I've just created and populated Category:German footballers needing infoboxes. There are around 130 articles on footballers (either German or have played in Germany) that currently lack an infobox. I was hoping to chip away at the category, if anyone would like to join in it would make the process faster! Only takes a couple minutes per infobox, quite a few of the articles are stubs on older players, so an infobox would be nice to add a bit more context about the person. Racist discrimination in China against German and other UEFA players[edit]

This is a serious development in China currently. Half the players must be Chinese youngsters over foreigners; this rule is only in China, right? It is discrimination against foreigners, right? They say it's good for the young players, but it's not fair against these poor foreign players because they cannot speak the language and they have difficult life adjusting to the cultural differences and so we must help them, yes?

Due to a disproportionately high number of foreigners playing football in China, and a lack of "youthful" Chinese players, new rules were established over the '17/'18 newyear to require an equal or greater number of Chinese youngsters to foreigners on the pitch during gameplay. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.53.189.18 (talk) 18:44, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool[edit]

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Prefixes: BSG, SC, 1. FC, etc.[edit]

I understand that 1. FC Union Berlin is often called only "Union Berlin" outside Germany, while you will probably never see only "Union Berlin" on German Wikipedia. Other examples are 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig and BSG Chemie Leipzig, which is often called only "Lokomotive Leipzig" and "Chemie Leipzig". (That BFC Dynamo are often called "Dynamo Berlin", is another story...).

I know we should stick with the most common name per WP:COMMONNAME. But this is a very interesting topic and I think these prefixes are important in some cases. This is my view:

1. FC Union has its roots in East German football. And in East German football, these prefixes (BSG, SC and FC, etc.) will tell you a lot about the club . That is why I think it is important to write 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig, BSG Chemie Leipzig etc. (In the case of 1. FC Lokomotive Lepzig, I strongly suggest that "1. FC" is used, also to separate the club from SC Lokomotive Leipzig). But I understand that these prefixes are not that interesting outside that context, or if you are not familiar with how German football (or continental European football) is organized (with regard to club organization).

I regularly see how authors (of magazines, sports articles, etc.) either fail to undestand, or deliberately simplifies, the history of some clubs, such as 1. FC Union Berlin and 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig. It is often told that the "fotball club" changed name from this to that, like this "football club" was one single entity (allegedly, a pure football club) the whole time, when the "football club" was in fact a football department of one multi-sports club (BSG, or later SC), and then following a merger, a football department of another multi-sports club (TSC or SC), and only later (1965-1966), as part of a major national re-organization of football, separated from its sports club and re-organized into a pure football club (FC).

So, I think that by not using the prefixes, a lot of history is pushed aside and things are uncesessarily oversimplified. What is your view on this?

Kindest regards. /EriFr (talk) 19:54, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

List of Eintracht Frankfurt players[edit]

Would someone from this task for mind taking a look at List of Eintracht Frankfurt players? The formatting seems a bit unorthodox and as if someone merged two articles together, but didn't do any post merge cleanup. The TOC, in particular seems, a bit odd, not so much because of how it's formatted, but because it's located near the middle of the article. Perhaps this type of layout isn't so uncommon, but other similar articles like List of FC Schalke 04 players, List of Borussia Dortmund players and List of VfL Bochum players seem to follow a more traditional layout with the TOC at or near the top of the article below the lead section. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:46, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Marchjuly: - yeah, the structure of that article is pretty odd. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to put the international caps in the table, like with List of Birmingham City F.C. players. As a side note, List of VfL Bochum players is basically unreadable as the text is too small, and violates MOS:TEXTSIZE. Microwave Anarchist (talk) 20:13, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Season pages of German teams[edit]

Hello everyone! I'm creating many season pages of German teams for Italian wikipedia: it:Template:Calcio in Germania 1999-2000, so I could make the same work for English wikipedia, too, since many season pages are missing here. Do you have specific guidelines? ChampagneSupernova3 (talk) 16:58, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikitable in Christian Groß[edit]

Can anyone think of a way to eliminate the excessive white space at the beginning of Christian Groß#Career statistics? The table in that section is coming into conflict with the infobox. Perhaps there's a way to resize the table? -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:59, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Marchjuly: I forced the heading down. My best recommendation would be to add some prose. :-) Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 08:29, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
