Request for comment on Biographies of living people[edit]

Hello Wikiproject! Currently there is a discussion which will decide whether wikipedia will delete 49,000 articles about a living person without references, here:

Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people

Since biographies of living people covers so many topics, nearly all wikiproject topics will be effected.

The two opposing positions which have the most support is:

  1. supports the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, User:Jehochman
  2. opposes the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, except in limited circumstances, User:Collect

Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that by default, editor's comments are hidden. Simply press edit next to the section to add your comment.

Please keep in mind that at this point, it seems that editors support deleting unreferenced article if they are not sourced, so your project may want to pursue the projects below.

Looking for reviewers for GGPoker draft page[edit]

Hi, I've just submitted a new draft page for GGPoker at Articles for Creation and I'm looking for editors to help review. Since editors here are likely familiar with the brand, I figured this would be a good place to start. Would anyone be willing to take a look? I have a financial conflict of interest (I'm an employee of NSUSLab, GGPoker's platform developer), which is why I'm submitting the draft via AfC and looking for impartial reviewers. User:Officially Mr X and User talk:Compy90, I spotted your usernames on various WSOP page histories and it looks like you're active in this area but maybe not part of this project. Would either of you be open to looking at the draft? Thanks! Chris H (GGPoker) (talk) 13:48, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Project-independent quality assessments[edit]

Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present. Poker players by nationality criterion[edit]

Is it based on nationality or where they are based? Is David Steicke really a Chinese poker player simply because he's based in Hong Kong? Clarityfiend (talk) 11:16, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I have nominated Category:High-stakes poker players for deletion. Clarityfiend (talk) 11:32, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Circuit ring holdings in infobox poker player[edit]

I'm not sure if this has been discussed prior but what about enabling a field in the infobox poker player representing a player's success on the circuit tour i.e the person's circuit rings in holding. A ring is almost as valued as a bracelet and quite the many players inherit both rings and bracelets.

Although it would be a little silly on for example Phil Hellmuth's article with 17 bracelets, and in the next row none rings, but this wouldn't be a problem as you can choose the parameters of use when implementing the infobox in an article.
