The result of the discussion was withdrawn. Page made into disambiguation (non-admin closure) CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 22:11, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in target article. CrazyBoy826 (talk | contribs) 21:40, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Mentioned in the "also known as" field in the infobox of the target. I'd suggest disambiguation; drafted below the redirect. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 22:04, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cänräzig[edit]

The result of the discussion was speedy withdraw. Was not expecting this many different alternate transliterations, and confirm that one of them does match. I question the utility of creating some of these, but given the lack of an obvious other target that this could get confused for, I don't think it's worth the effort to delete them. signed, Rosguill talk 20:19, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at the target, I can't find any coverage of this term on Google Scholar. Delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 20:06, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Turkish slap[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. signed, Rosguill talk 05:46, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have to assume "Turkey slap" derives its name from the animal and not the country. Getting the sovereign nation of Turkey involved does not seem fair. In all seriousness, I looked up 'Turkish slap' looking to see if there is a page on the so called 'Ottoman slap' and was led in a different direction. I can't imagine anyone typing in 'Turkish slap' is actually looking for 'Turkey slap' which is essentially an Urban Dictionary term which gained short notoriety from Australian Big Brother. This might be much ado about nothing, but I'm nominating it nonetheless. ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 18:47, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was speedy deleted. By Fastily per G7. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 07:09, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in the target, and best as I can tell these organizations/initiatives are not related despite having similar goals. Delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 18:44, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: I made an error when I created the redirect. I was misleaded by the Birth to Five Policy Alliance that, I notice now, it is not the same that First Five Years Fund. Alexcalamaro (talk) 19:00, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy delete G7. @Ged UK: please reconsider your decline. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 07:22, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Shhhnotsoloud: G7 simply doesn't apply in this case, as the author of the page didn't request deletion. GedUK  07:59, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • As the author of the page, I have added G7 template to the top of it. Alexcalamaro (talk) 19:09, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Royally questionably plausible misspellings[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus. signed, Rosguill talk 05:45, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

These redirects didn't seem to get many pageviews in 2019 compared to their targets, and we also have the correctly spelled counterparts. While there are some plausible misspellings of "royal," "royally," "royalty," etc., these (like "royaly" for "royal" rather than "royally," which would make more sense)...seem royally questionably useful, since the Y key is fairly far from both the A and L ones on a keyboard. Regards, SONIC678 23:02, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep Roayl rumble per pageviews; these are all completely useless to nominate. J947 [cont] 23:07, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Royla Letters patent, feel free to change this one, I have no objection. If it is a useful misspelling redirect feel free to tag as such and leave. Either way. CaribDigita (talk) 23:33, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all per nom. All of these redirects seem unnecessary, since correctly spelled counterparts already exist. CycloneYoris talk! 00:33, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all They are obvious typos and not useful. −Woodstone (talk) 06:47, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all. Unambiguously created in error, useless clutter. Narky Blert (talk) 06:58, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all. Unambiguous errors. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:32, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I don't really have a preference here and was intending on closing this, but I do want to call out the above arguments as not being great. These are redirects, so obvious typos where correctly spelled counterparts already exist are totally fine. One or two do appear to have been made in error, but that these typos are errors do not make a good case for deletion. The nominators statement seems fine and I'm fine with these being deleted, but I was uncomfortable relisting (supervote, etc.) and so felt I should say something. ~ Amory (utc) 11:40, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    • @Amorymeltzer: "Deleting pages unambiguously created in error" is a deletion criterion of WP:G6 for uncontroversial maintenance, which is precisely what I consider this to be, and that's what I meant, but I abbreviated my remarks. I will try to use the entire phrase in future. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 07:28, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • Thanks, that is clearer; unambiguous errors alone sounds like a suggestion that these should be deleted because they are typos. AFAICT, only one of the four remaining redirects is clearly and unambiguously created by mistake, so I wouldn't think that logic would apply to the others. Moreover, I do not consider G6 to apply based on age alone — these are all well over a decade old. ~ Amory (utc) 09:48, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • DELETE! THIS COULD ALSO REFER TO THE QUIET HOURS IN HOTELS, UNIVERSITIES, ETC.! BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT WOULD WARRANT AN ARTICLE!! (sorry, did I violate quiet hours?) Either way, it's still kinda ambiguous. Regards, SONIC678 03:02, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Electoral history of George Bush. signed, Rosguill talk 05:40, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect would be targeted appropriately if "W." were inserted in the title. Without it, the title could be confused with the former George Bush. Paper Luigi TC 16:05, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting points you've brought up. I think a retargeting to your new redirect is the most appropriate solution. Paper Luigi TC 16:22, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Prior to my edit, this article pointed to a section in an article about the 2004 United States presidential election. I changed the target to John Kerry, but it seems his middle name is Forbes, which does not begin with an L. Since the redirect in question is erroneous, it should be deleted. Weird recently created CNR. If any user creates their account with this name they are going to be extremely confused. Unsure whether to nominate User:Soumyabrata as well; I think it's best that Soumya-8974 registers that as a doppelganger account. J947 [cont] 03:25, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Åby[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Aby (disambiguation). While editors were generally undecided, nobody seemed to be under the impression that this wasn't a suitable target. Defaulting to accommodate English-speakers, rather than potentially more orthographically correct Nordic-language speakers, seems reasonable. I also note that there's some (unfortunately unreferenced) text at Å#International_transcription that suggests that Swedish speakers sometimes simplify Å to A. signed, Rosguill talk 04:17, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What's appropriate for "Åby"? Should Åby redirect to disambiguation page Aaby with ambiguous terms listed there (as it currently does), or should Åby redirect to Aby (disambiguation) (noting that Å isn't A but it isn't Aa either)? Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 17:03, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to DAB page Aby (disambiguation). I invoke WP:ASTONISH. Most English-speakers are hopeless with diacritics, even if they can work out how to type them. No-one who types in "Åby" should be surprised to find themselves looking at a page of the same name but without the diacritic; it's usual WP practice. However, they might well be surprised to find themselves looking at the apparently unrelated page Aaby.
(I would have been one of those surprised, so I did some research. Danish isn't one the five or so major European languages I read with some comfort, so I looked up Å. I learnt that Danish spelling was changed in C20 to replace "aa" by "å"; although the old usage has survived (the way it does; no-one spells Goethe's name as the phonetically-identical modern-looking Göte) in some placenames such as Aalborg and Aabenraa, even though they are no longer the official spellings.) Narky Blert (talk) 10:27, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good points. I needed to sleep on this question before formulating an opinion. I'd oppose a merge, because Aby and Aaby don't look the same. I'd be strongly in favour of moving or duplicating entries if that would help readers get quickly and efficiently to their desired targets. Narky Blert (talk) 03:44, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Neutral as someone who actually understands this diacritic. It does not matter whether this targets Aaby or Aby, because both suitably disambiguate the term. Glades12 (talk) 17:15, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
