Arthur Harrow[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe#Arthur Harrow. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 01:50, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This link should be retargeted to Characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe#Arthur Harrow where more information can be found about the character. The comic book character of this name is very much a literal one-note character having appeared in a single comic almost 40 years ago, and the character from Moon Knight (TV series) of the same name would be the primary topic and far more familiar to a reader who consumes this media. I think it would make more sense to have this page point to the MCU version, and then have a redirect such as Arthur Harrow (comics) pointing to the comics version. BOZ (talk) 21:46, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per nom and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. In my opinion, many redirects similar to this one should be redirected to their MCU versions as well because their comics targets have little to no information. InfiniteNexus (talk) 22:47, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom -- Zoo (talk) 22:56, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose and suggest retarget as per WP:MCULINKS and other rationale. The comics versions should use the original title without disambiguation, with the MCU versions being separate as for better navigation of these. An Arthur Harrow (comics) redirect would help, but I feel it would be best to potentially expand Harrow's info out from the Moon Knight#Rogues gallery section to the List of Marvel Comics characters: H where information on the comics character can actually be discussed. He only briefly appeared, but should not be disregarded as the original version of the character. I also feel this should be brought up with the MCU taskforce for further discussion, and I've sent a notice to their about this, if other redirects are to be brought up, as we should formulate a consensus on this type of situation. The Wikidata page is also for the comcis version. Trailblazer101 (talk) 23:52, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Until the comics redirect targets are expanded, they provide no information to the reader. Imagine you're looking for information on Arthur Harrow and you get an item on a bulleted list or a redirect to a related article. That's not helpful at all. InfiniteNexus (talk) 00:20, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Leaning support. The TV series character can fairly easily be said to have superseded the comic book character in interest and importance, given his series-long run as a main villain played by a well-known actor. BD2412 T 01:14, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: If you're talking about Arthur Harrow, you're most likely referring to the MCU version. – SirDot (talk) 01:39, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't appear to be a WP:COMMONNAME. Google search leads to the Tokyo Metro site, but not to any results regarding the Tozai Line. XtraJovial (talk) 21:08, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I also want to include these redirects in the discussion:

  • WP:R#KEEP#3 notes that we should avoid deleting redirects that aid searches on certain terms. It seems like a reasonable search term, being that it's the color assigned to a subway line in a major city. As such, we should keep the redirect; that the names are not the single dominant name used to refer to the terms is not a valid redirect deletion reason. — Ⓜ️hawk10 (talk) 21:38, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Mhawk10. No valid reason for deletion. CycloneYoris talk! 01:51, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Help:Score. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 01:48, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think that this should be converted into a cross-namespace redirect, targeting Help:Score. The only times I have ever come across this redirect has been while looking for information on the score extension. The page it currently targets has been dead since 2010 and this redirect doesn't seem to have any backlinks. 192.76.8.74 (talk) 17:57, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. plicit 13:25, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Phase has various meanings, and several of our articles on different kinds of phases contain lists of examples, so it's hard to see why this should point to any one sense. This could be retargeted to the disambiguation page, but we don't usually redirect "list of foos" to "foo (disambiguation)", and I don't see any particular harm in deleting this. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 12:05, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. This is the result of a very old copy-paste move, but I think can be safely deleted. For its current intended meaning, it should really be retargeted to Phase (matter) but is too ambiguous to justify that, and I agree attempting to disambiguate by retargeting to the dab page at Phase doesn't make sense. This avoids a double redirect to Radioactive (album), but there isn't (or isn't any longer) an album called Radioactive by a band called Radioactive. I suggest delete. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 07:21, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Japenglish[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. Withdrawn by nominator. (non-admin closure)Ⓜ️hawk10 (talk) 01:50, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure that Japenglish is actually used as a term to refer to Engrish, and it seems to be the ethnic slur Jap inserted in front of English. The redirect name is not in the redirect target, so it appears that this might be worth deleting. — Ⓜ️hawk10 (talk) 04:32, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, while I'm more familiar with Japlish as a term myself, there are some google hits for Japenglish. Jap by itself is often a slur, but the syllable is also an obvious basis from which to build a portmanteau including Japan/Japanese, so there's not necessarily any ill-intent. CMD (talk) 05:04, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget Keep the target to Engrish, as "Japanglish" is mentioned there. Veverve (talk) 10:33, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, perfectly plausible as a disambiguator for the island, and I would say that is the best target, but the disambiguation page seems a good target as others above have different associations with the phrase. CMD (talk) 05:07, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Would Republic of China be an acceptable target? Or would that be an NPOV violation? I am thinking "Nation of Taiwan" would probably be interpreted most often as a geopolitical expression. - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 22:30, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
