Rail transport in Socotra[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) B dash (talk) 03:00, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The target doesn't say anything about rail transport. Frankly, I'm not sure if there even is anything to say about this, because it is a non-topic. -- Tavix (talk) 18:54, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep the target explains that "Public transport on Socotra is limited to a few minibuses; car hire usually means hiring a 4WD car with driver", and further clearly indicates that there is no rail transport on the island - which anyone with enough intelligence to comprehend an average Wikipedia article will easily understand. Alternatively we could retarget to Transport in Yemen#Railways which begins "Yemen does not have any railways, despite several proposals." but this is less preferable as it requires the searcher to know that Socotra is part of Yemen which is not necessarily going to be true of everyone. Thryduulf (talk) 15:20, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • None of what you quoted says anything about rail transport. -- Tavix (talk) 16:03, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • Indeed not, but given that sentence and the totality of the section it is clear to anyone reading it that there is no rail transport on the island. That tells people more about rail transport in Scorotra than a redlink would. Thryduulf (talk) 16:08, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
      • I disagree on both of your points. For example: public transportation could be limited to minibuses and car hire, but there could be a private rail connecting a mining operation in the mountains to a port. A redlink would at least be honest about the fact that Wikipedia does not have this content instead of misleading readers into thinking there is content when there is none. -- Tavix (talk) 16:16, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
        • the thing is that we do have information about rail transport on Scotora - there is none and the article is clear enough about that. We don't need to spoonfeed things that are already clear. A redlink would be actively unhelpful for those who aren't lucky enough to find this discussion in search results. Thryduulf (talk) 16:35, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Thryduulf. Compare to Andorran Navy (RfD): it can be helpful to readers to tell them "this doesn't exist", which search results don't do as well. Verging on weak keep because of how niche this feels. I admit I had never heard of Socotra before; from what I can see, the idea of rail transport there is as silly as the idea of an Andorran navy. --BDD (talk) 16:51, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Several working titles for his second album are given, but not this one. Given that they were discussed over 10 years ago, this a very unlikely search term. Can we WP:HAMMER something for a former future work? BDD (talk) 18:21, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
