Surat[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete all. -- Tavix (talk) 23:20, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sai Baba Temple[edit]

Generic redirects, not mentioned in the target article. – Uanfala 23:25, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. This is a total misuse of a an article redirect in an attempt to feign notability. The same should apply to every other flagged article on the List of tourist attractions in Surat list. Ajf773 (talk) 05:14, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as WP:TNT. There are more redirects to flag down, but hopefully someone can go through List of tourist attractions in Surat and give it a thorough scrubbing as to what points of interest are Wikipedia notable. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:07, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget first one to Sai Baba and third one to Mahavira#Temples, since it looks like a name that's in use for Mahavira from a quick Google search. Bada Ganesh may be worth redirecting to an article related to Ganesha, but I'm not sure after a Google search. Delete the last one. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 23:44, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • Fwiw, I don't think redirecting to articles that don't contain any content on the specific topic searched for is useful for readers. Someone typing out the full "Mahavir Swami Jain Temple" is likely looking for specific temples with this name, and they certainly won't be looking for general information on Mahavira temples. – Uanfala 00:00, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Various Surat tourist attractions[edit]

Alleged tourist attractions, but not mentioned in Surat article. No sources to indicate importance. They are briefly listed at List of tourist attractions in Surat, but without any articles to support importance, they might be removed from there. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:01, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Various Surat tourist attractions with poor formatting[edit]

Poorly formatted redirect for alleged tourist attraction in Surat. Not discussed in Surat article. No sources to indicate notability. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:58, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects to List of Doctor Who serials, an unrelated page to the name of this article. If this article was removed last year, it should have been deleted. -- AlexTW 07:17, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - Per nominator, redirects to irrelevant page. TedEdwards 22:04, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unused, unneeded, over-capitalized redirect. Dicklyon (talk) 05:05, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom, and because it's an unlikely search term. Furthermore, this phrase (and close equivalents like "Fundamentals of EMC") is used in – and apparently only in – the titles of various introductory classes, texts, and tutorials. I.e., it's directly equivalent to "First Steps in Classical Guitar", or "Spanish 101", or "Introduction to Cultural Anthropology", or "Remedial Trigonometry Tutorial". As such, this is a WP:NOTTEXTBOOK matter; our articles are not instructional materials, and we do not have redirects that imply they are.  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  11:38, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was soft delete. There is no prejudice against recreation if a use can be established. Anarchyte (work | talk) 12:55, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Obscure term. Delete. KMF (talk) 14:12, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. During this redirect's 7-year history, it was once an article, as well as a redirect towards Digital native. Steel1943 (talk) 14:20, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment this came up because of Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales saying "today's students are the Wiki generation" [1] last month. It hasn't really caught on, and so this leans towards WP:NEOLOGISM. If it sticks it should redirect there and be mentioned with an R from quote, but only if new articles continue to propagate its use. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:06, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cross-namespace redirect. Retarget to Wikipedia. KMF (talk) 14:10, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

KMF, what has changed since the last two discussions? – Uanfala 14:20, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep because the redirect has significant usage and the current target provides the most useful information to the reader. feminist 12:39, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep per the above, but we should possible have an actual article there, since "citation needed" has become a common off-WP meme; it seems unlikely that no RS have written about it by now.  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  09:20, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

F.O.O.L[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix (talk) 23:17, 14 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Non-notable music artists, both associated with each other according to the Monstercat WIKIA. Apparently, F.O.O.L is an acronym for "[Expletive] Our Ordinary Lives", which I am not sure if there's reason to retarget this one, but otherwise recommend deletion for both. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 01:09, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Question – I understand that non-notable means they don't get their own articles. But what's wrong with using redirects to their notable band? Is there a relevant guideline? Dicklyon (talk) 05:18, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Dicklyon: I also forgot to mention that the artists are not mentioned in the article. I could not find targets for each. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 05:24, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was WP:SNOW deletion. Three different reasons have been given for deletion, either here or on the redirect page, but everyone agrees it should be deleted. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 16:05, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible misspelling, this apparently is Hungarian for Aichi Prefecture, but retargeting there would not be appropriate per WP:RFFL. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 00:16, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(I created this redirect.) Wow, this one is from so long ago that I don't remember why I created it. It's possible that either I or someone else made this misspelling as a one-off inexplicable mistake in an article and I made the redirection together with the correction, but I'm not sure how I could check that. Since it is rather implausible, today I would probably have corrected it silently without the redirect: I would support deletion. Double sharp (talk) 02:14, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
