Background: naval ships have a name (e.g., "Brambleleaf") and a pennant number (e.g., "A91") for identification; "RFA" denotes the British Royal Fleet Auxiliary. Ship names are often re-used but normally with a different pennant number.

I propose deletion of the redirect because there never has been an RFA Brambleleaf with pennant number A91: both modern Brambleleafs have, confusingly, had pennant number A81 and the corresponding Wikipedia articles are RFA Brambleleaf (1959) and RFA Brambleleaf (A81). The redirect is to the former. The existence of the redirect compounds the confusion of two ships with the same pennant number, as it means that one can be reading an article with URL ".../RFA_Brambleleaf_(A91)" which talks about a ship with pennant number A81. Because there has never been an A91 Brambleleaf, any use of the redirect is a mistake; it's not a frequent misspelling; there is no page history; no current article links to the redirect. On the other side of the coin, we may wish to keep the redirect because it's about six years old and at least one old version of a page linked to it (in error; fixed this morning). And it is relatively unlikely that there will be another RFA Brambleleaf any time soon, let alone one with pennant number A91. Dricherby (talk) 10:17, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
