I am not sure where to put this, but I hope that by putting it late, it will be seen.

I went through the "Did you know..."s from the start. Now, I have started on the "Today's featured picture"s from the start.

There is something very screwy going on. There are many duplicates of pictures and text. I have gotten as far as January 2006, and there are some pictures that I have seen multiple times. I suspect database corruption of some sort. The text goes with the pictures; it is that the whole thing is duplicated. (There is an exception to this: December 28, 2004, where the text does not match the picture.) I suppose that it is possible that the same picture was selected multiple times, but I am rather doubtful that this is the case.

  • Hi there! Actually, a lot of pictures are selected more than once. There is no policy or guideline against it, and DYK and POTD are different processes with different expectations. If you look I'm sure you'll note that the featured articles and "on this day" may also use the same images. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:21, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh. With all of the pictures to choose from, I was surprised to see so many duplicates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.183.127.126 (talk) 04:26, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
