James M.Cox, Jr.[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was speedy deleted, G7, by MelanieN. -- Tavix (talk) 20:56, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Name is not stylized with M.Cox like that. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:36, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect has been moved to the correct title. FloridaArmy (talk) 14:48, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@FloridaArmy: If a situation like this happens again in the future, please create a new redirect instead of moving the redirect nominated for discussion; moving the redirect moved the discussion notice to the wrong page/title. Either way, I have fixed the issue caused by moving the redirect, and the discussion tag is on the proper page. Steel1943 (talk) 17:15, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't the proper procesure to fix the error on the page? That's all that was needed. No discussion was needed. No notices. Just a simple fix. Easy. FloridaArmy (talk) 17:49, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @FloridaArmy: That's not what happened; when you moved the redirect, you created a redirect when you moved it, meaning your "correction" and the title nominated by AngusWOOF currently both exist. So, to be clear, you are okay with the nominated redirect being deleted? (Deletion per speedy deletion criterion G7?) Steel1943 (talk) 17:53, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The point is there was never a need for a nomination. If there is a misspelling jist fix it. Of course the redirect with a spacing error isn't needed. Be bold. 17:58, 24 February 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by ‎FloridaArmy (talkcontribs)
@FloridaArmy: Cannot do any such thing without your consent or community consensus since it involves a page deletion. However, since it seems that per your previous comment, you are okay with the nominated redirect being deleted per {{db-g7}}, I'll place that tag on the nominated redirect. Due to lack of precedence to use "about" in this manner for redirects, this is both implausible and possible a magnet for incorrect searches when the word "about" is used in Wikipedia's search function. Steel1943 (talk) 22:15, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As a word, this seems WP:MADEUP. Steel1943 (talk) 21:24, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

To add, I mean, if this isn't a real word, should Dogology, Catology, and Pigology be created as well? Steel1943 (talk) 21:25, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete it's sort of a real word, but there's two problems, since first as sources note it's very vague [1], and second we don't have any specific articles or categories or anything for the biologists and ecologists and other kinds of scientists who specialise in leporidae; all we've got is cuniculture, which is just one aspect of what you might call "rabbitology". 59.149.124.29 (talk) 06:13, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Deletologise per above: an obscure, informal and vague term (the few decent sources that use it seem to do so only in quotation marks) that we don't appear to have a decently appropriate target for. – Uanfala (talk) 18:42, 24 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - It's sort of a real word, but it doesn't have a coherent meaning. As stated above, this should be deleted. It reminds me of something like these meme images, to be honest. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 17:19, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary slang/not Urban Dictionary. Also, this redirect seems to have some sort of affinity to PewDiePie per third party search engines. Steel1943 (talk) 21:22, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Delete as implausible typo. The typo showed up 9 years ago and stuck when the article was created. Not recent, so it probably doesn't qualify for R3. kennethaw88talk 07:20, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Boiled beans[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Bean#Toxins. ~ Amory (utc) 13:19, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The word "boiled" in nowhere in the target article. I would have thought such a redirect could be targeted to List of legume dishes, but it's not mentioned there either. Steel1943 (talk) 00:29, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I would have thought this could refer to baked beans, which are normally stewed rather than baked. Is there enough of a difference between stewing and boiling? – Uanfala (talk) 03:01, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't consider Baked beans synonymous with this redirect at all. Any beans can be boiled, just like one boils pasta. However, as you state, "baked beans" are different, including that they are mixed with a sauce (usually tomato based) whereas the only two ingredients required to boil beans are beans and water. Steel1943 (talk) 03:30, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Boiled beans needs some sort of redirect along the lines of "Baked beans" and until a better one is suggested, keep as is. Bod (talk) 04:36, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • If there is no accurate target for that redirect, it actually doesn't need a target, nor needs to exist. In a case like this, deleting the redirect so that Wikipedia's search function can be used is preferable. Steel1943 (talk) 06:08, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Refine to Bean#Toxins as boiling is suggested in the article as a method of removing some toxins and killing bacteria. If there's another bean-related article that goes into this process or discusses this as a dish then that would be helpful. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 14:41, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I could support that suggestion if this redirect's title was "Boiling beans", but the use of the word "boiled" makes this redirect more sound like some sort of specific dish. (But agreed, from my understanding, all beans need to be boiled to remove their natural toxins, so maybe that suggestion is appropriate.) Steel1943 (talk) 14:51, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Retarget good suggestion. Bod (talk) 18:48, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep and refine to Enchilada#Varieties. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) 08:54, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Delete both per WP:REDLINK unless there is an article which actually identifies these sauces. Steel1943 (talk) 00:23, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep both, possibly refining to Enchilada#Varieties, which explains that "enchilada sauce" isn't really just one thing but depends on the variety of enchilada and gives a detailed list of examples, with an explicit mention of "red enchilada sauce". 59.149.124.29 (talk) 04:13, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
