User:Candlelightship seems to be a spammer adding links to a single preprint article to multiple topic articles. I've added a request for clarification on the talk page, but it would be nice if someone more experienced could help here. PeepleLikeYou (talk) 04:25, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Seems to be promoting William Nicholas Gomes / William Gomes by using non-significant or barely-related information as a way to add his name to articles. Totapakhi doesn't seem to be active anymore this year, but the IP is making similar edits (I left a warning on the IP's page). User:Wpkidsrewa is making additions of the link kidsfitnessexercise.com, so the user name appears to be illegal as it matches the name of the business.

The user has so far tried adding the link to List of asanas and Yoga as exercise. I have reverted these and given advertising warnings, but I think the account should be blocked as single-purpose, advertising, and named for the business.

Undetected userspace spam: a huge problem?

Hi! For a while now, I've been tagging old spam pages in userspace, sometimes up to a decade old. (See: my CSD log) What I've discovered is that often when promotional accounts are banned, their userpages aren't deleted, leading spam to stay on the encyclopedia for years, even decades undetected. It also seems that what tends to happen with userspace spam is that it isn't found within like, a week of it being posted, it often never is. I think that I'm only scratching the surface of this issue with the pages I've found, there could be thousands of these undetected pages. I've just been finding these pages through Wikipedia's internal search function. I'm not really sure what can be done to prevent this from happening. TheAwesomeHwyh, alternatively, you can ask for the right to edit AbuseFilters, I think you can show good reason to read the logs and help in these filters (even if you don't want to edit them yourself), and I don't expect you to abuse the right to see how to avoid the abusefilters.
