The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Liz Read! Talk! 19:34, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Suggesting this redirect be deleted. It's not really a plausible search term and, as South Dakota cannot get hurricanes, the topic simply does not exist. TornadoLGS (talk) 20:30, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nomination. It's non-existent. Anyway, draftspace pages won't show up in a websearch or from WP's search box, so this redirect helps no one. ---CX Zoom(he/him) (let's talk|contribs) 06:38, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sint Maarten (Netherlands)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Sint Maarten (disambiguation). Liz Read! Talk! 19:31, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I propose retargeting this redirect to Sint Maarten, North Holland, since "Sint Maarten, Netherlands" redirects there too. The current target is not appropriate, because Sint Maarten is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and thus not a part of the Netherlands itself. To avoid possible confusion, a disambiguation hatnote has been added at Sint Maarten, North Holland, per WP:ONEOTHER. โ€” ร†toms [talk] 14:58, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Can also be linked to Saint Martin, already a disambig page. Both have advantages! gidonb (talk) 00:57, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget per gidonb. While I understand the nominator's concern, I feel that a general reader would not know the difference between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Netherlands per se. (Especially here in the U.S., where the latter is generally referred to as "Holland."). - Presidentman talk ยท contribs (Talkback) 05:26, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Sint Maarten (disambiguation), per gidonb. Seems like a good solution! โ€” ร†toms [talk] 11:52, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. Liz Read! Talk! 19:26, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Like Balloon incident nominated below this seems like a rather vague and ambiguous title to redirect to a specific event. Google results are dominated by a meme, but searches show no specific affinity between this title and the Balloon boy hoax. I reccomend deletion. There is an unsourced single line stub in the page history, but it could have been A10 deleted at the time and no content from it was ever merged anywhere, so it shouldn't need keeping. 192.76.8.77 (talk) 19:47, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as vague. Confirming OP's findings on google search results and lack of primary affinity to current target. --Lenticel (talk) 02:29, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at the target, zero results on Google Scholar and Google Books, delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 19:44, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello, I was the creator of this redirect. I initially heard this person's name from the History of Byzantium podcast, the host there has a British accent and the person's name sounded phonetically like "Italiartes." Figured this redirect would be useful for others like me who heard that name that way and was looking phonetically. Royal Autumn Crest (talk) 19:54, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • There's room for an amount of redirects from plausible mishearings, but this one is too particular to one person with one accent's best guess at transcribing something said by another person with another accent. Assuming this podcast host pronounced it something like /ษ™tรฆliหษ‘หtiz/, I can think of half a dozen ways that might be transcribed, and that's without getting to the assumption that the /ษ‘ห/ is a British non-rhotic /r/. So, delete as too arbitrary. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 03:39, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like a rather broad and ambiguous title to redirect to such a specific page. There have been a number of other balloon related incidents that could also be plausible targets, e.g. Balloonfest '86. My !vote is for deletion. 192.76.8.77 (talk) 19:40, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is apparently the name of a band that Falcon Heene started years after the events of the Balloon boy hoax. This band isn't mentioned in the target article (nor should it be IMO) so this redirect doesn't make a lot of sense. 192.76.8.77 (talk) 19:35, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is no mention of any kind of "Aluminum man" in the target article. Google results are dominated by some sci-fi books and a film. 192.76.8.77 (talk) 19:31, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Vector[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to The Vector (newspaper). Liz Read! Talk! 06:16, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to The_Vector_(newspaper) - Nothing else listed at Vector has a "The" in it, so I don't see why The Vector goes to disambiguation when there is nothing really to disambiguate. casualdejekyll 01:50, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep as is ships frequently are called "the XYZ", and there are several ships listed -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 05:55, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget per nom. Ships aren't typically singled out in the way suggested, see, e.g., The Crown. Like The Crown, The Vector would probably have a hatnote if this is done. Dan Bloch (talk) 18:26, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • The Vector is just a student newspaper, it doesn't have a massive circulation like The Times does, nor its prominence in reporting, "The Crown" is widespread in caselaw. Thus it should be kept as is -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 13:50, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It does not require a WP:CRYSTALBALL to know that Italy will participate in this planned event they are hosting and undoubtedly already preparing for, the only issue that we do not have any useful information about that participation. • Delete RFD is much simpler than other deletion processes because there is really only one simple rule: "will this redirect help readers find content they are looking for?" In this case I think the answer is a clear no as this is written in a dead language that is going to be on any keyboard. Beeblebrox (talk) 23:52, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: This is his name in Akkadian, the language of an empire which the target's father Nabopolassar worked to connect his rule to, as explained in the article. It might be worth considering since this text was mentioned in the target at the time of the redirect's creation. Regards, SONIC678 00:49, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Because lots of people are logging on to Wikipedia with their devices that support an Akkadian keyboard, and those people only know his (alleged, unsourced) name in Akkadian and will type that in looking for this article instead of "Nebuchadnezzar II" which they somehow don't know is the common name now? Seems kind of unlikely to me. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:33, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Keep: This Akkadian name used be a part of the article when redirect was created, and was so until this edit removed it for lacking citations. I believe this is a very harmless redirect, and may simply remain there. ---CX Zoom(he/him) (let's talk|contribs) 06:16, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete No one is going to type this into the search box and so this redirect is useless. StellarHalo (talk) 09:22, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep per CX Zoom. Whether people will type it into the search box is irrelevant as that is not the only way of navigating to Wikipedia articles - links are a thing and people can also copy/paste into internal or external search engines, URL bar searches, etc, etc. Thryduulf (talk) 22:33, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep; reasonable copy-and-paste. โ€”โ€‰J947 โ€ก message โ“ edits 02:07, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Redirects are cheap, and it is plausible that it could be a copy-and-paste from some other website about the Akkadian language or something. Bonoahx (talk) 10:26, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Redirects exist for people who are searching for something that might not be the first place where you'd find it. Unless someone from several thousand years ago traveled through time and is now looking for this article, it doesn't seem very useful. Royal Autumn Crest (talk) 18:43, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Per WP:RDEL#K5 and WP:CHEAP. If a single person finds a redirect useful, a redirect is justified, unless it creates harm for someone else. I can see not any harm coming from this redirect. The argument that people don't have Akkadian input methods doesn't fly, because someone obviously did. Paradoctor (talk) 19:46, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
