmen and this name is a proud internet identity wiht several years of histor and with several hits on google. This is plain insulting.--Alexia Death 06:09, 29 May 2007 (UTC) P.S What is the process for appealing this?--Alexia Death 06:09, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
I believe your check is flawed. I am aquainted with Erik Jesse, and I seen Löwi's edits in Wikipedia for quite some time. There is no way that they are sock puppets. Note that the volume of edits from these people make it physically impossible that they are one and the same. I believe an analysis of the edit timestamps will prove this. I know that Erik Jesse is a student at Tartu University, the largest in Estonia, so if they share IP addresses, it would be due to the University internet proxy. Martintg 07:29, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- How is it possible that 3 Löwi is a sock puppet of Alexia Death, when 3 Löwi has been editing Wikipedia since July 2005, and Alexia Death only started editing since May 2007? You did check the edit histories didn't you? Seems to be that a long time editor who has contributed much to Wikipedia has been unjustly blocked indefinitely. It is my hope you reconsider this decision. Martintg 07:53, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
On your decision on checkuser
[edit]Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Lions3639 I would like to know how you've come to this decision. It is possible that my IP may overlap with unrelated individuals because networks within ROK Ministry of Education institutions are relayed through the central department to prevent P2P sharing and other abusive uses of the public network. Cydevil38 06:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- The following RFCU shows evidence of meatpuppetry by Cydevil38: Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Etimesoy. Perhaps another Checkuser can be done to see if Cydevil38 is also related to the following:
- Etimesoy appears to be related to Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Room218 by use of similar roving IP address ranges. Room218 was confirmed to be related to Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Goguryeo.
- Cydevil38 is part of this big meatpuppetry ring, if not sockpuppetry.--Endroit 17:16, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

I don't know about VoA or Parceboy, but Komdori and Endroit have a long history of engaging in very tendentious and controversial edits on Korean topics and harassing Korean users. More recently, their target has been myself, User:Good_friend100 and Davidpx(who isn't a Korean) on topics regarding Goguryeo and Dokdo. Endroit himself made it evident here that he's repeatedly accused me of sockpuppetry for reasons none other than merely disagreeing with him, and Komdori went as far as framing me of 3RR violation with what is likely intentionally fabricated or distorted evidence here. It was no accident that Isotope deleted the material on you talk page, he reverted to a version months ago and he knew what he was doing so I happily restored it for you Voice for all, and also the IP check page isn't being vandaled, Isotope23 is trying to get a ban on IPs because he thinks it's user starwars1955, when it clearly isn't, when starwars1855 was banned, IP address were also for a limited time until the block expired, the blovk has been served on those IPs and he's trying to get that reinstated, when the suspention has already expired, starwars1955 was banned, not the IPs, the IPs Isotope23 is trying to get blocked don't beling to starwars1955 and many people will be unfairly blocked because there IPs are similar to eachothers, this is not fair, the IPs he's complaining about have done no worng, have added cited factual material and Isotope23 keeps breaking the 3RR by reverting and vandalising the pages by deleting cited material, he's also mow deleting your talk page, he keeps vandalising wikipedia and needs to be stopped, he has a personal vandetta against these IPs and this isn't fair, check the edits from these IPs, they are backed with cited info and material, Isotope23 is out of control and he knew what he was doing when he deleted your talk page by reverting to a old old version, it wasn't a accident that he once made with ANI, he's lying and he had no right to vandalise your page, I was happy you restore it for you voice for all.
- By the way, I figured out what I did; I had two windows open one with an old diff of your userpage and I edited the wrong one hence the complete FUBAR of your talkpage. Again, sorry about that.--Isotope23 03:29, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Checkuser Coldmachine / arthana
[edit]Hi, I saw you added 'likely' to the checkuser on Emnx, Arthana, and myself. I would like to know precisely how the checkuser works, because I am certainly neither of these two users and apparently have no way of proving it. How can one prove innocence if the checkuser system BLATANTLY doesnt work in this case? Arthana is from the UK - he/she wrote this on my discussion page. It's also patently clear I come from the UK from my own user page. I've no idea where Emnx comes from but I'm guessing the same. The IP range for UK users is GOING to be similar. My ISP is Orange, Arthana has written on my talk page that s/he uses BT. Are you going to block all UK users from wikipedia based on the possibility they could all be sockpuppets of one account? Ridiculous. If there's one thing I can't tolerate it's people throwing about false accusations against someone's good character. Can you look in to this? I'd like to know precisely on what basis the checkuser system works, and how decisions are made from the results. At least if I can understand how such slanderous accusations can be bandied about so easily and then 'proven' I'll have some reassurance. I would have thought a whole series of things were involved: edit history, IP address, account creation date, user page information, and so on. I can't see how on earth I can be linked to these other users based on this. The ONLY thing we have in common is that we nominated one article (the same article) for deletion. Sharing the same opinion is a huge difference from being the same user. I would have thought, anyway. ColdmachineTalk 10:26, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Here, I've actually trawled through the edits of Arthana and my own contribs, to see if there were any cases where overlap exists and there are. How, I ask, would you imagine that if we're the same person we're able to edit different pages simultaneously using two different accounts. I may be IT literate, but I don't have four arms, two computers, two phone lines, and two different ISPs. Here are the examples I found:

- Comment from Arthana
I've discussed this with Coldmachine prior to today and if you look on User talk:Coldmachine you will see I stated
I am based in the UK and my ISP is BT (along with around 3,000,000 other BT users!)Arthana
User:Coldmachine replied
I'm based in the UK too but my ISP is Orange Coldmachine
I hardly see how you can conceive it possible that Coldmachine and I are one and the same using two different ISPs to make edits at the same time.
Furthermore I would also again stress that BT (my ISP) has 3 million broadband customers. Searching Google I found numerous references to the fact the Orange Internet customers use subcontracted BT Servers — Orange has in total 2 million internet customers (I don't know if Coldmachine has broadband or not but if so, then it is 1 million customers).
Perhaps it's confusing because we are English and we are just 2 of 4 million customers using BT or BT based services and we all look alike?--217.41.217.22 12:42, 14 June 2007 (UTC) How's that happened? I was signed in? I came here to add a note about my IP address! However, this answers the question and does show that my IP address was indeed changed by my ISP at approx. 14.33 gmt -- see my note on the checkuser page. My current IP is 217.47.46.144. --Arthana 14:01, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Emnx not Arthana not Coldmachine
[edit]PLEASE READ THIS and take some time to REALLY consider the events that have transpired.
A very grave injustice has been carried out today by you and other admins. There was a rush to judgement based on the say so of two long term users.
Coldmachine is not me (Arthana). LOOK at Coldmachine's record. We have different ISPs, we were editing different articles at the same times.
You have been blinded by two clever and aggressive editors. God, if only you would take the time to investigate IPSOS, look through his talk page history and likewise his User page. Look how he briefly reverted my edits and those of Coldmachine when we particpated in the AFD for Mandrake of Oxford and disagreed with him/her. Then we were accused of being sock puppets!
On RFC for IPSOS I made a typing error! - In my haste to add a note to a speedy delete which was reverted almost immediately. I added a blank line to the page to make a comment in the edit summary. I typed "I am Coldmachine" it was a complete error - you must surely ask yourself after everything else that has been going on why would I do that. Why am I here now? because I AM NOT COLDMACHINE.
I've only ever been an occasional user in the past and had just got to the position where I could spend more time editing so I opened an acount and this is what I got. I thought joining AFDs was the best place to start learning about articles and I wanted to do something to help fight vandals.
Coldmachine is a longer term account user and exactly the sort of person Wikipedia needs.
Based on me circumventing the ban I guess you'll delete this, ban me and my dynamic IP for ever and you won't spend any time REALLY looking into what Coldmachine and I were trying to achieve.
BUT, if you do nothing else PLEASE reinstate Coldmachine with an unblemished record HE IS INNOCENT. I am beyond caring right now about the accusations that I am Emnx and I am not sure if I'd even want my account re-instated the way I feel about all this.
- (Arthana)
I just HAD to make one more post (my sincere apologies, this really is the last.) . . . GlassFET has just awarded IPSOS a barnstar because he has been harrassed. That really is a sick joke between two meatpuppets. I also note GlassFET has removed the revival company from Mandrake Press which was the aim of IPSOS from day one and that led to the creation of Mandrake of Oxford and all that followed. If you want to contact me at all I'll check Arthana talk page from time to time but if you do and you want a reply it will have to be as an anon. I genuinely am quitting Wikipedia from this point but I am prepared to stick around to help if you if you do want to investigate these matters further. (Arthana)

Dev related question
[edit]I'm just inquiring about something that's been brought up on the protection policy page. Way back in January Mets501 made a post to the en-wp about autoconfirmed levels and that we could add an edit count requirement for people to become autoconfirmed (and I've created a proposal page about it). I'm just making sure; this is possible, right? Are you the right one to ask or should I ask another dev (I would ask User:Simetrical since that's who Mets referred to in the post, but he seems to be here only sparatically). Thanks in advance Voice. -Royalguard11(Talk·Review Me!) 04:04, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, it can be easily queries via software. There is an edit_count column in the user table. Voice-of-All 22:08, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok good, thanks! -Royalguard11(Talk·Review Me!) 01:08, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
If you believe in truth!
[edit]Coldmachine is not Emnx and Coldmachine is not Arthana.
However, IPSOS is continuing with his COI and promoting Mandrake of Oxford. IPSOS moved Mandrake of Oxford material into the Mandrake Press article during the AFD to circumvent the process.
Following the delete decison an Admin also removed the Mandrake of Oxford material from Mandrake Press.
This was followed by GlassFET (accused of being a meatpuppet of IPSOS) removing the revival Mandrake Press details from the article. This was was the intent of IPSOS/GlasFET all along.
During the 2nd Mandrake of Oxford AFD IPSOS and GlassFET were accused of acting as meatpuppets and also that both having a COI. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Hermetic_Order_of_the_Golden_Dawn for where they start working together and being disruptive. They both have a declared interest in Golden Dawn and IPSOS has an interest Sexual / Magic Tantra. Mandrake of Oxford runs the Oxford Golden Society and publishes books on Sexual Magic. The very name IPSOS is connected to this subject (he created an article about his own name).
Now IPSOS is trying to overturn the 2nd AFD on the grounds that Coldmachine was a sock puppet.
see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2007_June_17
Coldmachine is not Arthana or Emnx. That is the truth! If you investigate Coldmachine properly you will see his/her innocence! and if Coldmachine is innocent then logically the AFD should not be overturned as proposed by IPSOS.
Have you once stopped to consider what Emnx, Skrine2, Arthana and Coldmachine were trying to achieve? They were not attempting to impose extremeist views or disrupt Wikipedia. In every case they were trying to protect the integrity of Wikipedia against a disruptive, edit-warring, aggressive editor (IPSOS) who was working with a meatpuppet (GlassFET) to impose views motivated by a blatant COI. Emnx/Skrine2 may have broken the wiki-rules in trying to achieve that aim but Coldmachine and Arthana were found guilty of being sock puppets (by association) based on circumstantial evidence, for merely continuing what Emnx had started - trying to protect Wikipedia.
You claim on your user page
In the face of contempt, there must remain Grace, With Freedom and the Greater Good, there is Duty, Through logic and compassion there is Reason, May justice be done only through reason and Truth, For society to have justice and order, there must be Law.
Let within your heart and mind lie the Voice of All.
If you really do uphold the principle of Wikipedia, as you claim, then you will do something about this.
If there is to be justice and order, there must be law . . .
but if those who administer it do it badly then all your fine words mean nothing.
Coldmachine is INNOCENT and should be reinstated without a blemish on his reputation.

Cheri DiNovo
[edit]The situation has been going on for eight months without resolution; every single time protection has ever been lifted from the page, the situation started up again within days. I'm afraid that, also speaking as an administrator, I am not willing to accept any unprotection of the page on the basis of "hopefully". Until it's absolutely guaranteed that the anon vandal in question is gone, the page needs to stay protected. And not hopefully gone — unequivocally, permanently, absolutely gone with no chance of the situation ever resuming. The situation really is that serious. Bearcat 00:33, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- It is not prudent to unprotect the DiNovo page. It has been the target of anon attacks continuously. As the protection tag stated, protection will be maintained until after October 10, 2007, the date of the provincial election. Please revert your unprotect action and reinstate protection.--Abebenjoe 08:39, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

An Odd Coincidence?
[edit]GlassFET has put a notice on his user page he's gone on holiday. So no posts are occurring?
So why has IPSOS stopped posting too.
Are these meatpuppets the real sockpuppets?????
Coldmachine and I are truly not the same person!
If I was a sockpuppet (of anyone) why would I ask for the AFD on Mandrake of Oxford be suspended and dealt with independently from ALL interested parties - my post, at the bottom of AFD page, is still on record. Why would I do that except to protect the integrity of Wikipedia!!!!
Please consider reinstating Coldmachine and I (perhaps on probation). We really did nothing wrong!
- Arthana
Presumably you've seen Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mandrake of Oxford (third nomination). IPSOS is involved in the voting. In previous listings etc. IPSOS and GlassFET were accused of being a meatpuppet and having a COI. If this is to be a clean decision both IPSOS and GlassFET should be disqualified from participation. Also please note that GlassFET posted a holiday notice and stopped editing . . . IPSOS also stopped a couple of days after and has just started editing again no doubt just before GlassFET comes back to add another merge/keep vote. PLEASE look at the history and tactics of these two. They work together all the time! If nothing else, given all the controversy, over Mandrake of Oxford don't allow them to vote as they were just as much of the problem as alleged sockpuppets.--86.131.32.150 00:01, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hi---I'm a physician geek who is interested in using MW to develop a wiki for continuing medical education purposes, but would like to have all edits made by users placed into a queue for moderation by a physician expert. I'm very interested in your flagged revs extension, but my IT team is concerned by its "experimental" status---how stable is it, would it be relatively usable for a non-techie, and is it going to be updated for MW 1.11? Diyako checkuser logs
[edit]- Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Zanyar (Possible sockpuppets)
- Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Diyako (Diyako is stale)
- Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/71.222.81.30 (Diyako is still stale so no check was made to compare him)
You are receiving this because your username either appears on the checkuser list or you were one of the arbitrators that participated in the relevant Arbcom case (User:Dmcdevit, User:Jdforrester, User:The Epopt, User:Charles Matthews, User:Sam Korn, User:Fred Bauder, User:Jayjg, User:Morven, User:Neutrality).
Currently User:Diyako/User:Xebat is at a stale state for not editing over a month. User hasn't edited for slightly over a year due to an arbcom sanctioned ban. I have a reason to believe ([32], [33], [34]) there may be a connection as the edit pattern seems similar in many ways. Diyako's wikipedia ban has recently expired but if he is continuing a similar behavior as User:D.Kurdistani, there needs to be a further consideration either by ARBCOM or Community Sanction board (latter seems more appropriate IMHO). A successful checkuser would be very helpful in the decision making process on this issue.
This inquiry is to request if you have "personal logs" of Diyako/Xebat's IP's to compare with User:D.Kurdistani and possible other socks. This is NOT a request for the logs themselves but on weather or not you have them. Please reply on my talk page to confirm if you have the logs or not. User:Mackensen appears to be the only person to have preformed a successful checkuser but others may also have this info.

Completely random question
[edit]I happened on your essay (User:Voice of All/Consensus), and I thought it was very well written. I think I follow a similar set of heuristics in closing discussions. I wondered, however, what your thoughts on weighting homogeneity were. Do you give stronger weight to heterogeneous or homogeneous discussions? This is an issue that has come up recently for me and I can see points on both sides. Homogeneity or a monolithic argument "seems" more like consensus by a formal definition, but multiple points (if they are valid) also seem as they should create a cumulative argument in some way (and users may not want to repeat arguments that others have made). Thoughts? IronGargoyle 07:53, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Multiple unrelated reasons for X can show majority for X (or consensus if you will), but there is no consensus why. So it is just not as strong. BTW, did you get my email? Voice-of-All 20:27, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

ConfirmAccount Consternation
[edit]I have a question concerning the ConfirmAccount extension you coded for MediaWiki 1.8+. First of all, I love the concept and think it's awesome that you take time out of your day to make an extention for us non-programmers, so thanks for your time. Secondly, I'm getting a blank page when i include the php file in the LocalSettings.php, I ran the SQL query from ConfirmAccount.sql as the other sql file would not run correctly, and as there was no prefix needed, i didn't add one to the created table. So my questions are thus: 1) What do I need to enable/disable/etc in order for the extension to function correctly. 2) Does it matter where the include statement is in LocalSettings? If there is anything else you need to know to make an informed decision feel free to contact me at [email protected]
- 1) If your wiki does use a prefix, make sure you add it to the SQL query where the prefix comment is.
- 2) Not really, though if you wanted to override some settings changes it made, those variables would have to be set after the include() statement.
- If you are getting a white screen, go to php.ini and set error_reporting to "E_ALL" or add error_reporting(E_ALL); to localsettings to see what the problem is. Voice-of-All 21:07, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

VoABot II multiple reverts to MOSH Mobile
[edit]Hi,
In the course of patrolling CAT:CSD I rescued the article MOSH Mobile, which does not qualify as a CSD:A7, although the article needs some work, but when I looked at the history I saw that VoABot II had repeately reverted Alantelman's attempt to add a source and reference (from the subject's web site, and from InformationWeek) to the article three times ([38] is the first revert). I looked over the user's edit and can't find anything wrong (or even unusual) with it. I didn't want to block the bot, but have protected the page until this is sorted out. Please feel free to unprotect it when you have figured out what's up. Thanks, --MCB 23:59, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'll look into it. The bot gets hundreds of edits a day, and some may be off. At any rate, just revert in the future yourself, because the bot doesn't revert sysop edits (or edits by any older user really). Voice-of-All 02:49, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

- Do I just copy-paste the content on User:Voice of All/RC/monobook.js onto my monobook?
- Thanks. Lord Sesshomaru 17:19, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- 1) No, 2) Yep. Voice-of-All 05:44, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- How is one capable of performing gen fixes and automatic edits without resorting to TWINKLE? I use Internet Exploror 6 (tried IE 7, was a mess) and TWINKLE would not work for me. Would POPUPS or AWB work in my monobook page? Lord Sesshomaru 16:28, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- Things like WP:AWB can do automatic edits. Though it seems to just crash around on me :( Voice-of-All 18:24, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Please stop your bot from fixing my edits on my user page, its not vandalism. Thanks. --Gephart 17:25, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- It doesn't revert users' edits to their own pages, though apparently you were logged out when you made it. Voice-of-All 05:46, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
RE: Deletion of Category:GA-Class Dravidian civilizations articles=
[edit]Hi,
I have noticed that Category:GA-Class Dravidian civilizations articles has been deleted on March 6, 2007. Could you please let me know how it could be un-deleted so it could be used? Regards. Wiki Raja 04:49, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Restored. It was deleted from a huge list, one that had more than a few false positives. Voice-of-All 05:07, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Revision deletion
[edit]You've been working on the new system to make deletion of revisions easier and replace oversight. Do you know what the status of this is? When might this be implementable here? Mr.Z-mantalk¢ 18:04, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
I was reverted mistakenly

You reverted my legitimate edit
[edit]I removed content per the BLP policy, and as you can see by going to the history of Terry Gerin there is a problem with BLP, but I was reverted anyway. Please be more careful next time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kungfoofighting1 (talk • contribs)

Vandalism?
[edit]Whilst reverting vandalism edits made by user:217.75.139.25 (eg [40] which was reverted by Chris G after 217.75.139.25 repeated vandalism of that article), your bot picked up my revisions as vandalsim and reverted them back to the vandalized articles [41]. Could you please make note of this? I know no bot can be 100%, but being labeled a vandal whilst fighting vandals is off putting. I'm removing the "warning" from my page. Thanks. ~ NossB 10:36, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
After a vandal blanked the page, it seems both User:Hasek is the best and User:VoABot II tried to revert it at the same time, with Hasek succeeding first. Usually, this wouldn't be a problem, but for some reason, VoABot II removed a piece of Wiki-syntax, breaking a link to Athens [42]. Any idea what happened? --Stemonitis 16:35, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
A similar problem at Mountain Meadows massacre: VoABot II reverted but missed out the "]]" at the end of a link: [43]. I can't see any more edits like these yet, but I'll keep looking. --Stemonitis 16:39, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
OK, two more: [44] Statue of Liberty and [45] Michael Owen. I've turned VoABot II off, as a precaution. --Stemonitis 16:49, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Odd, all it does is load previous revisions and save them. Voice-of-All 19:35, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Checkuser on GuardianZ/Ebonyskye
[edit]Hello. I saw that you declined the checkuser for GuardianZ and I'm thinking I may not have explained myself properly. GuardianZ is barred from editing any articles related to Midnight Syndicate or Nox Arcana through a decision by the arbitration committee. While she is no longer active as GuardianZ, I believe she has created a new user name, Ebonyskye, to circumvent this arbitration decision. I thought that a checkuser was the appropriate place to determine if they are the same person. If a checkuser is not appropriate, is there somewhere else I should be reporting this? Thank you, Skinny McGee 20:50, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Requests for checkuser/Case/Statsone
[edit]Hi Voice of All, I'm responding to this because ICarriere accuses me of being a sockpuppet of Statsone on the checkuser page. The subject of the page in question recently said a quote on national television that garnered some coverage on major blogs (with video) and eventually the subject was made fun of on The Daily Show because of the quote. ICarriere has been keeping the quote off the subject's wikipedia page (the page is now locked) and accuses everyone who has come to the page to add the quote / or defend the adding of it in the talk page as a sockpuppet (among many other things) even though it recently received all this publicity. Just some background in case you haven't checked out the subject's talk page. Aquavit 21:28, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Flagged revisions and templates

Blocked Specialjane
[edit]I have queried the block you placed on User:Specialjane at WP:AN. In the time it's taken me to get here, I've had a response "You prolly need to ask User:Voice of All. There is a reason given, the log says the account was a sock of User:Dereks1x.". This Specialjane is an SPA per policy as far as I can tell. It's not been used in any abusive fashion - a few explanation edits on 15th and 16th August, and nothing thereafter until blocking 9 days later. Some parts of it's stated purpose of "helping others" probably cannot be carried out while it is blocked. PalestineRemembered 09:50, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- If User:Specialjane is a sockpuppet of User:Dereks1x, why can't I find User:Specialjane on Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Case/Dereks1x? --Raphael1 10:24, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- There are probably hundreds of blocked socks of Dereks1x that don't show up on RFCU. At least part of that is WP:DENY; we've no interest in providing these annoyances with trophies for their bad behavior. Another part of that is that it's simply a waste of time to make a new formal request every time another mole pops up; we just verify it, whack it, and move on, sometimes following a talk page request, sometimes following an email request, etc. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 18:08, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
User:Eep² on MediaWiki
[edit]Hi, for your information discussion relating to your comment to User:Eep² has continued here so far I have tried to keep it civil. --Zven 08:08, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- First apologies if I posted this in the wrong place, I may have misread your statement on your MW:User:Voice_of_All home page literally as suggesting to post here. I think some resolution may have been made by User:HappyDog over this, although Eep² is still continuing to make comments. I have to agree with HappyDog about Eep²'s contributions , having said that he does'nt need to antagonise any further. He just needs to moderate his attitute towards others slightly --Zven 20:14, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Aaron, thanks for the quick reply to my question about using MediaWiki for online encyclopedias without user-created content. Question
[edit]Hello,
I have seen the history of your userpage. It seems to be protected, and I can't find any vandal edits. So did you delete the histories and indefinitely protected it? Thanks.Gunrbotter2 00:33, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Checkuser denied - question
[edit]Hi. This was my first RfC, and in order to avoid taking up anyone's time again unnecessarily, can you please let me know: continually editing pages under a username and a separate IP is acceptable wiki policy, as long as the edits aren't vandalism? I'd appreciate it if you could let me know. Thanks. Info999 20:20, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- People can use alternate accounts, but not disruptively (gaming 3RR/vote stacking/vandalizing userpages ect...). Voice-of-All 20:28, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
RE: Deletion of Several Categories for Dravidian civilizations
[edit]Hi,
I have noticed that the following categories have been deleted on March 5th & 6th, 2007:
- Category:Dravidian civilizations articles by importance
- Category:Needed-Class Dravidian civilizations articles
- Category:Disambig-Class Dravidian civilizations articles
- Category:Category-Class Dravidian civilizations articles
- Category:Dravidian civilizations articles with comments
Could you please let me know how it could be un-deleted so it could be used? Regards. Wiki Raja 03:13, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism?
[edit]I added a section to the Julie Andrews page at 16:53, 5 September 2007, and made appropriate references. I forgot to add an edit summary and it was instantly deleted. However after adding an edit summary it was instantly deleted again and marked as vandalism. Limehouseblues

Moving cases down to completed/rejected with script
[edit]The CU script appears to be malfunctioning. When you are editing a case page, and click to move a case down to completed/rejected, it opens the window, but does not actually move the case down or fill in the summary. GrooveDog (talk) (Review) 23:49, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- I look at it. Voice-of-All 02:20, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
You have twice reverted revisions I have made to this article to previous versions because you have detected that I, user 76.103.43.63, have removed large amounts of material. This is not vandalism, nor spam, not experimentation. What I have done is deleted my own additions to the article. I came to the conclusion that what I added was without proper citations and might face sourcing challenges. I also believe my edits were overly long. I believe that the material I added is scrupulously factual, but I have decided to remove it for the time being and either add it again later with complete references or let others expand the article. I hope that this message makes my intentions clear. Thank you, 76.103.43.63 21:44, 8 September 2007 (UTC)73.103.43.6376.103.43.63 21:44, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
