This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on November 12, 2016.

Martin Luther D'Ooge[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Procedural close. I've taken the stub started by User:Narky Blert and expanded it a little; so no longer a redirect. Incidentally, retargeted Martin Luther D’Ooge with the left-apostrophe (it was also a soft redirect to DE:WP). (non-admin closure) by Si Trew (talk) 03:22, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Soft redirects to non-English language editions of Wikipedia should be avoided because they will generally be unhelpful to English-language readers." WP:Soft redirect Largoplazo (talk) 18:30, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - I believe that this scholar is notable enough to merit his own English language page. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 19:07, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Write the article. I've added a very basic stub as a hidden comment. Delete the redirect and RfD stuff, link the article to German Wiki, add other tags or info, and we're good to go. Narky Blert (talk) 23:41, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
IMO the German article proves he easily passes WP:GNG. Narky Blert (talk) 23:52, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Chizra[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete.---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 05:51, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Although "Chizra" means "unreal", it has nothing to do with the 1998 video game or any of the other pages listed on the disambiguation page. The redirect was recently retargeted due to recent moves. GeoffreyT2000 (talk, contribs) 17:41, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom, and I also support deletion per my finds. "Chizra" is apparently the name of a stage in the 1998 video game. Right now, I don't see the stage mentioned in the target article. So, delete per WP:NOTWIKIA. Steel1943 (talk) 05:22, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - There's indeed a level in the game by this name, but I don't think merely that the level exists is enough to justify this redirect. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 19:12, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Steel and Coffee. -- Notecardforfree (talk) 06:16, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Major cricket[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.

Delete. The term "major cricket" is contentious because it has been wrongly used in a quasi-official way and it creates confusion. WP:CRIC members are now using "senior cricket" in article narratives as an acceptable alternative. This redirect serves no useful purpose and it should ideally be removed to prevent any confusion. Jack | talk page 14:55, 12 November 2016 (UTC) Jack | talk page 14:55, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(Restored my "Retarget" comment after nominator stated comment regarding merge discussion. Steel1943 (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2016 (UTC))[reply]

@Steel1943: Please see this merge proposal which began after the AfD. Members of WP:CRIC decided, with a change of heart by myself mainly, that the article was controversial and should be merged if not deleted. I now believe it should be deleted to avoid any confusion and to keep the peace. It serves no useful purpose as a redirect. Jack | talk page 10:56, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@BlackJack: Thanks. I've updated my comment to reflect the fact that I have now acknowledged the merge discussion's existence. Steel1943 (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Steel1943: Thanks for withdrawing the restore option. I suppose you could redirect to MLC but it would be square peg into round hole because the MLC is a specific event in one country while "major cricket" is a generic term for top-class cricket worldwide. Oh, and thanks for not trouting me although you can of course send a trout over and we'll have it for tea Jack | talk page 15:37, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@BlackJack: Haha, that would be trout well consumed! Either way, you do have a point regarding the matter of the redirect, and since I noticed that other related sports redirects such as Major baseball, Major basketball, Major football and Major hockey don't exist, I downgraded my "Retarget" option to "WEAK". WP:XNR. (Not 100% clear in edit history if this was an error; this redirect is about 12 years old.) Steel1943 (talk) 04:58, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect from move, nothing links through it. It is currently buggering up a Petscan listing I use to populate wikidata - http://petscan.wmflabs.org/?psid=587622&al_commands=P31%3AQ5%0AP21%3AQ6581097 - probably because of database corruption ... the Petscan specifies that redirects should not show, but this redirect persists in showing. Killing this useless redirect will make porting data to wikipdata more easy. --Tagishsimon (talk) 01:39, 12 November 2016 (UTC) Tagishsimon (talk) 01:39, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. The rough consensus is that there isn't demonstrable harm in keeping this redirect. Deryck C. 12:29, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A short, in short. This is a useful thing to keep, because its inclusion in the index (which is suppressed by its listing here) might help someone to find something. It's not as if it's blocking any other Frank Mitchell, cricketer, born in 1878. WP:RFD#K5, Keep as harmless bordering on useful. Si Trew (talk) 00:29, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
ffs. 1. Frank Herbert Mitchell is this person 2. The redirect is doing harm per my nom and 3. It is a useless useless redirect. --Tagishsimon (talk) 23:55, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply on my talk page. I never sugested that this redirect was to anyone otherthan this person, only that searching for similar things with more or less plausible answers gives different results. The redirect is not doing any harm to people searching English Wikipedia. That it is useless is not enough: it ha to be harmful, and it seems it is only harmful to some non-Wikipedia automation tool. The remedy to that is to fix the tool, not to delete a harless bordering on useful redirect. Si Trew (talk) 09:47, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I moved a long piece of poetry to the talk page. -- Tavix (talk) 23:39, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep as no valid rationale to delete given. The link (petscan...) does not work, and you don’t explain what a petscan is. But lets assume it’s some code trawling the database, and it‘s flagging this up incorrectly as something other than a redirect. But as it’s a valid, working redirect the problem is with the code. The solution is to fix the code so it can cope with such cases. We should not be modifying WP because of broken external tools.--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 10:57, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per JohnBlackburne, excepting the "no valid rationale" bit as rationale was clearly given. The page is clearly a redirect or was prior to the nomination notice being placed on it, so the problem is with the external tool, not the redirect. Fix the tool. This redirect is harmless and points at the correct target. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 14:21, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • the rationale was not given in a way I understand. I don’t know what a 'petscan' is and can't guess from that name, and the link does not work. If someone is willing to give a clear rationale that makes sense I might reconsider my !vote, but as-is my assumption is that it’s a broken external tool, not some part of WP (otherwise I would have come across it I think).--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 08:14, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
