The Pac-12 will no longer sponsor men's soccer next season, and all of its members that currently sponsor the sport will move to other conferences in 2024. Finchwidget (talk) 21:41, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Templates replaced by MW parser functionality[edit]

Have long been replaced by functionality in the parser almost ten years ago, and it is not too helpful to keep this template linked. A red link is a good enough error message that someone did something wrong when attempting to transclude the template. At the very least redirect to Help:Magic words#equals and Help:Magic words#bang, at the worst delete. Awesome Aasim 20:04, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep I'm not seeing any advantage to deleting these. A redirect would seem to be an even worse solution, as then accidental transclusions would transclude the help page. Anomie 23:20, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That is enough of a sign that someone did something wrong with the transclusion, a red error message could come out as potentially jarring. People are very unlikely to be putting {{!|some additional stuff}} in pages especially new editors, and for those few cases it does happens a bot can fix it. Awesome Aasim 17:49, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • A redirect is categorically wrong here. I think nominating these is a fair suggestion, and I think I'd be inclined to delete them also. Izno (talk) 03:52, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep: These exist in order to display an error message when someone uses a magic word incorrectly. If there is another way to display that error message, please propose it. There a bunch of templates that may be similar to these listed at Category:Pages which use a template in place of a magic word. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:32, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep: In addition to providing errors and categorizing such usage, they also serve to keep people from creating templates with these names (which can be referenced with the msg and msgnw parser functions, etc.) and I believe this should be discouraged (short punctuation template names might be neat but choose a different one). —Uzume (talk) 16:03, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if this template is necessary as the page is blank. There is hidden code but I don't know whether it is serving any purpose. Liz Read! Talk! 18:28, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

only used in one user's sandbox Frietjes (talk) 16:40, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy keep. My sandbox. I literally created this two days ago and haven't deployed it anywhere yet as I'm still fine-tuning. Yikes!
And I'd like to get on with using it! PepperBeast (talk) 12:57, 30 March 2024 (UTC) PepperBeast (talk) 17:11, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to use this template, now. PepperBeast (talk) 03:51, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then use it. This discussion will be open for at least seven days from its creation. Also please document the template and add a category. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:35, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not very usable just now, since every attempted use displays a TFD message. I'm really quite peeved that a brand-new template gets dragged here for being unused, and at the same time is rendered unusable. PepperBeast (talk) 12:48, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
not since your edits to the template. Frietjes (talk) 23:27, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
