This search shows potential redirect targets, no significant coverage in any of them, name mentions only. Current redirect target is just one of them and just mentions name too. Better to have nothing at this location than a useless redirect to a target with no information about the subject. Geraldo Perez (talk) 19:31, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Wikipedia. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) 05:13, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"The free encyclopedia" could potentially refer to any Wikipedia language. I wish to propose a retarget to Wikipedia. Searingjet (talk) 15:00, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: I originally stated to "Keep" this redirect since it is in English, but seems that the Simple English Wikipedia also uses this phrase. Steel1943 (talk) 23:32, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: With the exception of random vandalism, this redirect targeted Wikipedia from April 2005 until August 2018 ... which at that time was WP:BOLD-ly redirected without discussion (diff). Steel1943 (talk) 23:36, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: Scarcely visited and ambiguous in nature, it is not a good idea to encourage choosing such titles. In the event that someone went through the trouble of searching this phrase, Wikipedia's search engine helps. Its change of target in 2008 is an instance of a Warnock's dilemma and doesn't mean anything. flowing dreams (talk page) 06:56, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Do not delete. I have no preference over "keep" or "retarget". Sure, it may be a bit meta, but it is clearly the tagline for at least one Wikipedia. Steel1943 (talk) 20:40, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Wikipedia per nom. --Soumyabrata (talksubpages) 17:53, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Wikipedia – per nom, it could refer to any language, and there is no need to encourage creation of WP:FORREDs for other language Wikipedias (though those that exist already aren't really doing much harm). Do not delete, though: it seems like a common search term, especially for those curiously searching slogans, and 200+ pageviews in the year preceding this RfD is not very scarce.
