Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

User Caliwing and Indidea (currently blocked) use similar inflammatory language in edit summaries and talk pages, and made similar typos: "archited" and "discretit". Both show similar lack of understanding (or disregard) of Wikipedia policies. While these may not be operated by Mnair69, the 3 seem closely linked and coordinated, with particular "insight" into details of Gael Duval's projects, from their earliest edits until now.

Within days, both supported Keep with Mnair69 at AfD, along with other new, single purpose accounts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion//e/_mobile_operating_system

Both supported a complaint about my edits, within 40 minutes of each other:

"User:Yae4 is doing some repeated vandalism on this page. He has removed most of its content, and is acting repeatedly. His tone is not neutral, he is clearly trying to discretit the /e/ project. Caliwing (talk) 06:21, 4 September 2019 (UTC) "

"Agreed mosly with comment above. Actually I'm afraid that it is worse: User:Yae4 edits on the /e/OS page is not neutral and according to what he's trying to post, he's clearly trying to advertize some (competing?) projects like Purism on this page. I think this can NOT be accepted on Wikipedia. Indidea (talk) 07:01, 4 September 2019 (UTC) "

[Note: Puppetry was raised as a possibility here by another editor.]

Indidea:

"17:13, 5 September 2019 diff hist +76‎ /e/ (operating system) ‎ Adding an important information about the supported archited of self-hosted "cloud" components"

"15:27, 5 September 2019 diff hist -659‎ /e/ (operating system) ‎ Removed non-neutral content, and the way it is presented is just an advertisement for Purism. "

Caliwing:

"15:21, 5 September 2019 diff hist +1,670‎ Gaël Duval ‎ Undid revision 913966905 by Yae4 (talk) Undo unnecessary edit by abuser Yae4: it's useful to have a summary of the /e/ in this bio "

"13:27, 3 September 2019 diff hist -629‎ /e/ (operating system) ‎ This is not the place for Purism advertisement! ..." Yae4 (talk) 16:37, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Adding similarity of User Pages between English and French versions, and noting Caliwing's nearly exclusive interest in editing French articles on Duval family and Gael Duval.

Comments by other users[edit]

Accused parties may also comment/discuss in this section below. See Defending yourself against claims.

The connection between User:Mnair69 and the sockpuppets should be kept clear, not obscured. While Mnair69 was not technically one of the sockpuppet account operators, as documented on his talk page, he has a close connection and probably remote employment with e foundation and Gael Duval. His account on Wikipedia appears to be the oldest. He created the /e/ OS page. It is likely he helped with the account recruitment at the /e/ OS deletion discussion, and coordinated with the sockpuppets in /e/ OS talk page discussions and edits. -- Yae4 (talk) 17:57, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk, CheckUser, and/or patrolling admin comments[edit]

 Clerk assistance requested: Please merge to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Mnair69.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:13, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bbb23:  Done and moved to open status. Vanjagenije (talk) 16:25, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Self-endorsed by clerk for checkuser attention - this master was checked about a year ago when one of these articles was put up for deletion and suddenly a whole wave of brand new accounts arrived to vote keep, although TonyBallioni's observation at the time that this topic attracts that sort of behaviour might have been accurate. All three of these accounts stopped editing when Indidea was blocked, which I find suspicious. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 19:15, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Indidea and Caliwing are very  Likely. Mnair69 is Red X Unrelated (different continent as well as other technical data). Blocked Caliwing without tags.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:42, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Clerk assistance requested: As per above, can this be moved back to Indidea? After moving, it can be closed as the likely related accounts are both blocked. –Darkwind (talk) 09:15, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Ivanvector: Welcome back! But you were wearing your clerk hat above. I'm not much in favor of this bouncing back and forth, but if you think it should be "moved back", then I'll go along with TSD's and Darkwind's request. Thoughts?--Bbb23 (talk) 18:06, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbb23, TheSandDoctor, and Darkwind: I have not reviewed any CU data for this case, experience tells me Bbb23's finding is as conclusive as it gets. Since Mnair69 appears to be unrelated to Indidea & co., I think this report should be split off and filed under Indidea as a separate case. Any objections? Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 15:55, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ivanvector: I have no opposition to it. I have done that in the past with some cases where different groups were confirmed (but unrelated to each other) and the like. I boldly did it here, but reverted myself when I realized that the case was moved from Indidea to here and asked instead as it was a more complex situation in my judgement. --TheSandDoctor Talk 18:59, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
