2024 Taiwan earthquake → 2024 Hualien earthquake. For consistency with other Taiwan earthquake articles such as the 2018 Hualien earthquake. As far as the template box is concerned, this is the only earthquake in Taiwan that uses Taiwan. Borgenland (talk) 14:01, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

Tampering of refs

User:Nkywvuong has been POV-pushing their nomenclature for Taiwan in violation of Common Name protocols and is even unscrupulous enough to tamper with a USGS reference title just to fit their agenda (see [[1]]) and rudely make an edit summary in a language that not everyone can understand (see [[2]]). I personally would have wanted sanctions but then again we are all bound to assume good faith unless necessary. Tsunami height map

PRC Tsunami

Advanced warning info incorrect

The article says "Taiwan's earthquake alert system did not send an advance alert of the mainshock, unlike in previous instances" - this is incorrect. I was in Taipei at the time and I received a broadcast alert on my phone some 10-12 seconds before the tremor started in Taipei. It was issued by the Presidential Office and advised of an incoming earthquake, asking to remain calm and seek cover. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/apr/07/as-well-prepared-as-they-could-be-how-taiwan-kept-death-toll-low-in-massive-earthquake - this has a paragraph about the warnings - it seems areas with lower intensity didn't get the notification, higher intensity areas (like Taipei) did:

"The nationwide mobile alerts also give people what experts say are precious seconds to find cover before debris starts to tumble. CCTV footage from a maternity centre in Taipei, the capital, which also felt some shocks, showed nurses racing to stabilise wobbling cots to protect the newborns.

In another video, the earthquake warning system can be seen interrupting a live television broadcast more than 10 seconds before the studio starts to shake (although the presenter continues to report).

Still, people in some counties that experienced smaller quakes complained that they did not receive phone alerts. Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration said they were only sent to people in areas which registered an intensity of 4 or above , although the agency is reportedly working on developing an artificial intelligence system to provide more targeted warnings in future.

Missing and Trapped

Should a distinction be made between those trapped/stranded and those simply missing in the infobox? Borgenland (talk) 16:43, 5 April 2024 (UTC)

I am not sure how one would differentiate those trapped and stranded versus those who are simply missing. While a few may be able to be identified by communicating that they are trapped, I imagine that the majority who may be trapped or stranded are unknown and would fit under "missing". In the lede we have:
