Micah Moore[edit]

The result of the discussion was keep. (NAC) Armbrust The Homunculus 04:09, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect is problematic, and I think it should be deleted. It currently points to the "International House of Prayer" article, because a murderer named Micah Moore was a member of that organization and is mentioned in the article. But, there exists a porn star named also Micah Moore who is much more well known. There is no article about her on Wikipedia, but in Google Search the phrase "Micah Moore" gives top seven hits for the porn star, while only two of the first fifteen hits are about the murderer ([1]), other 13 are about the porn star. So, if somebody types "Micah Moore" in Wikipedia, there is far grater chance he is looking for the pornstar than for the murderer, but he will be redirected to the "International House of Prayer" without any explanation. That may be very confusing. Vanjagenije (talk) 21:19, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - firstly it is most important not to describe Moore as a murderer; he has denied the charge and he is due to stand jury trial next March. Next, redirecting a nn participant to an article describing an incident with which they are connected is entirely normal. It is also not uncommon for us to have a redirect to someone with the same name as a marginally notable other person and this is not a problem. If the porn star is notable then an article can be written over the redirect which can have a hattnote to the IHOP incident. The Whispering Wind (talk) 15:18, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep for now, but I'd avoid creating any mainspace links. Though the porn star failed AfD in 2009, that may have changed—she's included on User:Epbr123/Adult award winners and nominees, which hints that she may pass WP:PORNBIO now. Even so, I think it's more likely this would be overwritten about an article on the porn star rather than the alleged criminal. For now, it does no harm. --BDD (talk) 19:22, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
