Welcome to the Films based on books department of WikiProject Film. The department coordinator is Her Pegship.

Guidelines[edit]

  1. Use only one category as the categories will be linked as subcategories.
  2. DO NOT add a film where the book was written AFTER the film was made; those should go in Film spin-offs.

To do[edit]

1. See the Worklist for links to film articles which need to be checked:

  • Is it really based on written material, and is that material mentioned in the text or links?
  • Are the film and source material articles separate, or does the article need splitting?
  • Does it have the appropriate category/ies?
  • Is it listed on the appropriate source list (see below)?
Remove the article's link from the Worklist when you have finished with it.

2. Update various lists in the Lists of films by source category.

Categories[edit]

Examples[edit]

The Ten Commandments (1956 film) -> Category:Films based on the Bible
Anne of Green Gables (1934 film) -> Category:Films based on children's books
