The result of the discussion was delete. ~ Amory (utc) 19:46, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading as the target is not a dictionary, and doesn't contain any content about dictionaries. There are brief mentions of individual dictionaries across various articles and it's best to let the search engine reveal them. – Uanfala (talk) 20:37, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Retarget Pontic linguistics to Pontic Greek, keep others. ~ Amory (utc) 19:48, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading as neither their targets, nor apparently any other article, contain any content about the linguistics either of the language/s or in the regions. Bengal studies is a potential target for the last redirect, but it doesn't have any relevant content at present. – Uanfala (talk) 17:55, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep Flemish linguistics and Bengali linguistics and retarget Pontic linguistics to Pontic Greek (to match Pontic language). I'm not a linguist, but I think the claim that these articles don't "contain any content about the linguistics" is only true when one understands "linguistics" in quite a narrow sense. Statements like "There are four principal Dutch dialects in the Flemish region" or "The linguistic lineage of Pontic Greek stems from Ionic Greek via Koine and Byzantine Greek" or "Dictionaries from the early 20th century attributed slightly more than half of the Bengali vocabulary to native words" (all taken from the lead sections of the targets) are statements about linguistics, even if they don't get into the complexities of morphology or syntax. As such, though our coverage of linguistic topics pertaining to these languages could no doubt be improved, the articles on each language are not altogether unhelpful. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 23:06, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Well, I didn't addresss this point in the nomination, because I thought it was self-evident. Of course, any language article is, trivially, a linguistics article (with a reminder that linguistics isn't just syntax and phonemes). But that's not how redirects work: we don't have for example Bear zoology redirecting to Bear. A title like "X linguistics" implies that the content would be about the academic discipline, rather than its object of study. An example of an appropriate redirect is German linguistics, whose target (German studies) contains some content about the discipline itself. – Uanfala (talk) 00:00, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • I don't really agree. I think that while some readers might take the redirect to imply that the target discusses the academic discipline, others are just as likely to assume that it discusses the sort of things covered by that discipline (in the way that English literature or German history are not primarily about the disciplines by those names, but rather deal with the topics that work in those fields deal with). – Arms & Hearts (talk) 17:21, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
        • I'm finding it hard to imagine that there might be users who won't be able to tell the difference between language and linguistics and would use a fancy term they don't know to search for something there's no way they can't know. And I don't think your analogies are helpful: "history" is ambiguous in a way that "language" and "linguistics" aren't; and afaik English literature is only the object of study, the corresponding discipline is English literary studies. – Uanfala (talk) 22:32, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep/Retarget per Arms & Hearts. Thryduulf (talk) 23:11, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Sovereign state. (non-admin closure) Flooded with them hundreds 07:47, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that this should follow sovereign nations and redirect to sovereign state. A hatnote could be added from that article to the current target. -- Patar knight - chat/contributions 17:39, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget per nom: I agree that there's no reason in this case for the singular and plural to point to different targets. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 22:56, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A redirect to a DAB page with no relevant entry. I propose deletion. According to the hatnote in Brother's Blood, the film hasn't come out yet; and there's nothing about the film in IMDb. Narky Blert (talk) 17:17, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
