October 22[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on October 22, 2015.

Fraternal order[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. --BDD (talk) 14:11, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Too vague a term to be useful. It's not the same as a fraternity. We don't have an appropriate article, as opposed to a whole bunch of potential targets. The term doesn't appear in the current target, and the list article isn't really appropriate either. MSJapan (talk) 15:30, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

La Murda[edit]

The 1963 film was actually called La Murga. Judging from Google, "La Murda" is a correct WP:PARTIALMATCH for other stuff. That stuff isn't necessarily notable, but I still I think that makes it too confusing (WP:R#D2) to keep as an {{R from typo}}. 210.6.254.106 (talk) 15:13, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. The film is not notable. Someone seems to have simply created a list of films that are listed on IMDB having been released in Argentina in various years, but there's no evidence provided that any of them are in any way notable. Most of them are redlinks, or stubs consisting entirely of "<name of film> is a 196x Argentine film." and nothing else. Notability is required; we're not an IMDB mirror. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 16:32, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to La Murga as a plausible misspelling. It was pointed out to me at AfD that the film is in fact notable. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 21:47, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete because WP:R#D2 trumps WP:RTYPO in my opinion. -- Tavix (talk) 17:05, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Tavix. --Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 10:43, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tij.co.jp[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete, without prejudice against creation of a redirect to a more specific target. Deryck C. 19:27, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Website isn't mentioned at the target. This is an extremely implausible search term anyways, so even if someone does type this in, it won't be the least bit useful. - Champion (talk) (contribs) (Formerly TheChampionMan1234) 10:03, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, after checking both URLs. Both are country-specific websites for the company; this is functionally the same as other URL pages, e.g. google.ca. See Category:Redirects from domain names; we have hundreds of redirects like this, and I don't see why these two should be treated differently from the rest. Nyttend (talk) 15:58, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Nyttend: The important thing is if readers get what they are looking for, but the target won't help as those websites aren't even mentioned, some of the domain redireects are useful as they DO provide readers with what they are looking for. For a previous nomination please see Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2015_September_8#Qantas.jp. - Champion (talk) (contribs) (Formerly TheChampionMan1234) 22:10, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete both Only the worldwide website should redirect to the company article. Country-specific websites could redirect to a country-specific article on the company if it exist (such as Texas Instruments in Japan, but it doesn't, and probably never will. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 11:49, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete both – Corporations have hundreds of sub-domains. Wikipedia isn't an online directory (WP:NOTADIRECTORY). Senator2029 “Talk” 02:31, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete, without prejudice against creation of redirect to point to a more specific target, if one is found to be appropriate. Deryck C. 19:27, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment websites of foreign language media seem like plausible search terms for editors (e.g. if you see a website you've never heard of being used as a source, you can't read a word on the page, and you're trying to determine whether it's a WP:RS), though this rationale probably doesn't apply that much to CNN since their logo is in English anyway. Also, at the earlier RFD on CNN.co.jp (same site, different capitalisation), no one was able to figure out if this site was actually associated with CNNj. 210.6.254.106 (talk) 12:14, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per the other 1,392 pages in Category:Redirects from domain names and per my comment on the Texas Instruments redirects. Why should this be treated differently? Nyttend (talk) 16:00, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment. I think we had some RfD on CNN in another domain very recently, a squatting site (different caps)... so I can see why this would come up specifically. Nevertheless it is harmless as it stands. @Nyttend: Nice to see you here. Si Trew (talk) 04:56, 16 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Nyttend. --Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 14:52, 16 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. This is not the domain name for CNN. It's cnn.com, which is what fits under Category:Redirects from domain names. This doesn't, and in the last RFD, no one could figure out if there was any connection between this domain name and CNNj. If this is kept, it'll be confusing and a disappointment for someone searching for something more specific. -- Tavix (talk) 18:16, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Tavix. CNNj would be a better target, but again, no one seems to know if they're the same or not. --BDD (talk) 14:20, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:RFD#D2 confusing. The target is not about commas. Si Trew (talk) 07:48, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: Is it worth retargeting Template:, to the same place, or are we comfortable with "," and "Comma" having different targets?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, BDD (talk) 14:15, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • (replying to relisting comment) I think it's fine to have {{,}} and {{comma}} go different places. All of these templates do different things and were created for different purposes, and there are plenty of examples of this across the project. I don't think there's a strong enough case to justify the disruption that making this change could create. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 14:30, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Procedural close as withdrawn (WP:RFD#K5), please. It's fine for the templates to go to different places, I don't really know why I suggested otherwise. Si Trew (talk) 07:57, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per above. --  Kethrus |talk to me  12:31, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Comment - I appear to be the person who made the redirect, and I can only assume I was working from a list of redlinks taken from some other encyclopedia, but that was 11 (!) years ago and I have no idea now :) No objection to deleting it now, of course. Whatever was linking to it in 2004 is no longer there. Adam Bishop (talk) 23:37, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Doing a web search, I'm seeing him referred to as Howard Walter Florey Baron Florey. Then I occasionally see websites that screwed up the word order giving the format above. But we shouldn't keep a silly redirect because some websites have screwed up, so delete. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 11:54, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as an implausible typo. --Rubbish computer (HALP!: I dropped the bass?) 10:46, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

House that Jordan Built[edit]

The result of the discussion was Speedy Delete, G5 Lenticel (talk) 00:59, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:G5, WP:EVADE, WP:BMB and WP:DENY. This was created by Bossanoven aka TyrusThomas4lyf in violation of his block and should be deleted. I think that "House that Jordan Built" is an extremely minor name for the United Center, only giving me ~3,000 ghits. -- Tavix (talk) 02:39, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy delete G5 with all the others. Ping me if I need to elaborate. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 14:22, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Pages tagged. Guys, it's not enough to just write speedy delete. You have to actually go and put the {{db-g5}} template on the redirect, or nobody will speedily delete it. --NYKevin 23:09, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Murda Land[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Murdaland. --BDD (talk) 14:05, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I couldn't find evidence that this refers to Maryland. I thought about retargeting to Murderland, but it seems too implausible a redirect. Thoughts? -- Tavix (talk) 00:30, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Murdaland with a hatnote for other spelling confusions or verifiable competing usages, I guess. 210.6.254.106 (talk) 02:33, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Murdaland. I don't think we should have a hatnote to Maryland, I'm struggling to find it but we had a fairly recent discussion about derogatory monikers of citiesplaces and the consensus seemed to be to delete them, even though I provided RS for some. (I note we still have Filthydelphia and Auld Reekie, for example, so the consensus was perhaps more refined than that, e.g. to take each case-by-case.) Murder LandMurderland, but Murder land and Murda land are red. Si Trew (talk) 06:01, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I guess 210.6 meant to hatnote between Murderland and Murdaland: That would seem reasonable. Si Trew (talk) 06:05, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
