Implausible search term, I can't find any sources in which this is spelled with an Ò. Starts a classic WP:PANDORA's box- we don't redirects like this to every page. Fails WP:RPURPOSE. (NPP action) Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 23:42, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not a widely used alternative name. Not really a suitable redirect. Here's what the creator, @Danubeball said on their talk page about it: Eh, I thought it made some sense since it was a plan by Ecuador to get rid of goats, but in hindsight yeah it isn’t really that suitable as a redirect. [...] Yeah. I don’t want it to be kill-on-site deleted, but if the redirect folds, then I won’t stub my toe over it, feel free to RFD. Thus, here I am at rfd. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 23:09, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Searching with Google and Duckduckgo specifically for 'Ecuador "goat war"' pulls up a handful of hits. Only Newsweek and Youtube videos uses "goat war" and Newsweek only in the title. National Geographic's and New York Times' articles on the topic do not call it a war. ― Synpath 19:48, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Topoli, Kupiansk Raion (rural town) was originally at this title before being moved to its current title by @Johnson524. I can find no RS that this is an alternative name. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 22:40, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: While creating the page Dvorichna settlement hromada, I have also found no reliable, or really any, sources referring to this village as "West Topoli", as stated in my edit description for the redirect to the pages current title. @Edward-Woodrow I have no problem with deleting this redirect, as it is far from the common name. Not a medical expert, so I don't understand why this redirect is going to here instead of Atherectomy. GnocchiFan (talk) 21:52, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak retarget to Atherectomy. (I am not an expert in the medical field) List of MeSH codes (E02) and List of MeSH codes (E04) both use the redirect which may be a reason to keep it around and it gets a handful of clicks a year suggesting it can be helpful. Though Atherectomy only has a passing mention of the procedure being used in coronary blood vessels so the reader won't really be helped. Endarterectomy seems to be a distinct procedure (much more invasive) and the MeSH lists have distinct entries for Endarterectomy and Endarterectomy, carotid. I think it is safe to assume that the current target is not correct. ― Synpath 00:46, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nicolas Cantu[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was move draft over redirect. I see some appetite for doing so and I am convinced by IP2001's arguments that he is notable and appreciate their effort in getting the draft up to snuff. Of course, if anyone disagrees feel free to take the article to AfD. -- Tavix (talk) 22:58, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Too many potential roles to say that any one of them is defining including the current target that describes a character he portrays but has no information about the actor. Better to delete this and let people work on the draft. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:02, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • I tagged this with {{R with history}}. The content may have been copied from Draft:Nicolas Cantu. Multiple IP editors are interested in making this a standalone article. If any of the content in the history is going to be useful to the draft, move without redirect to draft as Draft:Nicolas Cantu (2), or something. And salt the redirect title. Jay 💬 05:22, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Multiple IP editors don't want to follow the draft article process. I don't think the history of this redirect has any value but a history merge could be made with Draft:Nicolas Cantu and the redirect deleted and protected until the draft is ready to be moved out of draft space. My main issue with this redirect is not having a target with any info about the subject and too many potential targets that just mention the subjects name but nothing else of value. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:10, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree this cannot be a redirect, which is why I suggested the move without redirect, which will remove the redirect from this title. And salting it will force them to work in draftspace. I haven't gone through the timelines of the two histories to see if this is a histmerge candidate. Jay 💬 19:11, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think a history merge would work. Last edit on draft article was July 6, 2023, most recent edits to redirect started July 14, 2023. There is one substantive edit to the redirect on Nov 10, 2022. Would take some cleanup afterwords to reflect submission and draft status of remaining draft article. History merge move without redirect would delete the redirect that could then be protected against re-creation until draft is accepted. Geraldo Perez (talk) 19:57, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Histmerge to draft per above and delete and salt. Jay 💬 16:40, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, with no objection to a history merge (although I don't see the point myself) as an WP:XY candidate with mulitple possible targets, none of which have enough substance to warrant a redirect. * Pppery * it has begun... 23:17, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If deleted should still be protected against creation by IPs at least. Let the draft process move the draft article to the location when it is ready. This is one dynamic IP who will move the draft to this location out of process if able to. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:56, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
May I suggest making "this" in "This is one dynamic IP" more specific. I feel addressed, because I'm (2001:1C06:19CA:D600:*) the a) only IP editor who contributed to this redirect discussion, b) last person to edit the Draft extensively. I certainly would not ignore the AfC process. In fact, I undid another IP editors' move from Draft to Main space. By the way, my question above has been ignored, and I can only infer from you and Pppery's statements above ("none of which have enough substance" and "when it is ready") that sufficient notability still has not been established. --2001:1C06:19CA:D600:4F45:2683:FC38:ABAE (talk) 06:12, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
IP range starts with 87. and geolocates to Italy. Notable in the edit history creating an article at the redirect 4 times since mid July. When you think that the article meets at least WP:GNG, use the draft submit process to get it evaluated for a move to article space. Geraldo Perez (talk) 06:39, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Call me crazy, but didn't Cantu have a full page at one point? I went to this page recently and found only the redirect. Maybe I'm crazy, but Cantu definitely SHOULD have a full page, and as such, I'd vote to delete the redirect. DarkSide830 (talk) 22:33, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing redirect that redirects a hereditary title to a disambiguation page The Banner talk 10:53, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Did you look at the page in question? It isn't confusing at all. There's a title. It's been used in multiple contexts that require multiple pages. It should exist and it should point exactly where it is, unless you feel like breaking off three or four of the links on the dab for no particularly helpful reason. — LlywelynII 12:09, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have checked the links. And have seen that the hereditary title is now redirecting to a disambiguation page and not to an actual place. The Banner talk 12:24, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As it should in this situation... so did you actually look at the page in question or is this just a misapplication of a bot somewhere? Reprogram it. — LlywelynII 15:41, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The links should stay red links when they were that before, not links to a disambiguation page. 99.99 percent chance that somebody will try to repair those incorrect links. The Banner talk 16:32, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. As an unopposed deletion nomination. Jay 💬 13:42, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This page was originally a microstub (Special:Permalink/308473291) about a village in Bhagalpur district (in Bihar) when it was moved to Bhawanipur, Bihar. Few months later it was turned into an article about a village of the same name in East Champaran district (also in Bihar), Special:Diff/342880882/355755682. Currently, Wikipedia does not have an article or list describing the village in Bhagalpur. So, the redirect must be deleted. Whether or not a history split is required in parent article, is to be determined independently. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 10:21, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Vabanipu" has no affinity to "Bhabanipur". In IAST, the place name is "Bhavānīpur", which is usually transliterated as "Bhawanipur". In eastern languages (Bengali & Assamese), "v" does not exist, and is replaced by "b", giving rise to "Bhabanipur". "Bhowanipore" is a corrupted form of the word, given by the British colonists. "Vabanipu" is not equivalent to this term by any means. Further, it is found nowhere on Wikipedia. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 10:10, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Agree that the two are not equivalent (Vabanipu is a village in Jagannathpur Upazila, Bangladesh). However not appearing in Wikipedia is not a reason for deletion because a redirect provides a way for a person who has seen a mention outside Wikipedia to find information here. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 12:05, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is more unhelpful than not finding any search results on Wikipedia because the village in Bangladesh is not even mentioned in the dab page. A reader will find themself lost when they come to the dab page and find nothing of relevance. Moreover, the disambiguation page is construed to the term "Bhavānīpur", not other unrelated terms. No film in 2016 with this title, so delete per WP:R#D2 to minimize confusion. The article moved from here → The Price (2017 film)The Price (upcoming film)The Price (unreleased film) where it appears to have gone into development hell, and I just redirected as an WP:ATD-R per a deprod recommendation on my talk page.
