Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

After being topic-banned from darts articles, this ip began making the same types of edits to the puppeteer's articles: see this. And the second ip at these 2 edits. And a third, who has popped up on several of the AfDs about darts, see this. And I just added 6 more who have been working on this draft, which was sent to draft as a result of an AfD. The last one (ending in .18) has been quite active on darts articles since the puppeteer was topic banned, see this. Onel5969 TT me 10:09, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

One last thing, on 30 March JRRobinson left a message on User:Catb2006's talk page (see this, asking for off-wiki contact. In JRR's latest block appeal, he states, "And I didn't get someone to proxy edit, I proxy edited myself, I just asked him to create a page" (see this). Shortly after that exchange, Catb created 2023 US Darts Masters, again solely sourced to primary sources, which the first sock mentioned above then went on to edit. One more added, with this edit. And unfortunately, yet another edit, this one, which I also suspect is another sock.

Might be worth noting that 92.5.214.91 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) made this edit to Draft:2023 International Darts Open, which was an article that JRRobinson created before it was sent to AfD. This IP made the edit just under an hour after JJRobinson's last edit on their talk page and the IP's geolocation matches location-specific articles that JRRobinson has edited. It's not unreasonable that this would be enough time for JRRobinson to notice that the page was undeleted and moved to draftspace because of it being on their watchlist and to log out to edit the draft; if not on a watchlist how else would this IP know about this draft that quickly? Given that JRRobinson has an open unblock request on their talk page I think it might be worth checking into if they're evading their block. - Aoidh (talk) 18:32, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • information Administrator note I don't know that there's much for SPI to do here. CUs can't connect accounts to IPs. The behavioral connection is fairly clear in some cases, but the IPs haven't edited for a week (I recognize that this was not the case when this was opened; but SPI isn't geared for a very speedy response), and I don't think we could justify lengthy blocks when the account is clearly able to hop IPs at will. They are far too different for a range block. We need to play whack-a-mole here, so I suggest reporting pages and IPs to RFPP and AIV as they pop up; those noticeboards will get much faster response times. Hi. I understand that blocking ips is difficult, but can we treat the systemic editing which is behavioral as socking? In terms of dealing with the individual edits? And of course, with identifying the sockpuppeteer?Onel5969 TT me 22:03, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We cannot publicly link IPs to accounts based on CheckUser evidence, but we can do so based on behavioral evidence. MarioGom (talk) 11:22, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • No active editing by IPs listed. Closing. TonyBallioni (talk) 06:09, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the first, newly created account who went directly to one of the puppeteer's articles which had been redirected, see this.

The ip has all of a sudden started to work on the articles of the puppeteer after their block, see this.

Regarding #3, relatively inactive editor, who has now begun to actively edit darts articles, see this.

Regarding #4, newly created account, who went right to the articles of the puppeteer, see this. Onel5969 TT me 10:18, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Good try accusing me of being puppet. You didn't even bother to look into my profile, where I stated that I was mostly active on Polish wikipedia, because I'm from Poland (Polish wiki contributions). And I started editing darts articles, because of your 'contributions' to darts articles. Especially when one of professional darts commentators noticed that suddenly article about Darts Premier League 2023 disappeared, as he was using it when preparing to next tournament. Last year I mostly used darts articles as source for my own purpose, but this year my sources started disappearing, so at least I tried to save them into Drafts, to salvage good work that was made within last years.

  • Not sufficient evidence to block the accounts. IPs have no recent edits. Closing. TonyBallioni (talk) 06:20, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
