Alexander Hamilton award and the Million Award

Hi! The article that I nominated for the GA recently has been completed (and it was a success), and I'm curious about the use of the award. Is the award received for last years viewing stats or this years projected viewing pages. I'm don't think I would be able to track down all of the participants, but I did have to re-write a good portion of that article (I would definitely award it to another user that did help during the process), so if I did receive the award, how would it be listed?

Hope I didn't ask anything that was too confusing, and please respond when you get the chance, and thanks for reading! LeftAire (talk) 21:53, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

I waited until I was sure the article I had improved, IQ classification, had had a million page views since I last expanded it, but that was just my personal taste in how I claim awards. The 2014 Popular pages list gives a good idea of what kinds of articles get a million views in a year, and that in turn identifies which articles you can check for what daily figures, sustained over time, would result in a million award or the half-million or quarter-million awards. Thanks for helping to improve an important article. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 22:45, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Palestine

Hi, the article Palestine was recently brought to GA status. How can I fill in a request here? Oncenawhile (talk) 12:58, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Bharatiya Janata Party

This article recently achieved GA status. It has sometimes received more than 100,000 views in a month, frequently more than 50,000, and never less than 30,000, so it should qualify for one of the awards; I am not certain how they are calculated. Thanks, Vanamonde93 (talk) 15:43, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

I recently took this article to GA. Per Million Award's guidance of calculation, it comes 271,772 annual readership, qualified for Quarter Million Award. Although I never work for barnstars, I kinda find it fascinating. Best. -- Frankie talk 19:29, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

This article has been recently promoted to GA status and has been viewed 50239 times in the last 30 days. I find it eligible enough to be awarded the Half Million award. Hoping the best to happen. Cheers! Pavanjandhyala (talk) 13:12, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

Enthiran

@Cirt and Khazar2: The article achieved FA status this April. Per Million Award's guidance of calculation, it comes 462,244 annual readership. Thereby I find it eligible for a Quarter Million Award. Didn't know one had to leave a message on the talk page here for the award until Pavanjandhyala mentioned it to me about it on his talk page. Hoping for the best. :-)  — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 08:50, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Green Day and Ahmedabad

Green Day was my first GA and Ahmedabad, my second. Somehow, I totally forgot about them when I asked for the review of Delhi for the million award. When I calculated, the Green Day article has over 1.2 million view and Ahmedabad, 0.35 around. So, can anyone please review that for the million and quarter-million award respectively? Much appreciated, Yash! 14:23, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

Termite

As of last month, Termite has been getting nearly 900 views a day and almost 27,000 views a month. I have recently promoted this to GA, and it attracts well over 300,000 views per year, so that would mean I am eligible for at least one of these awards. Correct? Burklemore1 (talk) 05:34, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

Done. Thanks for the huge contribution! -- Khazar2 (talk) 13:28, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
And I thank you for giving out the award, thank you so much! Burklemore1 (talk) 16:09, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

Bristol

Bristol has just been promoted to FA (after several attempts and many years of work). According to the stats page it is viewed around 50,000 - 55,000 times a month, but some months is around 45,000 - therefore I'm not sure if this qualifies for the quarter million or half million. Could someone take a look (and check the maths)?— Rod talk 10:14, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Checked the annual readership for 2015. Qualifies for The Half Million Award. Yash! 11:19, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
Rod, you are an absolute star; my own effort at Bristol articles, Gloucester Road pales in comparison. Anyway, according to these stats, Bristol was viewed 229,552 times in the last 90 days. Multiplying that by (365/90) gives us 930,961, just short of the Million Award I'm afraid. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:27, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks both. I have added this as a "Half Million Award". The Bristol article wasn't just me it has been edited over 4,500 times but over 1,600 different editors since its creation in 2002.— Rod talk 17:36, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

Bot assistance in giving this award?

Hello,

I've been a fan of this little project since I first found out about it. Trouble is, I find identifying and rewarding qualifying articles really tedious. So I've made a request for bot assistance at Wikipedia:Bot_requests#Help_with_awarding_the_Million_Award. Thought you guys would like to know and might have some valuable input in the discussion.

Maybe some of you are even already using bots to help with the awarding process. As you probably guessed, I'm not super technically minded so talk slow and use small words around me! :D Bobnorwal (talk) 14:17, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Bobnorwal, what ever came of your bot request? — Cirt (talk) 18:24, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

Deletion to Quality Award

I've created the WP:Deletion to Quality Award.

This recognizes editors who've taken a page previously considered for deletion — to Featured Article or Good Article quality.

The award is inspired by the Wikipedia:Million Award, the Wikipedia:Article Rescue Squadron, and the Wikipedia:WikiProject Quality Article Improvement.

Please see Wikipedia:Deletion to Quality Award.

Thank you,

Timeline of Buddhism

Hi there, the Buddhist traditions timeline template is transcluded in to most of the Buddhism related pages and surely is well viewed. I significantly improved this to add additional historical context and major world traditions after the template had sat abandoned for four years — see previous version. prat (talk) 03:19, 30 December 2015 (UTC)

Further research shows stats are as follows for 2015/12:

Buddhism 144423
Timeline of Buddhism 2470
Early Buddhist schools 1634
Early Buddhism 829
Outline of Buddhism 2571

... ie. not even 1/4 million views/month, more like 150,000. Still happy with this contribution! prat (talk) 04:55, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Kerala

Kerala just got promoted to GA status and if I am not wrong, it get around 1938816 views annually (477541 in the last 90 days). I believe it qualifies for the Million award. Can someone check and confirm please? Yash! 05:43, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

Cirt, Mr.Z-man showed interest in developing Bots for this so I have left him a message. I am not sure how long it will take to develop one and not sure even if one will be developed since Mr.Z-man has been inactive for about four months now. Yash! 07:41, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

Howl's Moving Castle (film)

I'm not sure how active this page is any more, but hey. Howl's Moving Castle (film) gets approximately 697116 views a year, so half a million at the very least. If somebody could check this, I'd be much obliged. Vanamonde (talk) 06:09, 27 July 2016 (UTC)

New tier: The Three-Quarter Million Award

The current 3-tier arrangement overlooks those many articles that have an average of just over 2,000 visitors each day, or three-quarters of a million visitors each year. The current templates could be easily amended to facilitate this. Does anyone have any comments on this proposal? William Harris • (talk) • 09:04, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

Support - It is always great to accolade people with new awards, and this is a really good idea! Adityavagarwal (talk) 09:16, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for your support. I have amended the "Bling" section but I am having difficulty with the "Banner awards". These use the Template:Millionaward and the number of visits entered in the {{subst: command then generates the type of award given. It is beyond my ability - perhaps someone else might amend it. William Harris • (talk) • 12:17, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
William Harris I do not have any idea on how to fix that either. Maybe TheDragonFire could help? Adityavagarwal (talk) 13:28, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
Done. I made some additional tweaks to the template as well, so it should substitute smoother in the future. TheDragonFire (talk) 04:54, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Not only for the editors involved - it helps to make us aware of which articles attract large audiences. William Harris • (talk) • 07:15, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Planned Parenthood is getting an estimated 905,000 page views per year, but if I try to post this template: on my Talk page it signs it with my signature which I feel is poor form. I know we are posting this award on the honor system but that seems a bit transparent. PS: To Cirt, I like your rescued article award too. Cheers! Checkingfax {Talk} 23:02, 9 April 2016 (UTC)

@Checkingfax: This is probably quite late, but you can feed the template |nosig=yes to remove your signature. TheDragonFire (talk) 04:56, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
Hi, TheDragonFire. Thank you! Cheers! Checkingfax {Talk} 07:26, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Template parameter "nocat" not working?

On my page User:Patrug, I put the userbox , but my page is still getting assigned to Category:Million Award. Am I doing something wrong, or is the MAward template doing something wrong? Its creator User:Khazar2 retired from Wikipedia last year, so I'd welcome advice from anyone familiar with template coding. —Patrug (talk) 07:07, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

@Patrug:  Should be fixed now. nocat was being passed to userbox, but the category was being emitted separately, so userbox had no control over it. TheDragonFire (talk) 09:09, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

The article Girls' Generation have been promoted to GA-status recently (co-nominated with TerryAlex and Random86), and if I am not wrong, it gets approximately 1,445,000 views annually. @:  Awarded. The article received 1,459,003 views in 2016, and 1,561,838 in last 12 months preceding today. You have made 235 edits to the article, and participated in the GA review process which led to the article being promoted. You are therefore eligible for a Million Award. I've searched your archives and it appears no one has gotten to this before I have, but apologies if I've duplicated someone. TheDragonFire (talk) 09:33, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Some extinct animals

I'm not very good at calculations, and some of these have been TFAs relatively recently, but could someone check if dire wolf (FA by William Harris), Megalodon (GA) and Smilodon qualify for some of the awards? There may be other deserving article on the list of popular palaeontology articles.[1] FunkMonk (talk) 00:09, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello FunkMonk, still out there batting for the dead things I see. As requested:
  • "The dog" - over 1m but back to 920k when disregarding the "Today's Featured Article" spike of 93k. Gets 2,300 visitors each day.
  • Megalodon - 1.36m over 12 months or 3,700 visitors each day. It has numerous spikes, the largest being 10k on 24 JULY with numerous others at 7k across the year. This one should be accepted for the 1m award.
  • "The cat" - 577k with a spike of 65k on 3JAN17, with 1,600 visitors each day. I assume that was TFA day, but it still passes the 500,000 mark with that removed.
  • Dinosaur - the super heavy-weight contender in more ways than one! 1.9m visitors over 12 months and recently 5,200 visitors each day. Perhaps we need a 2-million award because dinosaur will hit it at some time in the future. (Every child on the planet loves dinosaurs, especially the computer-literate ones.) William Harris • (talk) • 10:16, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
Seems you'd need at least the half million award then! I got the million award for the dodo once, but the wolf seems to be ahead of it on the popularity list now, so not sure how that works... FunkMonk (talk) 10:21, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
Our colleague User:Dunkleosteus77 has achieved a GA for the Coyote article that received 1.48m visitors over the past 12 months and 4k visitors each day - a One-million award. William Harris • (talk) • 10:37, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
William Harris Has he been awarded the MA for coyote yet? I do not see it in his user/talk page. If not, either of us could award him on his talk page. I think there should be a system of automatically issuing the award once an article has GA/FA passed! Adityavagarwal (talk) 13:22, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
Now awarded. The 2 dinosaurs and "the cat" have a complex history, perhaps FunkMonk could advise further. Smilodon could warrant a joint award. William Harris • (talk) • 22:05, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
LittleJerry and I jointly nominated Smilodon. Seems Spawn Man FAC nominated Dinosaur, but he isn't active anymore. Megalodon is murky, seems it was reviewed without a nomination, maybe it was the practice back in 2008, not sure... Anyhow, I think User:Dunkleosteus77 may be trying to get it to FAC, so he could get the award by then... FunkMonk (talk) 22:14, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
Little Jerry and Funkmonk have now been jointly awarded for "the cat" (Smilodon), which is an important article. William Harris • (talk) • 08:33, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, I was only involved in the FAC version, not the GAN though! FunkMonk (talk) 08:53, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
Now amended. William Harris • (talk) • 11:41, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
While on the subject, I'm getting it peer reviewed and I've gotten one comment so far, anyone got anything else to add before I give it the go-ahead?   User:Dunkleosteus77 |push to talk  22:22, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
  • Now you only need your award, William Harris, but maybe we should wait and see whether it reaches a million views at some point? FunkMonk (talk) 10:13, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
We can do that. William Harris • (talk) • 10:24, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

2 award suggestions

According to Wikipedia:WikiProject New York City/Popular pages, there are 2 GA's that I (Epicgenius (talk · contribs)) promoted some time ago, that deserve a half-million award but weren't nominated as such at the time. They are:

  1. Trump Tower, by me, with 1,655 average views per day or 604,075 per year. Promoted March 2017.
  2. New York City Subway, by Kew Gardens 613 (talk · contribs) (nominator) and me (largest contributor by text size), with 1,680 average views a day or 613,200 a year. Promoted February 2016. There are also various other major editors according to this chart.

Can these articles be considered for the award? Thank you in advance. epicgenius (talk) 01:15, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

@Epicgenius: I've conferred awards to you and other contributors to New York City Subway. I've spent way too much time thinking about Trump Tower's annual readership – it was about 700,000 in the year immediately following when it was promoted to a good article withholding the ~250,000 from short spikes, so I posted a shiny banner for that also. It would qualify now anyway to half million looking at the last few months since it has settled out a little. – Rhinopias (talk) 23:57, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
@Rhinopias: Thanks for the awards, I appreciate them. I agree that the viewership for Trump Tower's article seems to have stabilized for the time being, at least as long as Trump is president. epicgenius (talk) 02:14, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

I'm not sure how the averages or spikes for views are calculated for the awards but was wondering if someone could check since this article was recently promoted to GA status. User:PatTheMoron helped much with the process getting to GA status and I think they deserve an award as well. Thanks! -Jeanjung212 (talk) 21:41, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

This article was awarded GA status today. I was the main text contributor to the article, excluding reverts, but other contributors can also be considered. With a daily average of 4,000 views a day, I guess this article is more than a million views for a year. epicgenius (talk) 23:53, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

Nosedive

I was the main contributor to the good article Nosedive, which I think qualifies for the full Million Award (2017 views, last 365 days). But can someone else please check for me as I would prefer not to just self-award this? Bilorv(talk)(c)(e) 13:43, 11 February 2018 (UTC)

I recently promoted this article, which annually gets around 504,000 views, to GA status, so I think it should qualify for a Half-Million Award. Thank you in advance! JOEBRO64 23:50, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

Yep! That's a Half-Million Award. Feel free to add The Death of Superman, the banner I've given you or any other mention of this on your userpage. Bilorv(c)(talk) 01:57, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Does this article qualify for a million award? I improved it to GA status a few years back (aside from this I'm not entirely sure why, but it's improving Wikipedia so meh), and have largely kept an eye on it since, trying to ensure it still meets the criteria while accommodating new information. I don't think it had a million views a year in 2015, but having just checked the Pageviews Analysis tool now, it has achieved 1.4 million hits in the past 12 months, as the article seems to have been progressively more popular. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:26, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

@Bilorv:, @Epicgenius: - any ideas? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:32, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
Personally, I'd say that given the article had 738k views in the last year, half a million might be more accurate. 2017 seemed to have a huge spike when Something to Tell You was released, and views have calmed down considerably since then (as one would expect). Ultimately, The exact method of calculation is ultimately up to the editor awarding it (including self-awarding), so if you think the million award is appropriate then that's fair enough. The band is still active so presumably there will be spikes like those of 2017 in the future. Bilorv(c)(talk) 17:26, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
I'd rather get consensus before declaring it as such, so half-million it is. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:16, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
I would also say that this would qualify for a half-million award. In my opinion, only long-term page view volume should factor into the award (i.e. disregarding short-term bursts caused by DYKs or TFAs). epicgenius (talk) 04:52, 8 August 2018 (UTC)

How time-lenient is the Million Award?

Hello, I'm Rebestalic.

How time-lenient is the Million Award? What I mean by that is, if I made an article named "abc" featured and the article clocked 1 million pageviews three months later, would I still receive a Million Award?

Thank you, Rebestalic[dubious—discuss] 03:39, 14 November 2018 (UTC)

From the page, The exact method of calculation is ultimately up to the editor awarding it (including self-awarding), and should be guided by personal honor and common sense. Like any user page bling, the Million Award exists only for editor encouragement and fun, and should never be subject to dispute over who "deserves" it. The Million Award should generally only be given for an article's current readership, not for past spikes. However, a Million Award is not revoked if an article's popularity later declines. Hope that helps. The summary is that if you feel it deserves the award, then it deserves the award. Kees08 (Talk) 21:06, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

Break out tables

Would anyone object to a table for GA and a table for FA? I was curious who had the most of each, and without the first column being sortable (which is also an option), it makes it a tad difficult. Kees08 (Talk) 21:00, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea to me. Gog the Mild (talk) 22:57, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
@Gog the Mild: What do you think of removing the first column now that they are split? Anyone else have opinions? Kees08 (Talk) 05:16, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
@Kees08: It is not something I feel strongly about, but I find it mildly helpful to have the symbol in the first column. Is there a reason to remove it, other than to eliminate redundancy and/or aesthetics? Gog the Mild (talk) 19:42, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Presumably decrease page load time, but mostly redundancy/aethetics. Since all of the rows in the tables are either featured or good, it is a bit redundant now that the tables are split out. Kees08 (Talk) 19:51, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
I think it's better as it is. If you scroll halfway down the page, it won't be obvious which table you're looking at without the first column. And then you have to scroll back up the page to see, but if you scroll too fast you'll miss the small table heading and then you've lost your place in the table anyway. Bilorv(c)(talk) 20:08, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Bilorv puts the concern I have succinctly. I would, as they suggest, prefer to leave them as is. Gog the Mild (talk) 20:42, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Less work for me, I will leave it like it is. Thanks for the input! Kees08 (Talk) 21:29, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
@Bilorv: Thanks for fixing that by the way, and simultaneously crushing my hope of getting four in a row in the table :P. Kees08 (Talk) 21:34, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

Million Award for Featured Lists

Hey, While awarding Million Awards for Featured Lists, I found out that FLs do not qualify? As an FL that reaches 1M views would be significant, in my opinion, we should also have these awards for lists. Any ideas? Adityavagarwal (talk) 13:54, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

Yes, they definitely should count. I think it's fine to list them in the same section as the GAs and FAs. Bilorv(c)(talk) 13:58, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
Hey Bilorv yeah true that! Also, do you have any awards due to receive yet? Let me know. I would do it right away! Adityavagarwal (talk) 14:01, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
Haha well, I have a couple of Black Mirror-related pages that have high view counts, but because it fluctuates based on the release of each series, I'd prefer to measure the views over a longer period of time and see if it's still high enough. Thanks for the offer though! Bilorv(c)(talk) 14:29, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
Bilorv, one only I see which qualifies for the Million Award. There does not seem to be any award better than that, so I have given you! Adityavagarwal (talk) 08:23, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks! Bilorv(c)(talk) 13:42, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
Bilorv Could you let me know if there is any other article just in case I am missing anything? You mentioned that you had a couple of articles to be considered, so if you could let me know the second article, I would check for the best period for its view count. The Black Mirror list article has only a few thousand views, so I am assuming you may have some other Black Mirror related article that I might have missed. Adityavagarwal (talk) 04:54, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
Looks like there are around 50, if we just look over the last year.
@Adityavagarwal: (fix broken ping) Kees08 (Talk) 19:31, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Hey Kees08, thank you for the FLs eligible for the award! Should we first update the million award page to mention that FLs would also be eligible apart from GAs and FAs? Adityavagarwal (talk) 04:32, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Sure no problem. I modified the page to say that, I suppose if anyone disagrees they can note here. Kees08 (Talk) 04:36, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Kees08 So, do we start dispensing the awards? Adityavagarwal (talk) 15:14, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Oh, I am not sure. It could be a happy surprise on someone's talk page. Anticomposite happened to know how to find which ones had the most views, so I just wanted to share that with you. 17:26, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
I would say we should! We could slowly complete dispensing the awards to the people who are eligible. Adityavagarwal (talk) 13:04, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

Million Award for Nancy Pelosi

Hi. Can someone else please look over Nancy Pelosi and Talk:Nancy Pelosi/GA1? I believe it qualifies for a million award, but would prefer if someone else awarded it. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 06:35, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Confirmed, already awarded by Wugapodes on 2 June 2019 (UTC)

Half Million Award for Franz Schubert

Dear All, I am writing to request the Half-Million Award for promoting Franz Schubert to GA, which has received more than 550,000 page views in 2018. Please post on my Talk page if I qualify for it - (I’m also currently working on getting it to FA ). Thank You, Zingarese talk · contribs 03:26, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Since there has been no response in two months, I have already listed the award on my user page, as I believe I qualify. Just contact me if there is any problem with that. Zingarese talk · contribs 20:01, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
Verified Franz Schubert had 565,546 pageviews in 2018. On that year it had two main page appearances: A DYK on August 4 for 5,246 views which did not significantly affect the year's total. (There was also a non-bolded DYK on April 29 which wasn't much above the yearly average.) Confirmed that Zingarese is a major contributor to the article and carried out changes for the GA review. Thanks for improving this level-4 vital article! – Reidgreg (talk) 20:47, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Quarter Million Award for Back to Black

The article Back to Black (Amy Winehouse's most popular album) has received over 260,000 pageviews from 2018 to now. So, I personally think that I should obtain the award because of the qualification. :)- AppleWormBoy (talk) 10:05, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Verified AppleWormBoy is a major contributor to Back to Black, responded to the GA review concerns, and the article was promoted to GA on June 4. Pageviews for 365 days before promotion were 262,930 and for 2018 were 264,927. The article hasn't had any main page appearances (search results), so there's no reason not to take the full value. Quarter-Million Award verified, and awarded on editor's talk page. – Reidgreg (talk) 21:54, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Do I and Knope7 qualify for the Quarter Million Award for Mae Jemison? We didn't start Talk:Mae Jemison/GA1 but we did 100% of the work besides the reviewer. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 11:10, 15 June 2019 (UTC)

Verified The Mae Jemison article's page authorship stats list Coffeeandcrumbs as the primary author of the article, with Knope7 a significant contributor. These two editors responded throughout the GA review. They've done the work, so full marks. The article had 440,565 pageviews in 2018 with no Main Page appearances. Quarter Million Award verified.
It was already awarded to Knope7 on 22 June, and to Coffeeandcrumbs on 18 June. It would really help if the awarding editor noted that they gave the award here. – Reidgreg (talk) 22:10, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
Sorry, did not know this was here. Kees08 (Talk) 23:23, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
That was my fault. --- Coffeeandcrumbs 23:31, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Request check for poutine (three-quarter million)

I recently brought poutine to GA (review), and noticed that its page views for the last year were above 800k. Talk:poutine doesn't mention any main page appearances, and it looks like a solid 750k even if the spikes are discounted. Would appreciate if another editor could check the numbers and give an award if it qualifies. Also, given the page views, should I upgrade the article's importance in the WikiProject banners on the talk page? – Reidgreg (talk) 11:19, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

checkY Yep, you did substantial work on the article and responded to comments in the GA review. View count in 2018 was over 750K with no anomalies. I'd say poutine is mid-importance for WP Food&Drink (and Canada) but I'd be reluctant to mark it any higher (and there are other factors than just view count). Bilorv (he/him) (talk) 23:39, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, sounds good. I noticed a level4 vital article that was marked at mid-importance though, which just seems weird. – Reidgreg (talk) 16:58, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

Half-Million Award for "New Rules" and Tove Lo

Hello! I'm requesting a Half-Million Award for:

I think this qualifies for a quarter million. She appeared on the Main Page on July 21, 2019. --- C&C (Coffeeandcrumbs) 04:50, 26 December 2019 (UTC)

Verified: 370,000 views in the 12-month period before its promotion. Awarded a Quarter Million to you and to Kees08 who is also a major contributor and responded during the GA review. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:32, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

Page gets about 30,518 views per month.~~ CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 01:38, 31 December 2019 (UTC)

Verified. Plenty of views after subtracting his Main Page birthday appearance in July. Would have sent it earlier, but I hadn't checked FLs (which were added in Feb 2019). On its way. – Reidgreg (talk) 20:47, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
Done. I made a small modification to Millionaward so it would accept FL for featured lists, which tells you how rare this accomplishment is! – Reidgreg (talk) 20:59, 31 December 2019 (UTC)

Request for award check

Please could the following be checked? They are rather old.

  • Charlize Theron filmography, Half a Million Award per 2. 576,000 estimated views (4x144,000) between August 1 and November 1, 2015). Promoted in February 2016.
  • Natalie Portman filmography, Quarter of a Million Award per 3. 288,000 estimated views (4x72,000) between August 1 and November 1, 2015). Promoted on November 29, 2015.
  • Nicole Kidman filmography, Quarter of a Million Award per 4 444,000 estimated views (4x110,952) between July and October 1, 2015. Promoted on October 28, 2015.
  • Will Smith filmography, Half a Million Award per 5. 651,908 views in 2016. Promoted in February 2017.
    •  Done. Verified and posted awards for the four above. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:20, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
  • I'm sure there are other articles that would qualify but as grok.se has been down I can't access pageviews before July 2015. Such as Leonardo DiCaprio filmography (promoted in November 2014) which has had lifetime (July 2015 till now) views of 6 over 7.2 million, List of Tom Hanks performances (promoted in October 13, 2014) 7 508,119 views in 2015 and lifetime (July 2015 till now) views of over 4.4 million 8
  • Is there an alternative view of viewing pageviews before July 2015? Cowlibob (talk) 13:59, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
The WP:5000 (Popular Pages Report) statistics go back to October 2012, but articles would need about 2 million annual views to consistently make that list. I'll check the first four; maybe someone else will have an idea about the others. – Reidgreg (talk) 14:30, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for checking them and the link above. Leonardo DiCaprio filmography had 1,662,359 in 2013 per 9
List of Tom Hanks performances (then known as Tom Hanks filmography) had 1,001,408 in 2013 per 10.
Tom Cruise filmography had 1,003,742 views in 2014 per 11.
Denzel Washington on screen and stage (then known as Denzel Washington filmography) had 768,346 in 2014 per 12Cowlibob (talk) 15:35, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
Ah, I didn't realize he also compiled annual pageview stats. This doesn't really allow us to discount for one- or two-day spikes but I didn't find any Main Page appearances. Based on the continued high readership of these lists over the past 4.5 years, I don't see any reason not to award these. DiCaprio got more spikes over the past few years, so I assumed as much for 2013 and trimmed that a bit, but still an easy million.  Done. – Reidgreg (talk) 18:08, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for checking and adding these! I note that the userbox for 250k and 750k awards is not formatted to accept FLs, could you modify these please so that they work for FLs? Cowlibob (talk) 23:57, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
Done. Testcases on the template seemed to work fine, and I added some documentation since it's getting more complex. I modified the main User MAward template and didn't bother to make the little shortcut templates. The topicon template MA user topicon works no matter what you put in for status, so that was fine. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:41, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
I meant these templates for the userboxes that are on the side of the page rather than on top: Article X and Article X. When I replace the FA with FL, it comes out as a red link. When I do so for the million and the half a million version, it works. Cowlibob (talk) 20:24, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
Okay,  Done. I was unaware of those because they didn't call User MAward, so I didn't find them under What links here and they weren't mentioned on the Project page. It looks like User MAwardFL and User HMAwardFL were made in 2013 by Khazar2, who has been inactive since 2015. I made the missing two, and reworked the others to call the main template (which will make them easier to find and update if that becomes necessary). You might as well just use article name, it does the same thing and holds the estimated view number for reference. – Reidgreg (talk) 20:55, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

Award check

Seems like these requests are more common now. Wehwalt and I just brought Apollo 13 to FA, which received +2 million views last year. Kees08 (Talk) 15:49, 4 January 2020 (UTC)

Done. Awarded to yourself and Wehwalt, both major contributors to the article who saw it through its FAC. (The article had 2 main page appearances and a couple short spikes which I discounted from the total page views.) Added to HOF.
FWIW, I went through all the FAs and FLs which were promoted in 2019, and believe that I awarded all that qualified. – Reidgreg (talk) 21:05, 4 January 2020 (UTC)

Million award for a few articles

I just realized that I have a few articles that I can request for this award. All were promoted to GA.

There might be more, but it's been quite a while since I asked for a Million Award. epicgenius (talk) 00:22, 2 December 2019 (UTC)

Epicgenius,  Done --- C&C (Coffeeandcrumbs) 03:01, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
@Coffeeandcrumbs: Thanks. I have two extra articles as well.

epicgenius (talk) 03:44, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

 Done. --- C&C (Coffeeandcrumbs) 04:35, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
@Coffeeandcrumbs: Thanks. I think and PointsofNoReturn should also be recognized for the Grand Central article. epicgenius (talk) 03:44, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
Epicgenius, looks like Ɱ was already given recognition. I am not seeing Points contribution to the GA effort. --- C&C (Coffeeandcrumbs) 04:10, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
@Coffeeandcrumbs: Oops, I did not notice that. Most of Points's edits were in 2018, and he hasn't been active in the past few months. However, on further examination, it does look like his edits aren't too major. epicgenius (talk) 04:14, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

@Coffeeandcrumbs: Can I request one more award, for Brooklyn Bridge? There are about 648k views per year. (Sorry about this. I may ask for more awards as many of my higher-profile GA's are promoted). epicgenius (talk) 14:01, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

Epicgenius, no worries. Done. --- C&C (Coffeeandcrumbs) 14:15, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
Coffeeandcrumbs, sorry to bring up old threads. I just improved Ellis Island to GA status. In 2019 it had 562k views. epicgenius (talk) 16:29, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
 Done. --- C&C (Coffeeandcrumbs) 16:43, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

2 Indian filmographies

Regards, --Skr15081997 (talk) 13:39, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

Done: The first FL was promoted in 2015, and it looks like it's averaging 1.2M/year since then. I wasn't too sure what to make of the second FL, which had relatively few page views before its promotion in May 2017. It and its main article Ajay Devgn has a similar jump at about the same time (30 April 2017), when it goes from 500 to 2000 views per day (link). I went with figures for the post-promotion year (link) which is about 400k after deducting some spikes. – Reidgreg (talk) 19:46, 10 February 2020 (UTC)

A Possible Million Award

I think I might have qualified for a Million Award as the 2019 Cricket World Cup past a million pageviews over the past year. HawkAussie (talk) 11:49, 9 February 2020 (UTC)

Checking... Definitely qualifies, but I've encountered a problem with the awards template. I'll try and sort it out tomorrow. – Reidgreg (talk) 16:22, 9 February 2020 (UTC)
Done. Also awarded a Deletion to Quality Award for good measure, and added to the Hall of Fame lists. – Reidgreg (talk) 19:47, 10 February 2020 (UTC)

Possible million?

An article I improved, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, just passed GA. It had over a million pageviews in the last year, though this included a big spike about this time last year. So I ran the pageview counter for the last 90 days, which gives 291,850 - this multiplied by 4 is still over a million, so I think it meets it? Kingsif (talk) 12:59, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

 Checking...Reidgreg (talk) 15:21, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
Done. Major contributor to article who made the GAN. Discounting a spike on March 8 due to a main page appearance (linked from the TFA), article has 1.16 million views with a steady median. Awarded MA and placed on hall of fame. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:38, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

Half Million award?

Can someone check if I qualify for the half million award, for getting Glass promoted to GA? Polyamorph (talk) 08:22, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Checking...  Verified. Major contributor to article who made GA nomination and responded to review. Vital article gets a steady 600k views per year. Awarded! – Reidgreg (talk) 12:29, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Possible Million?

Can someone assess whether a million award is recommended for getting bipolar disorder to GA status, please? Thanks! TylerDurden8823 (talk) 23:08, 15 March 2020 (UTC)

Checking...  Verified. Promoted to GA on 12 March. Article received about 2.3 million views in the year before promotion, with no main page appearances detected. I found three editors who were major contributors to the article and who responded to the GA reviewer, and have awarded and listed all three on the hall of fame. – Reidgreg (talk) 12:59, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

432 Park Avenue

Wontonalertbulb and I improved 432 Park Avenue to GA status. Last year it had 432k (coincidentally) views, but due to declining readership over the past few months, if trends hold during this year, it may have 300k views. epicgenius (talk) 15:11, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

Verified Major contributors to GA. The views still place it in the range for a quarter-million award; I discounted a couple spikes and place it at 370k for 3 April 2019 to 2 April 2020. No main page appearances detected. Awarded to both. – Reidgreg (talk) 12:18, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

Check two

For acne, which I got promoted to GA a few years ago (but didn't know about this award at the time). It seems slightly under 500K this year but in past years has been >500K so I'm wondering about a quarter vs half million award. Thanks! TylerDurden8823 (talk) 09:59, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

For GA promotion of psoriasis (happened a while ago but I didn't know about the award at the time)? Thank you for checking! TylerDurden8823 (talk) 10:00, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Checking...  Verified: Major contributor, led GA nominations, Acne gets about 520k annual views since 2017, and Psoriasis gets about 1.8 million (no main page appearances). Awarded both to TylerDurden8823 and to Doc James who assisted. Added Psoriasis to Hall of Fame list. – Reidgreg (talk) 11:54, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Ross Perot

Can someone please verify if Ross Perot qualifies for this? Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 06:04, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Verified: Major contributor and GA nominator. For pageviews, I can't count the huge spike from the subject's death last year. Article gets median 2,150 views (784k annually), so good for a three-quarter million. – Reidgreg (talk) 11:06, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Agatha Christie

The Agatha Christie article has just been promoted to GA. I was the face of the article editing and the GA nomination and review process, but I must also acknowledge my co-editor Tbytheriver with whom I have been collaboratively editing this article since October 2019 (as evidence, see the GA review and User talk:Tbytheriver). I would be grateful for an assessment in terms of this award for both editors please. Thanks.  ~ RLO1729💬 15:02, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

Checking... Reidgreg (talk) 12:11, 14 May 2020 (UTC). Sorry for my earlier confusion.  Verified Editor is a major contributor to the article who responded to the GA reviewer, assisted via email by Tbytheriver. A couple spikes with non-bolded main page appearances on 13 April 2019 and 3 February 2020, but still easily over one million views. Awarded to both editors and added to Hall of Fame list. – Reidgreg (talk) 13:05, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

Possible award?

Myself and User:Vaselineeeeeeee got Home Alone to GA about a month ago. I've only just discovered the Million Award, so could someone check if the article qualifies? Many thanks in advance, Thatoneweirdwikier | Say hi 10:40, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Checking... Reidgreg (talk)  Verified. Both editors are major contributors to article who also responded to GA review. No main page appearances detected before its DYK. The article's median views are about half its mean views due to high activity around the Christmas season. This period of activity lasts more than a month, so it's more than a spike and I'm inclined to count most of it. I'm assessing it at 1.6 million annual views, and awarded full Million Award and hall-of-fame list for both editors. – Reidgreg (talk) 11:14, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
@Thatoneweirdwikier: Thanks for looking into this! Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 15:43, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Million Award?

Hi. I took the liberty of nominating The Godfather to GA (annual readership of well over 2 million), which passed about a month ago. I had become somewhat of a major contributor within the last year or so to the article, but the one who really got this to GA standards in 2015/16 is User:Disc Wheel. If I do not qualify for the award, he certainly does. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 15:49, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Checking... Reidgreg (talk) 11:35, 19 May 2020 (UTC).  Verified. Disc Wheel is the article's major contributor and Vaselineeeeeeee handled the GAN. No main page appearances in 2019, though the article had a dozen spikes in readership that year. Assessing annual readership at 2.5 million. Awarded to both and placed on hall of fame list. – Reidgreg (talk) 12:35, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Million Award?

Hi. User:Messirulez and I got Gianluigi Buffon to GA (annual readership of well over 1 million, even in 2016), which passed a few years ago. Please assess :) Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 16:05, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Verified. Vaselineeeeeeee and Messirulez are major contributors to article and were active at time of GA review (article received a quick pass, so no nominator comments on review page). Pageview statistics are incomplete for the year before promotion (19 April 2016) so am using all-time median views to discount the very large spikes for this sports biography. Median daily views are 2962, so assessing 1.08 million annual views. Awarded to both and placed on hall of fame. – Reidgreg (talk) 12:35, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Million Award?

Hi. User:Sgeureka and I got Money Heist to GA (annual readership of well over 4 million), which passed about a year ago. Please assess :) Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 16:05, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Verified. Vaselineeeeeeee and Sgeureka are the major contributors of the article who both responded during the GA review. Article has some large pageview trends coinciding with its Neflix release dates, and I'm discounting only the very spikiest part of that for the year prior to passing GA. Assessing views for that year at 3.9 million. Awarded to both and placed on hall of fame. – Reidgreg (talk) 12:35, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Robert De Niro filmography

Thanks. ~~ CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 09:23, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
Verified. Major contributor, nominated for FL and responded in FLC. No main page appearances detected. Pageviews for the year before promotion are about 650k. 2016 was probably the peak year for the article. – Reidgreg (talk) 11:13, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

Filmography articles

Hi, three of the filmographies which I have contributed to, which I think qualify, have been promoted to "featured list".

Thanks in advance for checking these. Cowlibob (talk) 11:47, 9 August 2020 (UTC)

Verified. Primary contributor, responded to FL reviews. Discounted a little for peaks, including main page appearances for Naomi Watts filmography, Scarlett Johansson on screen and stage and the Scarlett Johansson parent article was a TFA. Three MAs awarded, and the Keanu Reeves one added to the hall of fame. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:15, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Coney Island

I improved Coney Island to GA status (at Talk:Coney Island/GA2). Last year it had 456k views, but because the topic of this article is a visitor attraction that's been closed for most of this year, it only has 310k views so far this year. epicgenius (talk) 14:23, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

Verified Primary contributor, responded to GA reviews. Discounted a small amount for peaks and related main-page appearances and calling it 450k views. Awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:40, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

Million Award?

I like shiny things. I believe my work on Grand Theft Auto V (2.7 million hits this year alone)[18] and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (1.5 million hits in 2016)[19] would qualify for Million Awards, and my work on Infamous Second Son (300,000 hits in 2016)[20] would qualify for a Quarter Million Award. I took GTA V through FA, Skyrim through GA and Infamous through GA all in 2014. — CR4ZE (TC) 23:58, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

Verified. Primary or major contributor to all three articles, responded to reviews. Pageview statistics don't go back to 2014, so I used July 2015 to June 2016. Awarded and two added to Hall of Fame list. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:41, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

More to award

Reidgreg, also Meghan Trainor and Rastafari recent FAs, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:45, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
@SandyGeorgia: I had been going through Wikipedia:Featured articles promoted in 2020 every few months, but not sure how much I'll be editing toward the close of the year. I'll check these two since you mentioned.
Verified Meghan Trainor. User:MaranoFan is a major contributor who responded to the FA review. No main page appearances in the 365 days before promotion, but discounted some spikes for 1.5M views, Awarded and added to Hall of Fame.
Verified Rastafari. User:Midnightblueowl is the primary contributor and responded to FA review. No Main Page appearances in 365 days before promotion, during which it received 1.15M pageviews. Awarded and added to Hall of Fame. – Reidgreg (talk) 17:29, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

The Turn of the Screw

Hi there! I got The Turn of the Screw to GA, and although it has about 1.8mil views, some of these were within a spike, and I'm new enough that I don't feel comfortable doing the maths. It’s tough for me to discount all of them. There was a pretty popular Netflix adaptation of the novel, but (as you can see) spikes do happen when university students are looking at the book. That's why I attribute the January and September mini-spikes to. I'd really appreciate some guidance from someone with more experience :) Please ping me! — ImaginesTigers (talk) 12:21, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Checking...  Verified: Primary editor who made GAN and responded to review. No main page appearances for the article detected (but the 2009 film of the same name was TFA on 20 Dec 2019 and the 1959 film of the same name was a DYK on 9 Nov 2020). No big spikes those days. The big 10 Oct spike appears to be directly related to the Netflix release of the adaptation The Haunting of Bly Manor. Compare the pageviews (link - use the logarithmic scale) there's a clear correlation. I'm discounting a bit for that and assessing it at 1.4 million pageviews. Awarded and added to Hall of Fame. – Reidgreg (talk) 19:29, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Dominic Thiem

I got Dominic Thiem to GA earlier this month, and was wondering whether it qualified, it received 1.8 million views in 2020, but the majority of the views came in two spikes, which are due to grand slam events in which Thiem participated, therefore receiving a large number of views in a week/ few days. I'm not sure whether it counts or not, so hoped someone with more experience wouldn't mind having a look, thanks. Ym2X (talk) 20:07, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Verified. Primary contributor, responded to GA review. You're right, the spikes are really high above the background views (represented by the median average of 904). I'm bumping it up a bit from that and assessing it at 500,000 for a half-million award. Awarded on your talk page. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:22, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Al Capone

Hi. I helped bring Al Capone to GA recently, and looking at the history, another main contributor was User:Overagainst from several years ago. Traffic stats well over 1 million. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 21:46, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

@Reidgreg: Pinging in case this got lost in your watchlist :). Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 15:30, 12 February 2021 (UTC)
Verified. Major contributors, Vaselineee responded to GA reviewer. No main page appearances detected last year. Discounting about 10% for spikes (April 16, May 13–24 and December 12), I'm assessing it at 4.5 million views last year. Awarded to both and added to hall of fame. QMA?

Hi, I recently took Shrek! to GA. It got 257k views last year, but there are some spikes (though admittedly not incredibly large ones), so I'd appreciate a 2nd opinion on whether it actually qualifies. (cc: Reidgreg) Cheers, Eddie891 Talk Work 13:07, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Verified: Primary contributor who responded to GA reviewer. No main page appearances detected in 2020–21, but it is pretty close. I took pageviews for the 365 days before promotion at 282k, and discounting the spikes still leaves us safely around 260k. Awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 14:30, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

John Gotti

@Reidgreg: Hi! I helped bring John Gotti to GA recently, and looking at the history, another main contributor was User:Lenin and McCarthy from several years ago. Traffic stats well over 1 million. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 22:48, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Verified: Substantial editor, nominated and responded to GA reviewer. No main page appearances detected; assessing at 2.1 million views. Also awarding to User:Lenin and McCarthy (who last edited the article a year / 150 edits ago) for substantial authorship. Awarded and listed on HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 14:37, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

I believe User:OmegaFallon meets the criteria for the Million Award for promoting Among Us to GA in October 2020 and seems to have currently settled down to an at least 7k pageviews a day more than enough for the award. Regards  Spy-cicle💥  Talk? 02:14, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Checking... I'll start checking the next four now. – Reidgreg (talk) 15:43, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Verified: OmegaFallon is a major contributor who responded to the GA review. No main page appearances detected. Article was created Sep 2020 and rapidly developed to pass GA. From the article text, it seems to have had high traffic volume due to streamers playing the game, which has gradually tapered off since September 2020. It seems to have stabilized with 7,000 views/day minimum and maybe 8,500 as an average. That would put it at 3.1 million annually. Awarded and Hall of Fame. – Reidgreg (talk) 16:59, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

I believe User:OceanHok qualifies for the half million for getting Hitman (2016 video game) to GA [21]. Regards  Spy-cicle💥  Talk? 02:41, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Verified: OceanHok is the primary contributor who responded to GA review. No main page appearances detected. I used the 365 days before it passed GA, discounted spikes and assessed at 320k pageviews. Awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 16:59, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Quantum mechanics

Quantum mechanics improved to GA status by XOR'easter (talk) and Tercer (talk). Page views at 1.6 million in the last year. Both users deserve the Million Award. Polyamorph (talk) 15:29, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

Verified XOR'easter and Tercer are each major contributors to the article and responded to the GA reviewer. This is a vital article and pageviews are steady at about 4,600 daily. Awarded and hall of fame. – Reidgreg (talk) 16:59, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Given the subject's death last year prompted millions and millions of pageviews, I wanted to check that it is okay to qualify using 2019 stats, over 1.7M views, though the edits to reach GA have mostly been since Boseman's death. (For what it's worth, the article has also had over a million views in 2021 already, even excluding one anomalous day with over 100k) Kingsif (talk) 00:03, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Verified: Kingsif is the article's primary contributor and responded to GA reviewer. Raw pageviews 1.7M in 2019, 17M in 2020, 19M in the 365 days before promotion. The massive spike coincides with the subject's death and the article's main page appearance 29 Aug – 1 Sep 2020. Those four days account for about 13M views. Prior to the subject's death, median views were about 4,000 and afterwards the median is about 14,000. Because the 14,000 figure appears stable, I'm inclined to include that in calculations. So I'm counting 208 days at 14k and 157 days at 4k for an overall assessment of 3.5 million. Awarded and Hall of Fame. – Reidgreg (talk) 16:59, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Ryan Reynolds filmography

I think Ryan Reynolds filmography qualifies for Million Award. I was the main contributor and helped it to become a featured list in November 2020. Per [[22], over 1 million views in 2018, 2019, and 2020. Cowlibob (talk) 13:07, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

  •  Verified in the last 12 calendar months, it was just under 1 million views, but averaging over the last two or three years puts it clearly over so I agree it's eligible for that level; Cowlibob nominated it for FLC and has almost 90% authorship. (t · c) buidhe 06:01, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

I am the main contributor to this article over 80% authorship and it was promoted to GA a few days ago. Article received 1,977,281 pageviews from April 2020 to March 2021[23] (t · c) buidhe 05:54, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Checking... Reidgreg (talk) 11:18, 27 April 2021 (UTC)  Verified: Buidhe is the primary author of the article and got the article up for GA (quick pass after a thorough check). Main page appearances 14 January (not linked) and 24 April 2021. Mean daily pageviews around 4000, with regular spikes on 24 April (Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day) which is about twice as high in 2021 (presumably due to the Main Page appearance). More than enough to qualify. Assessing at 1.5 M views, awarded and added to HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 11:58, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Is My Hero Academia eligible for the million award? I just got it promoted to GA and according to the tool (1), it had over 3 million page views in 2020. Link20XX (talk) 13:54, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Verified: Link20XX (talk · contribs) is a major contributor to the article and responded to GA review. No mainpage appearances detected. Not sure about the big spike on 27 March, but it's not that significant with 9000–10000 daily views. Asessing at 3,815,000 views for the 365 days before promotion. Awarded and added to HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 12:27, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Nuclear power

I brought Nuclear power to GA status last month. I was wondering if it is eligible for the half-million price. It had 510,733 views in 2020 ([24]). Thanks! --Ita140188 (talk) 04:10, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

I cleaned up the talk page a bit. It linked to its first GA review in 2008 which was quick failed; now fixed.  Verified: Ita140188 is a major contributor who responded to GA reviewer. There are regular weekly spikes in pageviews, perhaps related to classroom activity. No recent Main Page appearances detected. Assessing at 500k views in the 365 days before promotion. I'm going to co-award this to Boundarylayer who also has large authorship and has been actively editing it as recently as March 2021. – Reidgreg (talk) 13:11, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

Simp

I created and wrote Simp, which is a GA, and which was on the main page as a DYK on 11 January of this year. Pageview stats show 269,000 views in the last 90 days (back to March 12), and 568,000 since its creation. This seems eligible for the whole Million Award, so I'll submit it here. jp×g 03:02, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Verified: primary editor, assessing at 1.2 million pageviews (projected). Awarded and HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 10:56, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Pieces of a Woman

Another question for one! Pieces of a Woman was recently promoted to GA, but its history shows massive spikes when it came out at the start of the year. It has settled down since then, though, and the last 90 days shows 552,273 pageviews, so I think it qualifies. But an issue with this one is that it doesn't have a long article history, being a recent film, so there's not a full year pre-spike to compare against. Thanks, Kingsif (talk) 13:38, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

@Kingsif: Its pageview trajectory still seems to be going downward, so I'm not confident about assessing it right now. If you look at this range, its median daily views are 1,000 as a minimum (quarter-million award). Would you be alright with waiting a while longer to see what happens? – Reidgreg (talk) 14:10, 23 May 2021 (UTC)
@Reidgreg: Of course, the short history was my main worry! Kingsif (talk) 15:41, 23 May 2021 (UTC)
Verified. Pageviews hit a low around mid-June and then bounced up again. During the low period, median page views were still around 2,000 per day. Using a sample of about 2 months before and after it passed GA, I'm assessing it at 1.5 million page views per year. Awarded and added to HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 16:42, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Snooker

Forgot to ask for this at the time - but I promoted snooker to GA earlier this year, and is now going through FAC. Dianna Agron

Recent GA promotion Dianna Agron - taking years from January to December, there hasn't been one since 2015 (the furthest back the pageviews tool goes for this article) that hasn't been >800,000, some have gone over 1M, and it's always around the 1M mark. I've tried to find a yearlong period in the last couple years that hasn't got any massive spikes... unsuccessful, I just took a 2020-2021 period over which I'd done most of the improvement, minus July 2020 (so 11 months' worth), and it still came out >1M, but I know the lovely editors working this project are much better than I at calculating averages and what-not, so I leave it to you. Nominator was the one who brought it to FA; also authored most of the article. Going by the criteria of multiplying page views within the last 90 days (96,696) with the 4.06 factor, we get an estimated annual viewership of 393,000. Within the last year the article got 426,059 page views, but since we don't count views during Main Page appearances, I'll consider only the ~413,000 views. With all these approaches in mind, I'll go ahead and settle with ~400,000 for estimated annual viewership. Well done on the nomination! ‍ ‍ Your Power 🐍 ‍ 💬 "What did I tell you?"

Going by the criteria of multiplying page views within the last 90 days (86,352) with the 4.06 factor, we get an estimated annual viewership of ~350,590 hits. If we multiply the daily average (945 as of this count) with 365.25, we get ~346,600. Within the last year, the article got around 393,000 hits.
So given these options it's clear the Quarter Million award is appropriate for this. My personal estimate of its annual page views is ~350,000.  Verified. Well done VersaceSpace! ‍ ‍ Your Power 🐍 ‍ 💬 "What did I tell you?"

Hot Pink (album) also qualifies, I believe. See: PageviewsVersaceSpace 🌃 15:08, 31 July 2022 (UTC)

This one is somewhat trickier. Going by the criteria of multiplying page views within the last 90 days (39,989) with the 4.06 factor, we get an estimated annual viewership of 160,000. Within the last year, the article got ~212,000 views. While it saw 332,397 views in 2021, discounting the unusually high spikes (partly due to Planet Her's release), the final result ended up being only 241,000. I don't really feel comfortable giving this the green light(tm), though if you want a second opinion on the matter I would highly appreciate it. ‍ ‍ Your Power 🐍 ‍ 💬 "What did I tell you?"

The list. I think this qualifies as it one is in the all-time Top 100 list. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 10:20, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Verified: Major contributor to article, responded to FLC reviewers. Large spikes at elections and inaugurations, estimating annual pageviews at 4.4 million. Awarded and HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 21:00, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi, I believe this may qualify for an incremental award on reaching GA. Thank you. Coldupnorth (talk) 17:51, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

Verified: Major contributor, responded to GA reviewer. No Main Page appearances since 2020. Recent spike related to the coronation of Charles III. Assessing at 615k pageviews in the 365 days before promotion. Awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 18:27, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

I recently improved this article to GA status. Although the page did see a spike in page views during the past year, it generally has around 2,187 readers a day, or around 766,500 page views a year. I think this may qualify for at least the Half Million Award, since I didn't exclude the spikes from this year. – Epicgenius (talk) 15:49, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

Verified: Primary author, responded to GA reviewer. No Main Page appearances detected. Assessing at 765k views in the 364 days before promotion. Awarded. –

This article was promoted to GA status around two months ago. Just out of curiosity, does it qualify for an incremental award? Sorry, I'm not very good with using the page view feature. Thanks, Unlimitedlead (talk) 12:15, 8 October 2022 (UTC)

Verified: Significant contributor to article. Article was speedily promoted to GA, verified GA nomination. No Main Page appearances detected (until DYK). Article has regular, perhaps weekly, fluctuations in pageviews. Assessing at 370k pageviews in the 365 days before promotion. Awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 12:06, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

I just helped promote this article to GA status today, but it looks like the views from this year are lower than those of the previous year. Would it count for any incremental award? Cheers, Unlimitedlead (talk) 18:08, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

Verified: Significant contributor, responded to GA reviewer. Linked from the Main Page on 30 Aug 2022. Discounting peaks, assessing at 290k views in the 365 days before promotion. Awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 20:24, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

Recently promoted GA; 1.25 million pageviews in the last year. Cheers, Extraordinary Writ (talk) 20:21, 28 October 2022 (UTC)

Verified: Primary author, responded to GA review. No recent Main Page appearances detected. Some pageview spikes, which almost uniformly match spikes on Supreme Court of the United States (pageview comparison). Discounting a bit for the spikes, I am assessing the annual pageviews at 1,050,000. Awarded and HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 17:38, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

Recently promoted FA, and currently today's featured article. I believe it qualified even prior to the (presumed) increase in pageviews as the TFA. Balon Greyjoy (talk) 15:46, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Verified: Primary author, saw FAC through. 1.2 million pageviews in the 365 days before promotion, no main page appearances in that period. Some spikes coinciding with news stories or anniversaries, assessing at 1.16M views. Awarded and HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 13:43, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

Recently promoted to FA. I believe it qualifies for an award. Unlimitedlead (talk) 11:47, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Verified: Significant authorship of article, nominated to FAC and responded to review. Article received over one million pageviews in the 365 days before promotion. OTD Main Page appearance on 29 August 2022. Assessing at 1.1 M pageviews. Awarded and HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 13:39, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Unlogged million awards for FAs

These are all of the featured articles that beat a million views in 2022, but haven't been logged on this page yet. I didn't check for Main Page appearances, but there's not a rule on when exactly that year range has to be, so 2022 is fine. source

Do cross off entries when you've logged or otherwise dispensed of them (leave a note if one doesn't qualify); please don't remove them entirely. I would advise looking for one topic area in the list to knock out (e.g. British monarchy), since we don't wanna spam a prolific author with 5 or 6 templates in different edits. Many thanks!

Also, can we merge the Neil Armstrong rows? Seems reaaal weird that he's listed twice... theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/her) 09:26, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

Good work with these; I've been too busy (obviously) but will check on those below. –  Reidgreg (talk) 02:47, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

I started this article and got it to Good Article status. It had 3.7 million views last year (link)

Am I eligible for the award? CT55555(talk) 20:02, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

Verified: major contributor, saw GAN through. 3.642 million pageviews in the 365 days before promotion: Almost all from 7 April (media attention), with large spike around 25 October. Main Page appearance 7 January 2023. Discounting 1.5 million for the spike. Awarded and HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 04:35, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Recently promoted GA, has crossed the pageview threshold for one of the awards with 8 months still to go for the one-year anniversary of its creation!--NØ 16:12, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

  • Update: The article passed an FAC on April 4. Reidgreg, since you were the last editor to give these out I wanted to ask if you could help me out with this.--NØ 18:11, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
Comment: It seems unusual to me for any article to reach FA within a year of the event/release. I look at 5 years as a general period for potential scholarly research to be published. Of course, I suppose there's no reason not to go to FAC... a FA reassessment can later check to see if it needs additional coverage from newer sources. – Reidgreg (talk) 04:37, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
Verified: Primary contributor, saw GAN and FAC through. Article received 191k views before GA, 278k before FA. Main Page appearance on 19 Nov 2022. Assessing at 270k for FA quarter-million award. Awarded – Reidgreg (talk) 04:37, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Drew 468,000 views between March 2021-2022, promoted to FA on October 9, 2022.--NØ 16:12, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Verified: Major contributor, saw FAC through. The range 29 March 2021–2022 starts just before the release date of 1 April 2021, and is probably the highest 366 days for pageviews the article is likely to get. I usually take the 365 days before promotion or less often the year before promotion, either of which is too low to qualify for an FA Million. However, 4 July 2021 to 3 July 2022 is enough to qualify for a GA Million Award. Awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 04:38, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Article is now GA, which it got over 350,000 views since last year [29]. GlatorNator () 00:33, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Verified: Major contributor, responded to GA reviewer. Article received 352k pageviews in the 364 days before promotion. A few big spikes overlaid on a weekly cyclical pattern. The largest seems to coincide with the release of a DLC pack in October 2022, renewing interest when the subject become a playable character. I'm going to assess at 320k. Awarded. BTW, any reason why the GA2 review came before the GA1 review? – Reidgreg (talk) 11:35, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
Probably a copy paste error when I was new, then the reviewer just started reviewing without noticing it somehow. GlatorNator () 13:08, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Due to the released of Resident Evil 4 remake, the article has recently made into 250k views (estimated to last year) [30]. GlatorNator () 13:30, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

Verified Major contributor, responded to GA reviewer. Pageviews are a bit tight, being very low prior to 10 June 2022. The positive spikes coincide with game releases or announcements. No Main Page appearances detected. I'm going to do this a little differently and look at pageviews between 10 June 2022 and promotion date of 2 May 2023, and adjusting that for (365/324) days. So 250,600 → 282,300, which gives enough leeway to discount for the spikes. Assessing at 250k and awarded. Reidgreg (talk) 12:26, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

GA by me. Promotion diff GAN Readership 2.8 million in the last year (t · c) buidhe 03:09, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Verified Primary contributor to article, responded to GA reviewer. 2.8 M pageviews. The word "Holocaust" has been on the Main Page 288 times, linked 171 times, and linked 15 days during the assessment period of 25 May 2022 to 24 May 2023. These include 3 DYKs and 12 OTD, all non-bolded. However, there are no appreciable pageview spikes on those days. The only appreciable spikes are on 25 June, 2 December, and 27 January. On 24 June, International Conference on the Holocaust and Genocide was TFA, but the entry did not link to this article. 27 January is Holocaust Memorial/Remembrance Day in a number of countries. Assessing at 2,810,000 pageviews. Awarded and HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 12:28, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Article has now became GA. views hit at least 345k. GlatorNator () 13:42, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

Checking... Another in a series of Resident Evil characters.  Verified. Major contributor to article, responded to GA reviewer. No Main Page appearances detected. 345k pageviews in the year before promotion (link), with three big spikes at 17 July, 21 October and 26 March – 2 April. Presumably these are related to press and demo releases for the Resident Evil 4 remake. Assessing at 310k views. Awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 14:35, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

Simón Bolívar

I have finally brought this article to Good Article status. Thus far this year, the article has had 393,346 views. Last year it received 730,860 views. The article has had more in previous years and shall hopefully have more now that I whipped it into shape. –♠Vamí_IV†♠ 13:47, 9 July 2023 (UTC)

Brontosaurus and Titanoboa

Brontosaurus was recently listed as a GA. 403,915 page views in that year before listing, including a spike. Titanoboa was also listed, garnering 617,268 views in the year before listing as well. AFH (talk) 18:56, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

List of Indian Nobel Laureates and Wow! Signal

Maybe for half or quater mil, but these two were promoted to FL and GA respectively quite a while ago. Thanks. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 13:35, 21 August 2023 (UTC)

Verified: Significant contributor, nominated as FAC and responded to reviewers. No Main Page appearances detected in the year before promotion. Assessing the list at 272k pageviews. Pageview statistics don't go back far enough for the Wow! signal, so using July 2015 – June 2016 → assessing at 600k pageviews. Awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 21:22, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
Nobel Prize in Physics to GA too. I forgot about this one. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 03:19, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
Verified: Significant contributor, responded to GA review. Passed GA on 6 May 2015. Pageview stats don't go back far enough, but the baseline has been pretty consistent at about 850 daily views. Assessing at 300k views, awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 17:45, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Written by myself and theleekycauldron, brought to GA by myself with her assistance. Not quite a year in mainspace, but it's not going to hit 500k in the next month, so I'd like to submit this for the Quarter Million Award. 308,568, less 11,696 views from DYK, less 44,087 from a massive 2-day spike in February, equals 252,785. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 04:17, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

no No action: Primary editor (with significant contributions from theleekycauldron). Responded to GA reviewer. Article was created 24 July 2022 and passed GA 13 January 2023. Big pageview spikes 29 Sept 2022 (DYK), 23–24 Feb 2023 (wounded in action), a few others. The median pageviews is only 300. I'm seeing the annual closer to 200k than 250k. Sorry, not awarded. Feel free to seek another opinion. – Reidgreg (talk) 17:46, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Just improved this article to GA today! Pageviews are ~590k for the trailing year, without any Main Page appearances that I'm aware of. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 05:37, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Verified: Primary author, responded to GAN reviewer. Regular weekly spikes, no Main Page appearances detected. Assessing at 580k pageviews in the 364 days before promotion. Reidgreg (talk) 17:46, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Was recently improved by FieryNinja into GA with an article barely reaching 250k total [31] (one year). Impressive work to the user who brought the article into GA. 2001:4455:660:4100:9FA:41C8:6B5A:849F (talk) 11:39, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

no No action: Primary author, responded to GAN reviewer. No Main Page appearances detected. Three big spikes, starting around 9 Feb, 13 April (Tears of the Kingdom trailer) and 13 May 2023 (Tears of the Kingdom release). The pre-release pageviews are pretty low and the post-release pageviews are borderline and in a generally declining trend. I don't feel that this one is high enough to qualify. – Reidgreg (talk) 17:47, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Recently promoted to FA-status. ~2.3 million views in 2022, including a few spikes. Pamzeis (talk) 07:15, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

Verified: Primary author, responded to FAC reviewers. Regular weekly spikes with a big spike on its DYK date. Assessing at 2.1 million pageviews in the 365 days before promotion. Quick turnaround from the GA version, which the user also qualifies for. Awarded both and HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 13:32, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

Just brought by myself to GA, 287k pageviews over the last year and 284k the year before that, with spikes representing its blooming periods. It has not yet appeared on the main page, but will soon with a DYK in the hopper. Fritzmann (message me) 19:12, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

Verified: Major contributor, responded to GAN reviewer. No main page appearances detected prior to its DYK appearance. There seems to be a declining trend in pageviews over the past 8 years but easily qualifies for a quarter-million. Assessing at 285k views and awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 14:12, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

Article recently became GA by user FieryNinja, and I think the oage views since last year could squeezed through [32]. 2001:4455:6FB:8B00:FD9F:DB9:F9CB:6AB (talk) 12:05, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

Verified: User:Fieryninja is the primary author and responded to GAN reviewer (just shy of a quick pass). No Main Page appearances detected (it interestingly showed up on WP:LAME a few years ago). Pageviews have two big spikes: 5–6 March and 11–24 May (around the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom). Assessing at 280k views in the 365 days before promotion. Awarded. – Reidgreg (talk) 14:12, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

Written by myself and passed GA today. Page views over the past year have been 329,916 with average 901 per day.[33] Fieryninja (talk) 08:26, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

Verified: Primary author, put forward GA nomination (pretty much a quick pass). No Main Page appearances since a non-bold DYK link in October 2015. A few pageview spikes. Assessing at 325k views in the 365 days before promotion. Awarded. –  Reidgreg (talk) 15:59, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

Five Nights at Freddy's 2

Was recently promoted to good article status by myself with help from co-nom NegativeMP1, who I would like to share this with. Xtools shows roughly 280,000 pageviews since last year. [34] The Night Watch (talk) 02:52, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

no No action: Major contributors, both of whom responded in GA review. There are some spikes in the pageviews including a very large spike peaking at 29 Oct 2023. Five Nights at Freddy's was TFA on 31 Oct 2023 (the spike predates this). It seems to coincide with the release of the film adaptation, Five Nights at Freddy's (film). The spike is at least 80k views, subtracting it leaves something in the neighbourhood of 200k views. The baseline views aren't high enough to qualify in my opinion, sorry. – Reidgreg (talk) 13:32, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Five Nights at Freddy's 4

Was recently promoted to GA by NegativeMP1. Xtools shows about 352 thousand pageviews in the last year. The Night Watch (talk) 02:52, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

no No action: Primary author, saw GA review through, but same issue as above. The pageview spikes are even hairier. This makes it a bit more complex to count, but the baseline views are below the minimum threshold. – Reidgreg (talk) 13:33, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Recently promoted to GA by me. Xtools shows 817 thousand page views in the past 365 days, with a daily average of 2,240. λ NegativeMP1 18:14, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

Verified: Significant contributor, responded to GA reviewer. No Main Page appearances. A couple big pageview spikes per above, but the baseline is steady. Assessing at 750k views. Awarded. (PS: thanks for the courtesy link to the article!) – Reidgreg (talk) 00:47, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Might this qualify? It was passed at FA last year. Unlimitedlead (talk) 20:10, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Verified: Major contributor, responded to FAC reviewers. Daily pageviews are well above 2k and steady. Based on the year before promotion, assessing at 1.3M pageviews. Awarded and HOF. – Reidgreg (talk) 02:25, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
