December 21[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on December 21, 2021.

Joel Dean[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was disambiguate. There is no consensus to make the economist the primary. @Jay: I suggest you start an RM. IP65's point about the page history is reasonable, but there is no consensus to restore, so I'm moving the page to Joel Dean (Dean & Deluca), redirecting that to Dean & Deluca, and copy-pasting Jay's draft DAB back to Joel Dean with edit-summary attribution. IP65, if you want to un-BLAR, that's your right. (non-admin closure) -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 08:39, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This page used to be a biography of the founder of Dean & Deluca. It was redirected to that page in 2020 by AleatoryPonderings (a decision that's a little questionable, given that he had an NYT obit—how thorough was your WP:BEFORE?), but even if his standalone biography is restored, it's unlikely to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC over Joel Dean (economist), one of the founders of business economics. Also, when the page was redirected, the hatnotes were not added to Dean & Deluca, so someone who searches for Joel Dean looking for the economist is currently in trouble. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 19:25, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disambiguate since both the D&DL guy and the economist have notability. Chumpih. (talk) 19:43, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate, including Joel Deane. And, Sdkb, WP:BEFORE is a policy about deletion, not redirection; you could just have reverted the redirect if you wanted. AleatoryPonderings (???) (!!!) 20:04, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Template:R from alternative spelling. wbm1058 (talk) 19:20, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This should target Template:R from alternative spelling, where Template:R from alternative punctuation currently targets. Mdewman6 (talk) 22:21, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget per nom. Argument makes a lot of sense. Also, I love discussing an R shell at RfD. It feels quite meta. snood1205(Say Hi! (talk)) 23:16, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Spelling is not punctuation, the scope of spelling should be limited to A–Z. wbm1058 (talk) 20:07, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chega[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was disambiguate. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) free Hong Kong 10:17, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect initially went to Chega, Iran, a village of under 150 people. It now, rather confusingly, redirects to Chega (political party). Searching on Google Books for "Chega Andre Ventura" (the founder and leader of the party) there are books specifically on the party or as part of a wider treatise on nationalism. "Chega Iran" in Google Books mostly lists one-off mentions in gazettes. However, a third use of the name was a 2,500-page official report by the Commission for Reception, Truth and Reconciliation in East Timor, a very serious and notable topic. In my opinion, "Chega" should be a disambig, or a link to the Timorese commission, no preference. Unknown Temptation (talk) 19:14, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Revert back to Chega, Iran per nominator. Aasim (talk) 21:07, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jenshin Impact[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. plicit 00:11, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

For one, this spelling is the wrong pronunciation. Genshin is pronounced with a hard G (as in groceries). For another, this typo seems like a completely implausible spelling. In the year that I have played Genshin, I have never heard anyone try pronouncing it like this title. Google Trends data also shows that Jenshin is almost never searched. The Genshin being pronounced like a J is lit a meme after this happened on the Game Awards. But nonetheless this is not at all a plausible search term. Aasim (talk) 18:33, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. I suppose one could make an argument that G and J are two keys apart on a QWERTY layout, but it seems highly unlikely that anyone would genuinely search for "Jenshin Impact", and not as a joke. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 20:08, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Not a spelling variant. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 22:34, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WrestleMania XXXVI[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Wrestlemania 36. Jay (talk) 22:07, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

XXXVI is 36, not 32, delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 18:05, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy delete: Per WP:R3 as this is an implausible typo from a recently created redirect (like a redirect created a month ago, that is pretty recent). Aasim (talk) 18:34, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If it belongs anywhere it would be Wrestlemania 36 though I’m not sure it’s needed since while some of the previous events have used Roman numerals the last on to do so was in 2014.--67.70.101.198 (talk) 04:39, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete looks like a mistake on the originating editor's part, not an attempt to Romanize everything above 30 given the other edits surrounding it. Not needed. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 22:52, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to WrestleMania 36. Even if Roman numerals are not used for this specific event, the fact that they have been used in the past may lead someone to assume that all events are in Roman numerals, thus making this a plausible search term. -- Tavix (talk) 22:47, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to the 36th one -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 20:22, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to WrestleMania 36 per Tavix. We already mentioned the target here. 2405:9800:BA31:F6:2D51:E764:39B6:55EA (talk) 08:16, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was soft delete. Based on minimal participation, this uncontroversial nomination is treated as an expired PROD (a.k.a. "soft deletion"). Editors can request the article's undeletion. -- Aervanath (talk) 09:26, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to disambiguation page. As there seems to be no primary topic, the current redirect at Church of the Martyrs will be deleted and the disambiguation page moved to that title. -- Aervanath (talk) 09:23, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget first or second (probably first). But I can hardly find anything even after extensive googling using "Church of Martyrs". --Northumber (talk) 20:04, 6 December 2021 (UTC) WP:SOCKSTRIKE -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 08:09, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget per above. --2405:201:9002:E06A:D86A:DA7F:4918:86BB (talk) 13:25, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Lenticel is right that the first term is vague, but the DAB adequately serves to disambiguate it. If someone was looking for churches and martyrs in general, a "See also" link to Martyrdom in Christianity can be added at the end. Move DAB to Church of the Martyrs; retarget other one there. To be clear, @closer: This is substantially the same thing as the retarget both !votes. It's just foreseeing what would happen immediately after that, which is the DAB being reversed per WP:MALPLACED. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 08:18, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Unused by redesign & deprecation (2015). As a Chembox subtemplate, it would only be called from the main template i.e., no public calls. Therefor, [not] called from main template only. Current target is nonsense (Null sink/error trigger). No use for distracting variant names in the subtemplate list. From maintaining main {{Chembox}}, I'd say technical and non-controversial cleanup only. -DePiep (talk) 04:47, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: Sound reasoning in the nom. If the only way to call it via another template that does not do so (since it uses the target), then this will not break anything. -- 2pou (talk) 17:59, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
