July 7[edit]
This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on July 7, 2016.
Talk:Solar system warming[edit]
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was Request withdrawn Boldly. Actually I think I know how to handle this. The redirect was bot-changed in 2009, and the mainspace changed again when that redirect was targeted to a more meaningful title due to a page merge of some sort. Meanwhile, the leftover talk page archives were left sitting there. There's no good way to merge the talk page archives that I mentioned below in my opinion, so I'll leave it, as it is also a bit out of scope of the RfD. I will correct the talk-page redirect to point to Talk:Solar cycle, and remove the outdated section link on the mainspace redirect. Any questions or inquiries, do not hesitate to ping me on my talk. Thanks. (non-admin closure) — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 23:50, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
- Talk:Solar system warming → Talk:Solar variation (links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
- Solar system warming → Solar cycle#Solar variation theory (links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
At some point, there was a move/merge involved with Solar system warming and Solar variation. This particular talk page should at least match the target of its main page, Solar cycle, I believe. I'm also unsure what to do with (where to move) pages listed at Special:PrefixIndex/Talk:Solar variation/ and Special:PrefixIndex/Talk:Solar system warming/resolved this one. Also, "Solar cycle#Solar variation theory" is an outdated section link" — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 23:08, 7 July 2016 (UTC) 23:13, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was delete (bundled closure). The general consensus is that we don't want to keep these XNRs. The retargets was suggested but it was self-admittedly "weak" and only attracted a weak majority, so I suppose defaulting to deletion is appropriate. Deryck C. 14:42, 16 July 2016 (UTC)

- Delete per Tavix. We also have an article on Hungary's top domestic cup for this year. This was a template created in the wrong namespace. We shouldn't obscure content from readers just to try to accommodate the remaining redirect. --BDD (talk) 13:19, 14 July 2016 (UTC)

HSDPA+[edit]
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was delete Ehspa and Internet HSPA, no consensus on HSDPA+ and DC-HSPA+. -- Tavix (talk) 14:37, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
- HSDPA+ → Evolved High Speed Packet Access (links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Proposing deletion of these four redirects with all other existing redirects listed here: Pages that link to "Evolved High Speed Packet Access" to keep (not part of this proposal). Reason: WP:COSTLY. All listed redirects seem to be adressed by this argumentation. Detailled reasons for listing those four here are below. --> HSPA+ and HSDPA exist. There is no HSDPA+ which makes this one an uncommon misnormer (with enough other plausible redirects already existing to aid misspelling during search).
- DC-HSPA+ → Evolved High Speed Packet Access (links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ] --> Same reason as above but with DC-HSPA and HSPA+.
- Ehspa → Evolved High Speed Packet Access (links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ] --> completely uncommon.
- Internet HSPA → Evolved High Speed Packet Access (links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ] --> non existant, likely promotional background.

- Keep HSDPA+ and DC-HSPA+ They are mentioned in a bunch of news searches, so when these news writers use the term, what do they likely mean? Delete EHSPA I don't see many news hits for that, only a few non-English articles that mention eHSPA. Delete Internet HSPA. I don't see those two words mentioned together in the news articles. - Long term evolution advanced → LTE Advanced (links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Proposing deletion of the following redirects with only LTE-Advanced, LTE-advanced and LTE-A to keep (not part of this proposal). Reason: WP:COSTLY. All listed redirects seem to be adressed by this argumentation.
- Lte advanced wireless → LTE Advanced (links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
- Lte advanced standard → LTE Advanced (links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
- Lte advanced wireless standard → LTE Advanced (links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
- Lte advanced network → LTE Advanced (links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Nightwalker-87 (talk) 20:59, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
- Delete LTE Advanced (descriptor) per nom. Someone typing in LTE advanced will be best served with that and not a bunch of possible strings that suggest more different articles but really redirect to the same LTE Advanced article. Keep long term evolution advanced as the expansion of the term. [1] AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:06, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Another implausible rendering of his name (see below). -- Tavix (talk) 04:09, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
- Delete Hoover's first name isn't widely used, and no one's going to type in this bizarre rendering when they can just type "John" directly. 210.6.254.106 (talk) 07:08, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
- Incidentally, Hoover, John Edgar doesn't exist, and Hoover, John points to John Hoover which is a disambiguation. 210.6.254.106 (talk) 07:09, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
