Created by CJ-Moki (talk). Self-nominated at 03:43, 8 March 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Pinky & Pepper Forever; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.[reply]

  • No issues with the article itself; new enough, long enough and from neutral point of view. Hook is intriguing and backed up by source provided, included in article. First time DYK contributor so QPQ does not apply. Happy to pass this, good job! Sims2aholic8 (talk) 09:31, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@CJ-Moki and Sims2aholic8: We need another hook. The reference for the hook is by a "Contributor". What I can find about the person: "Carta Monir is an artist, porn performer, and micropress publisher living in Ann Arbor, Michigan". I am also not sure we should use their name in the hook since they are not known and they have no Wikipedia article. Bruxton (talk) 15:59, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sims2aholic8 and Bruxton: Would
The Comics Journal predicted that Pinky & Pepper Forever would "inspire a generation of artists"? work? CJ-Moki (talk) 18:17, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@CJ-Moki: Are you able to suggest a new hook that is completely independent of the Comics Journal? It might make better sense to go with a different quote and individual to give it a bit more clout than just to list the publication alone, if we continue to source the DYK from the Reception section. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 18:29, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sims2aholic8: How about ... that Jacob Anderson-Minshall acclaimed Pinky & Pepper Forever as "a fabulous dark comedy about two lesbian puppy-girls, determined to stay together through art school, death, and hell itself"? CJ-Moki (talk) 19:09, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I would support the new hook suggestion. Recognised contributor, and also good juxtaposition of the different facets of the story which should intrigue the reader. Are you able to include the source of the quote here as with the previous hook? Sims2aholic8 (talk) 09:12, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am not fond of the choices, so pinging a hook proposer to see if they have ideas: Cielquiparle Bruxton (talk) 17:32, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Cielquiparle If you have a chance I could use your assistance with a hook here. Or you can overrule me on my opinion. Bruxton (talk) 19:04, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There seems to be a lot of potential here, so I would definitely keep working on it until you find exactly the right hook. The main challenges are to not make light of suicide, and to keep it factual in the real world rather than referring only to in-universe facts. Here are a few ideas...keep going if they aren't quite right.
  • ALT3: ... that Pinky & Pepper Forever is a dark comedy that follows two anthropomorphic dog girlfriends through hell?
  • ALT4: ... that Pinky & Pepper Forever is a graphic novel that follows two anthropomorphic "puppy-girls" through hell?

@CJ-Moki and Sims2aholic8: opinions? Bruxton (talk) 02:09, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Cielquiparle: If I'm understanding you correctly, you're insinuating that mentioning suicide in a hook would be making light of the subject (please correct me if I'm wrong on this), which I don't understand the logic of. By that logic, we've also made light of numerous genocides and other crimes against humanity, including the Holodomor, the Holocaust, and the Rwandan genocide. I don't think it's strictly necessary to avoid mentioning suicide in the hook, but I don't think I understand what I think is this opposition to mentioning it in the hook. I apologize if I'm misunderstanding you. CJ-Moki (talk) 02:54, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@CJ-Moki: I will strike the comment. It is irrelevant to this DYK nomination since none of the hooks so far make light of suicide. Cielquiparle (talk) 05:56, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(Though I would add, none of the examples you point to make light of genocide or crimes against humanity in wikivoice. There is a difference.) Cielquiparle (talk) 06:13, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sims2aholic8, Bruxton, and Cielquiparle: I prefer ALT3 out of the options listed here. CJ-Moki (talk) 06:29, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@CJ-Moki, Bruxton, and Cielquiparle: I'm happy with either of the new suggested ALTs, although I'd maybe suggest merging them to reference it as a graphic novel and the dogs as girlfriends (see below ALT5). Sims2aholic8 (talk) 13:56, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • ALT5: ... that Pinky & Pepper Forever is a graphic novel that follows two anthropomorphic dog girlfriends through hell?
What does everyone think? Thank you all for working on this. Bruxton (talk) 14:04, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sims2aholic8, Bruxton, and Cielquiparle: I approve of ALT5. CJ-Moki (talk) 18:09, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wait[edit]

Is this supposed to be furry? I know not everything with anthropomorphic characters is furry so that's why I'm asking. Americanfreedom (talk) 04:27, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This ComicsBeat article describes it as furry. CJ-Moki (talk) 20:25, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
