Active players[edit]

I've reverted the list to not use bold for active players. They were already marked in blue with an asterisk as in the precedent with the featured list at List of National Football League annual receiving yards leaders. It's overkill to also use bold, and we should be consistent among lists in the project, if feasible.—Bagumba (talk) 07:52, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Historical career passing yardage leaders[edit]

For the equivalent rushing yardage article, there is a list of historical career yardage leaders. I think a similar list would improve this article, but I can't find a decent source. I remember that for years Frank Tarkenton held it, and then he was passed by Dan Marino, who was passed by Favre, who was passed by Manning. But I don't have knowledge of dates, or the pre-Tarkenton era. Nor do I have a WP:RS. Anyone fancy taking up that challenge? --Legis (talk - contribs) 04:13, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Legis: I added the historical chart on the rushing yards page; sadly I couldn't find an equivalent list for passing yards leaders. Creating one ourselves would be doable, but not without a bit of WP:OR. Lizard (talk) 05:32, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, thanks. I may try and construct an outline of one from the various WP pages (apparently the two which preceded the names above were Johnny Unitas and Y.A. Tittle). We can backfill once we find a suitable RS and then copy it over to the main page. --Legis (talk - contribs) 06:47, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I found a source! HISTORY OF THE CAREER PASSING YARDS RECORD!) --Legis (talk - contribs) 08:03, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Cool beans. That list really highlights how Sammy Baugh was a trailblazer in the passing game, on top of being one of the greatest punters and defensive backs of all time. Lizard (talk) 02:17, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Post season yards[edit]

I am thinking to add a new subsection on career post-season passing yards. Before I go ahead and Be Bold! about it, does anyone have any thoughts or comments? --Legis (talk - contribs) 15:45, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Why isn't Brees listed as an active player? He hasn't announced his retirement as yet. Randy Kryn (talk) 20:18, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ongoing discussion about returning the combined season-playoff statistic[edit]

Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Football League#Brady redux: He should pass 100,000 yards passing next game, let's bring back this mark on List of NFL career passing yards leaders, please join in if you'd like. Randy Kryn (talk) 13:37, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Most definitely I agree and especially this section too which has been wiped for no apparent reason as it was combined and was to a certain degree above 85K combined yards but taken out when not needed or asked. Chn23 (talk) 08:18, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Chn23, the matter was voted on and there was not support. See the discussion here. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:23, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Numbers?[edit]

The description at the top makes no sense, says brady has 106k regular season passing yards, yet in the table it says brady has 90k, and NFL's website says it should be 89,214.... 208.180.10.122 (talk) 04:31, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Done: Thanks for pointing this out, I fixed it. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:10, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
