September 23[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on September 23, 2019.

Railway World[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Procedural close due to article creation. Yes I'm both not an admin and involved in this discussion, but this is clearly the right course of action and I doubt anyone minds. (non-admin closure) signed, Rosguill talk 13:55, 1 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not currently mentioned at the target (also it seems like the target should likely be moved to List of rail transport periodicals), with no indication of whether this is a publication that actually exists and merits inclusion. I would suggest deletion unless someone can verify that this belongs at the target and add it there. signed, Rosguill talk 23:47, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Railways Illustrated, since that title replaced Railway World during 2003 in the Ian Allan portfolio. Railway World verifiably did exist, I have several back numbers. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:54, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No objection to this suggestion as nom. signed, Rosguill talk 20:00, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment An article was created at this title on 27 September, and the RfD tag was removed. The existence of this article falls outside the scope of this RfD and renders a retarget unsuitable. I thus recommend a procedural close; I'm stepping out as I initially overlooked this fact. ComplexRational (talk) 13:30, 1 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

बुराई[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. — JJMC89(T·C) 05:59, 1 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think that this is a case of WP:FORRED; the word for evil in Hindi does not inherently refer to the problem of evil in the Hindu religion (additionally, Hindi is a language used by people of other religions as well). We don't have analogous redirects for other language/religion pairs either (e.g. רשע for Problem of evil in Judaism, شرير for Problem of evil in Islam) signed, Rosguill talk 23:20, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as there is no clear target. Hindi =/= Hinduism (despite the recent "Hindi, Hindu, Hindustan" stuff going on), so there is no need to redirect it to Hinduism. I don't favour redirecting to evil because (in spoken language) the word बुराई usually means निंदा (condemnation, finding faults) For example, "John is constantly finding faults with Jim's behaviour".--DreamLinker (talk) 13:00, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:FORRED. -- Black Falcon (talk) 17:49, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Based on this etymological dictionary entry it doesn't appear that fart is an acronym. If this was a widespread misconception there would still be grounds for keeping the redirect, but the redirect has seen virtually no use, and thus I would suggest deletion. signed, Rosguill talk 23:13, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This appears to be somebody's idea of a weak joke, or a misunderstanding at best. Wikipedia should not become a repository for contrived attempts at humor. Delete it. Reify-tech (talk) 23:22, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) 02:25, 1 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Superfluous redirect with awkward lemma. No backlinks. (information Note: Previous discussion petered out). Hildeoc (talk) 19:32, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, harmless and from move. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 21:21, 23 September 2019 (UTC).[reply]
  • Speedy keep per WP:RENOM. The previous discussion was closed less than a month ago. My comments there still stand. - Eureka Lott 23:07, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Rich Farmbrough. Deleting redirects from moves is generally a bad idea and nothing about this one is so bad that I would ignore that principle. Wug·a·po·des 07:49, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Rich Farmbrough, EurekaLott, and Wugapodes: Once more, I would like to point out to you the fact that there is not a single existing mainspace backlink to this redirect.--Hildeoc (talk) 14:15, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So? This renomination has already taken up more time and server space than maintaining the redirect ever would have. Categorize it as {{R from unnecessary disambiguation}} and move on unless there is an actual reason this is harmful to keep around. Wug·a·po·des 16:05, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DJ Supreme[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was disambiguate. --BDD (talk) 20:13, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

At least two DJ Supremes exist; Space Cowboy (musician) went by that name for a period, and there appears to be a DJ Supreme as part of Hijack (group). Launchballer 19:17, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, this was retargeted arbitrarily some time ago from the original redirect to Space Cowboy, and should be turned into a disambig. Chubbles (talk) 20:18, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate, since there is no clear primary target for this name. I have drafted a disambiguation.Geolodus (talk) 09:24, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Striking !vote and removing disambiguation draft; Space Cowboy and the member of Hijack seem to be the same person (though the articles are contradictory and state this in an unclear way). I am now neutral, but would lean toward retargeting to Space Cowboy. Geolodus (talk) 11:27, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I suppose I will strike the reply instead and readd the draft then. Geolodus (talk) 17:40, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikibox[edit]

The result of the discussion was speedy delete. Redirects from article space to WP space are explicitly not permissible in almost every circumstance, and there's no reason for an exemption here. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:28, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible search term, also a cross-namespace redirect. Not a very active user (talk) 12:21, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nominator; there is no evidence that this is an alternative name for Wikipedia's sandbox, so even editors will be mislead by this. Geolodus (talk) 13:07, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, ambiguous cross namespace redirect. A search shows that the term is sometimes used as a synonym for "infobox". PC78 (talk) 18:12, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sonic Racing[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Team Sonic Racing, with hatnote. --BDD (talk) 20:07, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sonic Racing is a different game for iOS. --37.42.114.249 (talk) 08:51, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to revert edits without providing proper explanation in summary, I will have to report the IP to an administrator. Secondly, considering the new article is notable, please continue creating new article through Draftspace, preferably Draft:Sonic Racing (mobile) and the article will be moved to mainspace once it's notability is checked. Until then, I believe the redirection should exist. Please refrain from just adding one reference to the article (without any content) and calling it notable.

I've been notified about this discussion but my only edit there was a revert from an almost empty version (infobox and reference section but no content) to the previous redirect. In any case I agree with Bishal Shrestha's statement here above, you have to create a new article through the draftspace and then, if notable enough, the article will be moved to the mainspace. Until then there is no good reason to replace the redirect with an almost empty and possibly non-notable article. --DoebLoggs (talk) 07:31, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

YTO (disambiguation)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) 02:27, 1 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. The target article YTO is not a disambiguation page and does not perform a disambiguation-like function. "YTO" has only one meaning: the IATA airline code for the metropolitan area of Toronto. Speedy delete declined by @EurekaLott:. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 08:20, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep It's a redirect, and this is a sensible place to send someone who would have landed at a redlink. (Of course YTO also has more than one meaning.) All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 08:38, 23 September 2019 (UTC).[reply]
  • Keep. Per the cited source, YTO is a city code which can refer to any covers all of the listed airports, hence the page clearly performs a "disambiguation-like" function. But there is also scope to create a proper dab page, with YTO Group and Ypsilanti Transmission Operations as other possible meanings. PC78 (talk) 18:29, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • Yto seems to be a first name. YTO Express seems notable, but the content is at the founder's page. All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 21:10, 23 September 2019 (UTC).[reply]
  • Keep and turn into an actual dab page per the above comment. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:32, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep and turn into a disambiguation page; the abbreviation for "YTO" certainly could stand for multiple things as thus proven. Utopes (talk) 01:12, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to History of the Soviet Union (1927–1953). (non-admin closure) ComplexRational (talk) 14:30, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to History of the Soviet Union (1927–1953), which contains far more information about this specific subject than the article on the ideology. Compare Stalinist USSR. Geolodus (talk) 05:16, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
