Santosh Gupta (actor)Actor  (talk · links · history · stats)     [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]

I am waiting for an article here. I have currently targeted the redirect to Actor, which is a broad category. Here, I am listing my own redirect at RfD. Neel.arunabh (talk) 18:37, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete I'm pretty sure no one is ever going to search for this particular actor when they actually wish to read about the general concept of actors. PianoDan (talk) 19:04, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Neel.arunabh, if you want the redirect to be deleted, you can have it deleted under the G7 speedy deletion criterion. Is that what you want? Sdrqaz (talk) 22:37, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. If this meets WP:N, create an article, but as it is the Actor article contains no useful information about this individual, whoever he is. feminist (talk) 06:40, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • See the first point of RfD: If you want to replace an unprotected redirect with an article, do not list it here. But since you have both redirected to a broad target, and listed it here, Delete. Jay (talk) 18:48, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible, not mentioned at the target page. Cabello's song "Never Be the Same" is not alternatively titled "Same". NØ 18:07, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy delete, created by me, probably misled by a not-so reputable, speculative source back then. No sign of existence of the song or title. Lk95 (talk) 18:48, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Restore this version of List of food days before a chainsaw was taken to it last July. Limiting a list like this to wiki-notable entries is silly. The vast majority of verifiable National Food Days are not notable enough for an article, but they are noteworthy enough to be on a list like that to get a sense of how ridiculous (for a lack of a better word) this topic is. Once that version is restored, I do agree the truly unverifiable entries should be removed—but it does have a sizable reference section so I don't think too much work would be needed. -- Tavix (talk) 21:11, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The culling of the content at that article was briefly discussed at Talk:List of food days#Mass deletions, or a.k.a missing pecan cookies. – Uanfala (talk) 00:41, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    Pinging Drmies regarding Tavix' proposal. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 03:47, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • User:Tavix, as I explained, particularly in edit summaries, that list was trash, and sourcing for the entries I removed was non-existent or unacceptable--and by "unacceptable" I mean either the kind of little local newspaper articles which can never establish nationwide notability, and frequently just parrot the PR from the local or national trade organization, or the press releases of said organizations. Nothing but marketing, along the lines of "pumpkin squash capital of the world".

I mean, you are going to proclaim February 5 as "World Nutella Day" because of this, a piece of nothing on a nothing blog based on a commercial stunt that isn't even listed on www.nutella.com anymore? Seriously? World Nutella Day? Drmies (talk) 15:35, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

      • Yup, that's usually how these things get proclaimed. That's part of the "fun" of this topic. -- Tavix (talk) 19:41, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Wholeheartedly agree with the viewpoint of Tavix. The ever popular practice of restricting lists to entries that have only Wikipedia articles, and not allowing entries that are verifiable, but not noteworthy enough for an article creates a list that is not made from a neutral point of view since it is skewed into presenting or favoring a lopsided view of the subject because they are built to intentionally exclude minority viewpoints. Delete, unless there is an appropriate local target for this page. Sending readers to non-English content is not helpful. Additionally, the plain {{soft redirect}} template is not used in the mainspace (along the lines of the sentiment expressed at WP:SOFTSP). See here for precedents. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 08:45, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom and WP:REDLINK. He is mentioned in several articles, but as he was a notable player for several seasons for both Rochdale and Bolton Wanderers (and at a cursory glance neither spell was more or less notable than the other) redirecting to either team would present XY issues, and also disguise that we lack an article. Thryduulf (talk) 13:45, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. As I recall, the only reason we don't have a CSD for soft redirects to other languages is that they're too rare; I really can't think of a situation where one would be beneficial... The closest I can think is if we soft-redirected to an article on a wiki whose language is mutually intelligible with English, but even that would bring REDLINK concerns. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 19:45, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently the title of a nonnotable film shown at this festival, but not mentioned in the festival article. EEng 01:47, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Revert per WP:BLAR (without prejudice to AfD), this was quite an extensive article before being unilaterally redirected. Also, Disambiguate, as there are at least half a dozen other dab mentions. I've created Draft:You Only Die Twice (disambiguation) but it needs a lot of work (which is why I didn't create it directly in article space). Thryduulf (talk) 03:49, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am the author of the article and would be very glad to receive help re-installing it. I never understood the quick redirection nor the given reason of being "nonnotable". It was (partly after the article was posted, to be honest) a very successful movie (third most seen domestic film in Israeli theaters in 2018) with more prices and awards than many films featured here on wikipedia have. See imdb https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8497762 and German Wikipedia https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Der_Mann,_der_zweimal_starb Did this discussion start because of now achieved noteworthiness the film or the ironic fact, that there is a 2021 film by the same name? --Fschoepf (talk) 08:47, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I was wrong about the nonnotability, but it certainly makes no sense for the page to be a redirect to the film festival. The last version of the article before it was overwritten by the redirect is here [1]; it does need more sources to establish notability. EEng 11:24, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
RfD will not delete article content behind a redirect unless it (a) would be speedily deleted, or (b) has been discussed and determined not be suitable as an article, neither apply here so the content should be restored. If you think the film is not notable then you are free to take it to AfD after it is restored. Thryduulf (talk) 13:57, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure who you're talking to. I didn't realize there was an article behind the redirect when I nominated it. Like I said, all I know is that the redirect is inappropriate. EEng 18:23, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong revert to article version, to at the very least have a deletion discussion about it. Geschichte (talk) 11:17, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Revert to the article version per WP:BLAR. Expansion or AfD can be done afterwards. --Lenticel (talk) 01:43, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was no consensus. For what it's worth, the only mentions on Wikipedia of "Comptel Data Systems" are cycling related. -- Tavix (talk) 00:44, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A cycling team once sponsored by this comapny is not a good target for the redirect. Note that Comptel Data Systems, LLC (linked in the current target article) is red. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 19:49, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment cycling teams are frequently called by their sponsor names as their proper name, so it would be what one would be search for if one were searching for a cycling team. Whether this is deleted or not, a redirect at Comptel Data Systems (cycling team) should be created -- 64.229.90.53 (talk) 21:49, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - per #5 at the redirect deletion criteria. Highly unlikely that anyone searching for "Comptel Data Systems" would actually be searching for a cycling team that this company once sponsored twenty years ago. -- Euryalus (talk) 23:55, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment if you were looking up information on a cycling team by that name from news articles from that era, then you would be looking for "Comptel Data Systems", so that's why I think that a Comptel Data Systems (cycling team) should atleast exist. -- 64.229.90.53 (talk) 03:38, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: Just plainly not a plausible redirect target. Ravenswing 15:48, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as a {{R from former name}}. I've created Comptel Data Systems (cycling team) and Comptel Data Systems cycling team as suggested by the IP, but as far as I can tell the formal name of the team was just "Comptel Data Systems" and the company does not appear to be notable, so the article would be at this title if the sponsorship was current.
