Your reasons for declining this page seem to be following their own logic. I have been told in the commons that this should be accepted as it was (let alone with the new edits). It meets the guidelines Wikipedia names for notability (secondary coverage in major media, academic accolades). Whether you personally think it counts as being notable is something else, but that seems to be what you are running on. AxelRR (talk) 13:25, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi.excuse me I'm new here and I just was trying to make a page for my friend Arsha Aghdasi, he is a famous Stuntman in Iran. And he doesn't have only one award, there is three, I was about to improve the page and I still have about 40 links of his video and interviews. I can't understand why you delete the page? What was wrong with that?because he is a big deal! Please let me know how should I make this page. Thank you.Setareh Malek (talk) 03:34, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You mentioned that the above mentioned article will be deleted within a week because it didnot have any credible reference apart from Hindustan Times. I have added new more credible references (Economic Times, Times of India, Business Today and Indian Express); even external links have been added for the same (other wikipedia articles). Do let me know if any further enhancement needs to be done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aditya.mishra.ace (talkcontribs) 06:30, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Cis-Kuen Lun Tract is the same as the Trans-Karakoram Tract which I have edited extensively! You wanted sources. The Times Atlas link which shows the depiction of the northern border of Kashmir is the source! The map displays an enclosed area in northern Kashmir with the caption "Undefined Frontier area". The area encompassing the caption "Undefined Frontier area" is the Cis-Kuen Lun Tract. It is the same thing as the Trans-Karakoram Tract. The only difference is that the while the Trans-Karakoram Tract extends from the Karakoram Range northwards to the Kuen Lun Range, the Cis-Kuen Lun Tract extends from the Kuen Lun Range southwards towards the Karakoram range in central Kashmir. View the Times Atlas map of 1954 which depicts the northern border of Kashmir on the watershed of the Kuen Lun Range on the Taghdumbash Pamir, Mariom Pamir, and the Raskam range or ridge and depicts the caption "Undefined Frontier area" below it extending towards the Karakoram range and the Chhogori Peak K2 but not actually touching K2 as even the Times Atlas did not consider the K2 peak to be disputed. Nor did the Times Atlas consider the Shaksgam Valley disputed for that matter as can be seen in the 1954 map published by the Times Atlas.I am adding this because there is a concerted effort to restrict the Trans-Karakoram Tract to the Shaksgam Valley which is clearly erroneous and not borne out by records!Even the official map published by the The Government of Pakistan depicting the alignment of the northern Border of Kashmir in 1962, depicted much of the Cis-Kuen Lun Tract as part of Kashmir and the alignment published by the Government of Pakistan predominantly was similar to and coincided with the portrayal of the northern Border of Kashmir in 1954 by the Times Atlas which had predominantly depicted the Cis-Kuen Lun Tract as a part of Kashmir under the caption "Undefined Frontier area" though at places, the official position of the Government of

Map depicting the official alignment of the northern border of Kashmir in 1962 according to the Government of Pakistan

Pakistan deviated from the position of the Times Atlas and the Government of Pakistan even depicted areas as part of Kashmir which were to the north of the border of Kashmir as published in 1954 by the Times Atlas! Also for an idea of the extent of the Trans-Karakoram Tract or the Cis-Kuen Lun Tract, please view this map (C) from the Joe Schwartzberg's Historical Atlas of South Asia at DSAL in Chicagowith the caption, "The boundary of Kashmir with China as portrayed and proposed by Britain prior to 1947". The geographical and territorial extent of the Trans-Karakoram Tract or the Trans-Kuen Lun Tract is more or less the territory enclosed between the northern most line and the innermost lines! Also if one were to look for sources or references for the Trans-Karakoram Tract on the internet, the only references would be the articles on Wikipedia and no other. So there!

Hence I request you to redirect Cis-Kuen Lun Tract to Trans-Karakoram Tract and then there will be no need for a separate article titled Cis-Kuen Lun Tract. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 106.51.31.23 (talk) 07:45, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

10:30:49, 10 May 2016 review of submission by Nairji

    Hello David,

Thank you again for your review and the feedback. Appreciate it.

With complete regard and due respect to your judgement I would like to put my argument forward to reconsider the declination because the citations and links provided are from some of the leading publications in India. And moreover the links / references submitted are not "passing comments" about the subject, most of them are dedicated interviews given by her in main-line media (print as well as television) and these television channels are in top 10 channels based on the popularity as well as the viewership when it comes to entertainment segment in India.

Requesting you to re-look at it, the references and links have been kept very specific and the selected sources are notable from a geo-specific popularity viewpoint.

Looking forward to a response from your side.

Thanks and best regards, Nairji (talk) 10:30, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewing Anthony Jakobs you spend less than 60 seconds and chose to tag it with {{notability}} using Page Curation in Previous revision of Anthony Jakobs. To me the article with sentences like

Jakobs has gone through multiple aliases including Antonio Cabreja, Anthony Jako, and West Jaco, before deciding on Anthony Jakobs. He's stated that Anthony Jakobs is simply the most professional and flows the best.

reeks of 14-year old writing his WP:AB, and I can't find a single thing that, to me, sounds like a credible claim of significance. Which do you find is a CCS?

Another thing I would have done prior to tagging with {{db-person}} would have been to remove this entire section

    Personal life
Jakobs identifies as bisexual, having had publicly come out on April 10, 2016. In the same video he revealed that he's been in a relationship with photographer Tyson Leon-Guerrero since February. Jakobs has also publicly talked about his struggles with having Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

pursuant to WP:GRAPEVINE and obviously disregarding a post such as this. Why did you leave it in? Sam Sailor Talk! 11:47, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Missed the above? Sam Sailor Talk! 12:39, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sam Sailor No I have not, I saw it the first time, I saw the article the first time and I would've Speedied but imagined someone would remove as 'significant'. I Speedied it now but it was also removed, ha! We'll at best have G4 now for later. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 15:14, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

But I asked you two questions, and you only sort-of replied to one.

    (a) Why would you as a NPPer avoid A7 tagging with the argument that "(I) imagined someone would remove as 'significant'" if at the same time you say that "I would've Speedied"?

    (b) Your reply to the BLP violation is anticipated.

    Sam Sailor Talk! 21:02, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW, again, I actually speedied it earlier today but it was removed. In case you've haven't noticed, Sam Sailor, several speedies and PRODs are roughly removed recently and several of mine included (*ahem* Adam9007 *ahem*), who seem to think even the slightest thing sometimes (for his example a listed filmography or discography) is a claim of significance. Looking again now, I would've taken my chances and gone with the speedy or PROD if needed. I hope this answers your question and we can resolve this thread. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 22:51, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, naturally your A7 of the article today was removed, as we are in the middle of the consensus driven part of DELPRO at AfD. Basic stuff.

Frankly, it does not make much sense to me what you are saying, yes, CCS is not written in stone, but in this case there is f*ck-O (US en: not a g*ddamn) CCS.

You still dodge the BLP violation. It is difficult to imagine, that you would not be aware of it, if you had seen it. Does that mean that you simply did not read the whole article before tagging?

    Sam Sailor Talk! 23:07, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sam Sailor I looked at the article but I still would not have been surprised if the tag had been removed given the apparent filmography and discography. It's certainly a useless article and is best tagged, I'm an advocate of tagging articles regardless of AfDs if it certainly still applies like this case. Easier for everyone and also AfD which has enough nominations as it is. As it is, I encountered an article a few moments ago that was controversial so I have simply tagged the hell out of it. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 23:19, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In the less than 60 seconds you spend on the article, it seems highly unlikely that you should have had time to dig into the so-called "filmography". I also find it unlikely to think that a diligent NPPer would have fallen prey to this empty fluff.

The so-called "discography" was not present at the time you tagged it, so I'm not sure why you mention it. I hope that other editors than myself would hover over the songs and quickly conclude that the discography is another attempt to fool the superficial curator, e.g. subject had nothing to do with Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" or any of the other four songs mentioned.

Until now nobody has reported a CCS was present in Anthony Jakobs, but since you mention Adam9007 as a user who "roughly removes speedies", why not ping him, and ask his opinion?

I take note that you disregard DELPRO when you state that I'm an advocate of tagging articles regardless of AfDs.

As for the BLP violation that you did not catch and still do not comment on: I urge you to spend much more time on actually reading articles that you intend to curate.

    Sam Sailor Talk! 00:08, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@SwisterTwister: Can you give us some examples please? I don't recall ever saying that merely having a filmography or discography is a claim of significance. It's much more likely it had something to do with one or more of the songs/films in them (such as the subject playing a major role in a notable film which happened to be on the filmography). Hi, I got a tag from you for a reference improvement for the article on the Sydney Glaciarium. Before removing the tag you applied I thought I'd point out that absolutely every section of content on that article is in fact referenced and also every reference is from a major national newspaper. Newspaper articles from the time period, citing an event that took place in that time period, are about as credible a source and high quality a source that you can get ... I completely disagree that the credibility of the references need to be improved and do beg you to acknowledge national newspaper articles from the given time period as being one of the most credible references possible. I purposely try to not use reflective articles, written about an event years after the fact. I am happy to discuss this further with you if you still do not agree that articles written for national newspapers by first hand witnesses to the event, at the time the event occurred, are a credible reference.

How I would improve this article on the historic Sydney Glaciarium is not credibility of the references, but the quantity of information on the article itself. Something I am in the process of doing and in the very spirit of the wiki - hope others do too. Orion 2012 (talk) 12:42, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear SwisterTwister, thanks for your second rejection and 3rd from Wiki's editor team as it allows me to provide even more references from international coverages of Charged Hong Kong despite the fact that it is a year old. There are now 56 references and they are either critically important to the development of the officially registered charity in Hong Kong or simply highly notable such as Forbes, Bloomberg, Reuters, CNBC, BBC, International Business Times, etc. Just to name a few. I have also written the article according to the Wikipedia's "guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:The_answer_to_life,_the_universe,_and_everything, which states that "Articles generally require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the topic." As far as anyone can tell, age of the organisation as the reason you have repeatedly rejected my article on, in this case on Charged Hong Kong as a registered charity doing good things to the world advocating clean air through electric vehicle adaptation, does not appear in any sense as a specific requirement and prerequisite by Wikipedia as a reason for rejection of article submission. What's more, using 'age' of a person, an organisation and particularly for a registered charity to judge its influence to the world is immature and unprofessional. Simply because by naming a minimum age requirement to be worthy of an article on Wikipedia, there will be thousands of counter-examples on Wikipedia.

Hello SwisterTwister. I'm a very new Wikipedia contributor. Not even beginning to be an editor. Earlier this month I added an article about Joseph McCormackMD. Today, I wanted to start an article about his son Arthur T McCormack but somehow instead of putting it in my sandbox, I put in somewhere for all the world to see. I'm just about finished with it, but in the meantime, I'd really like to understand what changes you made so I'll better know how to write in the future. Plus, I've got some questions about things that aren't working correctly and would love it if someone like you could help me through the sweet spots. Hi, sorry about removing the prod. I didn't even notice I had. Probably an edit conflict as you said. The page author had taken Wgolf and me through a couple rounds of adding fake refs and removing a BLPprod so I was coming to the conclusion that AfD was for the best as it is harder to game (ie you can't kill it just by removing the tag). Hello SwisterTwister. I would like to request that Seraphim (American Band) be kept up and not considered for deletion, as they are an established, even if unsigned, musical group. They have worked with higher-class musicians such as Johnny Franck of Attack Attack! and their music is legally obtainable through iTunes purchases.

Proof of Johnny Franck's work with them: http://www.johnnyfranck.com/

    • Under selected credits and discography, Seraphim's music is listed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Apartion (talkcontribs) 06:43, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SwisterTwister. It should not be necessary to say, that we don't tag with A1 and A3 for the first 10-15 minutes after creation. In 粉絲專頁 yours came after only 4 minutes. Article Review for ATP Electronics

Upon your review on April 26, that the article for Draft:ATP Electronics still needed more notability references, I have since then added more notable references to the article. would you kindly assess if the article can moved to public ? Proper Sources

The sources listed on the Joey Fatts article are very reputable, Vibe Magazine, Billboard, MTVNEWS, XXL Magazine...... I'm not sure how much more credible it gets for a newer artist... He also has an upcoming tour that will give him much more press but I need his wiki up. Please please let me know how I can get this darn thing up because it has already taken up far more time than I allotted for it. Thank you so much for your help! Hello SwisterTwister. Could you please let me know which passages in my submission are still too promotional? It would be a great help. Unfortunately your statement is slightly too generic and I am confused. Thanks in advance! BjoernSgav (talk) 12:19, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    When will you slow down?

In Diff of Me Adarayai you tagged with A7 10 min (9 min 59 sec actually) after creation with the edit summary ???? Over 10 minutes and nothing.......... Why would you tag what a Google search appears to reveal is a teledrama with A7? Sam Sailor Talk! 07:20, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sam Sailor It's not about that, it's simply that the user needs to give reasonable time to at least actually start the article. I firmly comment I'm not interested with any heated comments and criticism. Frankly you may think I tag anything too soon, but knowing everyone else, it's always gets tagged sooner or later. Also, these users are obligated to at least give an reasonably acceptable article, or else restart it when they are set to begin. SwisterTwister talk 07:22, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I can understand you are not interested in criticism. I think there are other more productive ways to content creation in a case like this, e.g. tagging with {{New user article}}. But you again dodge the question: why did you tag with A7 specifically? Sam Sailor Talk! 07:28, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sam Sailor I cordially welcome that you understand, I tagged it because it was applicable for both A3 and A7, no actual context aside from that and then also no significance. Even if there is information, there was enough reasonable time to at least make changes aside from that one action. SwisterTwister talk 07:30, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Is a teledrama eligible for A7? Sam Sailor Talk! 07:32, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Goodstart Early Learning

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Goodstart Early Learning, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!

You spent c. 2 minutes (Diff of Dil Aur MohabbatDiff of Goodstart Early Learning) on verifying 8-10 references to secondary sources present before prodding it (Previous revision of Goodstart Early Learning) with the rationale still questionable for WP:Notability (organizations and companies) and WP:GNG.

I don't believe any editor would claim to be able to vet 8-10 refs in 2 minutes. Do you? Sam Sailor Talk! 18:49, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

To avoid fragmentation I move your edit made to my talk page:

I simply wanted to note that I'm starting to consider your behavior and comments a bit serious and I hope this is not going to lead to hounding. FWIW, I thought you and I had come to better ground so I hope you're not intent to criticize everything of mine including what Tom29739 says.... No need to respond if you're going to have attitude or sarcasm. 19:00, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

The note left on my talk page instead of some straight answers here makes little sense to me. I am not aware that we have been on bad ground, if that is implied. You consider my "behavior" serious with a potential of hounding to it? By all means, if you believe that the awareness I am trying to raise here in regards to your tagging in articles that I happened to come across or, as is the case with Goodstart Early Learning, have edited via Short Page patrol before you, gives you ground to cast aspersions on my "behavior", would you not please take it to AN/I? To me, may I be frank, what you say sounds more like you wish to continue to avoid communication about your tagging.

I do think you should take my comments serious as well as take any other comment left on your talk page by other editors serious. That starts by communicating.

It has been less than a month since your tagging was discussed at AN/I in the thread User:SwisterTwister's reviewing issues. I did not participate. A common view expressed by editors who opposed the proposed restrictions in patrolling was: "This is fixable - he should slow down." One of your replies was: I am willing to change my pace and better examine these articles. But I don't see that is the case in the examples given above. Prodding Goodstart Early Learning looks like it was done on sheer gut-feeling, as any vetting of existing references and a search for sources would have indicated that the article can be sourced and notability verified. To me there are no excuses that can be reasonably made here, it is a simple case of rushing through reviewing and give a hoot about WP:PRODNOM.

Since you bring up Tom29739, your IRC friend (Diff of User talk:SwisterTwister, Diff of User talk:SwisterTwister, Diff of User talk:SwisterTwister, Diff of User talk:SwisterTwister, Diff of User talk:SwisterTwister), I noticed that he turned up on my talk page 49 seconds after you (Diff of User talk:Sam Sailor). My only interaction with Tom has been his 2-minute pile-on delete vote in your ill-prepared AfD nomination Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/FLAVORx. This is just one of four nominations made within minutes of each with very clear Keep outcomes:

Do you suggest that any experienced editor would believe you had performed the slightest WP:BEFORE in these four cases?

Among the many kind words of advice given at AN/I was: I would much rather turn SwisterTwister's considerable energy into a force for good without such restrictions. I do think that it's important that he listen to the feedback from other experienced editors and take it to heart.. I fully agree. But if what we witness here is a bad habit pattern, the first challenge is to acknowledge it, and then implement the needed changes to create good habits. Your outright position that

I'm not interested with any [...] criticism

is not helpful in that regard. Sincerely, Sam Sailor Talk! 08:23, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just a BIG thank you for the support I have received from you in chat on Wikipedia. As a newbie here, I have the utmost admiration for the people here who give their time - extremely generously - to help others, like myself, and tomaintain this amazing free resource - that is Wikipedia. The more I come here, the more impressed I am. There are corporate organisations that pay large wages to people, that don't provide any where close to the service that I have received on Wikipedia, and when you consider that the Wikipedia service is provided by committed volunteers who don't get paid anything, I feel I have to pay my respects and major gratitude to people like yourself. Hello,

What other information do you think would be needed in this article? I looked at many different sources, peer reviewed articles, scientific journals - and I cited them all, so I am a little confused about the references. I developed this page as an independent study with my college advisor while taking a scuba diving course. Based on direct experience and what I learned from the research, I believe I created a thorough and complete page. I think it is an important concept and needs to have its own page, not exist within the larger page of just Scuba Diving.

    Thank you,

    Brendan Ingargiola

    Hello SwisterTwister,

This article has been declined several times for lack of sources. I provided multiple 3rd party, non local sources that confirm the vineyard's notability and it was declined.

North Carolina wine is a booming industry in the state that has recently attributed to it being also known as the East Coast's Wine Valley. Missouri and other smaller wine states have Wikipedia pages with substantially less credible and notable vineyard pages. The Raffaldini Vineyard is wildly popular, so much so that Obama brought a bottle of wine to the Italian President.

I understand Wikipedia's effort to keep the site credible, but it shouldn't be this difficult to get an article approved with valuable content. How can we work together to get this published?

Below are less notable vineyards and wine states with approved Wikipedia pages:

Hello David, thank you for reviewing the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:This_Week_Newspaper submission and I'll go through the references one by one to try weeding out the sources that don't fit the the golden rule exactingly. Because the article deals with historic publishing events, my first inclination, rightly or wrongly, was to provide evidence of their existence using documents and images throughout the referencing process. Like the article on "The Independent" newspaper at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Independent, a number of the references used are not entirely independent (sic) in that the sources are The Independent itself and I would welcome your advice on this. Hello, my friend. I'm probably missing something obvious, but has anyone just asked you to maybe work other areas besides reviewing? A lot of people seem to find that you are going too fast or making errors or something. How would you feel about working other areas while watching other reviewer's outcomes to be sure, when you return to it, that all your calls will be acceptable to the community? Starting articles is bags of fun. We could work together on some of that. Thoughts? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:07, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I review others quite frequently, yes, Anna Frodesiak, all honesty is that I live and breath NPP and I'm rather obsessed. :P Fortunately I work with other areas such as AfD, AfC, etc. I still occupy myself with those puzzles as you may remember. ;) I was about to go to AfD exactly now when I was your message. :P FWIW, I have also planned to particularly perhaps start some genus articles, I've attempted other subjects but they're often always non-notable. :P SwisterTwister talk 00:42, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'd love to get in 10 edits & be confirmed but right now seriously involved with a kickstarter or I'm going to have to sell my house which is going into foreclosure. we have a resolution document signed by the members of the los angeles city council recognizing bela, but until confirmed can't upload any images - my friend wants to ask if that doc would help lend notoriety. this user name has email confirmed if there's any way outside of wiki to pass u a copy of that doc - just askin'FRAXAXSIS (talk) 07:39, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    @Lemongirl942: I have reverted out there. Thanks Abhinav619 (talk) 03:37, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Lemongirl942: I hope now the issue is completely resolved and you do not have any more issues with it. In case, there is, feel free to raise them. It was a good learning experience on Commons Abhinav619 (talk) 19:10, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In this case, other editors had already added tags yet you still prodded for not particularly clear reasons (your C-P prod justifications are not particularly helpful). This strikes me as clearly WP:BITEy behavior and so is not uncontroversial. I request you either refrain from this or at least use WP:AFD due the potential controversy associated with nominations like this. ~Kvng (talk) 14:59, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

About delation of North African Arabs article

    Hello Sir David
This article is created by some pan-arabists his name is alhaqiqa
This person vandalized many times the berbers article and also he commented on the articles for deletion to save his article so i deleted his comment
The North African Arabs article is created to abuse berbers and to distorting facts
In a section of this article "Berberisation and Berberised Arabs" they write Racism in North-Africa !!
There is an article "Arabs" so there is no need to create another article
I realy want your your opinion
This is his comment on the debate
"Keep Be Aware! This page is put up for deletion by a Berberist which has deleted many important information of many good pages on wikipedia about arabs. I already blocked AyOuBoXe of the page because he has deleted much reliable information without any sources or explanation. This is just a childish act of a North-African Berber which is playing games on Wikipedia and trying to remove the history of North-African Arabs. "
I removed this comment because it's his article .

    Bot Clarification Needed

First, thank you very much for your help with an article. My question now about the same one found at [2] is about the bot's Clarification Needed notice. I believe we decided the article was now clarified. Who removes that from the main page of the article? Do I just leave it there? WP:BEFORE is not a dirty word. At the above AFD you wrote Delete, but your opinion saying "...nothing to assume this can be timely improved for the notability" makes it seem that you based that opinion upon current state and did not practice any diligence to see if sources existed to meet WP:NF and so allow improvement. However, the article was quite easy to find ample sourcing to bring into line with MOS:FILM and WP:NF. I ask you to look at Mahanayika, study the improvements and sourcing, and reconsider your stance at to the AFD discussion... and perhaps go for a keep. Thanks, Schmidt, Michael Q. 17:04, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As you seem to have recently stumbled across the mother load of nigh orphaned articles from Wikipedia's early days, I figured you may like to give some input for this one. For reasons I can't fathom, this AfD has not received any input, which seems rather unusual. DARTHBOTTO talkcont 06:05, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article I submitted was declined on 24th April, I have reviewed and worked on it a few times and think I have now met the requirements. I resubmitted the article around the 6th May and wonder if I could get feedback on this please. Thank-you Pollyart123 (talk) 21:24, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I left a comment for you to look at. I disagree with delete and redirect as some of those pages in Jeopardy has been merged with other articles, also I want to merge what has not been not been merged into those articles. Then when that is done I will redirect to the appropriate pages. So I need more input into your deletion reasoning. TY Sawblade5 (talk to me | my wiki life) 01:25, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Keller Champ: Just a friendly note: reliable sources that provide mentions about topics can be used to verify content in articles, but do not serve to establish topic notability. North America1000 06:35, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reviewing my submission. I'll add reliable news sources as you suggest. As a first timer, perhaps you can advise on a couple of things: 1) do references have to be public or (for example) would analyst reports or conference material that require a subscription to access be acceptable? 2) there are a few other folks that are independent of the company that could contribute to the article. Is it OK for them to do so on this draft page, or is it better that one of them resubmit?

    appreciate the help!

Signac, LLC: Request for assistance on AfC submission

You said the page could not be posted because the company was "only founded this year thus it's not yet notable because it's too soon". Is this a rule that Wikipedia has? I can't find anything like that in the "notability guidelines", and it seems like an arbitrary decision. Signac is a joint venture by two separate billion-dollar, very notable companies, and is using software with a well-established track record. I made sure that my article had multiple citations from major, independent news sources that described the significance of Signac, which fulfills the all primary criteria for notability (depth of coverage; audience; independence of sources; and illegal conduct - the last of which does not apply). As detailed in the coverage from secondary sources, Signac is already making a substantial global impact by helping banking institutions to eliminate rogue trading and avoid other financial crises that have made major headlines and cost billions of dollars in recent years.

Thus it doesn't seem "too soon", and it meets all of Wikipedia's criteria for notability. It seems to me that waiting a year to post a Wikipedia page about this company would just make Wikipedia out of date for that time. I appreciate any suggestions you can give me to improve the article otherwise.

Hi, I saw that you redirected the Rockford Fosgate page to Jim Fosgate back in 2015. You wrote "Nothing to suggest independent notability or better improvement and may be best moved to Jim's article". I want to rewrite the page focusing on the history of the company but wanted to get your buy-in first since you took down the page. If I send you a draft, will you review it?

199.203.9.144 I meant to reply earlier but have not found the time to, you can certainly start a draft but I encourage you to start an account first to maintain consistency. Also, I suggest gathering enough information and sources to actually suggest its own notable article because, when I found encountered, there wasn't anything at all. Frankly I'm not confident there's actually enough for his own notable article because it seems he was best known for this. SwisterTwister talk 22:37, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Reply to rant

"Any article that has "stated aim" within the first few paragraphs is not acceptable." {{citation needed}} (lol!)

Also, "you insist with criticizing and hounding me, please stay away as I cannot take your vulgarity seriously" is a personal attack, provide evidences of hounding or retreat your accusations. I avoided to comment in your last ANI ventures and I did not commented in the large mayority of your AfDs. Given I regularly check and comment AfDs, speedy deletions and prods, and you spend hours as AfDer and prodder and comment everywhere, our interaction stats are actually well beyond the expected level. And "the article does not appear so promotional, proceed via AfD" is arguably a very civil edit summary with no trace of vulgarity, it does not justify your rant. You would spend your time better if you would reflect about your terrible AfD record as a nominator [4], with one half of your nominations failing, and on the reason they fail so much (lack of WP:BEFORE). My best, Cavarrone 06:19, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No, what's ranting is that I have specifically asked you to stay away because you actually go out of your way to remove PRODs, criticize me and my work, and respond quite vulgarly. See your talk page for your discussion with User:Chrisw80, where you basically never gave him an actual response. See also Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bertinazzi, where you specifically called me "stupid" and actually defended yourself with this again at that ANI. Please kindly stay away as I have said before because you clearly cannot speak calmly to me without causing some heated criticism. For example, you have even removed my PRODs "simply because you did not like them" with is not at all what Wikipedia is. SwisterTwister talk 06:23, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I never gave him a response?? Are you able to read this (I had to edit itand dividing it in paragraphes because it was a wall of text)? My response was very extended and accurate, what is not clear in it? about Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bertinazzi you keep on citing again and again, are you able to EXPLAIN your vote there as long as you were not able to explain it nor in the AfD not at ANI (and again I did not called you stupid but I called your comment stupid)? I am ready to give you excuses if you are able to explain your vote there. Also, I when I removed PRODs "simply because you did not like them"? {{citation needed}}. Cavarrone 06:34, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot obviously give links to those now-deleted articles from which the PRODs you removed, but regardless, you have never acknowledged a needed apology or otherwise regret of still making a personal threatening message by calling my comments stupid. Regardless, you still have not heeded my warnings to stay away from me because of this. About Chrisw80, you never actually also acknowledged an apology or otherwise regret. Even then any apologies made could not be taken thoroughly seriously or genuine given your still disdain towards me. You simply thanked him instead, instead of saying "Yes, I know I have been too harsh and I will attempt better to distance myself". SwisterTwister talk 06:39, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Again, you would sound more convincing if you would actually explain your vote at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bertinazzi. Before your comment several editors including me posted articles, dictionary entries, encyclopedia voices and monographies about the subject, then you arrived and ignoring both the current discussion and the sources you said it had to be deleted "for now" because... I don't know. If you want to improve yourself and avoid criticism, you should analyze the reasons I considered (and still consider) such a comment stupid (and disruptive too) instead of complaining about the word. And I have no idea on why this should be a "personal threatening message", and I have no idea on why I should to stay away from you because of this (YOU were actually wrong, not me), at best is a warning on posting constructive arguments and not "just a vote". About regrets, have you actually regretted about nominating tons of notable subjects for deletion causing a much deeper stress to articles' creators, mostly unexperienced editors, who probably did not sourced them just because they did not know how to do it or did not know the en.wiki rules? Or did you regret about losing potential new editors who had needed some assistance and instead found their articles deleted without even being notified about the deletions (and the reasons their articles were deleted)? About Chrisw80, you were welcome to join the discussion in my talk page if you were not satisfied of my response. My only goal is improving Wikipedia, and about you, improve the quality of your contributions, period. I have nothing personal about you, and if it may count for something, I think you make an excellent work as AfC reviewer. Still, I stay the point your deletion arguments are too often poor, that you should improve your WP:BEFORE, and you should notify the articles' creators when you nominate their articles for deletions. You were often advised about that by multiple experienced editors, and you basically ignored these suggestions every time, not even replying to talk page messages, the time would be ripe to change such an approach.
When I started editing WP, I received some guidance and some criticism, and I have treasured of both, as long as this is a collaboration project, you should do the same. You should ask yourself on why you have issues with so many editors on WP and work to solve them. The fact this time you have not ignored/deleted the talk page message and engaged in a discussion is already a little improvement by you in the right direction. Cavarrone 07:30, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As such because of our experiences and nothing to suggest there's anything better, that's also why I've repeatedly asked you to stay away and I hope this can actually happen thus I responded. SwisterTwister talk 07:33, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
WP:IDIDNTHEARTHAT response. I have to (sadly) retreat the comment above in which I said you were improving your approach, you apparently just do not care. And no, I will not avoid my very limited AfDs/prods interaction with you just because you don't like my arguments and don't accept any criticism. I never vote because of the nominator, I vote because of the specific article. Side note, I am pretty sure that virtually every time I voted in an AfD started by you to keep the article the article was eventually kept, so your request seems a bit a request of convenience. 09:40:07, 8 June 2016 review of submission by Jackie Partarrieu

Hi there. I am confused. You say that I did not use enough reliable sources (I cited NCBI, Lancet, Oxford Journals, the World Health Organisation, EORTC, ESMO, etc). Not sure where I can find more reliable/quality sources. You also said that there is not enough "significant coverage". We are talking about RARE cancers. That is the whole point. They are rare. Not many people care about them because they are "rare". Labs don't think there is enough money in them to make them profitable and interesting. Not enough research is done on them. Patients, children (all paediatric cancers are rare) are dying because of this. I was hoping a wikipedia article could add a little stone to the building of creating awareness of this not so rare, unfortunately, unmet health need. Can you please help me by explaining what more I can say and how I can go about it? I have mined Google to find more information but I think I have added all the quality sources I could find. Many thanks in advance for your guidance. Jackie

Request on 15:17:37, 9 June 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by Caerhys

Continuing the discussion under the This Week Newspaper header above, thanks, David, for your posting at my Caerhys talk page, which has answered my first question as to where best to respond to your Submission declined posting. Please bear with me, I'm still finding my way.

References [1] and [30] have been added to the Draft:This_Week_Newspaper article to underpin the newspaper's notability in that the National Library of Wales holds a collection of the newspaper's editions and issues, which it continues to build, together with copies of the 1999/ 2000 Reader Survey. The newspaper itself was a reliable source of information throughout its seventeen year lifetime but I'm not sure if that counts. It also falls within the scope of WikiProject Wales to build a comprehensive and detailed guide to authoritative articles on Wales, and articles on Wales in Wikipedia.

I've run through all the other references and note many of them are there to provide evidence of the newspaper's existence; of events that led to its success before new media gained ground, and Campaigns that resulted in significant outcomes. In reference [20] where a press release is used, this was to show how effective the newspaper had been in persuading visitors to abandon their cars and use public transport instead at their holiday destinations, to help reduce their carbon footprint in honeypot areas.

I trust we're edging closer to the golden rule, with further advice most welcome. --Caerhys (talk) 15:17, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) First things first, I changed your wikilink for WikiProject Wales so that it points into the Project namespace, which is where said page is located. I assume you won't mind, bit it's considered to polite to inform people that you've changed their comments even if it was trivial. The second thing is that notability guidelines are pretty strict about the type of coverage that's needed. The important part is getting significantly-sized articles in reliable sources. Looking at your references, it seems like a lot of them are primary sources, namely things published by the paper itself. This is fine for verifying basic information, but does not actually indicate the subject's notability, as notability itself is an assessment of how much something has been covered by reputable sources. Looking at your draft, it would seem you should find independent sources on the matter. –Compassionate727 (T·C) 22:49, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Compassionate727, no, I don't mind at all. I need all the help I can get right now and I'm grateful. Navigation's been testing; where best to say stuff so I don't lose the thread. For example, my last comment included the following para but it's disappeared. Possibly through my own making but I'll never know...

"Additional amounts of in-depth third-party news sources presents something of a challenge in that the newspaper itself by definition was a primary news source and apart from the BBC TV's 's coverage of the [ in 1989, reference [11], and their later coverage in 1990, reference [13], like the article on The Independent newspaper, a number of the references given are self-referencing and I would welcome your advice on this." Caerhys (talk) 08:17, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid I don't have any experience writing articles outside of WikiProject Military history, so I can't really help there. Sorry. My advice would be to ask at WikiProject Journals (and hope I pointed you to the right place, although I think I did). —Compassionate727 (T·C) 15:53, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

17:29:57, 9 June 2016 review of submission by Wymiller

Anne DeLong's comment concerning the fact that the band's mandolinist is employed by a newspaper contains no rationale supporting the conclusion she suggests that a conflict of interest could exist.

(talk page stalker) @Wymiller: First, it's worth noting that the comment you are talking about wasn't left by SwisterTwister, but by Anne Delong. That said, I can go ahead and answer your question for you. Anne Delong wasn't referring to a conflict of interest. She(?) was making the distinction between primary and other sources, as independent sources are what's used to establish notability. The comment was simply that the bands publication in the Colorado Springs Independent didn't really count as an independent source, because one of the members is affiliated with them. –Compassionate727 (T·C) 22:57, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response, whoever wrote it. Sorry, I just don't get it. My items included ten citations to authority, each of which is as legitimate as any other citation to authority. Compare this article to any other article concerning a similar regionally significant performing artist and please explain why Wiki includes that artist and excludes this one. Thank you. AfD !votes

Hello. I've seen you quite a lot around AfD and you do make some great article nominations, but I'm here for a different reason. I've been scrolling through quite a lot of AfDs to determine which ones can be relisted and to sort them into categories and I've come across a lot of your !votes, but your comments all have the same generic phrasing for a delete. Please don't take this criticism to heart but maybe you should slow down with your AfD !votes and look into the topics a bit further. I've come across topics today that you've voted delete consecutively within minutes whilst supposedly searching for sources. What I'm saying is that you ought to explore the topic in detail and when you conclude that there is no sources, then !vote delete. I'm saying this because of this AfD, which is an example where sources were found upon a 'quick search', as well as here and here. This AfD is an example where other avenues could've been explored rather than AfD. I admire your dedication to Wikipedia but please, please slow down. You could be !voting delete for something that is definitely salvageable. st170etalk 00:44, 10 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Hi SwisterTwister,

I respectfully disagree with your decision to decline this article and request a re-review. It has been built up by several authors independent of the subject over a long period of time. It meets the Golden Rule guidelines and the Guidelines for the Notability of Creative Professionals (filmmakers, etc.)

The Golden Rule: The subject indeed has significant coverage (multi-page editorials, not Q&A interviews) in reliable sources (NY Times, LA Times, LA Weekly, Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Filmmaker Magazine, IndieWire, the Museum of Modern Art, etc.) that are independent of the topic (of course, the periodicals previously mentioned aren't related to the subject of the article in any way).

Guidelines for the Notability of Creative Professionals:

    1) The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors.

The subject has been covered as one of the top 100 new filmmakers in a book published by Phaidon Press that was curated by major film festival programmers from around the world. The subject has also been nominated for an IFP Gotham Award. Also, included in the sources are interviews with other filmmakers who cite the work of the subject as an influence and something wholly original.

    2) The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory, or technique.

See the above respond to #1. The filmmaker is known for the originality of his work.

    3) The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the subject of an independent book or feature-length film or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews.

The subject created a work that was deemed significant by the NY Times, the Museum of Modern Art and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The work, "Loren Cass", has also been the one of the subjects of a book ("Take 100" published by Phaidon Press) and of multiple independent periodical articles and reviews. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.9.151.198 (talk) 02:26, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    4) The person's work (or works) either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums.

The subject's feature film, "Loren Cass", is known for its originality (a), was featured in an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC (b), has been named a NY Times Critic's Pick and received strong reviews in numerous mainstream publications (c), was nominated for an IFP Gotham Award (c), and is represented at the Museum of Modern Art along with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (d), linked below for verification.

    Deleted article restored

I am contacting you in connection with the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Two Sided Amphora 63.1515, in which you took part. I closed the discussion as "delete", but an editor has now contacted me, providing new sources. All but one of the sources are not available to me, so I cannot comment on their content, beyond the fact that they show that a larger number of scholarly works mention the amphora than was shown to be the case in the deletion discussion. However, I have obtained a copy of the other one of those sources, and I believe it significantly changes the situation from that which existed at the time of the AfD discussion. (It is available at http://www.jstor.org/stable/4171394 if you have JSTOR access.) Because I believe that this information significantly increases the amount of evidence of notability, I have recreated the article, but of course anyone who disagrees is free to take it back to AfD. I am informing everyone who took part in the discussion. The article is at Two-handled amphora (Boston 63.1515), having been moved from the original title given in the AfD page. Ineligible speedy nomination

Per Wikipedia:Deletion policy#Speedy deletion, “If a page has survived a prior deletion discussion, it must not be speedy deleted except for newly discovered copyright violations.” You nominated the page for G11, purely promotional, when it went through an AfD, which you probably didn't notice, last year: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SANS Institute. I know this is probably an edge case, but it never hurts to check the talk page to see if a previous AfD kept the page. As history shows, however, it could still use a good bit of maintenance, so you are formally invited to help add balancing content and tone down whatever you see as promotion. This is an entry to clarify information about the person behind a major political controversy which the entire South Korean nation knew and still knows about. It was in the headlines of major South Korean media for at least 5 days straight, and all of the news about this individual was the main topic of conversation among South Koreans for quite a long time. The topic has appeared on all major Korean shows and news outlets. Many Koreans still try to look up information about this individual because she recently reemerged into the spotlight via a series of interviews that she did about her work as an activist, writer, and an artist (the recent articles are also cited in the entry). The recent articles in question received thousands of likes on a major Korean news portal called "Daum" as well as other portals. Different articles that took from the original article also shared information about the individual through new articles that were created by different news outlets.

My reason for asking for this entry is that many people (both Korean and English-speakers) look up information about this individual because of the significant spotlight she has received starting from May 2014. You can even tell by typing in "candy koh" in a Google search bar, which tries to suggest that you complete the search by adding "law school" after the name.

Some people in forums have written false information about her. This wikipedia entry is necessary to correct any false information that has been spreading about her background, especially those that have been reported in the news already.

    Dear SwisterTwister,

thank you for your message and for reviewing my article. I am a bit puzzled. My intention is not to create an article on someone who is not notable but, on the other hand, create a page (probably a stub) on a living person who is notable because of its inherited position in the House. I was inspired by several other articles of heir apparents (not head of Houses!) which I found on Wikipedia and, to be honest, have same notability. Check these pages, for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Scott,_Earl_of_Dalkeith / https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander,_Hereditary_Prince_of_Hohenzollern

I can add information on the page and I think it deserves to be published, at least as a stub. There are many stubs in Wikipedia with much less notability. I think it is more useful to have the page rather than not. Informing is our goal.

    Thank you for your attention.

Hello SwisterTwister, I'm contacting you due to having to decline several of your G11 speedy deletion nominations. In two cases, there was a version of the article in history that was not spammy and could be reverted to, while in another case the article had already survived an AfD. Please take a bit more care and check for these things prior to nominating an article for deletion under G11, a nomination isn't appropriate in such cases. Hi, I have checked similar company website on Wikipedia (ie. Andrew Marc, Nautica) and they seem to have only a couple sources of reference on their page yet have been approved for a spot on Wikipedia. What kind of notable sources do you need or are looking for in order to receive approval of submission? I have already included a whole list of references and sources that support Rainforest’s notability as an outerwear apparel company. What do you suggest I do?

Thank you for reviewing the draft page TPConnects. TPConnects is one among the 48 companies accredited by International Air Transport Association (IATA) in their NDC registry which has been released last month. The companies mentioned over there are not just trivial mentionings. The same is accessible on http://www.iata.org/whatwedo/airline-distribution/ndc/Pages/registry.aspx. There are case studies by IATA https://www.iata.org/whatwedo/airline-distribution/ndc/Documents/ndc-case-study-rotana-jet.pdf where TPConnects was mentioned in detail under Role of Partners, independent articles like http://www.thebeat.travel/post/2016/06/03/No-GDSs-Or-TMCs-Are-NDC-Capable-Yet-Based-On-IATA-Certification.aspx, http://cdn.nowmedia.co.za/NowMedia/ebrochures/TNW/Standard/TNW-Issue-2373-28October2015.pdf, http://www.travelweekly.com/Travel-News/Travel-Technology/IATA-NDC-standard-gaining-acceptance-in-travel-industry and mentioned in detail in IATA year end NDC report https://www.iata.org/whatwedo/airline-distribution/ndc/Documents/2015-ndc-pilot-year-end-report.pdf. All these references independent notable references.

Central Solar Reserve Bank of Accompong

Thank for reviewing the Central Solar Reserve Bank of Accompong. We are trying to engage Wikipedia to the best of our ability and welcome any feedback. The Central Solar Reserve Bank of Accompong is an already active state institution which is now beginning to introduce itself internationally and will be fully operative before the year's end. We kindly request that you do not delete this article. It shall be regularly updated as the state establishes its international presence and the bank becomes active particularly in Africa.

Hi David! I looked at your profile, and I thought you might be able to help me out with a little more feedback. I know ecological restoration and onsite wastewater treatment aren't the center of the universe, but actually Biohabitats is very well-known as specialists in the field, which is growing rapidly and an important part of 21st century city planning and post-industrial development. I think I had more in the original submission about the firm's notoriety, but I took it out when it got dinged for sounding like an advertisement. So, for example, when north korea realized they had serious land use and degradation issues, they flew Biohabitats staff in for a consultation. (The staff had to sign a complete waiver for all bodily harm for the US government!) Stuff like that. It's not a big field, but Biohabitats is right on top of it. I know straight corporate pages aren't appropriate for Wikipedia without the notoriety criteria, but I think it's hard to show notoriety without sounding like bragging on the firm. Do you have any advice?

    Bud Pierce

    Hi,

Curious as to see why this hasn't been approved, it seems every moderator has a different threshold for approval.

I understand that Pierce hasn't been elected to the office yet, but there are others such as his primary opponent, Allen Alley, that have a wiki page but haven't even made it this far in a governor's election. How much sourcing do I need to get to meet this alternative criteria for politicians "Just being an elected local official, or an unelected candidate for political office, does not guarantee notability, although such people can still be notable if they meet the primary notability criterion of "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article"."?

I am happy to put in every known newspaper article about the guy and his campaign, but it seems excessive to repeat the same points over and over again with new sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Black Dogg1169 (talkcontribs) 17:23, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Walter Noetico article

    Dear David,

I am a collaborator of Richard F Morris, who had been working for the past month on the article about the Artist, Walter Noetico. I thank you for your time in reviewing the page of Maestro Noetico. Sadly, I think that on your part there has been a hasty judgment and decision in considering this Artist, because it is fair that I let you know that Maestro Noetico does not desire to sell his work, even to the most important museums in the world, but this does not necessarily make him a less important artist. Quite on the contrary, it makes him more deserving.

The reason for this is that Noetico wishes to donate all of the works in his possession (circa 250 artworks) to the American Nation, and for this reason he is already in contact with philanthropist David Rockefeller Jr.

Maestro Noetico despises the mercantile speculation that is done to art and artists, and it’s incomprehensible why a serious encyclopedia, like Wikipedia, requires that the artists “sell” and great museums “buy”, in order to insert the artists into Wikipedia.

It really seems a contradiction, considering that Wikipedia is against those who want to be added to it, in order to make promotional speculation.

I think (and you, David, who appreciates the wisdom, I hope you will share my thoughts) that Wikipedia should have some different rules, to assess the artists, standards that have always been considered primary in art history.

Until not long ago, an artist was considered to be of value only if he had the support of either a philosopher, a humanist scholar, an art historian or an art critic of high reputation/value. Only these writers could historically decide on an artist's aesthetic validity.

Now, it must be considered that Walter Noetico has had the support of even four major writers and art critics known internationally as: Alexandre Cirici, being the critic who has made great Picasso and Mirò, and perhaps he did not manage to make great also Noetico, simply because he died prematurely. And only having in hand his presentation is already a title of merit and credit (which Maestro Noetico has).

Then: Gillo Dorfles - another great critic respected all over the world (and still alive, at 106), then the writer and art critic Raffaele De Grada, who was for many years the curator of the Venice Biennale, which - as you know - is the biggest art event of the world. Then, also the philosopher Silvio Ceccato.

It should also be considered that no more than 30 years ago, it was sufficient to have only one of those mentioned art critics, in order to make an artist of value and consequently encyclopaedic.

I truly hope you will agree in thinking that the value of an artist is not measured by assessing his market quotations, but it is measured by assessing his aesthetic value and cultural message – it is those values that enriche the Human Race. The things that one buys and sells, only form part of a market, and a mercenary speculation. But the true, real Art belongs only to the Spiritual sphere.

For these motives, I humbly ask you to reconsider your decision about the artist Noetico, in order to honor the diffusion of Art and Culture.

Thank you kindly, David. Jeremy --Jermy Alterman (talk) 21:45, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Paul Soulellis

Hello and thank you for reviewing the new page Paul Soulellis and raising the important issue of notability.
Soulellis is a notable artist in the field of artist's books, and his medium is the printed page. The highest honor for book artists is to be collected by special artists' books collections at major museums and universities worldwide. Several such institutions collect the work of Soulellis.
Two edits have been made to the page to better demonstrate his notability.
First, a list of some of the institutions who collect his artists' books has been added. Please note that this list includes the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, one of the most significant museums in the world. Also added are Yale University and the Walker Art Center and several other important institutions.
Second, a list of art exhibitions that featured the work of Soulellis during the last three years has now been added to the article. This was originally left out to keep the article shorter but I believe it should now be added to demonstrate his notability. Please note that this list includes the Museum of Modern Art in NYC and the Gagosian Gallery, one of the most significant private commercial galleries in the world.
I hope these additions help demonstrate the notability of this artist.
    Thank you,

Reviewer LaMona said my previous draft was overstuffed, and I am afraid that much of my subject's work is ultra-technical and way over the heads of most people who are not in graduate programs in neuroscience or hearing, so I didn't want to get super deep (nor was I able to understand much more). As a new WP member, and apparently still a grade-hunter even years after school, I would like to make my articles as highly rated as possible. Thank you for any additional insight. Footballers

    Hi SwisterTwister,

I'm going through the new pages feed, and I keep seeing articles about footballers that just say their name, position and club. They're theoretically notable as per Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Notability, but if there is no actual information on the page, isn't it correct to just redirect them to their club's page? Or is that a losing battle? --Slashme (talk) 18:28, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Slashme, with my years of experience at NPP, the footballers are in fact notable themselves if they have played for a notable league, yes. SwisterTwister talk 18:36, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. I'll just mark them as "reviewed" and move on then, as long as they have at least one reference. --Slashme (talk) 18:41, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    JD Busfield Article

Thank you for taking the time to review the article. Your rejection based on lack of notability because of a professional baseball player's minor league status appears to be contradicted by existing articles such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Boldt_(baseball). If you would like, I can compile a larger list of examples where professional baseball players are considered notable based on their minor league status alone. Please let me know. 108.71.78.101 (talk) 19:03, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

108.71.78.101 It was because it seems he was only selected for the Tampa Bay Rays Draft, and perhaps not for the actual permanent team especially because he's only playing for the minor team Hudson Valley Renegades (there's no notability from playing with the Renegades). SwisterTwister talk 19:19, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for responding. If you will review the existing article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Boldt_(baseball) you will see that Ryan Boldt is currently playing on the Hudson Valley Renegades and is in fact a teammate of JD Busfield. It does, therefore, appear that playing with the Renegades provides enough notability to allow https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Boldt_(baseball) to be an accepted article. The same acceptance criteria should therefore be applied to the JD Busfield article. 108.71.78.101 (talk) 20:04, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally please refer to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York%E2%80%93Penn_League_rosters. The players with wikipedia links on this page all play at the same minor league level as the Renegades. Specifically under the Hudson Renegades you will find https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Travis_Ott and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garrett_Whitley_(baseball) in addition to the Ryan Boldt article listed above. The https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York%E2%80%93Penn_League_rosters article links to many, many players whose notability is purely based on their minor league status within a professional baseball organization. The JD Busfield article contains the same design and notability as these numerous examples. 108.71.78.101 (talk) 00:03, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    LunaTunes5 (talk) 04:46, 9 July 2016 (UTC) Hey SwisterTwister-[reply]

Thanks for reviewing my page for Craig Donohue. So, I based this page off the basis that Robert Greifeld, Duncan Niederauer Terrence Duffy and Tom Farley have Wikipedia pages-- Greifeld being the CEO of Nasdaq (an exchange with OCC), Niederuaer being the CEO of NYSE until 2014, Terrence Duffy as the Executive Chairman and President of CME Group and Tom Farley being President of NYSE (Board member of/exchange with OCC). Donohue was the CEO of CME Group and led the development and completion of CME's merger with the Chicago Board of Trade and the acquistion of the New York Mercantile Exchange and the Commodity Exchange Inc. Ah, this was huge for the financial industry! It resulted in over $20 billion in mergers and acquistions. Donohue is now the Executive Chairman of OCC, which was designated a Systemically Important Financial Market Utility and advocates on behalf of the listed options industry while ensuring that the obligations of the contracts it clears are fulfilled to essentially be the foundation for secure markets by acting as guarantor. CME and OCC are both SIFMUs, meaning their failure could threaten the US economy, so the heads of these SIFMUs should be easy to search on Google for more information (in my opinion).

Thanks, looking forward to your feedback.

    Cheers, Luna

    CS Afumati

It's not true, a football team gets professional when promoted to Liga III. Are a lot of teams from Liga II and Liga III that have pages on wikipedia and was not any problem ever, it's a football team, not a football player! The rule with at least one match at Liga I is for players!

Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal (Professional Football League) is a Romanian governing body that runs the Liga I, the top professional division of the Romanian football league system, and the Cupa Ligii, Romania's secondary club football tournament. But Liga II, III and Cupa Romaniei are organized by FRF, you can't tell me, or anyone that these are not professional, only because are all organized by FRF and not by their LPF's. For example, the winner of Cupa Romaniei is qualified for Europa League, so if this is not professional, how can the club participate in an UEFA competition? Liga II and Liga III clubs have also professional contracts with their players. When a club promoted from Liga IV to Liga III is affiliated to FRF, so, yes you can say that a Liga IV club is an amateur one, but not a Liga III and the less a Liga II one.

    The Most Important

A football club it does not have to be professional to have a wikipedia page, are amateur clubs that have pages so I don't see why is a problem for a professional or a semi-professional club?

Ex: Whitehaven A.F.C., Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateur F.C., Ormond Amateur Football Club and these are fully amateur, CS Afumati is professional in my opinion, if you insist with the LPF thing, in the worst case I can say that is semi-professional. But I don't believe that, because all the FRF rules are made for a professional level.

Also Liga II have a governing body that is named LPF 2, but is not official.

    Hi there,

I am a bit confused about your reason for deletion

"Still questionable for the authors notability considering WorldCat only lists 340 libraries, 25 of them is for 1 book widely held at libraries."

Does this refer to his novels, which are crime noir novels. Also he was the main news reader for the main French news TV show for 20 years. That should be notability by itself.

    Walter Noetico, Artist

Dear David /SwisterTwister, I believe my colleague, Jeremy Alterman, wrote to you on 7 July. I have now added the reference to one of the works that are being in a Collection of Pala Graziussi Museum in Venice (what I had managed to find for now). In the 1980 book "Indimensional Art", there are references to certain number of works that have been sent back in the late 1970s, to Kunst Museum, Wallraf Richart Museum, Ermitage, Tate Gallery, Getty Collection, Museum of Modern Art in New York and Kuunz Collection in Vienna (all of which are very old archives and cannot be seen on the web, but details of which are mentioned in the penultimate pages of this book). I am not sure what else you wish me to do. As Jeremy Alterman said in his note to you of 7 July, Maestro Noetico since the 1970s, never wished to sell his work to any museum, but has always been mindful to leave all his artworks to American Nation, which he has already discussed with David Rockefeller Jr in correspondence with him. I shall submit again my draft, having also made some grammar improvements etc, and hope that you could exercise your discretion. Many thanks for your kind attention, David. There was also a photo of a fan that had taken a photograph with him. I put a photo of him that I found from the NFLPA Facebook page at the Philadelphia Regional Former Players Conference in 2015. Maybe because it was over 10 years ago that I can't find anything else?

    • Ms. Shahnaz played a pivotal part at Nobel Peace Prize-winning Grameen bank

    Premature WP:G13 nominations

I have declined several of your speedy deletion nominations under WP:G13 (e.g. Draft:Furquan Moharkan, Draft:Gyanu Basnet, Draft:Christopher Buchanan Shay, Draft:Nick Podehl, etc.) because the six-month mark of no edits to qualify for WP:G13 deletion has not yet transpired. Please wait until articles have not been edited for six months before nominating them for G13 deletion, because this creates unnecessary work for administrators in having to review your nominations and then decline them per the inherent inaccuracies in them. Thanks. North America1000 06:34, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, Northamerica1000, I'm not entirely comfortable with how you seem to follow me too closely recently, especially to simply remove my deletion attempts. The last edits prior to these nominations was 30 January 2016. 30 January 2016 to 11 July 2016 ≠ six months. You're about 20 days too early. Please view the actual dates, rather than just the months, in article revision histories. I have declined some of your proposed deletions when the rationales are faulty, such as these. Wealth Beyond Wall Street Suggested Deletion

Hey User:SwisterTwister I added this business "Wealth Beyond Wall Street" because of two things really:

    1. The search "Wealth Beyond Wall Street" (And other longer tail searches combined with Free book etc) are searched 1800-2000 times more or less in Google every month.

    2. The reason it is searched so much is, because this business is all over the radio, tv and other media (Not so much online mostly they are very "physical" sending postcards even from what I have heard from different people) this is happening all over the country it seems and people are interested in learning more about this company because of the economic times we live in.

    Hence the high search volume.

I added into wikipedia so there is a neutral place for people to get information on the company because from what I see most reviews and such that are out there are mostly affiliates of theirs and this would be the one place that could be truly independent. Hopefully it won't get deleted. Clifffonte (talk) 07:37, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If they are not notable, then SF Site (2 references, Alexa 368,615); Odyssey Magazine (2 references; Alexa 9,665,835); and The Flea (3 references, Alexa 24,456,546), will all have notability issues in terms of lack of references (and perhaps audience). I do understand if this is just a normal organisation, then more references are required. But as they are also a publishing house, do you agree that the references that are there are sufficient for now? Thank you for your feedback. — SMasters (talk) 09:04, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Forever After (Paradise Lost song)

Hi, I noticed that you have deleted the aforementioned article. You write, "Still nothing suggestive of its own notability." I'm quite confused about this whole procedure. Did the article receive an earlier warning that it has to improved or risk deletion? Why such hurry to delete it? It's not that a single from a notable music band is necessarily so hopelessly obscure that there's no way it has its place on Wikipedia. Tiv kurss (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 09:36, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) @Tiv kurss: Most songs are not notable. A song needs significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources to demonstrate notability. Songs should only have an individual article when there is enough material to warrant a detailed article.{{R from song}} This version does not demonstrate that the song warrants an article. — JJMC89(T·C) 16:33, 11 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation! Got it. I just wonder how many of, say, these songs do deserve their own articles. A quick examination shows that a fair share of these articles do not contain much information about their notability. What is the criteria based on which some articles get to stay while others are deleted in a hurry, then? Tiv kurss (talk) 14:11, 13 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Blue Label Records

Hello SwisterTwister. Hi, SwisterTwister. Normally I would not ask for priority or rushed assistance, but I received three talk page notifications informing me that the three images I've proposed adding to Harry Jackson (artist) will be deleted in a few days if they are not added to the article before then. Might you be willing to respond to the edit request I posted at Talk:Harry Jackson (artist) before these images are deleted? Thank you for your consideration. I really respect the reviewer's point of view! In most cases young companies risk closing down. However, I have seen plenty of companies, which are younger than ScholarshipOwl get featured. Case in point - GoodCall. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GoodCall. ScholarshipOwl had plenty of media mentions including ABC Televised interview and TechCrunch article. I would appreciate if you could please give a second look. Thanks!

    Thoughts?

I PROD-tagged this article and it was de-prodded. Wondering if it is AfD material (see talk page discussion). I think this guy is non-notable and self-published, but he has some minor notoriety. I think AfD is appropriate, but I really don't have a lot of energy for yet more AfD drama, so thought I'd get your take first. Here's the article: Chuck Tingle. Request on 13:59:52, 15 July 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by Kfidler0823

Not necessarily requesting a re-review as none of the information has not changed, just trying to get some clarity on what criteria he doesn't meet in terms of the notability. I found dozens upon dozen of articles and radio interviews on Michael Drapac during my research, most of which were from major (and reliable) Australian and US newspapers. Many of the articles are solely about him and don't mention him as an "after-thought" or in a "trivial" way. All of the sources that were provided were secondary sources and written by people who have zero connection with him other than interviewing him for an article. He owns Australia's only Professional Cycling team and was just named co-owner of the Cannondale-Drapac Pro Cycling team, which is currently racing in the Tour de France (how I came to know about him and start researching him in the first place - huge Cannondale fan here).

Going through all of the General Notability Guidelines, I just don't see what criteria he doesn't meet. While I only provided 14 or so references (that's all I needed to build the article), there are dozens more articles about his company, cycling teams, and successes in investment/real estate and cycling.

Any further information you can provide to clarify why he doesn't meet the Notability Guidelines would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.

Greetings. From your comment after the review of the page you mentioned a lack of credible news sources for the reason why the article was rejected. I would like to know what you mean by credible news sources, because most of the sites from which my references were taken have been online delivering news and information for at least four years. And some wiki editors took down some of the references i put up while the article was pending review. So what do i need to do? add more references? and what kind of sources do you consider credible. i have looked at other articles here and the references are as good as mine. so please clarify me. thank you for your time Ndinge (talk) 22:21, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    AfC accept criteria

Sir, based on some Wikipedia:WikiProject_Articles_for_creation/Help_desk requests I have just looked at Draft:Godfrey_Sullivan and Draft:Laura_Boushnak both of which you recently rejected on notability grounds. To my eye, in both cases, there does appear to be very adequate cited coverage to establish notability. I know that you and I are unlikely to agree on marginal cases but these do not appear to be marginal. I hope you would not consider nominating either of these for deletion. Even if you would, would you gauge that they had a less than 50% chance of being kept? ~Kvng (talk) 23:33, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, Innisfree987 here--I wanted to give you a head's up that I reverted your redirect on Meredith Graves. Oneilius

I received notice regarding the potential deletion of Lace International Ltd because "Searches found nothing at all to suggest anything or enough for independent notability for its own article; nothing else convincing". Previously, one of this company's subsidiaries, Lace Mamba Global, had an article which was deleted on grounds that it was written in an advertising style. The grounds for deleting the previous article were not that there was insufficient "notability for its own article". Please clarify what qualifies for such notability. Also, "nothing else convincing" means what exactly? I would like to comply with Wikipedia's standards, but this message is vague and doesn't explain what is needed of a qualifying article. Noting that "you can address this concern by improving, copyediting, sourcing, renaming, or merging the page, please edit this page and do so" merely indicates that editing might help. It does not specify what qualifies or is needed in terms of additions or edits.

Notability in Knight's Cross Holder articles

Hi, since you participated in an AfD discussion that involved this topic, I'm letting you know that I started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Notability (people)#Notability in Knight's Cross Holder Articles -- to see if the issue can be dealt on a systemic basis, rather than one off AfDs.

    Kyle T. Leighton

Respectfully, the subject Draft:Kyle T. Leighton (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) is a professor, author, and notable electrical industry leader as described by Siena Heights University, and the National Association of Electrical Distributors (the governing body of the electrical industry), among other sources. The subject designed an initiative about energy efficient lighting that was adopted by an entire U.S. State. He has also published at least 13 studies nationally and internationally about lighting applications in 7 different publications, and has widely distributed work independent of those pieces by other universities such as University of California, Davis about lighting laws and lighting education. Articles about his work and career have appeared in at least 8 other different reliable sources referenced in the article. He received an international award for a video that explained lighting technology. He received 2 additional awards from 2 notable institutions (1 university) about his research and commitment to lighting technology. All of these facts including the subject are about the same thing: lighting science. Criterion #7 for WP:Academic is described as a "person to have made a substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity" and isn't defined as a single event. Other criterion of WP:Academic like #2 are in place for what you’re implying. All of the subject’s awards and facts count towards criterion 7 because criterion 7 is a criterion that has been met with totality, or in other words, “substantial”. While the interpretation of notability is broad, everyone should be able to agree that every notable impact or notable act could be recorded differently as each WP:Academic would likely be unique. It does not mean that the subject is not a notable lighting academic because someone may not be familiar with the subject or science. Evidence, and notable institutions clearly indicate that the subject is. GNG and WP:ANYBIO #2 also applies here. Looking forward to your response.Sciencegirl5858 (talk) 16:47, 25 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sciencegirl15858, let me help out here, as WP:PROF is sort of my specialty. I don't think that guideline applies to him at all. An adjunct professor is not a professor in the usual sense, he's a person teaching a course or two in a university part-time, either as a beginner, or, in this case, as someone from an outside profession or industry. In his linked bio , he is described not as a scientist or engineer, but as a professional public relations executive,"Lauded as one of the top PR professionals in the nationwide electrical industry, he has now represented 6 energy efficient commercial brands." He did not do the studies described in the article, he wrote the press releases and articles in trade magazines. His profile in tedmagazine says "Leighton has by-lined or ghost-written several articles for industry publications". Your article is carefully ambiguous about all this, and it would not have been clear if I had not actually read the references. Your statement here, is an attempt to disguise the facts of his career in the hopes of getting an article. In my opinion this is not good faith editing.
Furthermore, your user history shows you have written nothing else, yet you are familiar with the details of our rules, familiar enough find a guideline which you can use inappropriately in an attempt to justify your article. I remind you or our policy about WP:Sockpuppettry. I also remind you of our guidelines on WP:Conflict of Interest, and our Terms of Use, particularly with respect to paid contributions without disclosure. 22:04:48, 28 July 2016 review of submission by Innisfree987

Hi SwisterTwister. I'd like to touch base about the AfC draft I submitted a few weeks ago for Rembert Browne. Since you advised against resubmitting, I haven't done so; however, I have added 14 more secondary sources to the entry, as the press continues to take note of a wide variety of Browne's writing and appearances. Consequently I believe the entry would meet the consensus for notability at AfD (per AfC reviewing instructions)--and perhaps even more importantly, I believe it also meets the criteria for WP:WHYN, that we have a large, diverse selection of reliable sources necessary to ensure we're offering readers a balanced perspective on the subject.

Still I wanted to check with you before resubmitting because if you really believe it would only waste time for me to resubmit, I'll hold off: I don't want to create unconstructive work for anyone. I only ask because, even as I realize you and I might draw the line somewhat differently on borderline cases, it really is my impression this entry is one that the present community consensus would accept. Thanks in advance for your consideration and guidance. Innisfree987 (talk) 22:04, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Recreated article about Jason Binn

In August last year you took the article Jason Binn to AfD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jason Binn. The article was duly deleted. Since then it has twice been re-created and re-deleted under CSD G4 (Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion). Just over a month ago, the editor who had created the latest version posted to my talk page, objecting to the deletion, and expressing the wish to discuss it. It seems to me that the body of the article is substantially similar to the one discussed at AfD, but there are far more references, which is likely to be used as grounds for objecting to a G4 deletion. I therefore restored the article, but I am far from convinced that the new article answers the objections raised at AfD, so I am telling you in case you would like to take it to a second AfD.

Since I restored the article, the editor in question has made no attempt to initiate the discussion he said he wanted, and his only edit related to the article has been adding a photograph to it. In my opinion, the article does no more to show notability than the one discussed at AfD. It has been bombarded with large numbers of references to give the superficial impression that it is well sourced, as often happens with recreations of articles deleted for lack of evidence of notability, but most of the references do nothing or very little to indicate notability. I checked a more or less random sample of eight of the 28 references in the article. To give you an idea of the quality of the references, those eight were: one dead link; two pages not mentioning Jason Binn (one of them refers to a farm owned by "Moreton Binn", who apparently is Jason Binn's father, the other does not mention "Binn" at all); the personal page about Jason Binn on the web site of DuJour, of which he is the CEO; a page at www.etonline.com, where the only mention of Binn is a credit for a photograph on the page that he took; an announcement of launch of magazine, merely including Binn's name in a list of the owners of the magazine (and also the webstite where the announcement is made is "www.adweek.com", which may be an indication of how independent a source it is); a mere announcement of an appointment of Binn to a post; and a page about him on a website which claims to deal with "an increasingly complex marketplace" which "heightens the need for information and competitive intelligence", which to me reads very much like marketing speak for saying they provide PR. I was hoping to get some additional feedback regarding the Wikipedia entry for Peter Johnson. The entry was denied due to a lack of notability. Mr. Johnson was notoriously press-shy, preferring that the focus remained on his clients. As such, there are not an overwhelming number of articles about him. However, Johnson did represent the #1 athlete in five different sports over the course of his career (football, men's tennis, women's tennis, women's golf and boxing). The Sports Business Journal, a leading source on sports business, named Mr. Johnson the most influential agent in all of sports in 2004. Of the other nineteen sports agents who finished below Mr. Johnson that year in the agent rankings, twelve of them have individual Wikipedia entries. Multiple agents who reported to Mr. Johnson during his time at IMG have Wikipedia entries, including Tom Condon, Pat Brisson, Casey Close and Jeff Schwartz.

It is my understand that when articles such as annual "Most Powerful in Sports" list were written, Mr. Johnson asked publications to highlight agents that worked for him instead and recused himself. Given these limitations, would you be able to provide some assistance as to how I can augment Peter Johnson's entry to meet Wikipedia's notability requirements?

With all due respect, your comment/rationale is completely arbitrary. You even use the work "seems" in your response. I would like to bring in an independent editor to help mediate our discussion.

    Hello:

I am writing because you have blocked publication of a submission to Wikipedia. Please tell me how Wikipedia published, for example, the item https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Molly, which contains substantially less information, and substantially less citation, concerning a group of musical performers, than the article that I submitted. Thank you very much

Hello, I'm writing because as of today you put a tag on the article about Glenn S. Lipson saying the page should be deleted. He is the director at Alliant University for the forensic psychologist dept. I placed that under Notable Alumni for Alliant University as well as what he works on that they put out as Alliant Spotlights and wrote a whole summary of what he does and what he researches. I also connected under Alliant his listing as the department head and his interests and research. Each of the books listed that he contributed are text books. He writes a lot of chapters in text books that are used nationally in other universities. Any specific suggestions you can make as to showing all of this without using the PR release by Alliant University under their "spotlights" would be greatly appreciated.

I was about to begin helping with other waiting psychologists pages waiting for help that needed to be added to Wikipidia but obviously I need to learn more of what is required first. It was suggesting I not use links to his research papers because they weren't in text books and he did have chapters in multiple text books used today.

I' cross posting this on the talk page for my user page so I can get other help if you are busy this weekend.

    Many thanks.

proposed that this article be deleted of Glenn S. Lipson - GoogleScholar listing no citations

On the article talk page I listed 6 listings for Dr. Lipson under GoogleScholar, I outlined it there in detail, would you like me to put it here as well?

I can also replace the NY Times article with a much longer one I verified again today from the the Des Moines Register paid archives that listed almost all of Dr. Lipson testimony in the defense case of Stephen Blumberg, since that is a paid archive site of newspapers.com can I substitute that for the the othee NY Times artcle.

I really appreciate your help and input

I also listed on Dr. Lipson's talk page the listings and concerns and what I found on World Cat as well as Google Scholar and I hope when you read it I have appropriately addressed your concerns with both categories of WP:AUTHOR and WP:PROF.

Can the two of us working together come to a consensus his article can be fixed to meet your concerns?

Thanks again for all of your great help

"Permanently collected by major art museums" is not the only means for accepting worthiness or notoriety. I would view that a contribution in one of the most prestigious fashion magazines, at least for a photographer, is also a veritable claim. Chris Floyd, another British photographer has indeed managed to get a page (well one line) in Wikipedia based it seems mainly on a contribution in the Guardian and an exhibition. His notoriety may just come from the photography of famous people but gives no concept of quality (his photos are actually not bad in my view but certainly not exceptional). I am not really sure that the criteria for a photographer´s entrance into Wikipedia is really associated with a permanent presence in a museum or similar. Hi there - we exchanged messages earlier today - Sunday Australia time - about Pamela Schulz's entry. I've done some further research and found the following notability guideline for academics, on the Wikipedia:Notability (academics) page: "2. The person has received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level." As the recipient of an OAM - listed here on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_Australia, Pamela Schulz has indeed been awarded an 'honour at national or international level'. I will revisit the page now to attempt to address your concern about 'advert-like' language, but otherwise, according to Wikipedia's own guidelines, it appears that Pamela Schulz is notable. I will resubmit for review shortly. Thank you for your feedback.

Hello, I am confused why having art in a major museum is a requirement for this article when there is no suggestion of the same for other artists. Under the following pages I see no mention of having works in permanent museum collections: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sama_Raena_Alshaibi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahmad_Kanan

Abdul Rahman Katanani's work has been displayed in major art exhibitions in countries around the world, and is frequently sold in Christie's art auctions. Why is this not enough to add to wikipedia?

Musicwithoutlyrics See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, I can easily deleted those others myself, especially if they were unreviewed (at least yours is currently being reviewed). The permanent collections would've been the best shot at accepting, because a lot of artists can be exhibited, but only a certain number can be permanently collected thus notability. I removed the CSD tag. In this case, a CSD isn't really appropriate since it has already cleared a previous AFD. More importantly, the second AFD is almost over and it surely will be deleted. This empowers admin if someone recreates it, whereas an article deleted for CSD really doesn't. They can force a prior AFD to DRV, where a CSD deleted article can simply be recreated as long as it is "different". AFD is stronger and the best option for spam articles like this. It takes longer but we have plenty of time. Farmer Brown (talk) 23:27, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rapidly and neatly withdrawn: thank you!

I suspect that there's a problem with the first sentence. Imagine that we had an article on "Pablo Ruiz y Picasso" (really!) that started:

Pablo Ruiz y Picasso also known as Pablo Picasso (/pɪˈkɑːsoʊ, -ˈkæsoʊ/; Spanish: [ˈpaβlo piˈkaso]; 1881–1973) to a Spanish father and Genovese mother.

It would be as unenticing as one of the many articles on nobodies who happen to be twentieth or fortieth in line to the British throne.... Hoary (talk) 00:17, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your speedy deletion proposal was opposed, so why did you delete it anyway, replacing with a redirect? Seems a bit extreme. Surely there is a topic worth rescuing here, as they are a very notable firm in the color calibration and photography business, and makers of the famous Gretag Macbeth ColorChecker (shown in that article in my hands, by the way). Hi, good news! I actually found a piece of his that is in a permanent collection in a museum :)

http://www.mathaf.org.qa/en/collections then to see the piece in the collection via google arts & culture: https://www.google.com/culturalinstitute/beta/u/0/asset/with-her-nephew-ahmad/VwGBvFT67ZnBNw

Now how/where should I add it? Do I need to create a new section or should I just mention it under an existing section?

Thanks for your help, by the way! :) (comment by User:Kfidler0823)

Following Up on 15 July 2016 Question - Michael Drapac

Just following up on my previous question on 15 July 2016 about why the page about Michael Drapac was not approved and what criteria he doesn't meet in terms of notability. More than a dozen reliable sources were provided (although there are hundreds of articles about him, I only used about 14 to write the submission). He owns two major professional cycling teams and created a multi-million investment firm that accurately predicted several international economic trends (well-documented) over the last 20 years. His developments in Australia have won several awards for sustainability and one has even been deemed "the most sustainable project ever built."

I've gone through Wikipedia's notability guidelines and just don't see how he doesn't fulfill them. I would really appreciate if you could please take a moment to address my inquiry and provide my some insight.

    categorization of AfD

I just noticed an article for deletion page that you created on a car dealership had shown up in the biography section. B is for biography. When you are nomination an article on a business for deletion, you would probably want to use O, for organization (in full organization, group or product).John Pack Lambert (talk) 20:22, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    King Myers was previously prodded

I guess you missed it in the history, but King Myers was previously prodded and deprodded. Deletion will have to go through AfD. —C.Fred (talk) 20:51, 1 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PROD removed from Hazeldine (and please stop!)

I have removed your PROD from this article, and as your standard next step is to take an article to AfD I'll explain where you went wrong. You stated in your deletion rationale "Searches have noticeably found nothing actually suggestive of the needed substance and there's essentially nothing else better." Aside from this not really making any sense, if you had performed a competent Google search you would have found coverage from:

and likely more. That's plenty of coverage from good sources from multiple countries. If you were aware of the relevant guideline for notability (WP:NMUSIC) you would know that the band's album releases on Polydor and Glitterhouse are in themselves enough to indicate notability. PROD is solely for articles that are uncontroversial deletion candidates. Many of the articles you have prodded recently are nowhere near to being suitable for prod, and had you performed a competent web search you would be aware that neither are they good deletion candidates at AfD. Until you are better able to judge notability, please stop nominating articles for deletion. Thanks. --Michig (talk) 06:47, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
