Is this supposed to be a bad translation? I'm not seeing a connection otherwise. -- Tavix (talk) 22:38, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: At the time I had seen multiple people misspell or mistranslate it like this, so I made the redirect. However, the page view statistics indicate extremely low usage (43 views since mid-2015) so I recommend deletion. -- Pingumeister(talk) 01:53, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - good faith creation but not apparently a plausible error. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 06:50, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Implausible misnomer. This does not seem to refer to any specific products/organizations by my searching, all I get are partial title matches e.g. "North Coast rice industry". - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 09:55, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. WP:Vital articles and the meta list are different; a redirect that merges the two isn't helpful. Wikidata makes it clear these aren't the same. ~ Amory (utc) 20:09, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

These are different lists. One maintained in meta, the other here with different editorial processes. I would suggest a dedicated article including a link to the meta-list. I'm not sure if this has been discussed before. Aeroid (talk) 19:31, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Running Room[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. WP:REDLINK ~ Amory (utc) 20:04, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Running Room is a 122 store chain that sells athletic gear across Canada[1]. For Canada that is a pretty large chain of stores - one store for every 350,000 people. It's page at Running Room (company) was recently deleted as advertising but we should redlink this to encourage recreation. There is no reason to capitalize the dentistry term. This situation evolved as the company name was moved and a dab page created and than removed, not because someone intended to target Running Room at Running room (dentistry) Legacypac (talk) 17:07, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't understand the comments related to dentistry. I am the author of the dentistry article on running room, and because of risk of confusion the articles had parenthetical references added to the article titles. The dental term is not capitalized and whether or not the Canadian apparel store has an article or not or whether the article that it had was seen as an advert really shouldn't matter to the dental article. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 02:23, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm also surprised that we deleted an article on the Canadian running chain, certainly an article could be written. The one at Running Room (company) wasn't really recently deleted, unless Legacypac linked to the wrong one, but that one was pretty spammy and also contained a large copyvio which might also have contributed to its deletion. I think given the current situation that there isn't an article on the company, this redirect should be kept. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 06:56, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It was deleted Nov 2015, I thought Nov 2017 but I either misread or recalled a different date from the histories I check. I believe a page should be written on the Canadian company. Redlinking would encourage creation. Legacypac (talk) 07:01, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete and remove hatnote. Article can be re-created as a neutral business stub if notable. Seems to be popular in Canada / Edmonton. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:34, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Claim to be "North America's largest specialty running & walking retailer of sporting goods, apparel and footwear" and they operate stores in all 10 Provinces plus Hawaii and Minnesota. Legacypac (talk) 19:10, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's basically the Canadian Tire of running gear. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 23:35, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mexican rice[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was No consensus. Defaulting to delete for the latter, and keep for the former given the history. AFAICT, wikidata is no help here. We shouldn't send articles to AfD for cleanup, but I'm sympathetic to the issues here; I think the real problem stems from the fact that Americans are not exactly consistent in referring to food from/related to other cultures. ~ Amory (utc) 20:17, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mexican rice and Spanish rice are two different recipes for rice; Spanish rice uses a tomato base and turns out red, whereas Mexican rice doesn't use a tomato base, and its finished product turns the rice yellow. Either way, having one redirect to the other does not make sense. Steel1943 (talk) 00:14, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Mexican rice is a {{R from merge}}. Steel1943 (talk) 00:19, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete like apple pie -> pumpkin pie. Legacypac (talk) 00:41, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Although surprised by the redirect myself, the target article explains that the dish is unheard of in Spain and is a Mexican-style rice dish. Unless the nominators claim can be backed up by sources. The redirects need some sort of target...Bod (talk) 04:43, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Per WP:REDLINK, since the redirect is not synonymous with its target, it doesn't. Best to delete the redirect so that the subject can be created. In fact, the content at Spanish rice which you refer was a merge from the content that was formerly at Mexican rice. Possibly the best shirt-term solution is to restore the content at Mexican rice (while removing the related content from Spanish rice), then retargeting Mexican-style rice there. (However, I'm not even sure that he content formerly at Mexican rice is even accurate; I think as an article, it would be deleted at WP:AFD.) Steel1943 (talk) 06:07, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    • I still think to keep the redirect and add a template or whatever to fix the Spanish rice article to talk more about Mexican rice. Bod (talk) 18:50, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • I'm unclear why we would do that considering that they are two separate subjects. Steel1943 (talk) 21:48, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete and send the article to AfD. It's obviously confused: "Spanish rice is a Mexican side dish" ... "Spanish rice is a popular dish in Spain" ... "although it is called Spanish rice it is unheard of in Spain". Which is it? The image in the article appears to be rice and beans. For what it's worth, Spanish Wikipedia does not have an article on this topic. The only dish in their Mexican rice dishes category is es:Arroz negro (cocina mexicana), which is rice with black beans but is not Arròs negre, which is identified as a Spanish dish of rice blackened with squid, and there is no article on arroz rojo. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 07:15, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Unless I'm wrong, in which case if someone could point out which of the dishes in es:Categoría:Platos de arroz de España each of Spanish and Mexican rice correspond to, that would be helpful. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 07:18, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Ivanvector: Per your comment, List of rice dishes may be of interest, considering Spanish rice is listed. Steel1943 (talk) 18:40, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Appreciate the link but I don't think it helps: it lists Spanish rice as a Mexican dish, which is the same confusion I referred to. My thought is if Spanish rice (whatever it is) is a notable dish, then Spanish Wikipedia should have an article on it. It does not. It's really just a guess since my Google-fu is coming up short on this one. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 23:33, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I was thinking that you would come to a conclusion like that since I did as well. Steel1943 (talk) 01:44, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • For some clarification, Spanish rice is the name for the rice dish that is commonly consumed in Mexico (and Mexican-American food). However, as a Californian, sometimes this is also called Mexican rice (by those who aren't sure what it is called exactly, except they know it is eaten with Mexican food). I don't really have an opinion on the fate of the redirects. However, the target article doesn't need to go to AFD. It is surprising the Spanish Wikipedia doesn't have an article on it, but they are also a much smaller Wikipedia overall. Killiondude (talk) 00:46, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete good hebrews are not supposed to eat pigs, and since you are what you eat, hebrews are less likely to be pig than your typical bacon loving American or ham loving Spaniard. Legacypac (talk) 05:31, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Legacy's jokes/cultural assimilation arguments aside, the point is whether or not the word is useful. I'm neutral on this (common word, transliterated), but the clear importance the pig plays in the religious practice seems like an endorsement of item #3 of FORRED. Regarding the nomination statement, that's why the article is at pig. ~ Amory (utc) 19:23, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
