What are the minimum amount of games for this list?[edit]

What's the minimum amount of seasons with a franchise for this list? I think it should be clarified, otherwise players like Spencer Abbott (1 NHL game ever) would qualify for the list. Spilia4 (talk) 20:44, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

General Guidelines[edit]

Counting Seasons[edit]

A season is only counted if a player plays one game for the NHL franchise that season. If a player was drafted or signed by a team but did not play a game for the franchise, that would not count. If a player leaves the team and returns, their total seasons are counted. Seasons played only in the franchise's Junior or Minor affiliates should not be counted.

If a Franchise is relocated, the seasons from the previous location are included. If a team changes their name, the seasons from the previous name and mascot are included. For example, Shane Doan's time at the original Winnipeg Jets are counted towards his service time with the Arizona/Phoenix Coyotes.

NHL players who have spent their career at one franchise list[edit]

To qualify, a player must have ended their career playing at least a game in at least ten different NHL seasons for only a single NHL franchise. The seasons do not need to be consecutive. Playing for a franchise outside of the NHL does not disqualify the player from this list. A player serving in another capacity for another franchise does not invalidate their inclusion. Do not add a player until they have retired.

Potential future candidates list[edit]

To qualify for this list, a player is active and has played at least ten seasons for one franchise. When a player has formally announced their retirement, they can be moved.

Offseason trade: when a player is traded from a team they have been with their whole career, please do not remove them until they play their first game with the new team. The player may decide to retire or leave the NHL.

Counts by Franchise[edit]

A player counts towards a franchise total after they've been added to the "NHL players who have spent their career at one franchise list". Active players should not be included.
