The result of the discussion was delete. JohnCD (talk) 23:01, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Madeira is part of Portugal, not an independent country, and does not conduct its own foreign relations or maintain diplomatic missions of its own. Madeira is not even mentioned on the target page, List of diplomatic missions in Portugal. I recommend deletion of the redirect. Metropolitan90 (talk) 13:37, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as misleading: Madeira doesn't have any diplomatic missions. I was tempted to nominate List of diplomatic missions in Madeira, but there is a Consulate-General in Funchal, Madeira. The reason this redirect was created was because of the redlink in the template at Lists of diplomatic missions and specific lists, but I think the dependencies and other territories section should be removed from the template (it's easy to do). I'm also wondering if that section is useful for the templates for North America, South America, and Europe (it is for Asia and Oceania). TimBentley (talk) 22:15, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - I was the original nominator (but as article AfD). In addition to the above arguments I would add that for other similar territories, such as Azores, there are no such redirects. Also, redirects for red links are useful only if the target article really has information about the redirect topic. It's wrong to simply make redirects for all dependencies and special regions of states - in this way readers are misled in thinking "ah, there are diplomatic missions in Azores, I'll follow the link to read about these" and then the page for diplomatic missions in Lisbon, Portugal opens (as Azores is a region of Portugal) and there is nothing about Azores there. Those are navigation templates, if there is no article to navigate to - no need to make the red link a misleading blue link. Japinderum (talk) 05:56, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unused typo redirect. Unlike in mainspace, there is ample opportunity to fix errors like this without causing disruption when used on talk. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 11:22, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep Both Harmless. The only difference from the redirects and the target is capitation and a space. People shouldn't need to remember the exact capitation and spacing to use templates. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 23:00, 14 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Actually, "Article" is misspelled as "Aritcle". That said, it's still keep and tag as {{R from misspelling}}. Ego White Tray (talk) 03:15, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • There is a difference between helpful redirects from common misspellings of article titles (such as people's last names) and simple typos for templates which should be caught at the time. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 09:19, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Users involved with automation (scripting, bots, etc.) know how frustrating template redirects can be, and the fewer the better. Unused, random misspellings like this one should just be deleted. — This, that, and the other (talk) 10:55, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per this, that and the other. It's implausible for main space and clutter to template space. Regards, Sun Creator(talk) 20:41, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Aawara[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Retarget to Awara which mentions the film. Tikiwont (talk) 19:14, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What's the connection? The article doesn't even mention it. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 09:57, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • The film's dubbed Telugu version was Awara or Aawara or Awaara. It was reasonably successful in Telugu. And it is mentioned in the article as well. Johannes003 (talk) 10:46, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The article and the references used in it have the spelling "Awara". Then why is the redirect for "Aawara"? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 09:41, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Dharmadhyaksha's comment right above mine. To most English speakers, there's no substantial difference between "Aa[letters]" and "A[letters]"; consider that "Aaron" and "aroma" (and "Aaron" and "Aron") are pronounced the same. You may hear about this film and not be confident about how to spell it. Nyttend (talk) 01:11, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Quite true. But then we don't necessarily create redirects for all such articles with Indic names. Also, Awaara is another Bollywood classic, which should be a target for "Aawara" for being a possible search option. (Its actually how i came across this redirect). If not, "Aawara" should simply redirect to Awara, a disambiguation page. But i don't find that remote connection with Paiyaa anything viable. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:15, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Keep per. It is fine to have redirects for non-notable persons. Ruslik_Zero 14:59, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to be an attempt to show notability for this person without giving him an article. By doing this, he showed up as a blue link at List of Liberty University people and other articles. Dougweller (talk) 06:15, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. It is very common to redirect the names of people with marginal notability to the entity/event they are associated with. I know nothing about basketball but it seems from a Google search they are not notable enough for their own article. If you do not think that he merits an entry on the list article then I suggest you discuss that at the talk page there. Thryduulf (talk) 12:45, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Questions Is there a guideline on this? How is 'marginal notability' defined? Where does it say it's very common? Dougweller (talk) 17:07, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Arzona[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. JohnCD (talk) 22:58, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to see this redirect deleted. There is one use of Arzona in article space and it seems to refer to a location in Turkey. It is not appropriate to redirect the reader to the U.S. state of Arizona. SchreiberBike (talk) 04:09, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as misleading. I can't find any information about a place in Turkey but it is seemingly a place in Italy[1] and a not uncommon typo/misspelling of Arzono, an area of Naples. Thryduulf (talk) 12:33, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - normally I'd say keep as a likely misspelling for Arizona, but in this case, it's a likely misspelling for other topics as well. Ego White Tray (talk) 03:18, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
