Not useful. There's no reason to redirect to a jawiki policy, and if we were to retarget this internally it would be to Wikipedia:Protection policy - but we generally don't have redirects in project-space from other languages per WP:RFOREIGN. Delete. This is a very bad translation of latin. "Punctum nervosum" means 'nerve point', not 'nervous puncture'. Coastside (talk) 20:27, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was soft delete. Based on minimal participation, this uncontroversial nomination is treated as an expired PROD (a.k.a. "soft deletion"). Editors can request the article's undeletion. plicit 03:05, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The correct name is Magyar Államvasutak. That, as well as the title without diacritics, are plausible. This redirect contains an incorrect diacritic and is thus implausible, as well as only having 142 pageviews dudhhrContribs 19:57, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is Japanese for "Steamed white fish". It's a dish vs. a fish. There are no topics on the dab page that fit other than the general Whitefish (fisheries term) and that article really has little to do with Japanes cuisine. I don't see any compelling reason to keep this redirect. Coastside (talk) 18:54, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. There is no particular affinity for the Japanese culinary phrase for any topic in this English-language encyclopedia. BD2412 T 04:09, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Alice wells[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Alice Wells. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 05:52, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is a surprise redirect, in that it goes to Alice Stebbins Wells, when Alice Wells exists. Just deleting it will make "alice wells" go to Alice Wells GRuban (talk) 14:54, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Alice Wells to avoid WP:ASTONISHment, as is the precedent with stuff like Walt disney and John f. kennedy. I get it, the current target's subject was the only Alice Wells on Wikipedia for a little more than eight years, but it no longer makes sense to redirect there, as there's also Alice Wells. Plus, it still gets a decent number of pageviews, like 127 last year, so it's occasionally helpful. Regards, SONIC678 17:35, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect per nom, but I also note that apparently "Alice Wells" was the birth name of Alisa Wells, and there is a city named "Alice" in a "Jim Wells County" in Texas, and I think there may be enough to disambiguate the name. BD2412 T 04:13, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete because of the lower case last name. I went ahead and added "Alisa Wells (born Alice Wells; November 26, 1927 – January 5, 1988)" to Wells (name) since that entry was missing. If the idea is to keep Alice G. Wells as the primary topic, then in the hat note I would use {{Other people|Alice Wells|Wells (name)#Surname}}. The other alternative is to create a human name disambiguation page for people named Alice Wells and link the hatnote to that page. Coastside (talk) 15:54, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Alice Wells per Sonic678, regardless of what content is at that title - if Alice G. Wells is primary it should lead to her article, if she isn't then make a disambig primary and point the redirect to it. Thryduulf (talk) 17:11, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep This has now been rectified, the list is incomplete and was likely created from articles in a category. This shows he played for them, and them only, so redirect is suitable. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 12:29, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thom Yorke's live band[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus. --BDD (talk) 15:22, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should delete this - can't think of why anyone would search for this term, and it's confusing, as Thom Yorke has performed with more than one live band - Radiohead, Atoms for Peace (band), the Smile (band). Looks like it was created before Atoms for Peace, the band Yorke formed to perform his solo material, had a name. Popcornfud (talk). 11:38, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: I just got a notification about this redirect that I forgot I made. I support the deletion on the basis that it's confusing and no longer useful. Popcornfud is indeed correct, this was where the Atoms for Peace article was before that band's name was announced but after they had performed several concerts as either an unnamed band or just billed as "Thom Yorke". I redirected the contents of that article to Atoms for Peace (band) once that name was officially announced. This could have probably been deleted years ago. Doc StrangeMailboxLogbook 13:51, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - the Atoms for Peace article was created at this title and lived there for three months; {{R from move}} applies. There is a small amount of incoming activity which suggests a very stale external link somewhere. Since the external link likely refers to that band and not Yorke's other live work, those hits should land on this article and not a more general article, but redirecting to Thom Yorke (which lists all of his musical projects) would also be useful. Ivanvector's squirrel (trees/nuts) 14:43, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There is a small amount of incoming activity which suggests a very stale external link somewhere
I think that might just be me regularly stumbling on the link while adding Thom Yorke links via the Visual Editor - I often work on Radiohead articles. The page is only linked to on some bot/talk pages (see the What links here results), thanks to its nom for deletion here. Popcornfud (talk) 15:07, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What I mean is that in the three months that the article existed under the former title, it's possible that a website download a copy of Wikipedia to serve as a mirror (there are numerous such sites on the web, very few of them ever update their pages), and so an existing link from that mirror could be pointing to this title, and those could be the page hits seen in the stats. See WP:LINKROT. It's not possible to see what site external links are coming from, and even if we could we can't edit those sites to fix the link anyway. Ivanvector's squirrel (trees/nuts) 16:32, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. To me that doesn't seem like a super major thing to worry about, but hey. Popcornfud (talk) 19:29, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as ambiguous per nom. The way the redirect is worded (which is not the name the band was called as), makes it harder to retarget or convert to a disambig page. Jay (Talk) 19:55, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Ivanvector's squirrel. The target is not ambiguous in actual usage, {{R from move}} definitely applies and even if it didn't retaining the redirect would be harmless. Thryduulf (talk) 13:04, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ugh. I had done this 5 years ago because at the time I could not find enough information about this personage to justify creating an article. And had forgotten I had created this redirect. This redirect should be deleted as there is no valid target. It was originally created in reference to Tropical Depression Eighteen (2021) (see other discussions on this page for Tropical Depression Eighteen and Tropical Storm Sam), but it is not a valid title for this topic as Eighteen exists as a redirect with no edit history linking it to this cyclone. Not mentioned in target, although 10 years ago it was the Department of Technical Education so it made sense then. No current uses in WP. Note BOTE is already in use. Recommend deleting. MB 01:38, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really know, hence the ? in my comment... I now think disambiguate per MB the IP and others is the best option anyway. Department of Technical Education can be added to the disambiguation page if others feel it is warranted. I will boldly retarget Department of Technical Education (India) to Department of Technical Education but of course anyone is free to revert this if they feel it should stay at the current target. The result of the discussion was keep from an implementation perspective, although this was expressed as retarget in the discussion since the status of the redirect as listed here was not a stable status quo ante. Given that an additional editor chimed in since Jax 0677's request for more input, and that the decision is essenially unanimous, I'm going to go ahead and close this discussion as is. signed, Rosguill talk 18:02, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to have an open discussion about this redirect, which was originally pointed at Hostility. --Jax 0677 (talk) 01:10, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Belligerent. The word Bellicose means favoring or inclined to start quarrels or wars. The etymology comes from Latin bellum = war. The article on Hostility does not mention war, so I think the redirect was inappropriate. Belligerent is the most appropriate target I can find. There is no page on Bellicosity, but if you search for it, you will find Bellicose. Agnerf (talk) 15:44, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Per nom. This name would not necessarily be reused every year, as not every hurricane season has that many systems, but tropical depression numbers are reused frequently enough that any redirect will have to specify the year. TornadoLGS (talk) 01:03, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody would search for this. There is subsection of Eddie Murphy devoted to television nor is there any show with this title. Notfrompedro (talk) 00:17, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Keep per Jay. I should have checked the current target for mentions and surmised this referred to a production label of some sort. The lowercase WP:DIFFCAPS version Eddie Murphy television does not exist, but would be a valid redirect for Eddie_Murphy_filmography#Television. Since that redirect does not exist, it makes the uppercase version a more useful search term for the production context. Mdewman6 (talk) 21:01, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Delete. On second (or third I guess?) thought, we currently have little information about the production company, other than three mentions in 2 articles that simply implies it exists. I agree the company should be described at Eddie Murphy Television Enterprises, and as I indicated above, at least some searchers using this as a search term are interested in his television filmography rather than our meager content about the production company. Instead of having a {{R from short name}} redirect for a topic that WP barely describes, let's delete to defer to search results and further encourage article creation at the full name of the production company.
