yeah, please change to Ultimate Edition PC edition.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.11.103.122 (talk) 15:17, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Prominent People[edit]

None of those 'quotes' have been cited, so I have deleted this section. It sounds like vandalism to me. --82.1.253.66 (talk) 22:47, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion page/Additions to article[edit]

What happened to the discussion page? It looks like someone deleted everything, but I'm new to participating in wikipedia so maybe I'm wrong.

Pertaining to the article, it should be clarified whether or not the PS2 version and Windows version use the same servers, I.E. can PS2 version owners play with Windows version owners? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Darktangent (talkcontribs) 03:54, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All players play on the same servers regardless of the platform that they're running the game with (Windows, PS2, X-Box 360). If players were segregated to different servers based on their platform, then I think it might be appropriate to mention that. But because it's not, I don't think that it needs to be added. --Junior612 (talk) 00:20, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

May want to start adding to plot of new additions in the game since new Abyssea Battle Field Add-ons have seperate story/world from main storylines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.250.2.10 (talk) 19:15, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uematsu picture[edit]

I have a problem with presenting a big picture of Uematsu on the page when most of the game (when including expansions) is composed by Mizuta. I know Uematsu composed the main theme, but Mizuta is doing all the work. Give credit where credit is due. --Kaleb.G (talk) 19:07, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with that as well. To my knowledeg however there is no free image of Mizuta available though if you wanted to replace itOttawa4ever (talk) 21:49, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think either of these would do nicely. http://squarehaven.com/media/naoshi_mizuta//mizuta_02.jpg http://vgmdb.net/db/assets/portraits/610-1257602639.jpg —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.53.116.102 (talk) 20:50, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kato Interview[edit]

I don't know enough about FFXI to integrate this into the article, but it'd make a nice addition. ZeaLitY [ DREAM - REFLECT ] 19:26, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Time for a thorough going over[edit]

I came to this article interested in the reception the game had received. In checking the final paragraph of the lead I found two unsourced statements and an error. If this is representative of the article as a whole, I think the time has come for an expert to give the article a thorough going over to maintain its FA prestige. 2011 Earthquake effects[edit]

Square-Enix has shut down FFXI, nominally for a week, as part of the energy conservation efforts being asked of companies in Japan, though it may be longer. This is/will be a major part of this game's history and perhaps even MMO history too and is definately worth noting. It's the first time FFXI has ever been shut down for more than a day (it may have been down for about 1 full day with the 2010 server merges). http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnews/news20541.shtml

There is also talk that with the potential ongoing power issues thru the summer, Square-Enix may need to host the game's servers at a backup site outside Japan. Any news like that would be posted on their FFXI website and if they do that, that should be noted in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.176.143.0 (talk) 07:34, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Genuine question[edit]

I noticed this article has a list of jobs for the game. I was just wondering how it avoided removal, I've seen lists of jobs/occupations/classes removed in so many other video game articles with folks citing WP:GAMECRUFT. — -dainomite   06:23, 16 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Because the job classes are classic and define the characters you play to some level; its not game cruft at all. ChrisGualtieri (talk)

Major article issues?[edit]

Amazon ([1],[2]) is used as a source, so I'm not sure how it meets Featured Criteria. Any other issues I'm missing? --George Ho (talk) 22:24, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Minor issue[edit]

In the "Game Economy" sub heading, it says,

"The city of Jeuno used to levy a tax on bazaar purchases inside the city, but it was removed in a patch in the December 2008 version update. This tax remains in place in the areas of Aht Urhgan Whitegate and Al Zahbi."

Not that it means much, but I play FF; I'm not sure in which update, I believe the last year or so, but recently they also removed the tax in the Aht Urhgan areas. I can try to find the developer forum post, they would likely put it in there. Would that qualify as an acceptable source? Dodavuko (talk) 16:26, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Since it's a very simple fact, it does not need a secondary source. Zero Serenity (talk) 16:43, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Still. It should be sourced. Its a contestable fact and well within means of being sourced. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:35, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

PlayStation 2 PAL Release[edit]

It says in the info that the game was released on PlayStation 2 in Europe in September 2014. After a good chunk of time spent on researching this (being interested in the PAL release myself), all the clues point to one conclusion: Final Fantasy XI was never released on the PS2 in PAL territories due to the lack of the HDD support in Europe and Australia.

I've read about people buying copies of the NTSC U/C console and game in Europe and Australia as late as 2007 in order to play in those regions. I've included links to some of these sources below. If I'm mistaken, please, do not hesitate to correct me.

Thanks,

We Are Vana'diel site[edit]

Since it looks like it's finally winding down the "20th anniversary" activities (actually lasted from circa 19th through 21st anniversaries), I just wanted to remind folks that the We Are Vana'diel is absolutely chock full of interviews and development materials. Currently it's only cited once in the article, which seems like a waste. If you find any tidbits, definitely be bold and just add it with the ref! Axem Titanium (talk) 20:26, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
