Bosniaks (flag)[edit]

Hello again. I would like to just mention that the Bosnian flag of lilies with a golden border is more commonly used nowadays in Bosnia and around the world by Bosniaks compared to the flag without the golden border. The flag is used by many people and organisations, which I have listed below:

It is very rare to see the use of the flag without the golden border, especially nowadays. There is a similar situation to the flag of the ARBiH, in which I have very rarely seen the use of the flag without the golden border. As I stated on the ARBiH Wikipedia article, the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Corps of the ARBiH used the golden border. The picture of the female conscript in her uniform also has the golden border of the flag of lilies.

I understand your logic, but the flag without the golden border seems to have been more commonly used during the Yugoslav Wars (Washington Agreement main picture and File:Flag cemetery Mostar.JPG are examples of this).
Historical accuracy is what matters, not the modern-day accuracy, as this flag is no longer used by any legal government. I am pretty sure the golden border is more commonly used because of Wikipedia.
Also, the document detailing the flag doesn't mention any golden border, so there's that as well. 🔥Jalapeño🔥 Stupid stuff I did 09:29, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I can see from your point of view as well, but I believe that Wikipedia's use of the golden border has had an almost negligible impact on the usage by the Bosniak people. For example, I would find it quite difficult to believe that the SDA, the largest Bosniak political party in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and an icon of Bosniak nationalism, would make such a mistake that they would use the wrong flag of the country that they had created. Even if the SDA had somehow (repeatedly) made such a major mistake in using the wrong flag of their own country, the use of the golden-bordered flag is still much more common among the Bosniak people. From this, and the evidences I provided in my initial comment, the flag on the Bosniaks article should use the golden-bordered version.
We must also keep in mind that the Bosnian flag with the golden border is not something which has just been created on Wikipedia, because there are photos of Alija Izetbegović (the first Bosnian president) with the coat of arms which contains the golden border:
https://www.sda.ba/stranica/alija-izetbegovic-biografija/53
https://5pillarsuk.com/2023/08/07/bosnia-herzegovina-marks-birthday-of-wartime-leader-alija-izetbegovic/
https://www.aa.com.tr/en/life/alija-izetbegovic-vision-was-a-moral-compass-for-life/2011861
https://sarajevotimes.com/the-20th-anniversary-of-the-death-of-alija-izetbegovic-was-marked-in-sarajevo/
So it seems the golden-bordered version was quite commonly used, especially by Izetbegović and his government.
Furthermore, it must also be noted that the use of the ARBiH logo without the golden border has been extremely rare, even during the war. The File:Flag cemetery in Mostar.JPG is one of the only times I have seen an ARBiH flag without the golden border. Even still, this ignores many instances where there is usage of the ARBiH flag with the golden border, such as in File:Bosnian flags in Sarajevo.jpg. Here are some evidences of use of the golden-bordered version:

A female conscript in Visoko in 1992
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgaPDpr-tug (this one is probably the most convincing evidence, as it is an video from ARBiH themselves. It is incredibly unlikely that they have made a mistake with their own logo)
Personally, I have found the use of the golden-bordered flag to be quite common during the war too, perhaps even more common than without the golden border. There are also plenty of videos which do contain the use of the flag of lilies (or just coat of arms) with the golden border, such as:

The flag of lilies without the golden border in the Washington Agreement is a flag probably produced by the American government. It is not the same as the one typically used by the Bosnian government.
Many Bosnian and English sources describe Alija Izetbegović accepting a version of the flag with a golden border, after the colour of it had been changed from silver and the background colour of the flag from light blue to white.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was a very newly established country, and it could have been that due to the urgency of war, many of the flags were produced in a way which was not always faithful to the way the Bosnian government preferred. Some of them had different sized lilies, some had more rounded shields, some had different shades of blue, some without a golden border, etc.
To summarise, there is much more evidence for use of the golden border than without the golden border. Since it seems that the Bosnian government preferred the use of the coat of arms with a golden border, I will revert the changes on the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina to suit this. Likewise, for the flag or the ARBiH, I think it is most historically accurate to change it to the golden bordered version. This is because the overwhelming majority of places containing the ARBiH flag use the flag with the golden border. The flag of the Bosniaks should be the golden bordered version as this is typically what Bosniaks have used from the evidences that I have provided.
